((Well, the Ball last night was...Interesting, to say the least. XD))
PostPosted: Tue Jan 02, 2007 11:27 am

<>

Silent. Empty. Barren. Last night was probably one of the best in a long time for the establishment, but today, it was as though it had never happened. Thankfully everyone had kept themselves well behaved. No one lay spread out randomly on the bar, stage, or floor, too drunk to wake up. There were no spilled drinks, broken bottles, or drinking glasses. In fact everything was more or less in order save a few empty ignored glasses that no one had ever requested a drink with.

Keno walked about lazily for a moment, quite satisfied with everything that had taken place. He had seen so many people, even if only just for a moment, and of course his dear little niece and two sisters had made him feel lighter than air despite the dramatic turnout for Miyuki. He would have to pay her a visit soon to see how she was doing, but it would be months before she brought the life within her to the world. He had time, and so did Damion to clean up his act and deal with his own problems.

With everyone safely out of the way, he decided it was okay to bring the tables and chairs back. He double checked as though someone might be able to evade his senses before taking slow and unmotivated steps toward the hallway.

"The ball isn't over yet KenoTao. Not until I say so." She slipped in between the main doors and the floor in liquid form, her body reconstructing itself as it rose into a pillar that slowly molded itself to match every curve of her body perfectly. She was dressed differently, the same as he, but it seemed she had some unfinished business with him. She was determined to get what she wanted from him and if that meant she had to tear this entire club down she'd do it. Her steps were precise and they clicked against the floor, echoing out in the expanded emptiness that now made up the room.

Another light melody began to pick up as she approached him, her hips swayed from left to right, tantalizing the very air around her, creating a perfume of lust to captivate the senses of weaker men. Her tail flicked respectively like a cracking whip in the air, silent but fatal, a quiet warning to people too stupid to read further into it. Stopping about halfway she awaited him, her body demanding him to step forward. He had better not dare to pretend he didn't understand. They would have the last dance.

Quite a shame she couldn't always behave with such civility. He rather enjoyed it. Stopping just short of the corridor he turns to see you-know-who approaching him with the same fierce intensity she bored whenever she sought to kill him. So confident and sure of herself she was. She had ambition like none other, and the muscle to back it up, but her form was lacking something. She'd never beat him, and as such she had a lot of nerve to stand there in silence, demanding anything of her. Or perhaps he was the fool for thinking he had the upper hand. She might not be able to defeat him, but this place was his home and she was more than capable of turning into a giant broken pile of permafrost if he defied her.

He did not grace her with a verbal response, but rather shrugged and took his careful steps toward her, as though he had something to fear. He stopped just one foot in front of her and met the cold intense gaze she would never tame. Her eyes said so much, his said nothing. He felt nothing for a moment or two, but afterward the blank stare was just a mask. He saw no reason to show sympathy, pity...sadness. She would not care for him to anyway.

She was an inch taller than him, though his hair did stand to meet hers almost level. His left hand planted itself firmly on her waist as he felt her right hand grip his shoulder. It was a graceful touch, just as his was. He was surprised. His right hand and her left intertwined and slowly they began to dance. He had no idea why she felt the need to prove that she could do this, but the sooner it was over, the better.

She found her body spinning in orchestrated circles immediately. He was a good lead. Damn him. Though she didn't want him to be incompetent, part of her wished he was bad at this. Why did he excel just as much or more in everything she did as well? The only thing she did that he didn't was play with water, but he countered that by toying with air. She hated him.

"I see you're more popular here than I imagined. You've got quite the social network." Her words could have turned his shoulder into ice they were so cold. If only she could bring him to his knees now she would, but he was not as weak as the average man who walked the city streets waiting for someone like her to come around. Try as she might, she wouldn't be able to get to him through seduction.

She awaited his response as they twirled around to the song just for two. She felt cold inside. Bitter. Empty. This dance was never meant to relax her and in all reality would only be the beginning of a bad day for her. Why did she have to do this?

Her comment drew a look of disappointment on his face. Was she stupid or something? To say such a thing as though his situation were uncommon. Perhaps it was to be expected from their different stations in life, but that made it no easier to understand for him.

"Well of course I do. What you thought I kept myself exclusive to my lover and sisters? Or maybe you assumed I only had a small group of friends outside of my immediate ties?" He would never comprehend how this woman was so content on her own. He never understood how anyone could be happy that way. No one he knew ever really lacked social partners or had only so few. Her entire existence was an enigma that he was sure he'd rather leave untouched. How could he do that though when she kept forcing herself upon him?

"Why though? Why do you need to know so many people? What could they possibly do for you in the end? You can always have not enough, but you can also have too much." They parted, connected only by their hands and soon they returned, her body spinning into his, her back against his chest. Out once more and back to the beginning, the end of one dane and the start of another.

His face was completely hidden, but she had seen the changes to his body. She could feel the difference in his aura. He had become more powerful than he had been months before and it angered her. She too had trained, but he was still so far ahead of her. She seemed to be skipping while he was leaping. There had to be some end to it all somewhere down the line.

His frown only deepened at her words. He did not wish to have this talk. She could not sway him and he would not bend her. Neither of them were right, and in the end their paths were nothing more than steps on a ladder. Regardless of which is your favorite, they all lead to the same place in the end.

"There is never a such thing as too many friends, especially for warriors. More people means more ideas, greater potential, more possibilities. A single mind can to great things, but it is still a single mind, and against many minds, it is useless. Friends are more than minds Red. They are people and therein is the issue. People have responsibilities in life. They have their own goals and ambitions, their own relationships, and at any given time, those things can step into their lives and draw them away from you when you need them most. It is always better to have someone else to carry the slack than to force the few that know you to carry a larger load."

Spin. Spin. Twirl. Step. Right. Left. Right. Left. At least killing wasn't the only thing she could do. There was enough humanity in her to at least a basic normal lifestyle that wasn't obsessed with his demise. A shame he could only think such things and never say them.

"If what you said is true, then your friends aren't really your friends. They are merely allies, comrades, a number of soldiers in your army that you can call into action as needed. They show you what you cannot see, listen to what you cannot hear, explain what you do not know, and do what you cannot do. They have ranks and positions that correlate to their place in your heart." Her body felt rigid but it moved like a kite in the wind, and before she could be sure of it, he was dipping her dangerously low. The song had ended as well and she was staring at him in vicious silence. As he rose she let go of him, releasing her body from his hold and backing away.

"Only the weak need so many soldiers. It is better to have a few well trusted allies than so many loosely tied 'friends,' and don't pity my saying so. My comrades know what they are to me and they're still there. How would your so called friends react if you told them they were just replaceable soldiers?"
PostPosted: Tue Jan 02, 2007 12:17 pm

"There is nothing to react to because I would never tell them that. I would never tell them that because they aren't soldiers, they're friends. Open your heart a bit more Red. Find someone and love them. Just one. You'll forever be in pain until you do." With the music dying and his body returned to him as though he had just loaned it out, he escorted it back to the hall. He had nothing further to say to her, and her last few words could be heard on her way to the door should she speak.

Perhaps he was wasting his time pitying such a soul, but he really did not want another rival with the fierce and intense hatred for him that User had. This woman would never grow to respect him, he was sure, until he was dead. Unfortunately for her he wouldn't be doing that any time soon and he knew for a fact that kitsune lived thousands of years. He did not need someone having that big a grudge on him for that long. He didn't want it.

"Don't preach to me about love when yours were the hands that took such people away from me in the first place. It is because of you that I am what I am and it is far too late to try and change that now, so don't even bother because I will kill you myself unless you finally resolve to kill me and rid yourself of my presence." She spun on her heels a bit irritated as she made her way for the door. The man was so simple, so naive it seemed, despite his age and his experiences. How did such a simpleton...

She gave him far too little credit and she knew it. To reduce the man to having the immature mindset of an adolescent was an insult to her borthers' memory. Whatever he may be, he was a fool above all. A damn stupid fool. Her agenda was now set. The man had an army so it was the army that would lead her to him, one by one until he was the only one left.
