As Erryn started her search for potential friends, already spotting two other kids around her age, she was immediately halted by a Pokemon of sort. It looked like a rat, but cuter. Taking out her PokeDex, Erryn pointed it towards the purple creature.
"Rattata, the Mouse Pokemon. Its incisors continue growing until its death. If its Trainer doesn’t offer it a file to gnaw on, it will gnaw on door frames, table legs, and so on."
Erryn flinched a bit. Having to chew constantly sounded uncomfortable. She didn't think she wanted to catch the Rattata, though. She didn't have anything for it to help with its teeth yet. Maybe if she found a file, she'd come back and catch one.
"You are really cute, though...."She could also use the chance to learn how to use the balls on wild Pokemon, too. As she contemplated the idea, Erryn felt a tug on her sleeve and looked at Riolu."What is it, Riolu?"
"Lu."
Riolu took the PokeDex from her and played with it a bit; he seemed to know his way around one pretty well for a wild Pokemon. He pulled up the screen with his attack moves and pointed to the Rattata.
"...We have to fight it?"
"Lu."
That seemed a bit mean, but it did make sense. Pokemon had to get stronger, right? Fighting seemed like the best possible way to do that.
"Will you fight this time, Riolu?"Riolu nodded and Erryn beamed. He was being super helpful. If only she could understand him better."Okay! Our first fight!"
vs! A wild level 3 Rattata appeared! Erryn sent out Riolu!
Riolu used Quick Attack! -40 HP from Rattata. Rattata fainted! Riolu earned 2 EXP!
That was surprisingly easy. The Rattata wasn't very strong at all. Erryn yelped a bit when Riolu dug in her bag, pulling out a ball and giving it to her. She took it without thinking; he seemed to know what he was doing, so questioning him just seemed useless. Maybe he used to have a trainer? Riolu snapped her out of her thoughts when he pretended to throw something and Erryn tilted her head as he repeated the action. It took a second or two for her to realize he was telling her to throw the ball at Rattata. Was that how she caught Pokemon? Deciding not to really dwell on it and just go ahead, Erryn mimicked Riolu's demonstration and tossed the ball at the unconscious Rattat. It rattled a bit, but it soon settled down and pinged.
"Did I catch it...?"This time, it was Charmander that moved. She rushed over and picked the ball up, returning to Erryn to give her the spherical capsule. Erryn beamed again."I caught my first Pokemon!"
"Rio...."
"Well, I mean....The first Pokemon that didn't ask to come with me."
But, the Rattata was still unconscious, right? Was there some way to heal it from the battle? Maybe Oak could do it for her? Erryn figured now was a better time than any to talk to others and start asking questions. Putting Rattata's ball with Charmander's and Riolu's, Erryn walked over to the two other kids with her Pokemon in tow. She was actually really nervous all of a sudden. What did you say to kids from the past? She didn't want to accidentally say something that would tell them what time she was from. Though, she didn't think there was anything she could say. It wasn't like her life was filled with flying cars or space colonization....Not that scientists weren't trying to figure all that out. That sort of thing was still a distant future even for her.
"Um....Excuse me?"Well, too late to turn around now. That'd just be rude and make her look like a coward. She was neither of those things. Well, she liked to think of herself as not rude anyway."Is there someplace I can have my Rattata treated here in Pallet?"

The entire trip to Pallet was full of suspicious stares and little whispers; though, that was only to be expected when he ran onto the train like a madman carrying a bewildered Vaporeon. But, no one really said anything to him and that was a good thing. Alejandro's nerves were a bit shot. He'd accidentally elbowed officers that tried to break up fights he had been in before and he wasn't a stranger to just walking away from them and letting his guardians handle the legal bits, but Alejandro hadn't actually ever made an effort to trick the authorities like that before. He was a punk, but he wasn't a criminal.
Arriving in Pallet was a huge relief to him. He half expected Jenny to stop the train. But, she didn't and Alejandro was (temporarily) off the hook.Man. Pa and Dad are going to be furious with me when they find out.He was certain about a lot of things, but the big question was whether or not it had been worth it. Looking down at Vaporeon, he smiled a bit when he saw how she rolled around in the grass while mewing happily. It was definitely worth it. Alejandro took the Aqua Ball from his bag and looked at it, Vaporeon sitting up to stare curiously. It would be easier to just keep it, but then she wouldn't be his. Besides, it was best to erase her connection to that four-eyed b*****d.
"...I'm gonna call you Aqua. You like that, princess?""Vaporeon~!"That was a yes. Alejandro rubbed one of her fins gently before taking a Luxury Ball out of his bag, dropping her original ball only to crush it under his foot. They were tough little things; it took a bit more effort than he thought it would. But, it broke soon enough and he knelt again as he held his own ball out to her."Welcome to the team, Aqua. I'll introduce everyone to you later, yeah?""Por~!"She held her nose to the button on the ball and he watched as she was absorbed into it, though he let her out again immediately after. Alejandro rather liked having at least one Pokemon out to keep him company.
The boy apologized to his pokemon after trying to wring the water out of his hoodies pikachu ears. The poor green monster was so relieved that his trainer had woken up. She chided him on what he had done, worrying the poor creature, and that he should have listened to his mother. She nodded as he explained himself, understanding the desire slightly.
"Just because they’re young, it doesn’t mean they don’t have things going on in there." The powders were part of their flowers. "Squirtle doesn’t know any water moves yet, but she can still produce a little water." Or dribble as it were. "And just a little of any of the powders can be dangerous. Goodness, at this stage it could have been a mixture of them."
Mel sighed before relenting. At least he learned his lesson, or so she had hoped.
He thanked her for the help before spotting her hiding squirtle. That sent the boy on a ramble. She tried to follow best she could before saying anything. His adoration of Professor Oak brought about hers for Professor Juniper. The boy, however, admitted that he didn’t know her.
"Oh, she’s the professor new trainers get their pokemon from in Unova, where I used to live." She said before swinging her backpack around. "She offers snivys, tepigs, and oshawotts. I even have her autograph!" Mel gushed happily as she fished out the photo the professor signed.
She showed it to the boy. It was a picture of the professor standing there with her minccino. "I was lucky enough to get three autographs from her at different lectures. This one is my lucky one, it was the first one I ever got." She said with a big smile. She pushed her large glasses back up the bridge of her nose before going on. "On one of them, I even got her and her dad, Professor Cedric Juniper, to sign."
She gave Blaine a firm nod, causing her glasses to slid down her nose once again as he questioned her about being a professor. From his own backpack, he produced a book, claiming that he wanted to be a pokemon sketch artist. "Oh really?" She had never really have any run-ins with anyone who did that. "May I?" She asked, holding out her free hand for the book so she could look at his work.
It wasn’t long before Melody remembered her manners and introduced herself, and in turn, Blaine did the same for himself and his pokemon. "It is very nice to met you both." She said, accepting the vine shake from the bulbasaur.
Melody gave pause when he mentioned finding his mother. "Your mom? You don’t know where she is?" Mel asked, concern crossing her face. Poor kid. She thought. She didn’t know what she would do if she didn’t know where her mother was.
She tried to smile softly. "Well, that’s a very admirable goal." She said with another nod, causing her to have to push her glasses back up once again. Next, he asked her if she had named her squirtle.
She looked to her new partner and frowned slightly. "No… Not yet..." She admitted. "I was thinking about naming her Venus, but I don’t know if it fits." She said with a sigh.
The next question took Melody aback for a moment. The pair had just met, and he was already asking her if she wanted to walk to Veridian city with him. She took a moment to consider the offer before giving yet another glasses rattling nod. "Sure. It would be nice to have some company."
Before they could get moving though, Blaine spotted something moving in the grass. She gave a soft nod, not wanting to spook whatever it was. She watched as the boy dropped to his knees and began to crawl.
Before she could watch the ensuing battle, her attention was pulled by another's voice. She turned so that she could see the young girl, a small smile playing over her lips. "Yes?" She responded. The girl asked about a pokemon center, which caused Melody’s brows to furrow.
"Um, I’m not sure." She said, a frown appearing on her face. "I don’t think- hang on." She said holding up her index finger before pulling her backpack back around.
She fished around for a moment before pulling out a map. "Lets see… Ah, here, I’m not sure if its a pokemon center or a healer, but they should be able to help you." She said with a smile as she pointed to a mark on her map.
It was then that Blaine rejoined her, brandishing his freshly caught pokemon still in it’s ball. He clicked the release, allowing the new pidgey to come out. She smiled, watching him interact with the pokemon, quickly giving it a name and spraying it down with a potion. "That’s so awesome, Blaine!" She said brightly.
"Oh, uh, she’s getting ready to head to a healing center, maybe we should tag along so they can check out Jet too?" She suggested, looking back and forth between the pair.

”Alright, we’ll have to part ways here.” Lizzie spoke up as they landed down in Pallet Town, earning a look from Ashley. She gave him a grin though, gesturing out to the area around them. ”My designated region is Kalos unfortunately. There are few riders who are able to go anywhere but some of us are stuck for… reasons.” She shook her head, holding up a finger.
”Don’t worry though! You hit that pager of yours and someone here will come pick you up! If you’re lucky they can stick around the entire time. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind with how quick you are.” She gave him a thumbs up and Ashley ‘hm’ed. He supposed that was acceptable though still a shame. He was starting to mostly tolerate the young woman, despite all her questions.

In the end, he was better than some of the people she’d assisted over the course of this event, if not a little odd.

With the final farewells done, Ashley watched as Lizzie and her charizard rose into the air and headed back for Kalos, lingering a moment before turning his attention to the town they were in. This was the starter town for the Kanto region and he immediately spotted the local laboratory where individuals could claim their starters. It was very quaint; much different and les lively than Aquacorde. Of course, from his readings Kanto was generally considered more old-school than the other regions, reveling in the historical factors of their time.

Something he’d probably see more of as they travelled through the various cities. There was quite a bit of culture to take in if he so chose to. But first things first, he needed to locate an egg. There was no point trying to keep time, at least not here, given the fact that a good chunk of it had been spent speaking with Lizzie before she departed. Still though, that didn’t mean he could nor should just take his time. Bastien followed at his heels, clearly disheartened about the chance that he’d find an egg before his trainer; something Ashley fully noticed.

"You must think before you act, Bastien." Ashley spoke up finally to the pokemon as it trailed him, beginning his search of the small town. The fox blinked and looked up, a clear expression of confusion on its face. The French man didn’t bother to look at him, instead kneeling and once more retrieving an egg that he had somehow managed to locate. Bastien was stunned how did he do that? Ashley simply tucked the egg away, pulling out the pager and ushering the pokemon along as a lone flyer appeared to whisk them away.

”I gathered that.” He said, cheesing down at his Bulbasaur, red still painting his cheeks from the whole incident. She continued to berate him for his foolishness, and he knelt down to the ground, hugging his pokemon. Whispering into Bulby’s ear, his eyes were fixed on the girl as she continued her sermon. ”She sounds like a mom.”
”Or worse… a teacher.” He said, taking note of how very much like a librarian she looked like with her huge glasses. ”She’d be the type to assign lots of homework.”
It wasn’t until Blaine spotted her squirtle that his rampant excitement kicked into full gear again. He credited Professor Oak, and that sprung Mel into her own tirade about Professor Jupiter. Or something. He gawked, mouth gaping at her signed autograph. The way she held it like a precious gem made it seem like this Jupiter was a celebrity, but he’d never heard of her…. ”Does that picture do something?”
But when she said she wanted to be a professor too, it made sense. Sharing a smile with his pokemon, his shoulders lifted up high enough to touch his ear lobes. “Told ya. Homework.” But as she delved into her aspirations, he couldn’t help but share his own. Holding up his sketch book, he beamed and handed it to her when she asked.
“My mama says I’ll be famous one day.” He said, swaying with his hands behind his back excitedly.
They both seemed to have remembered their manners then, exchanging names. He explained that he and Bulby were on an adventure to find his mom, and she paused - a flash of sympathy crossed her expression. “No, but don’t worry! We’re agonna find her.”
Rounding back to her squirtle, he asked if she’d name it and he scratched his head through the hoodie. “Venus?” He asked, not understanding the reference. Granted, he wasn’t as scholarly as Mel probably was. Blaine’s mind usually honed in on three things: his lost mother, pokemon and snack cakes!
He invited her to come along with them, and she paused long enough to consider the option. With a hand on his hip, his whole sassy demeanor was ruined by the pikachu’s ear flopping to one side. “What, we’re not strangers anymore.” She agreed, and he hopped from one foot back to the other happily. ”Great!”
Before they could get going though, Blaine spotted some rustling in the grass. Determined to win his first pokemon battle and potentially catch a pokemon, he threw off the hood to his jacket and ordered the attack. While he was concerned with the pokebattle, another girl approached them. He didn’t hear what she asked, but Mel pulled out a map and started to direct her.
He bounced over with his pokeball in hand, and struck a pose as he introduced the girls to his new pidgey. After deciding on a name, Melody caught him up to the situation. ”Yeah, that’s probably a good idea. I want Jet fit and proper!”
Marching with purpose, he remembered after about ten steps in a random direction that he didn’t know where he was going. ”Uh, which way again?”

It was the girl that answered her, though she had to pull out a map to check. She much not be familiar with Pallet either....Was that a safe thing to assume? Erryn wasn't sure. The dark-haired girl pointed out a place Erryn could go, saying she wasn't sure if it was a Pokemon Center or a healer. Well, it was at Professor Oak's lab, so Erryn doubted it was a hospital. That was what Pokemon Centers were, right? Hospitals for Pokemon?
"Thank you!"It was then the boy, who had gone off when Erryn wasn't paying attention, came back and let out bird from one of the balls."Oh, I know that Pokemon. It's a Pidgey....I think."
It looked different than the one in her mom's picture book. That one had been kind of gold in color, but this one was brown and cream; like how you'd expect a bird to look. Suddenly unsure, Erryn pulled out her PokeDex to check.
"Pidgey, the Tiny Bird Pokemon. It is docile and prefers to avoid conflict. If disturbed, however, it can ferociously strike back."
It was a Pidgey! That was weird. Was the one Erryn saw in the book from a different region that caused different colors like Vivillon? Or, maybe it was some kind of pigment mutation? She'd have to ask someone at some point, but she was getting off topic. Putting the device away again, Erryn stood and turned. She'd missed the two other kids talk about joining her while she was looking at Pidgey, but Riolu didn't. The little blue jackal looked at the two kids, gave an exhausted sigh as if apologizing for his trainer, and then jogged up to Erryn.
Walking back into Oak's lab, Erryn was greeted by one of Oak's assistants who was more than happy to let her use their healing machine; and, of course, teach her how to use it. Once Rattata was treated, Erryn thanked the assistant and skipped out of the building holding the ball. Yes!

Now that they were in the clear, even though he knew it was likely temporary, Alejandro decided it was worth trying to collect as many eggs as he still could. He doubted he'd be able to get all of them at this point, but it was still worth a shot. Maybe he would aim to collect five eggs for the time being. That should be easy enough."Alright, Aqua. I could use your help. Do you think you could help me find eggs like these?"Alejandro pulled out the two eggs he had already to show her and Aqua tilted her head before jumping and darting off towards some bushes to look. Well, that was quick.

Instead of wandering away from Aqua, Alejandro took to searching areas near her. His nerves were still a bit shot and he worried something might still happen to her. Yes, Alejandro realized it might be bad for the egg hunt, but at this point, he was only partially trying. He'd spent too much time with Vaporeon's predicament. Not that he regretted it or anything; he had been prepared to forfeit the hunt all together if he had to."Lit."Alejandro blinked and looked behind him to see Cazador sitting there as if he was waiting. The hell? When did he get out of his ball?"Either help look for an egg or get back in your ball, Cazador. There'll be no freeloading, got it?"To his surprise, Cazador (after scratching behind his ear in what looked like thought) walked off and started sniffing around. Was he actually helping? Damn. That was actually great progress.

It was great that Cazador was helping them, but did he have to wander so far? Every time Alejandro looked up, the Litten was further and further from them. He could understand not wanting to stay too close to a Water-type, but it just looked like he was trying to get away and be alone. At the thought, Alejandro frowned and chose to keep an eye on the little fire cat. Trusting your Pokemon was important, but given how stubborn his team has been, he honestly wouldn't put it past them to do something devious. Maybe he should work on trust-building exercises or something.

As Alejandro helped Aqua look for an egg, he felt a tug on his pants and looked down at Cazador. The Litten was sitting neatly next to his leg with an egg in front of him."Damn. You actually found one, huh?"Alejandro smiled a bit and knelt, patting Cazador's head softly before putting the egg with the other two."Maybe next time, Aqua. Alright, let's get going. We have to get to Pewter City. Shouldn't be too long a trip. Hopefully."

Now she could meet her Rattata. Erryn moved away from the lab so she wasn't in the way and looked at Rattata's ball. Charmander and Riolu both looked at her expectantly, making her smile. No use waiting. Erryn let the little mouse of its ball and knelt in front of it, the Rattata tilting his head at her curiously.
"Hi!"Rattata jumped a bit at her energetic greeting before sniffing at her."Aw. You're so cute. I'm Erryn, and I'm your trainer now."
Rattata didn't seem to mind that he'd been caught. Instead, he smiled and did a little jump before circling her. Erryn laughed when he crawled up to her head, tucking himself under her hat and poked his head out. Well, if that was where he wanted to be, she was okay with it. It was actually really cute.
"Okay. Time for more training! Wonder what other Pokemon there are in Pallet."
