((I'm intrigued now. What do you consider Black? Black in the United states seems to automatically pertain to someone of negroid descent. I actually hate that word, but you can't designate much else because everyone can draw their origins back to Africa and melanin content in skin doesn't hold much water.))

((Sorry about this heavy influx of racial politics. My bachelors is in African American studies with a concentration of education so we are delving into an area I've spent much time studying.))

< Black society is the offspring of a culture that had to evolve from traditional African customs. I've never come across an African that struck me as "black" and I've never crossed a black person that made me think "African." That's really the only difference. Blacks don't have real ties to Africa outside of what they might study (or learn on a pilgrimage back to the homeland), or be taught by someone who is African.>>

((I'm 25 and I've lived in the United States for the past 20 and a half years so I can be considered just as much american as I can be called a Ghanaian. I am very proud of my origins and I have actually been to school back home in Ghana.))

Anyway, not having ever lived as an African, I only call myself African American out of habit. I feel that I do people actually of African origins (not ancestral) an injustice claiming to be one of them, whether for better or for worse.

<<-nuzzlesIchi- I have a friend nowadays who is always drinking margaritas just because she can, but then she's only two months 21 so...iuno maybe that'll die. God only knows if she's ever sober now that school's out. I haven't visited her in weeks because she's always having a drinking social which I just don't want to be involved in.
And apparently champagne tastes bad too. Great. =_=>>
