Sitting in quiet meditation in a park, Valin Lobel surfed the waves of the Force. Many people would sense and perceive the Force in their own way - for Valin, the Force seemed to always fit the best definition of being an ocean of life. He had no specific love of the ocean or anything, but it just worked for him.
And here, within the walls of all this life, he felt at peace. This was the most incredible amount of peace he had felt since... wow, since before the war? Almost six years without peace. Even now, though, his past haunted his soul. But still, this was the most peace he had felt in a long time and the young man was quite grateful for it. The Force seemed more open to him, more in his perception, like he was somehow more connected to it.
In truth, he was simply becoming more attuned to hearing the will of the Force, growing more into the Jedi he wanted to be. As he grew more experienced in tuning into the Force and tuning out the self, the more the Force opened to him.
Surfing the waves of life around him, Valin extended his perceptions and opened his mind to the future, to visions of what may come in course of time.
Visions slowly began to flow forth to him. The visions started were imagery, into non-literal representations of the future...
An image of children, playing, and suddenly one pushing the other - who faded into nothing only to return as a monstrosity that attacked the child who pushed him down. Images of things that were just outlines, nothing inside them, empty. The monster struck at them and the outlines disappeared in smoke. The image of rocks on a plane of red. Pillars of steel on a plane of green - and the monster looming over it. Valin focused on the monster, which gave a cruel smile and a wag of the finger as if to say, "No, no, no."
The Jedi opened his eyes, curious to what the visions presented before him represented. The monstrosity obviously represented something or someone evil. It made Valin worried that he couldn't feel it in the Force - could it be the Yuuzhan Vong? That would explain the 'outline men' who were 'empty' - as in empty of the Force or life. But even the monster destroyed them. He couldn't even feel the monster in the Force, but not like the Yuuzhan Vong - it was like he was trying to grab at the monster's Force aura... but it just slipped away, unabled to be felt.
It was eerie and it made him nervous.
Something was wrong. Very wrong. Something big was going to happen. He had a bad feeling about this.
And he had a bad feeling that he was at the crux of it all...

[[ Slow day, ain't it? Works for me though. I'll kick things up a bit... ]]
He opened his eyes - there is was. So... it was the Yuuzhan Vong. He knew by their absence in the Force as their equally absent organic ship approached. They had find him. Clever bastards, as usual. Had he not been here in this park since morning to now early afternoon, actively seeing with the Force, he would have missed them.
The ship was approaching, a small one - something that would be basically be a shuttle analog. He couldn't tell how many beings were inside. It landed on the ground, semi-gently. It was elegant looking, like a deep sea creature. The one thing he could appreciate about Vong biotechnology was that it could produce such beautiful things like this ship - but they mostly produce things that looked like strange rocks or coral reefs or torture devices.
Whatever suited the shuttle fish as a hatch opened up and five Yuuzhan Vong warriors emerged from the living ship.
However, what emerged after was a Slayer. One of the Jedi Killers. Interesting.
They walked towards Valin as they looked around at the park and buildings surrounding it. They were obviously disgusted by the inorganic construction of the buildings. Vong hated technology in the traditional sense - like that by machines. Everything they used was organic and even living in nature. It was unusual - but it was as devastating, and sometimes even more, than his galaxy's technology.
As the Yuuzhan Vong warriors walked towards Valin, the Slayer trailed behind them.
"Jeedai, we have come to kill you as demanded by Supreme Commander Zhae Hul'du. Your death will be a glorious tribute to the god of war Yun-Yammka."
Valin raised an eyebrow, "Zhae Hul'du, eh?" He chuckled a bit and stared down the Yuuzhan Vong warriors, "I'm the man who took his eye and ear."
There was a snap-hiss as the silver blade emerged from the hilt of Valin's lightsaber. He didn't want to do this - but he knew they weren't going to turn back and go away either. Yuuzhan Vong never did but nevertheless, he was going to try anyway, "I don't want to fight you. Turn around and go back to your ship. Get off this planet and never return."
The warriors just stood there and grabbed their amphistaffs - a long black snake-like creature used as a whip or polearm - from their belts. The living weapon uncoiled into its polearm form as the youngest warrior proceeded forth. This was how the Yuuzhan Vong did things - they sent their weakest in first to soften you up. If they had the ability they would win, if not - they would die. It was how Vong warriors proved themselves.
Valin gave himself to the Force, tapping into its warmth and strength. He became serene and calm, feeling no hate towards these warriors. He pitied them - unable to feel the Force, unable to feel the ebb and flow of life itself... no wonder they had become bitter, so cruel. Valin wished he could help them, but they would not let him. They would needlessly die instead. A shame...
With a war cry, the first warrior threw himself at Valin - and was struck down as the Jedi's lightsaber instantly stabbed the warrior in the forehead and through the back of the head. That was a tactical error. The warrior hadn't even predicted that he was going to do something so simple as stab him in the head. Obviously, he had not fought a Jedi before.
Just as Valin pulled out the blade of light, the lifeless body hit the ground. The man who was embodied the will of the Force turned to the other warriors and Slayer. He wove the blade to bring the hilt up to head level - and then charged at the Yuuzhan Vong.
Immediately on the defense, these warriors - who were obviously more experienced in battle - held up their amphistaffs in manners that would afford them luxury of blocking any of Valin's attack. As the Knight ended his charge a bit less than a meter short, he hurdled over the main warriors in a Force-assisted flip. The Slayer stood back and away from the fight, ignoring Valin and his comrades - seeing if the other warriors could handle the Jeedai.
The warriors turned and began their assault. They even bother to fight one on one in the normally 'honorable' fashion. All four unleashed their rage at the Jedi Knight at once...
