Name: Bob and Weave!
Questgiver: Weaponmaster
Prerequisites: None
Objectives:
Evade once
Parry once
both in the same battle
Rewards 100 gil

You approach the Weaponmaster, a scarred and battle-hardened man in a suit of metal armor, wearing a shield and a longsword. "Welcome to Hell, newcomer. You're in the same boat as the rest of us. We're stuck here, and we don't know why. There's only one way to go, and that's forward.

There will be many perils on the long road ahead, and my job is to prepare you for the task of surviving them. The secret to surviving an attack from your opponent is not to get hit in the first place. Dodging or parrying --blocking the opponent's attack with your own weapon-- are vital to your survival. Learning to weave those techniques into battle will at least make you last a little longer. Go out and practice.

I recommend heading toward Gloomweave Cave and picking off a few of the spiders there. You look like you might be able to handle that. If I don't see you again, then I will know that I was wrong."

Name: Bear Necessities
Questgiver: Weaponmaster
Prerequisites: Bob and Weave!
Level 2
Objectives: Form a party with another player and kill a bear together.
Rewards 400 gil

"So you survived the Gloomweave Spiders, eh? You have some actual potential, then. Most people can't even take those things. So you want a real challenge, then? Why don't you challenge a bear, then? Foul, diseased creatures, bears, and rabid to the core. Vicious monsters, and enough of a challenge for even myself that you should probably take a friend with you. Be careful. We lose a lot of warriors to the bears."

Name: Suit Up!
Questgiver: Tailor
Prerequisites: None
Objectives: 1 post, constructing a cloak from one bolt of cloth.
Rewards 1 helmet (cloak), +1 roll2

As you approach the Tailor, you notice that he is a small, rather round man working quite intently on sewing two pieces of cloth together. "Oh! Hello! I suppose you're one of the new arrivals? Splendid! Oh, look at you! Those clothes are all wrong. How about we make you a traveler's cloak, eh? Something to keep the cold and the damp at bay, at least.

But you're not getting off that easy. I'll need your help. Let's get your measurements, and then we can get started."

Objectives: 1 post to produce a skinning knife
Rewards: 1 skinning knife

The Weaponsmith is a woman wearing a heavy black apron and working a red hot ingot of metal on an anvil. As you approach her, she wipes the sweat off of her sooty brow and plunges the metal back into the forge.

"That's a fair weapon you've got there. But every good warrior needs a knife. How about we make you one? But don't expect it for free; you'll have to work for it."

Name: Love Shack
Questgiver: Carpenter
Prerequisites: None
Objectives: 1 post to produce a wall
Rewards: +1 carpentry

You come upon a man working to plank wood. He wipes his brow and looks at you. "Hey, there. Interested in learning a new skill? Come here." He beckons you closer. "I'm planning a surprise for the Alchemist. You see, ever since she got here, she's been working out of that little lean-to, and the wind and rain always mess with her experiments. I want to surprise her with an actual shop building, and if you would help me, I would appreciate it greatly. If you could help me start to put the walls together, you would be doing me an incredible favor. I'm just working on making enough planks to finish the house with. It's really easy. The planks are right there, and all you need is to nail them together. I'll fill in the cracks later. Thank you so much. I want to get it up before the next rain."

Name: Bow to Me
Questgiver: Woodworker
Prerequisites: None
Objectives: 1 post to produce a bow
Rewards: 1 bow

You come upon a woman very carefully shaving wood from a stave. She smiles as you approach. "Hey there. Welcome to the Camp. I'm the Woodworker. I'm responsible for every bow in this area, and they're damn good bows. I make sure that everyone has one, so we can all help with hunting. And now that you're here, you'll need one, too. If you'll help me put the finishing touches on this one, I'll let you have it for free."

Name: Light My Fire
Questgiver: Weaponsmith
Prerequisites: None
Objectives: collect 5 pieces of coal and deliver them to the Weaponsmith
Rewards: 1 rookie pickaxe

The Weaponsmith looks up from her work. "Hello again! I'm going to have to ask you a favor. I'm running dangerously low on coal for the forge, and I have a huge order I need to fill. Could you take this pickaxe and go to Gloomweave Cave? There are natural coal deposits in the area, and you'd be doing me a huge favor if you could collect some for me. In fact, I'll pay you by weight for every piece you bring back. And you can keep that pickaxe for as long as you need. I've got plenty of them."

Name: Crystal Clear
Questgiver: Lightsmith
Prerequisites:
Objectives: collect 1 piece of quartz and deliver it to the Lightsmith
Rewards: +1 Lightsmith, 1 rookie healing crystal

A young woman working with an intricate system of metal rings and glass lenses stands before you. She works for some time before even realizing that you are there, and when she senses your presence, she looks up from her work, smiling.

"Hello there. Curious, isn't it? I'm sure you're wondering what exactly it is that I'm doing. Well, I'm Lightsmithing. Haven't you ever wondered what makes a Crystal work? What makes a little chunk of rock able to heal your wounds? Some people think it's magic. Bah! Magic would be boring. No, crystals work because they are infused with light in very specific ways. Learning to use a Lightforge is a relatively simple matter. You just have to memorize the settings for each crystal. And the quality of the crystal matters, too. I'd be happy to teach you how to use my Forge if you're willing to learn. You just have to provide the crystals. You can find a lot of them near the Gloomweave Cave, if you're looking. Bring me a few for my personal supply and I'll teach you how to make healing crystals."

Name: Get Wood
Questgiver: Cook
Prerequisites: None
Objectives: Collect 5 wood and deliver to the Cook
Rewards: 10 gil per piece

The Cook is a small, round man wearing a funny hat and a white apron. He stands underneath a large awning filled with cauldrons, pots, pans, and a large, flat griddle. He smiles, clasping his hands as you approach. "Hello, hello there! A newcomer, I take it? Welcome, welcome. Look, I don't mean to come off as needy, but I'm busy preparing for tonight's dinner, and my helper has fallen ill. This would not normally be a problem, except that I've run out of wood for the fire. If you could take this axe and gather some firewood for me, I would be forever grateful. I would gather it myself, but I'm far too busy preparing the food. If I stop now, it will never be ready in time for dinner."

Name: Shrooms
Questgiver: Cook
Prerequisites: Get Wood
Objectives: Gather 5 mushrooms and bring them to the Cook
Rewards: 10 gil per mushroom

"Oh, dear.. I'm afraid that in your absence I've discovered something most upsetting. My supply of mushrooms is too low to prepare my special dinner for tonight... Could you by any chance go into the woods and retrieve some for me? You will know you are getting close when you start seeing boars. Those blasted things love mushrooms."
