((sorry for the lack of activity. wasn't sure where to jump in.))

Edlyre shuffled through the bushes and despite the darkness, the moon cast a clear light on both parties. Their lanterns also helped to light the area as they spoke. Clearly the two were suspicious of the other. He could understand Blada's suspicion of strangers. The recent increase of fiends has gotten everyone more on edge and the conflict of interest in the village was getting people talking. He had never seen members of the hunter guardian corps and was rather interested in what they were doing in this area. Could they have finally given in and asked for the corp's assistance? It didn't seem the case based on the conversation at hand.

Edlyre was rather interested in how this would play out. How this conversation ended would certainly send a ripple of how others react. Were there more on the way? He wasn't sure. Since the future of the village also affected him, he wanted to know what this group wanted and if they meant well or as some suspected demanded tribute and loyalty.

"No," Dimitri spoke again, hoping to diffuse any hostility between their two groups. "One of our number," He gestured to the giant man on the aurochs. "Raegar here, discovered the pack while he was hunting alone. He came back to HQ and recruited a few of us that were available to come and help out with exterminating the fiends before they started causing any real damage. Though to be honest I think we could use some more numbers on our side if the last count on the pack is still accurate. If it's gone up since then then we could even more."

"That would be less fun for us though..." Fidessa pointed out casually as a joke towards Dimitri's concern. Fidessa yawned while Dimitri carried on words for her.

"There's something rustling around." Fidessa muttered quietly to herself while she half looked over her shoulder. She was certain it was not a fiend and most likely another villager by their presence. I guess it isn't important right now. If they don't want to come out and play then they don't have to. She concluded.

"Say, how about you all introduce yourselves!" Fidessa shouted and stepped in between her party and this woman who seemed to be their group's spokesman.

"I'll start with my band of buddies. My name is Fidessa! As you were just told, the giant over here is Raegar. He's nice, don't worry." As She gestured at Raegar as Dimitri did. "This sketchy-lookin' fella is Dimitri." As she pointed right at his face behind her. "That's Roger... And the other woman in charge of the wagon is Jeeves. She's a hottie." Fidessa proclaimed in her own amusement.

There was a bit of relief for Blada to learn that her father was not involved, but it did not entirely quell her concerns that the hunters were likely intending to work alongside Darkan’s soldiers if the opportunity presented itself. Her suspicions became even more real when the man named Dimitri spoke of needing more numbers, almost as though he were trying to extend a hand for Blada to shake.

Lloyd stepped forward and gave a slight bow after the woman named Fidessa had finished introducing her party. “The name is Lloyd, and this other fellow is Kendt. I’m a soldier of Darkan’s militia. I apologize for this little lady’s blunt words, she’s still pretty young so she still feels like the world is her playground…much like we all did when we were children. Her name is Blada.”

Blada shot a narrow-eyed glance at Lloyd – she didn’t recall saying anything particularly rude to the strangers. But since Lloyd seemed to have already set the stage for her to be “the rude one,” she decided to deliver her next words with unfiltered honesty.

“I’m sure you are all quite the friendly bunch, very great to work with. But we Darkaners are mostly…what’s the word?” Blada could hear Lloyd slapping his hand to his forehead in disapproval of her sudden redirection of the conversation – he knew exactly where she was going with this. “Isolationists, that’s it. We’ll handle the fiends on our own, without your help. So feel free to return to your---“

“Please, friends, ignore her,” Lloyd interrupted quickly, finally moving forward so that he was standing at the front of his group. “Although Blada’s words about isolationism ring true, we do not wish for you to completely abandon the woodlands. There are plenty of other villages in the area which are at risk for destruction at the hands of the fiends. However, unlike Darkan, these other villages are certainly unable to protect themselves. I have no intentions of fighting alongside you, but I am willing to tour you through this area and possibly guide you to the weaker villages I speak of.”

Lloyd then flashed a smile at Fidessa. “You seem to be a likeable crew, I wouldn’t mind spending some time with you. How do you all feel about this proposal?”

(( By the way Stoic, I was just wondering if you were planning on putting up Blada's character biography soon? razz ))

Edlyre finally emerged from the shrubs and dusted himself of leaves and twigs as the two groups began to lower their defenses against each other. He knew of some of the reports of the more isolated villages getting attacked but wasn't able to get much help from the village since they had their own concerns to deal with. Since these smaller villages didn't have warriors to protect them, they were often suspicious of outsiders and would not readily cooperate with him. He had some luck with a few, but most of the time, they were reluctant to become involved in fighting such things.

However tonight seemed to pose an opportunity for him. He had heard of the exploits of the Hunter x Guardian corps and perhaps this would be a chance to obtain more data on stronger fiends. The last time he tried to take on a fiend, he managed to escape due to a few tricks. However he was not able to properly fight and capture it. It was a frustrating experience and one that he didn't wish to repeat. However with the HxG he should be able to expand on his research and try some of his experimental tools as well.

"Sorry for the interruption. You did say you were of the Hunter x Guardian corps, yes?" he began with enthusiasm in his voice. "I am Edlyre. A shaman and researcher. Would it be possible for me to accompany you and learn more of these fiends? I've been looking for an opportunity for study them, but don't have the physical capabilities of dealing with the stronger ones. Of course I'll try to not get in the way whenever possible." he said hoping that they would accept his request.

((sorry for the mediocre post. wasn't really sure how to approach the group. Blada's group would probably only recognize him, but since he's an outsider, don't really pay much attention to him.))

((Yeah, I'll have to try to get that posted sometime. I have not posted Raolain's or Kurisutan's newest ones yet either...))

"If you feel that you have to protect your own village yourself then that's up to you. We'll help out the smaller villages. It's all the same as long as we can stop the fiends." Dimitri said.
When the man who introduced himself as Edlyre stepped out from behind some bushes Roger had one of his flintlocks half out of its holster before he could see that the man was clearly no threat.
"You can accompany us for now." Roger said. "When we return to HQ you can come with and apply to join."

((Guah... Can't...think...))

“Excellent. And I’m glad you understand; we truly have nothing against the Hunter Guardian corps, it’s more so about our customs,” Lloyd continued. He exchanged glances with Blada at that moment, as though expecting her to voice an objection.

Blada’s face tensed in thought as she carefully considered the terms of Lloyd’s proposal. She assured herself that this would be no more than a temporary friendship, and that it in no way signaled surrender for Darkan.

“Yes. This is fine by me; shall we head northwest? There is a small fishing village not too far from here,” Blada suggested, pointing up towards a winding pathway that led to a part of the forest that was much more elevated, a large hill amidst all the trees.

“Kendt, I would like you to head back to Darkan for now. Inform the council that we have crossed paths with the Hunter Guardians and that we’ll be leading them to some of the smaller villages,” Lloyd gave a command to his comrade. Kendt gave his leader a nod just before dashing off in the direction from which the three Darkaners had come.

Blada was somehow able to quickly recognize the man named Edlyre as soon as he made himself visible, despite being certain that she had only seen him once or twice in the village. She was able to recall that he had done business with some of the miners in Darkan, although she could not remember what exactly that business entailed.

“Edlyre, you said? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen you around the village. Did my father send you out here? Or maybe the council?” Blada asked the shaman.

Edlyre felt a sense of relief that they believed him. He was also a bit excited that he would have a chance to see and research more on the fiends that they would come across. Of course he wanted to help, but getting others to help him do this was essential. "thank you for the offer. I'm sure I will learn much from our ordeal." he said.

When spoken to by Blada, he shook his head. "No, I'm afraid not. I'm here of my own accord. I just returned from the village and happened to get side tracked from ingredients from over there." he said pointing from where he came. "Unfortunately I spent a little more time than I anticipated and lost my way once the sun had set." he said sheepishly at his error.

Blada nodded as Edlyre explained his business in the woods. She wasn't entirely sold on his story, but she was more than confident in her ability to react quickly in case the man tried anything suspicious. She also had to admit that she felt a lot safer in the presence of the Hunter Guardians, despite not viewing them as her allies.

"Alright, let us get going. The fishing village known as Na'beria should take about half a day to reach, so we'll get there just after the sun sets," Lloyd spoke, moving up towards the pathway Blada had gestured to.

(( Want to make sure everyone is ready before moving on. ))

Raegar had climbed down from on Kolo's back after the conversation had started and it became clear they were going to be here for a while. He was brushing down Kolo's thick fur and listening as the other corps members talked with the Darkan 'soldiers'. He'd been growing increasingly impatient, but to his credit he had managed not to disrupt the conversation with his comments. Slowly he finished brushing the Auroch and put the brush back into his bag. About then is when the conversation turned to heading to the fishing village.

The large man froze as they talked about going to Na'beria and a deep rumbling growl erupted from him. More to the fact that he was going to have to take part in conversation when he preferred silence and working by himself. Cooperation was not his strong suit. "We find the trail, track the pack." He turned from Kolo the large man scanning each individual fiercely through the eye sockets of the bear head pulled over his own. "Villagers panic, distract. If we defend villages we react. We hunt, fiends our prey. Help or go wait for them to find you." He climbed up on Kolo's back the huge beast bearing him with ease. He patted Kolo on the side of the head. "Time to go."

"Or we could do that." Roger said with a shrug. He pulled his horse around, ready to follow Raegar's lead.
Dimitri dropped his head briefly in exasperation. He had felt he was making progress towards cooperation with the Darkaners.
"Well, it sounds like Raegar's going after the pack no matter what. We can't just let him go by himself. So I guess we're going hunting. If you want to join us that's up to you. And if you feel like we're stepping on your toes then all I can do is say sorry. But we've got a job to do."
Dimitri pulled his horse around also, alongside that of his partner.
"Thank god the diplomacy's over. Now we can finally get to work." Roger said quietly to Dimitri.
Dimitri only smiled slightly.

Fidessa gave an expression of discontent after her companions reactions to these Darkaners. "Well, I guess that's that." She said with a shrug. This is actually quite close to THAT. It might be a good time for me to pick it up while I got the chance.

"Actually..." Fidessa halted. "I'll catch up with you guys in a bit if that's okay? I just remembered I recognize this place and I have to check on something." She added.

Edlyre brushed off the rest of the leaves that stuck to his cloak and nodded. "Thank you," he said after they agreed to allow him to tag along. This would prove to be a most enlightening experience. First he would be able to see the abilities of these Hunter x guardians corps as well as learn more about the more powerful fiends that he would be encountering. There was much he needed to know in order to grow and find what made them as they were. There was only a few books his parents left him to give him some inkling of what he was up against, but other than that, he had to learn on his own.

The party was indeed composed of interesting individuals. Some more straightforward than others. Still they would not have join the corps if they did not possess some sort of knowledge and abilities to combat these foes. "Lead on." he said.

Blada was caught off guard by the apparent change of plans, which seemed to have been enforced solely by the large man. Blada eyed the man closely – his appearance was overwhelming to take in, and it was a bit difficult to differentiate between his body and the body of the beast on which he rode.

Ultimately, she was relieved that this meant there was no need for any “friendship” between the two parties. She turned to Lloyd, anticipating that he would have something to say in response to this sudden switch in the mood.

“Ahh, the big guy is all about getting his work done. Understood,” Lloyd said with a smile. “Absolutely no offense taken. In that case, Blada and I will be heading back to our village. Since the plans have changed, I’ll need to update the council with more accurate news.”

“What of you, sir? Will you be accompanying them on their hunt?” Blada now spoke to Edlyre, still quite curious about the man’s intentions.

With no objections Fidessa figured it wouldn’t be a problem if she took a detour and joined up with everyone later. With the current discussion everyone seemed a bit distracted enough as Fidessa slowly backed away from the group, around Jeeves wagon and then took off into the denser forestation. The moment Fidessa was undercover she took off quickly with a single burst of wind behind her. Her speed would be difficult to maintain throughout this terrain, but she managed to twist and turn through most of it without slowing down.

Finally, she reached a mountainside that ran across her path along the tree side. She stopped and looked up at the formations as if trying to remember if she was traveling the correct way. “This does look like the one.” She muttered before taking off again along the open path between the mountainside and forest.

Fidessa arrived at a small waterfall that ran off from a lake above into a small stream leading into the forest she had once come. Here it is. Fidessa thought as she approached the stream. Fidessa suddenly stopped as she heard a rush of sounds spewing out from behind the waterfall. One after another a platoon of skinny, raspberry and red-violet colored fiends jumped out from their lair behind the waterfall and thrashed towards Fidessa. These fiends looked local to the region with no skin and faces like a lizard’s, so Fidessa concluded they were not with the group the Corps. had come for.

“Looks like you guys made a home out of the cave I made. Thanks for guarding it for so long.” Fidessa said smiling as she turned to face them. She didn’t look worried, nor did she take up an offensive stance until the very last second they were in range of her fists. The first fiend had lept at her with its long black claws and drooling teeth.

(( I'd say Fidessa is about 10 miles away from you guys, but she had gotten to where she is long after you guys left your current location. ))
