Rowan Cameron

Rowan shot Jack a scathing look at the remark, but didn't comment. He had more important things to worry about than a mere ruffian trying to rub elbows with him and Elex. Because, surely, that was what this all was; Someone trying to get in good graces with his betters. Why else bother? The boy in tights most certainly didn't belong with Rowan, his brother, and Elex.

Elex's near encounter with the Spider had Rowan's heart beating heavily in his chest as he saw the blood begin to mar the shirt the boy wore. With haste, Elex moved to cover the wound with a hand and Rowan hesitated. It didn't seem too bad, blood didn't appear to be pooling between Elex's thin fingers. Rowan was far from being medically trained but assumed that the wound would hold until they were out of danger. So he flashed the boy a questioning look before hurrying off to his brother who was attempting to fend his own spider away.

"Trey. Just kick it or something." He said as he drew closer to his elder brother. "Don't just stare at it." The pale facade spoke volumes. Rowan was well aware of his brother's distaste for the eight-legged creatures, but coming face-to-face with one so large it seemed to have struck a nerve. "Trey. Move!" He yelled trying to shock his brother into motion.

Rowan had been so focused on his brother that he had missed the approach of a spider from his left. The creature stalked the purple-haired dancer, ignoring the chaos around it as other people worked to fend off more of the arachnids.

Just as the creature sprung into action, Rowan caught sight of it, but it was far too late. The over-sized Halloween decoration was on top of him, knocking him to the ground, and spiny claws dug into Rowan's left upper leg. The creature's fangs glistened and dripped with saliva, or Rowan hoped it was saliva, as the spider loomed over top of him. Bit and pieces of the frothing mucus dripped down onto the teen's shirt and immediately began melting away the fabric.

"Help!" Rowan attempted to kick his way free with his unpinned leg. He felt the impact of hard carapace on top of his foot and the spider seemed to hiss in anger.

In haste, Rowan tried to extract his leg from the creatures grasp. This action proved to be a bad decision as the spider instead decided to snap out at him, biting his hip in the process.

Rowan yelled in pain, the two fang pierce holes seeping blood as the creature pulled it's fangs away. A hand flew down to try and cover the wounds as if he could stop the bleeding. "Damn." He said through clenched teeth and he threw his head back in pain. "Trey! Elex!"

More of the foamy liquid dripped onto Rowan's chest as he tried to punch the spider in its multiple eyes but fell short.

Gweneth Malley (+1 w/ stake)

Gwen was pretty damn sure that whatever he had just vomited was purely alcohol and she needed to look away swiftly to keep herself from a gagging reflex. It was, to be frank, a very sad sight indeed to see a grown man, dressed as a scantily clad cat, so drunk he could barely stand. Wait. No. So drunk that he fell to the grass talking about the spiders wanting cats and....who else knows what.

She turned away from her ex as he began bemoaning and talking while in the grass. The motion of spiders making their way over the hedges was more than enough to pull her attention from the spectacle. The creatures were honing in on their prey and Gwen held her stake tight. Ready to attack when needed.

One of the creatures eyes her from afar, at least....she thought it eyed her. It was hard to say but it moved in her direction. Perhaps it had been focused on someone else, Isaiah maybe, but Gwen was able to take the creature by surprise with the weapon in her hand. The stake she thrust at its face, managing to hit one of its mandibles. Crying out the spider reeled at her. Gwen prepared to dodge when she felt a hand, begin to make it's way up her body as did the weight of someone leaning on her. Did he just really use me like some sort of pole? "The hell?!" Che cursed at him.

Her change in focus meant she got sprayed with the nasty ichor from the spider's mouth. The spittle ate away at her already rather skimpy black dress. Thankfully the most important bits stayed in tack. Wasting no time, Gwen swung out with the stake and racked the creature right across the eyes. It screeched and wailed as it moved to make a hasty retreat. If there wasn't the legitimate fear that if she left Isaiah he'd faceplant in the grass again she would have gone after the beast. "You realize right, that there is no ******** way I am letting you go home tonight by yourself. Especially if you drove."

Daniel Alvarez-Garcia - Skeletal Mariachi with Painted Skull

Really. Really.

"BURRO." Daniel spat, the boy shifted to shelter Owen and swung, punching the spider in one eye roughly, the buick-spider dazed and vaguely confused as the teen began wailing on it. Chibi Massalia was useless and stupid, but Daniel was angry and protecting Owen andthis was utter bullshit. The boy continued to kick, wincing a bit as the spider lashed at him roughly, trying to turn him into a Daniel-kebab. Sure, the boy was angry and being dumb -- but he had people relying on him!

Yolanda Hydrus - Ser Zephirin

The spider that dropped in front of them was dazed, confused, and Yolie had to admit... Seemed slightly drunk. Still, it was still dangerous, and Yolie flinched beside Rey, before rapidly focusing on dodging, remaining near the man protecting her (such a gentleman, if he had a girlfriend she was lucky, if not, HOW) from these. Still, piuckle-barrel or not, she made it to let her move -- mostly, because the character could. It had been an easy thing to ensure, and now, somehow, despite intent for things like random cosplay photos with her sisters (Why did Lana want to be the Warrior ofd Light?? Her half sister made her sad) it was paying off in...

Spiders.

This city was crap some days.

"I think they're acid spitting!" Yoklie noted, then hesitated. "Now all I can think of is a boss from a Video Game.... Ugh... Chuchufart...."

Allison Abson - Airship ******** in the back was a bad idea, but necissary if it helped. The spider dropped roughly in front of Ally and hissed, acid spittling all around and spattering her limbs, burning small holes and causing spots of irritation. Ally growled, and moved, jumping for the spider to punch it with a growl, and winced, having to cut off rapidly to block a flailing limb with her arm.It slammed in, slicing once before it hit her like a blunt object from the side, Allison wincing as she snarled.

"Youson of a stupid--" and with her free arm, she grabbed the limb trying to push on hers with her free hand, and twisted.

The blow that slashed again and left another cut was totally worth injuring it in a ragefit. Ow.

OW.

Eta - + stake

If Buffy the Vampire Slayer had been filmed using cats as the stars then Eta would have been the Slayer. She kept the stake gripped in her teeth and when a rather large spider dropped down from the hedge maze she launched herself at it-- in the name of defending Felix, of course. The slender feline moved quickly, dropping the stake briefly to keep her movements quick only to pluck it back up and jab at a spider again. Take that Sarah Michelle Geller.

Cordelia Carden

"Abby is..." She started to answer because he'd asked a question that gave her something else to think about, something else to focus on. It made her pause just long enough to draw in a breath as she tried to clear her mind of everything save for the immediate moment. Panic wouldn't get her anywhere. Fear wouldn't help.

"A friend. Abby's a friend. She talked me into coming tonight and I told her it would be a mistake, but Lys..." Lys was a flirt and likely to wander off and Abby hadn't wanted to be stuck somewhere on her own and yet...

"She's so-- She ran off and she's going to get herself hurt and..." Her pulse quickened again as a spider dropped down from the hedge, sending her stumbling back into Fritz again as a spindly leg jabbed at her. The pointed end caught her leg, scraping at her thigh just below the hem of her dress. Its mandibles clicked as it bared its fangs, poison dripping from them as it tried to lunge in for a bite.

"It wasn't supposed to be like this."

Abigail Doyle

She had run off and it hadn't exactly been the best idea to do so. It had been her hope to find Lysander, or to do something other than play damsel in distress. Unfortunately, damsel in distress was about where she was left when one of the eight legged freaks happened upon her.

Somewhere lost in the hedge maze, Abigail screamed as a spider slashed at her, taking off one of her flats to throw it at the creep of a creature-- not her best idea, honestly, and not really effective either. All it seemed to do was egg the monster on. <********>.

Michiko Wakahisa X

Michiko screamed as spider legs came out at her as she tried to get out of the maze and the spiders spit at her some of the acid getting on her butterfly wings back and arms. This was too real, this felt too real, she was freaking out a little bit. She didn't know what to think this was all really strange, she felt like she was in one of her dreams where the darkness was coming in trying to take everything she loved. This didn't feel like a game anymore. This couldn't be a game there were people throwing up and seeing things how had this happened!! Michi frantically looked around to make sure Toby was still with her.

Reynard (has stake) 5 + 1 = 6

When the spider came over the hedge at him and Yolanda, Rey was ready - or... mostly so, anyway. The spider seemed less prepared than he had thought it would be; dazed somehow. Maybe even drunk? He couldn't help it, despite the tenseness of the situation, despite the very real danger... he snickered a little. Tugging the young lady behind him, he brandished his stake like a dagger, and ducked forward to try to find a good place to stab it.

He found a somewhat-promising looking soft spot and struck at it, drawing a pained reaction from the giant arachnid, but it recovered quicker than he was expecting. One of its legs stretched out, catching his chest and shirt and leaving a long but shallow scratch. Hissing at the pain of it, Rey glowered and tried to reassess the situation. He could maybe try to strike out at it again, but what if another spider came up from behind? He could hold this one off, but if another came, who would protect his companion?

Owen 7

No more spiders no more spiders! Owen whined, trying to keep behind Daniel but at the same time feeling awful for being unable to really do anything. He was just - too scared, and, and... He had to help Daniel, didn't he? It wouldn't be right to make him do all the fighting, even if it was - was spiders....

Squeaking, he wiggled out from behind the other boy and tried to punch at she spider, though he nearly pulled his hand back an away while he tried, so ended up merely swatting it a little - and managing to get acid drool on his arm in the process... which in turn made him squeal in fright again and duck back behind Daniel.

He was sorry he was, but he couldn't do this. He couldn't!

Cara (has stake) 8 + 1 = 9

When the spider dropped in front of them,Cara was ready. With it distracted - unfortunately by Ally, but she didn't have a lot to worry about with the way her schoolmate grabbed the spider by its leg and twisted it - she jumped at the walking bus and ducked between its legs to slam the spike at the point between its thorax and abdomen, rewarded by the monstrous spider rising up and trying to back away from the combined assault by dinner that was far too willing to fight back.

"You sure you wanna eat us?" Cara asked, grinning as she used the spider's recoil to pick herself up, still unharmed - for now, anyway. "Newsflash, spidey - we bite back." And she jumped at it again.

Man, if they got out of here, she was keeping this stake. It was going to be her new best friend. She'd name it Spike.

Tom and Jason Wolf (dressed up respectively as Sherlock Holmes and Watson respectively.) - both have metal stakes
They were fast-walking through the maze, trying to make it out, and trying to keep up with the spoiled teen that they had managed to get stuck with, and thought they were making some progress. Unfortunately they didn't know what direction the end of the maze was, so even if they thought they were going the right way, they could just end up on the other side of the maze with no exit. Too bad they couldn't just run through the bushes. "You know, instead of random metal stakes, why couldn't they have left random metal swords or machetes?" Tom asked as they made their way through.

Suddenly, a giant spider popped out over one of the hedges and hissed angrily at them, the acid from it's mouth dripping and it looked like it could burn through clothing. The two brothers were definitely glad that they hadn't worn anything that they really liked.

Tom launched himself first at it, determined to protect his little brother, and the brat, and managed to be hitting it quite well. He even seemed to be making some progress on defeating the creature! But, like that scene in Jurassic Park, Jason decided that it would be a better idea for the spider to attack him and yelled at it to come and get him. The spider, a bit woozy from Tom's attacks, started to go after the younger Wolf and Jason realized just what a mistake he had made, as Tom continued to beat on it. Luckily for Jason it didn't seem to be able to get to him that easily, but it did shred a bit of his clothing as he dodged its' legs and tried to hit it a few times. "Better stay back if you don't want to get hurt by this thing!" He said to Mahogany.

Derrick Keenan (dressed as Rick O'Connell from The Mummy) - metal stake
As fast as Derrick could help Gisela, they started to make their way through the maze. He sometimes looked behind him now and again to make sure that Gisela was able to keep up, but otherwise concentrated on trying to get out of this crazy place. Why would they make it so that the maze is the only way to get through to the other side?! He thought to himself as he started to get a bit more frustrated that they hadn't been able to make it out yet.

Suddenly, a spider came from over the tops of the hedges and raced towards them. Caliban though, with some great reflexes, managed to hit it a few times with his metal stake before it could get an attack in, and that seemed to discourage it a bit, though it kept attacking.

Sweenys_Revenge

Sweenys_Revenge

Sachio Sugiyama (dressed as BotW Link sans pointy ears) - metal stake
"Well, seems like even a dumb giant spider isn't a match for me." Sachio said, pretty much to himself, as he continued to get hit after hit on the spider. If only someone else was there to see him and how awesome he was being! He had been making his way through the maze, a bit slowly compared to other people since he knew that panicking and running around with no plan wouldn't get anyone anywhere, when suddenly a spider popped out from the top and went after him. Sachio had managed to get the first hit in though and from there it was easy!

Alphonse Wingates-St. Grey - +1

There it was - the source of the ethereal webs: a monstrous spider. As he had analyzed the silk from one of the spools he had noted that it looked organic like a creature had created it. Alphonse wasn't one to be afraid of animals - it was people he tended to be more fearful of - he knew something out of the ordinary must be behind this. He didn't want to strike the spider, but it didn't look like it was giving him an option. It stalked and shook and poised for a strike. He would have to strike first. He hated violence. He closed his eyes and raised the stake.

Roddy – dressed as a lionman COLLECTED METAL STAKE 5+1 = 6

"I'm fine, just as right as rain, Julian, don't you worry none at all." Roddy couldn't help but offer a comforting smile as they re-situated themselves. He was more than happy to have Julian rely on him as much as he needed to. That's what he was there for, to be that pillar of strength for the other man whenever he needed it. And right now it was especially important.

Right now, though, it looked like he was more of a junglegym, the way Julian scrambled up him, and he was ready for it, arm poised to wrap around the other and keep him safe, but to his surprise the man pulled away of his own accord and began to attack the monster. Roddy wouldn't allow himself to fall behind either, so with spike in hand, he charged at the spider, digging this spike into it's head and narrowly missing a swipe at him with a furry leg.

Somehow, a bit of spit ended up on him, fizzling at this clothes and burning a whole straight through his sleeve. Rather than deal with it in panic, the large man only grabbed his sleeve and ripped it clean off, tossing it to the side. No harm, no foul! There was still a beast to be taken care of.

--------------

Nischal -- Dressed like Most recent iteration of Aquaman - 3

Nischal felt incredibly bad for dragging Jason around like he had. He hadn't given the other a choice besides to go into the maze, the entire places' hive mind herd leading him into bad decisions. When he finally stopped, it wasn't by choice, but by a spider lunging out at them. Jason did manage to push him out of the way, but... Just as they entered into the maze, another one lunged out!

"GAH!!" Nischal squeaked, the fangs of a particularly ravenous spider digging deep into his legs, it's foaming venom forming holes into his pants and a bit of blood dribbled out from the bite. The beast's movements were enough to tear their hands apart, which was just as well, since that meant that Jason would be able to go free. "JASON RUN!!"

In the end, despite the panicking, Nischal was much more invested with Jason getting out of here alive than himself. With this monster distracted by his rather delicious calf, maybe there was a chance. To try to distract it further, Nischal tried to smash his free heel into it over and over again, trying to loosen it's grasp on him. So far, he had no luck as it only attached itself further, the furry legs coming up to twist around him and slowly inch it's way up his body.

Toby Yates* (Dressed like Elf Kirito) (has +1 Metal Stake)

(Rolled a 5+1 a few posts back)

This thing isn't fake! Toby decided...rather unnecessarily, as it practically dropped on top of him from over the hedge maze. Before he'd even had a chance to really get a grip of what was going on, some of the weird acid stuff dripped down onto him, and instantly started burning through his jacket sleeve.

That got him to shout in surprise, and slash somewhat wildly with his spike. It connected with one of the legs over him, although he wasn't completely aware of what he'd hit...just that it was enough to get the thing to back up, briefly. It gave him just enough room to get away with a very undignitfied scramble in the direction of Michi, that got cut short with another yelp as a spider leg clamped down on his costume's cape. "Geh!" he sputtered in surprise, and frantically tugged at where it was tied onto him to hopefully get it off.

Rayna Farrell - as Wednesday Addams

At first it looked like Rayna had gotten away without without any conflict at all. The teen thought that was perhaps for the best as her shoulder had begun to throb about two turns back. With the intensity of the pain Rayna had to assume that it was possible she had aggravated the wound that had been healing nicely up to this point. With her left hand she gently clutched her injured limb and pressed forward. When running towards the maze she had not had the chance to marvel at how large it might have been. The goal before the spiders had attacked was to get to the center of the structure. Was that still the objective here or was just getting out of the maze alive the goal?

So lost in her thoughts and pain making her susceptible to lapses in concentration that it took her precious seconds to realize that she was no longer alone in the maze. Rayna backed up a step as the spider that had just dropped over the hedge wall advanced menacingly on her. Her hands went over her ears in an attempt to block out the noises that the arachnid was making. As her ears were covered nothing could block the frothy spit that landed on her costume. A few droplets landed on the bare skin of her arms and near her face. While the spit on her costume was causing a smouldering effect on the clothes it seemed only to produce a sensation akin to something like the itch one would experience with hives or poison ivy. Unpleasant as it was, it was bearable.

What was not bearable was the spider's leg that swept Rayna's feet from under her causing her to crash to the ground. Yelping in shock and then in pain the teen fought to right herself or at least get off her back. More legs came into play as the spider hovered over the downed teen. Two more appendages managed to pin each shoulder to the ground and Rayna could no longer hold in the panic that was coursing through her body. A scream was torn from her as the leg pinning her right shoulder down actually caught and tore through her flesh. But that was not the worst pain to come...

Seeing as she was effectively pinned like an doomed insect the spider hissed in triumph and with hardly any effort on its part managed to sink its fangs into the girl's left side. Fangs that were as long and sharp as steak knives found no resistance from the dress that Rayna had worn that evening. Agony beyond anything she'd ever experienced, even as her powered self, flooded through the teen. She needed help. At any other time she would have struggled more, given more fight to her opponent but it wasn't going to be that way tonight. A pure scream of terror was torn from her.

"Oh gods! Get it off me! Someone help me!"

Rayna's struggles lessened as the pain became too intense. Envenomed, wounded and pinned to the ground by a giant arachnid. Was this how she was going to die?

Izobel Beckett (Black Widow from Marvel)

Oh s**t! Oh, so not wanting to meet one of those things

Because it was something that Izobel didn't want to do of course everyone's dear old friend "Murphy" decided that hey, she needed company. The redhead was dismayed to be caught off-guard by her arachnid visitor. The noise it made was intolerable and yet Izzy knew that if she tried covering her ears it would open her up to a greater chance of injury. As it was she didn't have anything to really fight back with unless you counted branches torn from the hedges that formed the walls. Izzy was thinking that it would be her last resort. Either way she realized that she wasn't gonna come out of this thing unscathed. Watching the arachnid closely Izzy was still surprised when frothy spit landed on her costume. At witnessing the clothing burn on contact she made a mental note not to touch the substance if it could be helped. Knowing and yet not doing though was hard as more spit landed on her. "Yuck,"

A leg arched towards her suddenly and Izobel tensed up. Her first guess was that it would be wanting a quick end to the standoff and yet as she crouched low to the ground she was disappointed that she had guessed incorrectly. The spider's leg had quickly retreated only to have another one snag her feet. Pain bloomed along her calf muscle and she warily backed away. She could feel the burn of her newest injury and it was definitely going to slow her down. Spotting a rock on the ground Izobel picked it up and lobbed it towards the spider in a hope of at least doing some damage to it. The rock thudded against the creature and it hissed in anger and Izobel knew that the time to act was now. It was possible that to linger would be deadly and she began to limp around the corner. Though it was perhaps foolhardy to turn one's back on an opponent Izobel knew she needed to put distance between herself and the arachnid lest it come after her again. The wound on her leg was definitely slowing her down and only after a few seconds of walking did it give out on her. She slumped against the maze wall and began to pull branches down from the hedges behind her Izobel prepared to make a final stand.

Kathryn McAdams - not dressed up ((metal stake + 1 to roll))

Kathryn had been trying to keep track of her bearing in the maze but hearing random shouts of those that were taking siege or giving siege to the spider army was more than a little distracting. Still wielding the metal stake that she had found outside the entrance she was cautiously exploring the layout as best as she could. It was perhaps fortunate that she was paying attention as she had seen the start of eight legs climbing over a hedge in front of her. Gritting her teeth at the thought of the battle to come Kathryn gripped the stake in front of her. At least she wasn't totally helpless. As the arachnid landed in front of her Kathryn noted that the creature seemed like it didn't see her at first. Could she take the fight to it in this scenario?

Rushing forward Kat swung the stake back and forth in front of her before attempting to jab the stake into the abdomen section. As she rushed forward it almost seemed to "wake" the spider from its dazed state and Kathryn had to fling herself out of the way of the legs it suddenly brought into play as it swiped at where she had been standing moments ago. "Okay, so that didn't work."

Brushing herself off quickly Kathryn noticed that the spider had begun to spray a frothy spit in her direction and as it came into contact with her clothes the material began to literally melt. "Okay then, that was just bought creep."

Avoiding the legs for the most part Kathryn waded in with her metal stake and jabbed at the underbelly portion of the spider .. effectively driving it back the way it had come. As it was flailing about one leg caught Kathryn's side and although painful she continued to put on a front. She'd not give in, not even an inch.

Soon her path was spider free and she moved forwards as she kept her right arm close to her body. Dang those feet were sharp.
