"Well I'm off to send that help I promised back home." Fenrir mentioned to Rore, who was busy feeling out the large dent in his piece of armor with a frown on his face.
"I guess I'll follow you while you do that." He flipped the metal this way and that, the depression deeper where the heel had obviously struck. Just thinking about wearing the damaged item made the spot between his shoulder blades ache. "Until he]/i] deals with that matter I don't have anything else to do, really. Besides talk with Crow."
"I have Rayne to find." Elistral shuffled over to them as they spoke, referring to one of the Protectors in charge of handling things in Salim in her absence. "There is the dead that need to be counted and identified, and damages to be looked at."

"I go where Rore goes. What about you Demios?" jake looked at Demios from Rore's shoulders. He also took hold of Rore's chestplate and waved his fingers over it, bringing out the indention, and handing it back to Rore.
"I'm going to go with Elistral, I have to count my own dead before anything else and I plan on helping finance the repairs so i'm going to have to see what the numbers'll be like." Demios looked at Elistral and smiled.

((Meh, I don't feel like messing with the italics in the last post.))
"Alright, follow the pretty wolfie then." Fenrir trotted off, easily parting the way for the small group to follow after him.
Elistral smiled back at Demios as she walked. "I heard that the gates took a beating during the attack. Those will need to be replaced, of course.
"Yeah, they did." Rore looked at the armor in amazement. It was good as new. But he didn't wonder how that'd happened. "How'd you get back up there?" He asked Jake, craning his neck backwards to stare at him.

Jake looked down in surprise, not knowing it needed explanation. "I teleported on your shoulders as you left the tent. Silly. I like it up here, I can see everything."
Demios sighed. "Jake, why you choose to act like a small child i'll never know."
Jake turned and stuck out his tounge. "Because unlike some of us I spoil my inner child." He smiled and turned back forward.
"But you're right, the gate was ripped in half practically. Steel rivets and all. That man is a monster. I wonder why he's so strong. Do you know anything Rore?" Demios called to the Rore, he being quite large himself.

"He's not a monster!" Rore growled angrily, a little louder and harsher than he intended it to be. He felt embarrassment wash over him and his eyes softened as he apologized. "I'm sorry...I don't know either. When Sylvia and I fought him he kept changing, yelling at himself. Like some sort of other personality. He was never like that; he's the nicest guy you could ever know, and cheered you up all the time when you were down."
"Could it have been magic that's twisted him?" Elistral asked.
"I don't know." Rore repeated, mainly to himself. "Gorash mentioned our king, so that might be it."

"I'm sorry, I never meant him personally I meant his strength. The gate was magically held as well. I've never seen the likes of it." Demios felt bad, he never knew they had been friends.
"Well I don't know exactly what it is but he doesn't have the scent for foul magic, wouldn't you agree Fenrir?" Jake looked down at the large wolf, hoping he also agreed.

"It's fine." Rore muttered, falling into his more worried self at the moment.
"Hm? Well, there's some sorcery involved if you know how , or where i guess, to find it. Like his body for example." Fenrir swiveled his ears around, picking up various sounds as they neared the gate in question. He was going to walk past it himself, but waited for the others to decide their paths first. "But, yeah, it's more natural than foul magicky."

"When Strider's better we need him to be looked at. Heck or bring him to Strider." Jake could now see the large man from where he sat. "There he is."
Demios looked ahead. "Well Rore, I think we have to go another way. Hows about you go talk to him. I'm sure you two have a lot of catching up to do." Demios looked at Elistral. "I'm following you."

"I guess I'll go talk with him, then, he looks like he's awake now..." Rore stood on his toes and narrowed his eyes to see better.
"I see Rayne over by the tavern," Elistral mentioned, spotting the girl helping others to clear the rubble out of the collapsed entrance. "We'll be nearby, somewhat."
"Alright. C'mon Jake. I told you that you'd get along well with him before, but now I'm not so sure." Rore set off, stepping through the hole in the gate, towards his friend.

Demios followed Elistral to the tavern as he watched Rore and Jake got to the large man in chains. He felt bad for him and Rore, two friends made enemies, a sad story.
"I think it'll be fine. He doesn't look too bad." Jake smiled as he ducked down to get through the hole.

"I hope that things will be settled soon for him." Elistral said quietly, following Demios's gave for a moment before moving over to Rayne, the pink-haired girl giving orders. She was glad that she'd grown up well after the destruction Mal had caused. "Have the buildings been damaged badly?" She asked her, pausing to rest next to the working people. "Not too bad, just fire damage for the most part. But this place was hit by a...a cat..." "Catapult?" "Yeah. But it's strange, nothing came through the barrier."Elistral shrugged, deciding to put worrying over a stray shot later. "The man who owns this place won't be happy when he hears it was hit." "Him...oh...he was one of the people who died when the Ravagers came in...""Oh...I knew him," Elistral muttered sadly as she looked at the ground, fidgeting with her rings. "He was a good man."
"I hope so." Rore replied. He didn't notice anything wrong with Gorash, either, at least on the surface. But there was a different look in those eyes as he reached him, grunting as he struggled to sit on the ground in front of him while managing to keep Jake on his shoulders. "You're awake."
Gorash nodded, chin scraping against his gauntlets. "I'm...sorry for earlier." He mumbled, his eyes flipping between Rore and the boy with him. "And about your armor..."
"It's fine, Jake fixed it." Rore gestured with one hand to the inu and presented the piece, undented.

"I'm sorry." Demios put his shoulder on Elistral's shoulder for a moment then turned back to the woman. "How badly is it damaged?"
Jake smiled at Gorash, his ears twitching happily as his tail wagged. "Nice to meet you."

"The roof and part of the front wall of the second story was destroyed. And probably the top floor, too. We're clearing it away now."
Gorash tried to manage a weak smile back, feeling somewhat better. "It's nice to meet you too." Then he looked away, ashamed.
"What's wrong?" Rore asked, studying his friend closely.
"I still feel bad. For hurting you, and that elf, and you." Gorash glanced back up at the second "you". He met Rore's now expectant expression, guessing quickly at what he wanted and as much as he wanted to refuse, he complied. "I'm Gorash. And...you're Jake?"

Jake nodded. "That's what people call me. But Rore you never told me how you two got seperated, just that you did." Jake looked down at Rore curiously.
"Okay so that would amount to about 50 gold coins and 20 silver coins, roughly. But i'm sorry for the loss of your friend. A lot of friends and family died today. But let's go, work can take your mind off a lot." Demios motioned for Elistral to follow him as he moved on, smiling.

"Yeah," Elistral let Demios take the lead as she looked back again at the empty and ruined shell of the tavern. There had been so many memories in there. "I just wish that so much loss could have been avoided."
"He left." Gorash answered as Rore opened his mouth to reply.
"Well that makes it sound harsh..." Rore chuckled.
"But it's true." Gorash smiled widely, before shifting in his spot on the ground, beginning to brood silently again.
Rore looked up at Jake as he explained the actual details, or, as much as he could while condensing them. "I told you before about the king changing. We were fed up with everything going on, so we planned to leave. Or, I did. During a festival celebrating all of the knights, we snuck out: me, Gorash, and Ellen. But he decided to stay behind, which explains why Tira wasn't with him then. I asked why and he said that he was staying so that he could keep the king off of our track, give excuses about my absence when he asked, while we escaped out of the kingdom. I was his best knight, and I kept thinking that it had to be for the best that he stay. The plan was that Gorash followed after us after a few months, but..." Rore trailed off, glancing at Gorash for an explanation, who was no longer meeting his eyes. "What happened to Tira?"
"I haven't seen her in a few years, and I stopped sending letters a few months back when Reaper came." Gorash muttered, drawing his knees closer to his chest. "I didn't want her to see how much I've changed."
