Zasalamel had been standing near Malen, yes...but when the shadow grabbed his mother, the Drow immediately lept into action. It was too late. The Shadow's claws ripped through the woman as if it were nothing.

The young Drow stopped in his tracks as he was sprayed with his precious Ilhar's blood.

His purple eyes went wide, and all he could do was stare. Stare at the fallen woman on the ground, his words and his heart caught in his throat. He heard nothing from around him; all he heard was the beating of Neveah's heart as it wavered. He knew his Ilhar was dying. He knew what was happening...and all he could do was just stand there, staring at her.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the tall Drow fell to his knees, his legs unable to keep him standing any longer. When his Ilhar's corpse was forgotten by the damned shadow, the Drow reached out, carefully wrapping his arms around her uninjured but bloody shoulders to pull her closer to him. In the shadow of his hair, his tears went unnoticed.

"...Ilhar..." He breathed out slowly, his voice hitching in the tears that refused to fall. He didn't care about the madness that ensued around him, he didn't care about anything anymore...his Guardian was gone, and al he could do was stare as her heart beat its last. A strangled voice tore from his throat and the boy's head lowered, burying into the bloody shoulder of his Ilhar's corpse he held so closely.

He was only given a moment or two to wallow in this state, for the light spirit's words broke through the silence of his sorrow. Get the body out. Get out of the room. Zasalamel sat there, cradling his mother's corpse, for only a moment longer. Soon, he wrapped one of his arms under Neveah's knees, the other wraped across her upper back. Picking up the corpse, Zasalamel backed up a few paces, before turning completely.

Zasalamel disappeared down one of the hallways with his late Ilhar's corpse, the tall boy walking past the playpen and the people protecting it. He didn't care about them, he didn't care anymore...he looked as lifeless as she did, the only difference was that he was moving...

And that silent tears were falling in torrents down his cheeks.

Yashi put the toddler down once he started to wiggle, fingers touching his hair briefly before. Neveahs death had shaken him and the lack of anything to do in order to help just left him trembling in his rage.

That's when Zah moved past. Golden eyes followed him and his fangs shrunk as h is best friend registered in his mind. His brother wasn't even spared a glance as Yashi pattered quickly after his friend...carrying his mothers body.

"Zah," The kitsune whispered, moving to walk just slightly behind him and his hand reached out to touch the boys shoulder as they walked into the place they had been told. "Z-Zah... I'm sorry. I am."

The only thing that made Osrit, the grouchy gnome that he was, get off his a** and go towards the headquarters was the fact that Sicily hadn't sent off a flare like that in all his existance. It had to have been bad if the soft spoken woman who rarely used power at all sent up something that large.

And the flare of shadow was definitely not something that boded well for the shifter.

When he entered the headquarters, the blood on the ground (he knew blood all too well, even in this place) shocked him. And was that an animated corpse going towards that lady?

Crap. It stunk of Jorianth - but thankfully, the twins and Sariban hadn't yet put up their stink.

"Sicily, where are they?"

The flash of light tore across the cieling, stopping Taylor in her tracks again. She watched, eyes squinted, it as it brightened the room, bristling with strange, squiggling tendrils of light.

Light and dark, light vs. shadow... she wished for her physics textbook, but had an idea that this was no mere matter of photons.

Wait... if there was all this light, where was the remaining darkness coming from? She scanned the chaotic crowd, loud with shouting and crying and fighting, not entirely sure what she was looking for-

There. A horribly familiar shadowy figure, far away from the action but still too close for comfort.

"It's over there!" Taylor shouted to anyone within hearing, pointing her wand at the distant Jorianth. "The thing! It's still here! Come on!"

She was NOT taking this on alone.

Unsurprisingly, the shadowmancer had been quite content to hide away in the shadows while everyone mingled about, waiting for its call to be heeded. But no, these ungrateful little vermin couldn't even leave THAT well enough alone, could they? A look of pure disgust crossed his face as he singled out Taylor. Impudent brat of a female.

Shira was no longer a priority. Wheeling around, the puppeted body-of-Danny wasted no time in swinging a hand towards Taylor, sending two sharp-edged crescent of shadows screaming along the ground at her.

Nicolai stood quickly, still frantically searching for Wiko, but gave enough time to shout his own warning to Taylor.

"Did you not hear?? I said we have to get OUT!" he almost growled. "Leave him to the others!"

Not his style... but it had to be done.

"And where the hell is my malysh??!" he continued, inadvertantly blurting Russian in the process. Catching sight of him down the hall, and satisfied enough by that, he darted after, herded with the rest into the training room.

Coailiann, somehow still composed (and in somewhat of a numb shock stage) whispered, "Wiko..uh...wiko was pushed out. With the others. Away. Training room? Can't remember...Safe, though..." She couldn't remember. She was babbling.

What was happening? Coailiann...passed out. She couldn't deal with it anymore.

"And how are we supposed to get out?" Taylor shouted back, her voice high-pitched and frightened. "There isn't any out! We're enveloped or-"

She jumped as a pair of razor-edged shadows shrieked through the air at her. She jumped clumsily, dodging one, slicing wildly at the other, but she wasn't quite fast enough. The deadly dark edge bit into her ankle, sending drops of blood splashing to the floor.

Not fatal, not incapacitating, but really, really painful. Her stride became more of an agonizing limp. s**t.

Still, she stood firm, wand at the ready. It had done an okay job fending off shadows so far. And at this point, she couldn't turn and run. She had to win. Had to finish it.

Was this how Diacyn felt all the time? It was a little scary.

A few moments after Osrit arrived, two men clothed just barely, and probably far too indecently, entered the room together, twin smirks on their faces.

They looked identical. "Jorianth. I see you've caused," Narcus said with a smile, his brother chiming in after him with, "carnage without us."

They seperated and strolled near him, one of them dragging a shadow-whip along the floor. It dug into Taylor's now injured ankle mercilessly - really, she was a nuisance. They should kill her.

They would, but not until Sariban arrived. Jorianth was already in enough s**t. They wouldn't be in that trouble as well.

Rouge had crossed the room in the time that had passed. And now with a fainted Kay on the ground she decided it was time to move. Picking up the child she moved in the direction she had been deduced was towards the training room. "I'd say we've lingered a bit too long." she mumbled. Right about then she missed Steve. Steve and Tandy and Chip and her crew.

LE EDIT:

Then she noticed Taylor. "Oh no. You aren't staying here." she hissed adjusting Kay so she was under one arm and going back to the other. Bending down she grabbed Taylor round the waist, slinging the other over her shoulder. "You are hurt and I refuse to let you stay here." and with that she turned, heading toward the training room once again.

Artemis sent images of fire to Xerk once more, the oven stove lighting, the wood about them burning. Now was the time for light, shadows hated light didn't they?

Shira was still partialy blinded and blown by the light when she arose, holding the sword with two hands and blinking out the white spots in her eyes. She heard and acknowledged Nicolai's wise advice of leaving this up toe whomever these entities that appeared were. Ready to leave she saw Coailiann fall to the ground.

"Whomever your child is I'm sure he's safe, as Coailiann has said!" Shira yelled at Nic. "Now help take in those who are here!"

Unaccustomed to fighting, but willing if her next action caused it, she was strided quickly towards Taylor and stopped after another darker being arrived. Shitshitshitshitshit Luckily Rouge picked her up, but Shira was now worried if they had drawn the dark one's attention.

Sicily flinched as the twins entered the room. Jorianth was bad, but Narcus and Arisin were worse.

Banded together? They were...scary. Even to her. Thankfully, Osrit had arrived and she pointed in the direction where the three now were. The gnome harumphed.

Damn shadow spirits, always wrecking anything they could.

"Hmph. 'Least Saribitch isn't here," he muttered, trying to figure out if he could get close enough to one of the three to shift into them, or at least steal their power. Not likely, but he had to calculate.

"Where is Cri?"

"I don't care where the bouncy light turd is," he grumbled, reaching out and taking the sword that Coailiann had dropped. It would work well, especially enhanced by his light.

Taylor collapsed as the shadowy whip curled around her leg like a lash of razor wire, spilling even more blood onto the floor. Dark grey blood in a shadowy world. Through the pain, she saw two more figures, or maybe one figure- was she having double vision now?

NO! Can't- give up- she flailed blindly at the whip with her sword-wand, having no idea if it was working or not. The edges of her vision were starting to go dark-

And then someone was picking her up, dragging her back to her feet- the whip's grip loosened and she was able to follow, though just barely. The ankle, at this point, was hardly functional at all. A trail of spotty blood was left on the floor behind them.

"I guess there was an 'out' after all-" she murmured vaguely, more then a little dizzy. "Hey, thanks... whoever you are?..."

I really am an idiot.

"WAIT! I'm here, wait for meeee, no one do ANYTHING until--" A little form slid down the hallway, feet scrabbling for purchase as it tried to magically reverse its momentum and, y'know, NOT collide into Rouge on her way out. "Sorry, very sorry, m'am~" Making a furtive bow to the woman, the pale-white, glowing spirit straightened itself out and took off once more for the main room, panting heavily.

"Si... Sicily, I'm heeeeere, don't worrrrry, I'll save youuuuu...." Flashing up an overbright superhero grin, the smallish spirit straightened out; and, looking around the room, starting going wide-eyed. "Wooooow, what's this place? It looks soooo cool!"
