This was turning out to be a lot more than Zak had expected, or even hoped for. He figured, he'd hold his defense, he'd keep her shots blocked, play at a moderate level, irritate her.... He even thought she might give up, which was why he didn't try and be too much of a jerk about things. But when he saw how fired up she was, even when she was getting shot down at every attempt... It made him grin. It made his blood burn. It made him feel competitive, and he didn't come close to holding back. That wasn't to say he was going all out -- he wasn' tat 100% -- but that was because he was matching her. He'd had years, and years of experience. She had... a few hours. That wasn't to say he was going easy. He really wasn't holding back; he was going all out, for the level they were playing at. Honestly, it was more than he did for most people. Most he played with, he either ran them over, because he didn't have the interest in lowering his stance to their level, or because they annoyed him, or he didn't take it seriously, and made that obvious.
With Scarlett, that was far from the case. He was breathing hard, working up a sweat, moving fast, and ready to react to her every movement. He was impressed. And he was thrilled. He could feel his muscles straining, his body amped up, his mind blissfully cleared of burdensome thoughts, concerns, or preoccupations. He was focused on the game, on watching her, on playing, on the bodies on the field and the ball on the court. He was on a strange level of high when she finally sank down to the court, but he wasn't disappointed. He didn't even feel his energy drop, not even when he started making his way over, conceded to the end of the game.
He grabbed up his water bottle, dunking some water over his head and using his hand to rub it through his hair. "Eempresive..." he remarked, almost under his breath, as he came over, sitting a foot or two beside her, lifting the water bottle to take a drink. He smirked and scoffed a bit in response to her teasing remark about carrying her back to her room, taking another drink, his eyes straight ahead. After a moment he lowered the bottle, still looking ahead, then absently handed it to her, waiting a moment before sliding his gaze to glance over. ".... Oi, Mishka."

Scarlett had heard Zak murmur something, but she was to tired to actually pick up on it, or try to ask him what he had said. She was aware of his presence beside her though, and heard him scoff at her suggestion of carrying her if she went a few more rounds with him and smiled wearily, allowing herself to rest for a moment. She opened her eyes again however as Zak called out to her, and glancing over, she noticed that he was offering his water. "Ah, much appreciated." She nodded, sitting up to reach over and take a few swigs before handing it back to Zak. "So I suppose ya be wantin' ta know what yar reward is." She suggested with a smile. "I know ya don't really believe in the stuff I was sayin' with yar Spiriake.... But I have a book on my ship that might be worth yar time lookin' into. If that daen't suit yar fancy, I'm sure we kin find somethin' else on my ship that'll satisfy ya. I'll give ya the grand tour ifn ya'd like." She suggested. Though she wasn't sure if he had found out about her ship in his research of her, but the knowledge of the ship wouldn't be enough on it's own as a reward. "That sound acceptable to ya?" She asked curiously.
Speaking of her ship and rewards though, Scarlett reached out mentally to Aero. "Aero, how's Vandal and the others holdin' up?" She asked curiously. "Captain, they appear to have found the Plasma base, and are currently in the middle of infiltrating it. There was a moment where they were almost caught, but Vandal has handled it. He has also appeared to have picked up a lost Delphox however, and that may complicate things." Scarlett frowned. "A delphox?" She asked. "Yes, though she does appear to be a stranger. Vandal has shown no signs of recognizing her. I did not attempt to look into the psychic's mind for fear of being noticed." Scarlett gave a mental nod. That was probably a wise decision on his part. "Keep me updated. We might have to call everyone up soon, Zak and I just finished our game and it's getting late. I'm surprised it took him so long to find the damn base..." Scarlett growled mentally. "Yes... I believe that is in part the delphox's fault. She was a distraction. Vandal seems to err on the side of the flirtatious." Scarlett had to really try not to laugh or smirk at that so that Zak didn't became suspicious, but it was really hard not to. "That.... Shouldn't surprise me. Carry on." Scarlett dismissed, and felt Aero's presence fade.

Zak raised an eyebrow when he had to get Scarlett's attention, and wiggled the bottle a bit to swish the water, as if his voice alone might not be enough to bring her around. He frowned a bit, looking at her quizzically. She must have been more tired than he thought... He could feel the adrenaline beginning to drain a bit, but smirked when she mentioned his reward. He gave her a half-lided look as she spoke, his expression far from modest or innocent, almost dangerously flirtatious, cocky.... He did tilt his head a bit when she finished, though, giving another slight scoff. "You have a ship..." he drawled, "Vhy am I not surprised..." That was actually amusing. He stared at her a moment, as if considering something, but then... she frowned.
He could feel himself relax, just slightly, his body beginning to unwind from the competition, the tension fading as he frowned over the odd response. Why did she suddenly seem a thousand miles away? "Somesing wrong, mishka?" he muttered, drawing back slightly. His frown grew. The heat of the match was fading fast, and he reached out for his water bottle, taking it from her, though not in an aggressive manner. He moved to stand up, an odd expression on his face, brow furrowed as he took another drink. He had...
... Well, it didn't really matter.
"... Anyvay, suppose seeing your ship vould be acceptable," he remarked in a lackadaisical tone that could easily be interpreted as his usual, playfully lazy style, "But I'm not carrying you back to et." He moved over to his things, putting the bottle away, and glancing up as he gathered his belongings, searching the area, briefly, for signs of his pokemon, before looking back to her. "Or are you planning to stay en ze city for a vhile?" he added casually, glancing briefly down at Ten, who, in the stillness of her and Mako's staring match, had began growling again, chewing on his ankor and flapping her little fins uselessly to try and bounce and move.

Scarlett chuckled as Zak commented on her ship. "Ya really shouldn't be." She agreed with a scoff, though she took a moment to call out and check in with Aero on the status of Vandal and the others. She hadn't even realized that she had made a face when the gallade informed her of the delphox that Vandal had picked up, until Zak asked her if something was wrong. She opened her eyes and easily thought of a response, considering it was an actual frustration of hers. "Nothing... I'm just surprised ya didn't know already, considerin' that ya've clearly done yer homework on me." She suggested, doing her best to keep her tone neutral, but the edge was clear. She still wasn't exactly happy about him tossing her name out like that in front of those kids, or with what he had potentially found out. She had come into this match in a sour mood because of that, and while she had enjoyed the game, she hadn't forgotten or forgiven Zak for that just yet, but at least she had certainly calmed down.
She watched him, noting the strange expression he was wearing. What was that look for? Before she could ask though, he insisted that going to her ship would be acceptable, and she nodded, supposing that it was a bit late to ask now. She did snicker a bit though as he insisted that he wouldn't carry her to it. "Hm... I daen't know..... I guess that depends. Did ya want to go to my ship neu, or later?" She asked curiously, arching a bow. She wanted to stay in the city longer to allow Vandal more time, but she didn't want to allude that fact to Zak, especially since she wouldn't have a decent explaination. All she could do was hope that Vandal would finish up soon if Zak's answer was the former, and think of ways to stall for time, like going to the pokemon center and getting showered and dressed. Mako blinked as Ten picked up on her chewing again, noticing that she was wiggling, though he wasn't sure where she was trying to move or get to, otherwise he would have tried to help her.

Hmm.... That, huh? The 'research' he'd done was what made her frown? He'd buy it, even if he wasn't exactly pleased to have that brought up again. The adrenaline high was too good for him to really get hung up on it, so he simply looked at her a moment and then looked away, focusing on his drink, before he began gathering up his things. Scarlett watched Zak intently as he seemed to mull over her answer, and then evade the comment entirely, after looking at her and then away again wordlessly. Normally he would have probably made some snarky comment, or rubbed his knowledge over her in her face, or gotten that dangerous glint in his eye and given her some kind of passive aggressive warning, or.... Something. Instead, he was suspiciously non responsive. "Seems that I could be askin' ya the same question..." She suggested quietly, looking him over with an uneasy and analytical expression. She seriously doubted he felt guilty. Arceus, she couldn't imagine him even knowing the meaning of the feeling. No. Something felt... Off, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Zak had always been hard to read, but now she was getting nothing, and it was actually making her feel nervous.
The tension dissipated slightly as Zak finally agreed that a ship tour would satisfy him, and agreeing to go later, since it was late and much like Scarlett he wanted to wash up, eat, and rest first. "Sounds fine ta me. I already have a room, so I suppose I may as well stay an' use it." She agreed. Meeting up in the morning would be nice. Her ship was currently docked here, which made it easier for traveling purposes. That bit of information might have changed Zak's mind, but given that she was exhausted, and most of her team was dealing with Plasma, she was perfectly fine with resting in a pokemon center for the night and then heading out to the docks in the morning. As Zak coaxed Ten to let go of Mako, Scarlett stood, moving to her back and returned the Ankalor to his pokeball as well. "Breakfast at eight?" She suggested casually, making her way over to Zak and slinging her bag over her shoulder, the other hand on her hip. If they were going to be staying at the same pokemon center, she didn't see why they couldn't make breakfast plans and move from there.

Surprisingly, Zak didn't miss, or even pretend to ignore, Scarlett's remark. It was quiet, so it wasn't like he wouldn't have had reason to pretend not to hear it, but, he did hear it, and he turned back and looked at her for it, too, raising an eyebrow in response. "I vould razzer not get ento an argument after such a good game, Mishka. Es zat so odd?" he drawled back dismissively, surprisingly still not sounding annoyed, though he had dropped some of his nonchalant congeniality for the prodding.
Luckily, the conversation carried on. Zak nodded as she agreed to meeting up tomorrow, and started collecting his pokemon, beginning with Ten. He returned the pokemon and looked over as Meebus reappeared with the others, glancing back over at Scarlett as she suggested breakfast. "Nyet," he replied lazily, collecting the items his pokemon had found, "I vould prefer to do sings on my own schedule. Eef ve happen to eat at ze same time zat's fine. Uzzervise, ve can just plan to meet outside ze pokecenter around nine or ten." He wasn't being difficult, surprisingly, just honest. He didn't really feel like eating breakfast together -- he had work to do, and he was still feeling... odd, and not up to committing to something as still-standing and intimate as eating together -- and he didn't want to have to worry about getting to the dining area at a certain time. He had his own routines, and he preferred to stick to them, difficult as he was about it.

Scarlett gave a light huff and rolled her shoulders back. "No, but no one said we had to argue... Daen't have ta be neu, but I do want ta talk about it." She asserted. His explanation made sense, and there had certainly been times where he had clearly restrained himself as to not ruin the fragile stability between them. There had been times when she had done the same as well, but this felt different than restraint. Regardless, after she made her point, she was willing to let it go for the time being and discuss their plans for tomorrow.
Scarlett suggested breakfast at eight to give some sense of a plan, but Zak declined, insisting he would rather keep to his own sceduale. Scarlett arched a brow curipusly but ultimately shrugged off the rejection. "Fair enough." She agreed. She was more looking for a meeting time and place, breakfast has seemed reasonable but if he would rather meet up front at nine or ten she was fine with that plan too, since she still ultimately had a time and place. She still couldn't shake the feeling that Zak was acting odd, but maybe it was just her looking too much into things. She was tired and while she'd had fun, she was growing irritable due to remembering Zak's research and Vandal's lack of progress thanks to an unforeseen intrusion in the form of a delphox.
Now that she was finished packing up, and presumably talking to Zak, she started making her way off the court. "I'll see ya in the marrow then...." She suggested, glancing over her shoulder back at Zak before heading towards the Pokémon center.

Noted. That was about as much as Zak did with Scarlett's comment on wanting to 'talk' about earlier. He wasn't too interested, mostly because he didn't see what there was to talk about, but also partially because, well... he didn't feel like thinking about that. He essentially ignored the demand, but didn't completely dismiss it. If she had to drag the matter up, then, well... he'd react when that happened. If she brought it up well, he'd talk, or at least listen, but he wouldn't withhold from brushing the subject off if he didn't feel like discussing it. Or spoiling the mood, which could be done rather... easily between the two of them....
Once his things were collected, and they had determined their schedule for tomorrow, Zak gave a simple nod. He was watching her, more in his peripheral vision than anything, to see if his response had unsettled her, but lifted his head when she seemed to just shrug it off. "Later, Mishka..." he murmured back, watching her leave. He lingered around, pretending to take inventory and make sure he had everything, before recalling most of his pokemon, and heading towards the pokecenter. He wanted to avoid crossing paths with Scarlett again, if he could. He quickly grabbed food for himself and his pokemon from the downstairs pokecenter (to go), and headed up to get a room, locking the door behind him and tossing his stuff on the floor. He left the food for the pokemon to devi up themselves, leaving simple orders with Deys and Sotnik to make sure everyone was fed. He left Daeva in her pokeball. She didn't.... eat, or anything, after all...
After getting out of his shower, Zak returned it sweatpants, running a towel over his hair as he made his way for the table, and grabbed up his food. He was still... preoccupied. Bothered. And that alone was starting to annoy him. He didn't... he wasn't... he had no reason to feel this way. He'd been wound up from the game, adrenaline pumping, and her... bringing up that subject and changing the atmosphere had been off putting. That was all. It threw him off the high he'd been enjoying. And if she hadn't....
He slowed his chewing and stared at the table. Only to abruptly take one more bite, and head into the bathroom to brush his teeth. He needed to get to sleep. He needed to get work done, clear his head, and then get some sleep so he could get up and go for a run, and shower again, before breakfast, and before meeting up with Scarlett. He needed to... distract himself.
It wasn't a restful sleep, by any means. He went to bed a little late, but not later than usual. He didn't sleep well, and woke up in the middle of the night. After an hour of work on his computer, though, he was finally able to drift into a dreamless sleep, that lasted until early morning, when Deys woke him for his morning run. Grimacing and grumbling, he nearly forgot about the previous day, or his day's plans, but as he tugged on his shirt, a bothered frown shadowed his face again. Finally, though, he shook his head, and successfully dismissed the feeling. That was yesterday.
Hours later, he had returned from his run and swept through the dining area to get breakfast for him and his team, before heading up to repeat the routine from the night before. By nine thirty, he was downstairs, typing on his wrist-watch-communication device, and waiting for Scarlett, Ten out and chewing on a metal tray he had swiped from the pokecenter, in her new ball, and now in his active team, and the mudkip from Apollo batting curiously at the baby shark.

Scarlett still couldn't shake the feeling that something felt off. It was really beginning to bug her now too. She knew this feeling, the feeling you got when you were on the verge of remembering something important, but can't for the life of you remember. That was what she found more frustrating about it all. It felt like the answer should have been obvious, but Scarlett had no idea what it was. There was just a strange tension that Scarlett found palpable in the air between them, but it was clear Zak was not in the mood to discuss, so she had little choice but to leave with vague meeting times planned for the following day. Saying her goodbyes, Scarlett gave Zak one last over the shoulder glance and then forced herself to move back to the pokemon center, shaking her head dismissively. She needed to get out of her own head. It was probably just the exhaustion and hunger. Yes, she could accept that. She was probably just delirious and seeing things that weren't there. A nice hot shower and some food would help relieve.... Whatever this strange funk was. She had told herself that, but showering only gave her more time to think to herself. Puzzles were her specialty, she loved figuring things out, but that also meant she couldn't let a mystery go unsolved, she had to search for the answer restlessly until she felt satisfied. At this rate though, it would drive her crazy, and she would be in an even more irritable mood tomorrow.
Eventually Scarlett finished showering and dressed in a T-shirt and sweatpants for pajamas, something that would be acceptable to venture back into the center cafeteria in for some late dinner even if it wasn't her usual nighttime attire. Focusing on menial tasks helped take her mind off things, at least a little. Food and drink only went so far, especially since she ended up giving a cursory glance for signs of Zak, caught herself doing it, and grew irritated with herself. At least it reminded her of the fact that she had yet to get an update from Aero on Vandal. "Aero... Is Vandal finished yet?" She asked. "I'm afraid not captain. This might need to turn into an overnight operation..." Scarlett cursed under her breath. "Fine. I'm planning on heading to bed soon so that I can take care of business tomorrow. If Vandal finishes tonight, then lead him here. If not, just continue to keep me updated on his progress tomorrow and I'll fill you in on what to do as the situation changes." She insisted. With an affirmation from Aero, Scarlett cleaned up her meal and headed back to her room. Sleeping on something usually helped her relax and move on, it was actually falling asleep that was the hard part. Thankfully she was tired and exhausted, so even with a lot on her mind, it was fairly easy to pass out.
That didn't necessarily mean her sleep was restful, but it was sleep, and she woke up the next morning somewhat rejuvenated, albeit sore from the previous night's activities. With a sigh, Scarlett looked at the clock. 5:32AM. Usually she got up around 6, but on restless nights like these she tended to wake up earlier, which made no sense to her. Grumbling, Scarlett pulled herself out of bed. First thing was first; stretches, and lots of them. She had to unknot her tense muscles with some yoga and chi kong, which would be preferable over a round of parkour around Castelia, given her body's objections to every move she made. After an hour of stretching and breathing exercises however, she was feeling much better, and was able to go about her morning routine. Brushing her mess of curled hair out section by section, she moved on to makeup, choosing not to cover her freckles again this go around to save some time, and threw on a comfy red knit sweater and some black yoga pants to wear with her black boots so that she could go eat breakfast at 8. Unsurprisingly, Zak wasn't around. He's avoiding me. Scarlett thought bitterly, and quickly dismissed it. There was no basis for such a stupid idea, and even if he was, what did it matter to her? She didn't exactly want to see him either.
....Okay, that was a lie and she knew it, but Arceus, she felt so perturbed. They would meet in front of the center between nine and ten, or Zak would be giving up his reward, which she doubted would happen, but wouldn't entirely mind. Twenty minutes of eating breakfast and feeding her crew, and Scarlett returned all of them except for Cypher. "Come on. We need to go prep the ship for our potential guests." Scarlett insisted. It wasn't nine yet and there were no signs of Zak, and she needed to get a few affairs in order, like organizing things away and checking the security systems on some of the drawers, making sure the Voyager was fully operational, so on and so forth. Cypher would remain hidden inside the ship, monitoring everything, and by nine forty five, she had finished the preparations and arrived at the pokemon center, noting that Zak was already standing out front. "Mornin'." She greeted, coming to a stop and crossing her arms, glancing at Ten and the mudkip. "You have a jacket er somethin'? The sea can be mighty cold time'a year." She suggested casually. Not that it was any of her business if he was cold or not, but she figured she may as well give him fair warning.
When Zak was ready, Scarlett led him down to the port where her ship was docked. "Here she is." Scarlett gestured to the large, sleek, white cruising yacht. "This beauty is The Voyager, and she's all mine." Scarlett mused as Cypher operated inside the ship's mainframe, having the ramp to the deck unfold for them, and Scarlett gestured for Zak to head up first.

"It's a promise," Mila insisted, then took on a serious expression to show for this. She stared ahead blankly at Vandal's little show then scoffed, gaze drifting away. As upset as she might've played to be, Vandal's little prank had done some good, she was no longer concerned about the alley, and as a bonus she was rather quick to calm down. Entering the building she found herself ultimately disappointed at the lack of activity to be found, it really was just a spider's den. At least that's what she thought, until the oddly colored Solosis grew concerned over something and Vandal had the entire group squish together around him. They were hidden away, just as two Plasma grunts entered the room. Though initially angered by the sight Mila quickly realized that she had more important things to channel her energy into, like the fact that they were in risk of being found out.
Without any ideas of her own, especially considering she didn't have a clue what was going on, Mila reached out to Vandal, telepathically, only to nearly deadpan when he revealed that he didn't have an idea either-- or rather he was 'thinking'. It wasn't good enough for the Delphox, but without a plan of her own she was forced to stand still, her tail starting to twitch with stress. Mila was still wracking her brain for an idea when Vandal launched an attack at the two grunts, the suddenness and ferocity taking her by surprise. Thankfully Vandal showed that he knew what he was doing-- though whether or not that was truly a good thing was up for debate-- and soon their problem lie in a heap on the floor, unconscious.
Still in a bit of shock Mila failed to respond immediately to Vandal's request to look into the unconscious grunts' pokeballs, but once the situation sunk in the fox stirred. Directing her attention to the two Mila honed her senses on the pokeballs on the grunts' belt, turning to look to Vandal after she'd obtained the information. "Liepard, Watchog, Trubbish, Sandile and Scraggy," she listed off, but then shifted uncomfortably. "Vandal, why are you doing this?" Sure, a minute ago she'd been angry herself at the mere appearance at Plasma affiliates, after all they were the reason why she'd been split up from her trainer, but Vandal was disguising himself as one of them, and now asking about what kind of pokemon they had. It was.. concerning.

As much as she pretended to be annoyed Mila was actually enjoying her conversation with Vandal, and would long for its light and easy atmosphere not long after they'd entered Team Plasma's HQ. After Vandal had finished 'taking care of' the two grunts who'd had the misfortune of entering the room Mila found herself at a loss for words, at least until she was asked to identify the sort of pokemon the two humans carried, and although she complied she wouldn't be satisfied without an explanation. She heard Vandal out, but wasn't pacified by his words. That being said she didn't immediately demand she be left out of his plans either, even if she didn't sanction his methods Vandal did make a point, it was entirely possible that she could find more about her trainer here. "Alright," she conceded, sticking to her telepathy for now. "Let's just.. get this over with." It was getting dark, and so the faster they finished this the better off they'd be.

Unfortunately, though, she didn't have much of a choice; she was hungry, and tired, and by the time they had finished eating, she was having a hard time keeping her already-narrowed-and-glaring-at-the-world eyes open. Ultimately (with a bit of prodding from Elle), she conceded to getting some sleep. She woke up, shaking her head warily, and quickly making her way into the bathroom to take a shower and get dressed.
