Can an ancestor access their weapon or their magic?

Ancestors cannot access the weapon or magic of the Knight. Only the current knight is able to summon the weapon or use magic. Two people cannot wield the same power at once.

Would the shop ever consider being able to do art in exchange for solo requirements? I've seen this in play at other shops like TiH and Edelsteine, and it seems to work pretty well. It could be automatically capped since solos can't be traded for anything and you could only count the art as solos? Mostly I'm wondering because a lot of my imaginings for my characters are more visual than... words-ual. It'd be nice to produce some stuff that I can count while also getting things out of the hands, you know?

In the Name of the Moon is an RP based shop and as such, we cannot allow art to replace RP requirements. You are welcome to do art in addition to the written RP, however, it will not count towards any of the growth requirements.

If you are have difficultly with solos, they can be replaced with regular RPs or even buying a Star Candy with Crown Tokens.

Can guardian cats that have obtained human form use their claws whilst in human form?

Can guardian cats that have unlocked Sailor cat use their claws whilst in Sailor cat form?

Or can they only do this when in cat form?

A guardian cat will retain use of their claws while in human or sailor form. Their nails are able to retract and extend much like that of a cats claw appearing at a point or as a normal human like nail. The claw is only able to extend 1.5" from the finger tip when in use.

The Guardian Cat is able to control this at their will.

Can RP that was started (but not finished) prior to a character's growth request being put in be used for their NEXT growth requirements?

I know my wording is kind of confusing, so here's another version: Sailor Kumquat starts a RP with Lieutenant Bubbles. In the middle of this RP, Sailor Kumquat finishes another RP, which fulfills her growth requirements to Super. Could she use her RP with Lieutenant Bubbles as material towards her growth requirements to Eternal, or would it be invalid since it was started before her growth to Super?

The answer to this is almost always no, sorry! An RP that was started before the art for a new stage was posted and the character ICly upgraded cannot be used for growth requirements for the next stage. There is some wiggle room to this—roleplays started up to two weeks prior to the character's art being posted/ICly growing can be counted towards the next stage of growth, but any roleplay started more than two weeks before you have the art and ICly upgrade them cannot be counted.

I'm trying to get my senshi (Hestia) profile updated to current day and have some questions ~ !

1) Hestia had met all her growth reqs to go super in December 2010, but I didn't post to get it approved officially (the stage art was already finished) as I was going to wait for another senshi to complete the reqs so they could go super together. Since that is less than likely to happen, would it be viable to post her for super and backdate that to 2011 (about the time we went on a five year hiatus ahahaaaOTL)?
1b) if so, would she still be considered as meeting those requirements. Her battle were completed with one regular senshi v youma, 1 organized training session where the battle element was a group of senshi v youma, and 3 boss battle events. Reading through the policy update thread, I noticed youma battle value was adjusted a few years later to only be 1 usable per power tier. Would she be considered grandfathered, or would the fact that I didn't post for super prior null that and mean she needs another battle against a powered character? Looking at earlier pages of the thread it looks like she needs to have been posted for growth.

2) Living well away from DC in a relatively "quiet" section of the states, and with the aid of a guardian cat, is it viable for two senshi to basically live a civilian life without battling youma/agents for years?
2b) Would this have any effect on them?

3) My vague idea for Emily/Hestia is for her to have built a sort of spiritual/physical fitness regimen revolving around cleaning/housework ~ based off that of her homeworld in the past (learned through backdated deep space rp, the frequency of which ofc depending on question 1) and for that to have led her to teaching it to others, gaining enough popularity for it to be profitable. Would giving it the name The Hestian Way be way too close to senshi reveal or would it be publicly assumed as referring to the goddess? I'm not set on that, just feeling things out.

4) Do you have any specific recommendations (reading/ic actions or cautions) for those returning after a long hiatus?

5) How's the rate of property/vehicle damage in Destiny City compared to the national average?

1. Because of the age of Hestia and the circumstances, if you hit the old requirements and had the art already, you would be able to grow her/play her at super stage! The one youma battle per upgrade rule would only be in place towards her next stage of growth (so, this is something you would only have to worry about between her super—>eternal growth!)

2. It is very possible to live a quiet life outside of Destiny City as long as they did not power up; the Negaverse comfortably controls most areas of the world, so would be immediately drawn to any order energy signature. The Guardian Cat should be safe, as long as they weren't trying to awaken new senshi and stayed out of populated areas. While a Mauvian is in its cat form, it has a small energy signature that the Negaverse likely wouldn't pick up on, but if the cat took its humanoid form it would be a beacon, so this is ill advised! There would be no side effects on anyone who has left DC to live a traditional civilian life somewhere else.

3. The name would be acceptable! As long as she isn't powering up while she teaches, no one should be able to associate that name to her.

4. The best place to start is the Information Section of the Guild! Here is a link for quick reference. Many changes have been made (and new factions added!), so it's best to poke around and see what the factions are up to. There is also a guide to the meta plots that you can follow to see any major plot changes!

5. Destruction runs rampant in Destiny City, so the property damage rate is quite a bit higher! The best way to think of it is rent is pretty cheap and the tow companies don't have to look very far for work!

I know it's been said before that you can take civilians with you to your planet/Wonder, but what about normal animals and bugs?

If so then what effects does this have on them (Civilian, animal, or bug) when brought and what effects if they are left there when the Senshi/Knight returns to Earth?

Also I think I had previously read that you could bring fertilizer and plants from Earth to try and have a small garden at say your Wonder but then I have also heard that plants from Earth die on other planets. So my question is which is right and what happens to them?

At the present time, Planets and Wonders are not able to sustain long term life (including but not limited to animals and bugs). Generally, any living creature brought to a Homeworld or Wonder will be ejected when the Knight or Senshi leaves (or shortly after). Anything not ejected on the planet would wind up dying, sorry!

As for plants, you are welcome to bring anything you wish to your Planet/Wonder but there is no guarantee that it will grow as the plants are adapted to present day Earth and not the new location they are being taken too. It is advised that if you wish to do so, please submit a plot to staff for review as some things may take where others may not! Staff always welcomes any ideas!

A few random questions 4 future reference sorry if these were asked already /weeps

  • If you lose consciousness while powered, do you automatically power down? Or is it more a "strength / will of your starseed" where that maintains you as powered and it's mostly a choice whether to power down or not?

  • If you're suffering from Transcendence Sickness, do your markings still glow or do they fade / waver?

  • I've seen people bringing animals to their Wonders; is this an Actual Thing? If so, how long would an animal survive on a Wonder? DO THEY NEED SPACE FOOD TO KEEP MOVING ON

  • I know buttwings for eternal senshi are purely aesthetic and are incapable of flight, but are they like regular wings in that they can be moved / flutter?

  • Can you bring refreshments / food to a Wonder?

  • who stole the cookies from the cookie jar

If a character loses consciousness while powered, they do not automatically power down. Powering down would be something that is plot driven and would also depend on the injuries a character sustained as well as the circumstances of the event. A character will power down only when they no longer have the energy to sustain their powered form. This is typically when one is near death.

If a character is suffering from Transcendence Sickness, the marks could be affected if the player chooses! It is not a guaranteed side effect, but would be optional! Depending on the character and what the player wants, some markings may have no change, some may fade or weaken, and others may even glow brighter.

Animals can temporally be brought to Wonders but are unable to survive there long term and cannot be left there alone/without the senshi or knight protector. Planets and Wonders are currently unable to sustain long term life so the planet/wonder would automatically eject the living being back to Earth. Alternately, and with plot approval, anything that was not magically ejected would die shortly after the Senshi/Knight's absence.

Buttwings are purely aesthetic and nothing more than part of a Senshi's costume. They cannot move on their own.

You absolutely can bring food and refreshments to a Wonder! You can even bring a camping set to hang out as long as your supplies last!

c/o the Meta vs. approved player plots -

The Academy Thread is clearly marked the Academy. As in the Knight Academy of old? If so, it was reached via Dark Kingdom Negaspace.

In a plot I ran, I received permission to find the Knight Academy in The Rift. What I'd established in my post series was in the far reaches of the Rift. Days in and on in searching to the far caverns. There was never any notification from staff then or since that there was a problem with what was presented.

Lorewise, then, how did the assault ever reach The Academy, if it was the Knight's Academy. Or, whether IC Titan believed he found the Academy or not, was what my character found NOT the real Academy? Or is it retconning to not be the real academy? It was IN the Rift, and only Reachable by the Rift, but the assault was entirely in Dark Kingdom/Negaspace?

Quote:

The Academy is in the Rift, however we cannot reveal full information about it to the Negaverse ICly without it being extremely OP and tipping the scales very far in their favor. This is something we might explore in the future, however for the most part we would like to keep the Negaverse with very limited information on things pertaining to the Academy.

The Academy was a psuedo-wonder; it had a piece of the Code that was protected by all Knights. There was not a single Knight tasked to guard over the Code Piece presented here. It would not have one Knight in particularly that would have youmified at its fall; while it was a coernerstone piece of the Code, the lack of a single Knight tied to it would not have directly turned anyone into a youma. The piece of the Code that was protected here is not presently accessible; it is assumed to have been destroyed or is otherwise unreachable in the Rift.

The Academy was an expansive building that was designed to aid in the training of many knights across the universe. A large part of the Academy has been lost with time or was buried after Beryl sank it. The branch that Titan found in the Rift was still a part of the Academy, though it was not the same part that was explored during the Meta. The part used in the meta had many of the tunnels and passageways blocked off, leaving only a small portion of the building explorable. This building was never advertised as the Academy to Negaverse Agents because it was ransacked and cleared out when Beryl first sank it. Thinking she had taken everything of value, it was no more than an empty shell of a building to the Negaverse. The thread was labeled as the Academy to give players an OOC idea of what they were exploring, and it was confirmed that this was at least part of the Academy when a long-lost, well hidden Code Piece was found. There are still many areas of the Academy that the Negaverse has not reached. Titan found a branch of it that was separated from the building in Negaspace/The Dark Kingdom. There are still more locations that can be discovered!

Hand in Hand with that!

There's been a lot of confusion with players, and even mods, about the lay of the land with the Negaverse. Particularly 'Negaspace/dark kingdom space' vs. The Rift. Having read the old Rift Establishing threads with Tanzanite, with the Hall of Shadows, and the Faction Information threads, as well as talk of pocketing the dimension itself in my ask about Knight Notes some time ago, I had an image in my mind about how these two parts were partitioned but still connected.

Could the shop be given an official rough about the layout to clear up the spacial confusion, for the sake of consistency in storytelling ? Vagueness with space in magic still abounds, but it has caused trouble here and there with logistics of characters going here or there that shouldn't/can't (no senshi without escort of at least a Captain can go down into the Rift, Lieutenants as well!), or with knowing what offices are where for what branch (Zink's War Room for example)

Even if it runs something like the Destiny City Locations Thread for if/when players get approved locations established in the Rift like The House of Lords that Titan found, the old Youma Bar from way way back, The Youma Door that was opened, or the Training Colosseum.

Map (that I had in my brain, but could have plenty wrong in assumptions!):

A fuller description of Negaspace/The Dark Kingdom and the Rift coming up! Many of the Negaverse threads are long out of date, but new, updated information is going to be released in the very near future!

At this point in time, the Dark Kingdom is not meant for expansion/to house player owned locations, however this may change in the future!

After a reread the first page just now, I saw this as part of the battle rp description: "Just one character vs. a youma does also not count!"

I'd like to ask to check: Does this mean that if only one character played by rper A interacts with or dusts a disposable youma played by rper B then the rp is considered a regular rp not a battle rp?

Admittedly one way I am interpreting the wording of the battle rp description on the first page is that two powered characters should be rp'd in a fight by separate rpers or should be rp'd in a fight with a youma played by an rper who does not play both of the two powered characters involved so that the rp is considered a battle. Am I understanding this correctly?

And so, I'd like to also ask this third question: If an rper plays a youma to be dusted and a powered character together with another rper playing a second powered character, does the rp qualify as a battle for both rpers?

@u@;
There needs to be at least two powered characters (with at two different players) for it to count as a battle ; though they can both be fighting the youma. If only one powered character is fighting a youma but is roleplaying with another player, it is considered a regular. If a player is writing their powered character fighting a youma and not interacting with another player's characters, it is considered a solo (even if their character is fighting).

When two powered characters are fighting a youma, the youma can be played by either of the roleplayers—or another party all together. If two powered characters work together to fight a disposable youma* then it counts as a battle, but only one youma battle can be used per each stage of growth. The other battles must be either spars with allies, or battling with enemies of the opposite side.

*Disposable youma are typical youma of the day type monster, however if your character is fighting a Player controlled youma—that is, a powered character that was youmified—then it counts like fighting an ordinary powered character. For example, Bazzite was a Negaverse agent who was turned into a youma; a senshi fighting him would be a battle, because PC Youma are stronger than regular disposable youma.

Is there a size limit to how many players can be in a brigade?

Can there be more than one mauvian in a court?

Would a Mauvian senshi count for the "at least 4 senshi" limit to a court? In theory, could you have a Mauvian senshi court?

There is presently no size limit to how many players can be in a brigade, as long as there are at least four knights present and actively involved! It is possible to have more than one Mauvian involved in a Court, but there would need to be more than four Senshi, and Mauvians should never outnumber Senshi.

A Mauvian Senshi would not count as at least one of the four senshi though, sorry! Their Senshi stage is a manufactured stage; the cats do not naturally have this power and are only able to activate it by creating a device that gives them additional power. Additionally, Mauvians derive their magic from a very different power source than Senshi, so right now they do not have the powers to form a Court of their own. Something may be devised for groups of Mauvian Senshi, but the goal of Mauvians has always been to guide and aid Senshi in unlocking their powers.

Hi! So we have a pretty active team with Saturn members that span across 17 interested members (7 being knights I think and 10 being senshi) and were wondering for Brigades/courts if all members had to be present for a court to work?

IE:

Methone, Aegir, Monty and Rhea are together and can summon the captains wand to do their thing, even though Thyrmr, Skadi,Skoll are not present?

Also, can the group summon in two different locations with two different groups?

IE: Methone, Aegir, Monty and Rhea summon the wand to teleport to so-so, while Thrymr, Skadi, Skoll and Hati summon the wand to use as an attack?

Not all members have to be present, but at least four do! A Brigade would need at least four knights to function, and a Court would need at least four senshi. Unfortunately, there is only one wand so they could not both summon it simultaneously, and the wand would not get dual uses; once it has special abilities unlocked, those abilities can only be used once per day.

If the Court was divided into two groups, they could each use their combined energy to teleport (if there were at least four members present). They could each technically use a Planetary Attack, however it would be massively weakened. Any four members may use a Planetary Attack, but the entire Court can only get this approved once per event; even if it is split into multiple groups, it does not mean multiple uses, so please apply to use these accordingly!

Weird question!

Well, two.

1. Do animals have starseeds? If so, can they be reincarnated as another animal? (EG a Roc on a homeworld in the past might reincarnate as a Harris Hawk in the present, ETC). Obv. They're far less valuable than human/senshi/knight/Alien? starseeds but is that something they have regardless?

2. Past life info question I'm sute has been asked but I want clarifications. For ideas. I apologize for the multipart nature!

Past life races must be bipedal and humanoid correct?

Question on limits: Are horns/antlers/horn nubbies/ETC acceptable?
Is Fure/scales/Scale plates (Like fantasy animals)/Claws/fangs acceptable?
Bipedal, but the legs are shaped like an animal (Digitgrade, like on Gargoyles, ETC) acceptable?
Are tails acceptable?
Slit pupils/Non human pupils, are they OK?
Abnormal skintones (Blue, green, opal, ETC) or textures/consistancies (thicker/smooth like polished rocks, rough and papery, thin and semi-transparent ETC) OK?

Basically, what are the past life limits? Snouts/Four legs/ETC notwithstanding.

Animals do not have 'starseeds'. A Starseed is a representation of the Human Soul and he Negaverse is unable to access whatever representation an animal may or may not have. The memories of any past life is something directly related to the starseed. So, even if an animal could be reincarnated, it would have no ability to recall anything from a past life and all knowledge and actions would remain focused on the here and now.

Past life races must be bipedal humanoid. This means that while they can have horns, antlers, etc, they cannot be larger than a foot in size. Claws and fangs are possible but again, limited in size. Fur and Scale should only be accents on a body at less than 10%. Semi-animalistic legs could be permitted, but they should be mostly humanoid and only slightly influenced by the shape of an animal.

Tails are fine but like wings, they are mostly cosmetic and do not work as functioning appendages. A wing, for example, could flutter but would not be capable in providing any sort of flight. A tail could have movement but would not be strong enough to grip onto something.

Non-human pupils, abnormal skintones, and different skin textures are fine.

Some Mauvian questions I didn't see answers to~

1. What is the maximum number of times a Mauvian can switch between cat form and human form in one day?

2. What is the maximum number of hours they can stay in human form? I know it sends out a big energy signal, but still.

3. If a Mauvian can get together with another Mauvian and one of them go into human mode, can the cat Mauvian suppress the energy so it's not so great?

There is currently no set limited on the number of times a Mauvian can switch between human form and cat form each day! However, the more times a cat switches between forms, the more exhausted they will be. After a while it will be time for a cat nap. A cat that has had more practice going between forms will have more ease than a cat who just gained access to their human form.

However, a Mauvian should not want to be in its human form often because the energy signatures send out huge beacons that can easily be picked up by other powered characters. It is recommended to keep each time a cat is in human form to under two Earth hours while on Earth. If the Mauvian is in space or not trying to hide their presence, they could be in the human form longer without fear of attack.

Have a second feline around would not suppress the boost in energy signature but it could heavily dampen it to about half the normal amount. Two cats could suppress a Mauvian in human form but three cats make for a great target so this could be dangerous!

If a court or brigade have co-captains, is it possible for them to be able to split the captaincy wand? I.E. They need both be present to summon the wand with each captain having a half of a wand in order to make up the complete wand?

Traditionally, the team items should be a single item that could be summoned by either co-captain or the group as a whole in a dire need. However, splitting the item could be possible but you would need to submit a plot that gives the reason for the item breaking in two and why this would be necessary for the court/brigade.

If you are going to submit a plot, we would also ask you to consider a few potential issues: If the item was broken into two and required both co-captains to summon it, what would happen if one of the co-captains should disappear? Would the remaining co-captain be able to summon both pieces or would the mantle need to be passed to someone else before the item could be formed?

Because this would be a plotted situation it might mean that what applies to one Court/Brigade might not apply to another; in an ordinary situation the captain (or any member of a Court/Brigade) could summon the item in one piece, but if you have a plot driven reason to have your Court/Brigade need the item in two-pieces/need both co-captains we are willing to work with a group to work out their specific desires or needs!
