His determination was unmatched. No mere earthen structure could match the will of the child of the abyss. He had discovered the vein once more, now that it was a hole that one deep enough to stand a foot into. Rota smiled wide as he stored away the useable coal and stone ad resumed his work. He wondered, as his pick was coming down, if this was how his father got his start. Mining for all of his own materials, the only limit on what he could make being the force of his will and judgment of his fortune. Regardless, if ROTA was to get his start, he would need to become more fortunate than now. A sword of coal would be interesting, but not battle conducive.

Rota loved being rewarded for his hard work. He widened his makeshift mineshaft and not only found a load of useable stone, but FAR more useable coal, iron, and a material he hadn't even SEEN yet. It looked important, so he stored it with all of the other useable materials. He had completed his task with relative ease, but he wasn't anywhere near done yet. he needed WAY MORE iron than what he had, not even counting even more coal than that for himself. He returned to the village to dump off the coal that she wanted, and returned as fast as he could to his mine to continue the hunt.

Rota returned to the village, feeling the sting of failure and bewilderment of where he went wrong. He couldn't shake it. There had to be more to that mine, but for now he was somewhat content with the materials he got. He found a way to store his pickaxe, and removed his armor and cloak for cleaning, biding his time until Alyx arrived. He put his gear on, his cloak fluttering in the light breeze as he wondered what tasks would give him the greatest benefit right now.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 30, 2015 12:57 am

Alyx logged in wearing his first set of equipment, re-accustoming himself to the feeling of his heavy armor, and the weight of his shield on his arm. Moving his sword from his belt to the sheath in his shield, he looked around. Spotting Rota, he nodded. He hadn't heard from anyone else in a while, so it looked like he and Rota were just going to have to go on without them. Today seemed like it would be about boars, since they'd handled the spider quests. That would help Rota get a little further into his levels, and one step closer to being ready for the dungeon. Alyx was growing anxious, ready to continue with his quest. Having a little help would not be a totally bad thing. He approached the swordsman and waved. "So you survived, eh?"

Rota spotted Alyx after a while and waved. Seeing a familiar face after the mining adventure was a breath of fresh air. "Yeah, seems like it. Even got a new cloak out of the deal. It suffices for now, but I know that I can do WAY better than this." nHe continued to think of the best things to do. He had no coal so smithing of any kind was out. He supposed that hunting was the best course of action then, since he didn't want to wast Alyx's time with gathering quests he could easily do on his own.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 30, 2015 10:20 pm

Alyx nodded. "Then I suppose that means we need to train a bit more. Are you ready to take another crack at the boars?" Alyx blinked as he received an alert. An administrator's alert. A hacker was on the loose, and was playerkilling with his hacked stats. Alyx grinned. That would be a pleasant distraction, if he could somehow work it into the day. He had a vague idea of where the offender was, but no specific location as yet. He seemed to be hiding his location from the system, but they knew that he was in a general vicinity. For the time being. Alyx was torn between duty and concern. Dragging Rota into a situation like that would not be the safest option, but leaving the hacker to his own devices meant allowing the deaths of more players, which was something he couldn't abide. He decided to compromise. They were to be hunting boar today. He could use that as an excuse to try and catch the man in the act.

Rota nodded. "That sounds like a plan. I have been working towards a few things in your absence, so I should be just about ready to go do that." He had his sword shouldered as usual, observing the surroundings when he thought he saw an emotional tick on Alyx's face. Rota put it at the back of his mind. People have their own thought processes, so it could easily have been just a stray thought and nothing more.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 30, 2015 11:23 pm

Alyx nodded. Then perhaps we will make short work of the boars, and be on to larger prey. By the way, I found something that you might be able to appreciate more than I can." Alyx held out his hand and a massive sword appeared in with a flash of light. He held the hilt out to Rota. "Be careful. The blade is infused with the venom of the Gloomweave Spiders." The blade seemed out of place in Alyx' hand, despite clearly meshing with his theme. Rota may have noticed that Alyx' ensemble had received something of an upgrade, with the addition of a brooch that fastened his cloak that featured a small Gloomweave Spider of interesting coloration.

Name:Gloomweave Greatsword
Type: Two hand straight sword
Durability: 3
Stats: +4 damage
A greatsword with a pale, sickly looking blade. The hilt is wrapped in spider silk and the crossguard is a Gloomweave Spider's head, the blade emerging from the space directly inbetween the fangs of the spider, which drip venom that flows along the blood grooves that run the length of the blade. Any attack on an enemy will deal 1 point of damage per turn for three turns. Multiple doses of venom stack.

Rota took the blade. It looked like a fang that had been broken off of a spider of enormous size. Its blade was the same color of the carapace of the gloomweave spiders, and when he stabbed it into the ground, a small pool of venom was left in its wake, only to be absorbed into the dirt moments later. He shouldered the finely crafted blade in place of his old one, and smiled. "Well, any more gifts like this and you'll make me start to feel inadequate. Thank you." He recalled two missions the villagers wanted him to take care of, and kept them in mind for the road ahead."My old piggy nemeses await. Shall we?"

Alyx waved a hand dismissively. "Nah. You'll outgrow it soon enough. You'll get something better soon, no doubt." He set off into the woods, conscious of exactly what direction he was walking in. He had confidence in Rota's abilities, but maybe getting a little hunting out of the way before stumbling across the hacker would be a smart idea. The hacker was level five, and that was the level Alyx was able to really start hunting bears. Hell, he was level five when he fought beside Abaddon. Rota was not that powerful yet. And the hacker's abilities made him even more dangerous than a normal level five. Perhaps having company along on this fight would not be a bad thing.

Alyx found a boar foraging through the undergrowth, and pointed it out to Rota before charging in and deciding to treat this the same way he'd treated the spiders; opening with a shield bash.

Rota thought about how his equipment would upgrade. He had a rather rag-tag set of equipment, he had to admit. The only name he would earn himself this way would be 'Lord of The Thrift Store'. That had to change. He just had to find the right creature. And lo and behold should a Boar charge up from the undergrowth. This was going to be fun, fighting his old enemy once more. the only creature to challenge him thus far.

Rota flourished his new blade in his hands as he moved in for a strike. He felt the fang sink in deep as he dragged it along the boar's body, leaving the wound oozing with venom. He stood at the back of the Boar, daring it to try and fight him like its predecessor did.

The boar's HP dropped like a stone, and it was at half health with a massive heap of poison damage draining its color like its healthbar had sprung a leak. Alyx smiled as he watched the effects of their poison combine to wreak havoc on the poor creature. Working together like this, with this much poison... Oh it was going to be a good feeling to get that spider pet. Maybe even another ring. Perhaps he needed to look into weaponsmithing in order to upgrade , if he wasn't having any luck finding a better poison sword. But one thing was sure; he wanted to deal poison damage. It felt amazing. He remembered when he used to play a warlock. His favorite thing in the world had been stacking DOTs until his enemies simply withered away.

Alyx decided that Rota was not in need of coddling any longer, and that it was better he get some experience surviving the hits that Alyx could not block. Alyx decided to use his blade instead of his shield, slashing across the boar's face with a backhanded cut. The boar tried to turn and run, but its legs were bound to the earth by thick cords of spider silk.

Rota watched the Boar drain its energy trying to run from the combined might of the twin swordsman who had found it. It was latched to the ground by tendrils of spider silk, so there was no chance of it going anywhere. Rota Lifted his sword above his head with a surge of power, and descended it upon the pitiful creature with as much might as he could muster.

Rota felt his blade sink deep into the left flank of the boar as he saw it still trying desperately to wiggle away and free itself from its bindings. There was little to no chance of the Boar's survival now.

Alyx slashed across the boar's face, and Rota cleaved an entire leg off the beast as it exploded into shards of light. Alyx nodded. "Looks like the sword is working out well for you." He figured they could finish the boar hunt quest before returning to camp. "I heard the cook's assistant asking around for some help to thin out the boar. He suggested about five. Did he ask you for help?" Alyx needed to make sure they weren't wasting their time. He wanted to streamline this as efficiently as possible. The higher they got Rota's level, the quicker they could advance. Alyx was growing restless in the Gloomwood. He jokingly worried he was close to losing his name.

Name: Rota

Rota shouldered his sword, knowing full well of the Boar's defeat. "Not only did the assistant ask for my help, but the cook himself. Since the cook only asked for one boar to be slain, I might return there to report and see what he gives me as a reward." This was amazing. An enemy that taught him the ropes of how to fight just got destroyed from his might. Rota's journey truly had come a long way in a short amount of time. He cracked his neck in triumph, knowing there was nothing that could ruin this moment.
