Remonee glared, breathing heavily. Her wings had begun to melt, causing her great pain. She wiped the sweat from the back of neck and created an ice sphere around her. The landscape my have changed, but they were still in the Everwinter Battleground. She had the wits to endure this, even if she lost her wing, and therefore her life, he would know what she could do. The Winter Queen sighed and started to freeze her wings back to normal. With a soft breath, she frosted her wings to make them last longer.

Mikal was frozen as he watched Winter suffer. She was the only one of the Royal Fae who could die easily. Silently he squeezed Torra's hand. He was worried about Remonee. No one else but he and Amiera knew what would happen if Remonee's wings melted. He shot a glance at the Summer Queen and saw she was worried as well.

Amiera was hurting as Winter suffered. She knew Remonee would die before she had the chance to give up. She wasn't meant for this. With a sharp glare at the Angels and Toma, she took in a shaky breath. "This will not end well. She can't keep her wings frozen long enough. And I cannot interfere. You have condemned Winter to her death." She said in a harsh tone.

Rava and Ambrosia just stared at the battlefield and said nothing.

Torra sighed and kissed Mikals cheek. "Don't worry." She almost laughed when he shot a nasty glare at her for saying such a thing. Torra knew it was wrong to interfere but she knew exactly what it felt like to be forced to think and feel like you are dying. It was how her father had punished them as kids. It was also why she didn't care if she interfered.

She moved to Amieras side, leaned in close and whispered. "Hey I need you to know this isn't real." she waited as Amiera looked at her like she was telling a sick joke. Once she looked like she might believe her she continued, "It is my fathers specialty, it doesn't affect demons who he isn't concentrating on, but since you all are so strongly connected, you are sucked in as well." She let that sink in and finished, "It's a mind game. Focus on me for a minute. You'll see the weather and everything is exactly the same, and if you keep that in your mind you'll notice they are just standing there." She squeezed her hand and moved back to Mikals side.

Rava and Ambrosia just stared at the battlefield and said nothing.

Torra sighed and kissed Mikals cheek. "Don't worry." She almost laughed when he shot a nasty glare at her for saying such a thing. You'll see the weather and everything is exactly the same, and if you keep that in your mind you'll notice they are just standing there." She squeezed her hand and moved back to Mikals side.

Amiera shook her head. She was tired and her strength was fading from being in this form. She looked to Mikal to find he was exhausted as well. She sighed and leaned on Tariel, closing her eyes. The last Winter Queen died in a mind game like this. Remonee is no different. She isn't strong enough. Amiera thought, anxious to have this over with.

Remonee was thinking. She was thinking quickly and moving her hands. The mind was precious to Winter Fae. She was using her wits and the only attack she was allowed to use. She froze the demons blood. It wasn't enough to kill him, but make it so he could not move. Her sphere of ice kept her cool and would not melt as long as she kept thinking of cooler weather. She could only think of her palace and how cold it was. It made her feel as if she was already there.

"Child, I know what you are thinking. And her death was caused by something else. You cannot die from a trick of the mind. And the rules are set that neither demon may kill a fae nor a fae a demon in this situation. So fear not."

Torra watched as her father jerked and stilled. His head snapped up meaning his concentration was broken and Remonee had a better chance of winning. But knowing her father, anything could happen from this point on.

Mikal smirked. The whole act had gone perfectly. He watched as Amiera went silent. They had done well to distract without interfering in the test. He hid his expression well. It changed and became one of pain as his wings began to bleed again. The elders were getting impatient with him.

Amiera watched Mikals silvery blood drip from the tip of his wings. She could feel the power fading around them. The magic aura was dissipating quickly as the Elders pulled back the released forms. Her eyes widened with worry. "No. This is bad. We have taken too long. This needs to end now." She said, fear lacing her voice.

Remonee could feel her form fading. She became panicked and looked at the Demon in front of her. We need to stop this now. She thought to him. I cannot continue without my true form. And the Elders are sealing our forms. See it as you will. If you must have it then I will admit defeat. But this has to stop now!

Raiden scowled, "Very well. If I cannot have you at your very best then I do not want to face you at all. This fight is over. Your elders are annoyingly pathetic. They agree to let this battle happen and yet they force you to stop in the middle? How very trivial. Perhaps you need new advisers who have more sense and honor to let past rulings and agreements happen."
He held out his hand. "This fight is over, may I help you up my dear?" Once she was up on her feet, they joined the group.

Remonee faded back to her human-like form as she started to build the portal back. We need to hurry. Ameira and Mikal have been summoned. If we ignore a direct Summon it will cost all of us. Even the Angels will lose something. She was thinking fast, not realizing the necklace was still letting her communicate. Her thoughts became images as she worked. It was like a disorganized slideshow to most. The summer palace. The wedding. The Elders. Mikal's Wings. The fight. These things passed her thoughts quickly and she still had time to process it all. The speed of her thinking and total control of her train of thought would make everyone else seem insane, but that was Remonee. Having had many millennia in her own mind she had perfected her thinking to be so quick, precise, and efficient. In truth, she had foreseen this happening. She knew what the outcome of the fight would be. She knew the elders would call them back like this. She also knew what waited for her at the meeting with the Elders. She thought a glance at Toma and Raiden. I am sorry. But even if we Royals survive the Elders.... I refuse to continue this fight. If that means I must give up my love for Toma, and that he and I cannot be together, then I shall suffer that pain and do as I must. But I will not fight you again. Remonee thought to them. She looked at the Angels. Do What you must and leave my Ever Winter Battleground before I finish this Portal. I cannot open it with you here. You higher angels hinder my magic and compromise my thoughts.

"On a side note before my sister and I leave. Your Fae elders have no domain over us. Fae are born of angels and demons. They have nothing that can combat us in such a way to make us lose anything. Terra, Torra, it has been wonderful seeing what lovely young ladies you have become. Regardless of our brother." Rava hugged the girls and shook her brothers hands. "No hugs for you two. You need to see us more." And she left.
Ambrosia looked at the group. "Mind yourselves Fae children. Brothers. Terra and Torra. It has been lovely." and like her sister she was gone.

Amiera was the first through the portal. She and the other royals left immediately to the Elders Chamber, leaving Jesse with the demons. He sighed and fell back onto a sofa in the common area outside their rooms. "Feel free to go clean up and change. Servants are bringing some snacks and such up for us. All we can do now is wait." He said. He was exhausted but he had to take care of the guests before he could rest. This was not going as planned. Amiera would be furious with him if he did not do his job. He sat up as a piercing scream penetrated the castle walls. It was male, meaning the Elders had delivered Mikal's punishment for losing his wings. "Torra.... Get cleaned up and changed. Mikal will need your help when he returns. I am afraid the Elders were not forgiving with him. Instead of punishing the royals individually, they gave him the punishment for all three..." He said sadly. He had seen what a punishment could do and he knew the Dark king would be scarred forever.

She sighed. "Please don't order me around. It's very unbecoming of you." but she got up and went to get all the dirt washed off. She changed into a light green sun dress she found lying on the bed.
When she returned everyone was waiting for the three royals to come back into the room.

Amiera and Remonee had returned when Torra exited her room. The two Fae queens looked sad as they went to their own rooms to change. Mikal was no where to be seen. A trail of silvery blood led down the hall to the Dark Kings bedroom, stopping at the door. Blood smeared along the walls and on his door. Jesse pointed Torra in that direction, unable to look at the blood.

The Dark King was kneeling on his floor, door slightly open. His clothing was shredded and his back was exposed. The one coal black leathery wings were broken and torn. Silver blood covered his back and bones from his wings protruded at odd angles. It was easy to see he was in agony.

As she entered his room slowly, nervous about his condition, as much as she steeled herself for what she would see, it didn't stop the gasp and tears from coming. She moved to his side but didn't touch him afraid she would hurt him even by touching some other part of his body that wasn't broken and bloody.

"I don't mean to pry, and if it's much too soon you don't have to answer this yet. But what happened? Why are you the only one who was hurt? I'm not wishing pain on any of you but the girls were fine other than being shaken and exhausted." she paused and waited before changing to another question, "Can I get you anything?"

She was never good at these types of situations. If it were her and not someone else she would be fine, no tears no shakey voice. But this was her friend, and her future.

Mikal hugged her, his body shaking. His wings were limp and numb from the pain. "I was the only one to lose my wings so I am the only to receive the punishment. I am not sure if they will ever heal." He said in a shaken tone. His voice was raspy and weak as he buried his face in her hair. "It hurts so much. Amiera cant even look at me. Remonee is sick to her stomach to see them." He was in pain as he held her, searching her eyes for anything like compassion.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 20, 2014 12:39 pm

She looked at his back, it took almost everything she had to not cringe away. "I won't forgive him for doing that to you. I don't care if he has the excuse of not controlling himself. Any creature who is born with wings cannot be whole without them. It's beyond cruel." She felt a tear slide down her cheek and quickly wiped it away before he saw. "I will be right back, don't move please."

She left his room and went straight to hers. She kneeled on the floor in the middle of the room. "This is probably foolish to try but here goes." She closed her eyes and began to pray to her aunts. She had never done so before so she was certain it wouldn't work. For a long while she felt nothing.

She bowed her head in defeat. "How disappointing. Demons can't have answered prayers from angels. I should have known it would fail." Placing a hand on her bed she pushed herself onto her feet and turned to leave. Ambrosia stood by her door.

Her face was sad. "Torra, it isn't that demons cannot pray to angels, and it isn't that we don't listen. Sometimes, most times in fact we are not allowed to intervene." She looked at her niece with sad eyes "We cannot fix his wings again. I shouldn't have fixed them on the battlefield, if I hadn't though his punishment would have been much more severe. Since they were there to take, I saved him some pain."
She waited, and when Torra said nothing she continued. "I know you do not believe me, but it is true, ask the summer queen, she will tell you. I cannot give him new wings but I can give you a few things to mend him back so he isn't in pain. And in time, a very long and distant time from now, his wings may grow back, not as magnificent as they were but they will come back."
She laid a small glowing sphere in Torras hands and a small pouch of of light crystals. "It will take one session a week until the crystals run out, when they do he will start to regrow the wing tissue he has lost. Once the crystals are gone, call for me again and we will move on." She hugged her and was gone.

Torra stood there for a minute in complete shock. Never once had an angel answered her, let alone come personally to answer her. She looked at the glowing sphere and small bag, "How am I supposed to use these?!" she grumbled to herself as she made her way back to Mikals room. She gently knocked on his door and went back in, he wasn't in the place she had left him, he was now slouching against his bed, head turned to the side, with his eyes closed. He was still breathing unevenly but the bleeding had finally stopped.

Mikal was still. He had dried blood all over his wings. The bones were sticking out more now, as if he had tried to set them himself. Ice had formed on his back, to numb his pain away as Winter and Summer stood in the dark corner. Both glowed with their own light as they spoke in private. Mikal cracked his eyes open to look at Torra. His eyes were darker then normal and held nothing.

Remonee looked up and sighed. She turned back to the summer queen and gave her a sad look before disappearing in a puff of snowflakes. She took her ice with, making the pain return to Mikals back.

Amiera sighed. "Hello Torra. I see you have found Dark in his state. I am sad to say this was the nicest punishment the Elders could give. But he will still rule as Dark shall." She said before leaving gracefully.
