Tobias Liebel - STAKE +1

Feeling a fleeting moment of safety when they entered the maze, Tobias allowed himself to let out the breath he had been holding and slumped against one of the thick hedges. “Jesus. Well. This has been…this has been exciting. Next time, remind me to listen to you when I want to go out again. I think we’ll have to do our next date at my house where I know it’s safe.” He flashed a little grin at Evan and winked, squeezing his hand slightly. “We’re okay though. We’re safe here and…”

Tobias’s words were cut short as a huge spider fell to the ground between himself and Evan with a loud thump. It gave a horrible screeching noise, spraying spit all over Tobias’s costume, causing small holes where it landed, and as it turned its massive body and plethora of eyes on Evan, he had no time to really process what was happening before reacting.
Protect Evan. He had made a promise.

He was going to keep it.

As gently as he could, Tobias shoved the other male to the side and felt a stinging pain on his arm as the pincers sunk into it. Almost at once he felt his head begin to swim, but he looked at Evan, trying again to seem at least slightly reassuring. “Ev. Run. Get out of her and get home…I’ll be fine.” A wave of nausea overtook him and he slumped against the hedge again, reaching up with what little strength he felt like he had and trying to pry the spider off of his arm.

Evan Harper – (In Possession of a Metal Stake)

When Tobias suggested that the next date be safe, he nodded numbly. He comprehended the words, but he couldn’t feel any attachment to them. There was an empty, hollow feeling in his mind—in his heart and his gut.

When the spider fell between him and Tobias, all he felt was cold. He didn’t feel the sensation of being pushed, and he didn’t feel the sensation of his hitting the hedges.

He felt something when he saw the spider’s fangs latch onto Tobias’ arm.

His eyes flashed and in that split second, something changed again. He gripped the metal spike in his hand and lunged towards the spider. His eyes were wide but his face was blank. If it even registered that Tobias had told him to run, he didn’t listen.

He drew the stake up and slammed it against the spider with a crippling force; the spider’s leg snapped in the wrong direction almost instantly. It’s body turned as if it intended to turn and face its attacker, but Evan was already drawing the stake up and slamming it down again, on another leg. This one took two hits to break, but Evan didn’t stop.

After the fourth strike, the spider had turned towards Evan, but he didn’t stop; he smashed the spider in the face. Two eyes burst on impact and it screeched, but even the threat of flying spittle didn’t stop him. The spider screeched, but Evan’s face never changed and he never stopped. Even when the spider tried to crawl away, he kept hitting it.

He smashed the metal against the spider until every leg was broken, until every eye was impacted, and until the carcass was no more than a beaten pulp, oozing some sticky, clear liquid. He didn’t stop; he stared with the same vacant expression and continued to pulverize the spider with a silent, uncontrolled ferocity.

Julian White

Julian squeaked upon being carried, though his ankles were incredibly thankful. The young man felt a mixture of relief and extreme guilt. "R-roddy! What about you?!" Julian couldn't possibly carry the larger man without powering up, which was impossible here. Too many people... He felt so useless. As a Knight, he might've been able to help carry some people to safety, if panic didn't set in first. For Roddy and Delilah and for all of his sisters, Julian needed to learn to be braver. Stronger.

The sudden appearance of another spider sent the young man scrambling up into Roddy's face.

No! I have to be brave! I have to be strong! Maybe these are youma, or maybe not! But Roddy needs my help! I can't keep relying on him...

With a deep breath, Julian pushed off of the larger man and looked around for something to use as a weapon. He found a few rocks beneath some of the hedges and threw them as hard as he could at the spider. It recoiled with each strike, hissing at them. They needed to drive it off to continue moving!

Shikora Mjoli

"We might just get crushed by giant spiders, which is arguably worse!"

At least people got out of boulders, sometimes, if they fell on them the right way with just a lost limb or something. These spiders were probably looking for for their own snack and she wasn't interested in being digested by giant spiders. Honestly, Shikora had to agree, it was definitely a little gross out here. Mostly because of the spiders. Actually, entirely because of the giant spiders and their similarly giant webs.

She scrunched her nose at the maze, but found herself with little choice but to make her way through it. After confirming that Steele was still nearby, she ventured into the maze and started to try to find their way out of here. She had a doctorate degree, she could definitely handle a little maze.

Maybe.

Right?

No. Not even remotely.

Shikora nearly jumped out of her skin when she was jumped on by a spider, falling to the ground as it anchored itself on top of her, spit flying everywhere. Despite her normal calm demeanor, even she wanted to panic and maybe vomit, attempting to struggle to get free. It felt like part of her clothing was melting onto her skin.

She tried to roll to one side and force the spider's legs to buck, but instead, it just moved it's leg and gouged her arm, keeping her in one position. Shikora bit her lip to hold back a yelp of pain as she reevaluated her options.

Her shoes.

Shikora kicked her shoe off towards her head, snatched it out of the air, and flung it, heel first, at the spider's head. While it didn't seem to fix the problem entirely, it certainly gave her enough time to scramble out from underneath and regain her footing. Her clothes were definitely a little ... stuck, but she was honestly more concerned about the blood coming out of her arm. She should probably do something about that.

They needed to get away from the spiders first. Shikora kicked off her other shoe and brandished it menacingly.

Christabelle Calloway +1 juicy stake

Brandishing her metal spike, Christa nodded to Genevieve and her shoe idea. They had to move quickly. In civilian form, they couldn't very well save anyone from the spiders. With all the shrieking, it was difficult to discern who was where, and who was screaming in fright versus pain. Christa entertained the idea that these were youma, but there was no way to confirm that with certainty. They needed to survive first.

"Let's keep moving! I have this - I'll use it if I have to. We'll find your parents and Jada. Keep your eyes peeled. This way!"

The two of them were making decent time, finding their way along one wall to eventually lead to the exit. Where it was in relation to their current position was impossible to determine, but Christa knew following a wall was the best way out of a maze. Before they could turn the corner, one of the giant spiders had dropped right in front of the pair with a hiss and spit. It appeared to be disoriented and Christa took that moment to haphazardly stab at the connective tissue between head and rear. The spider hissed and spat, some of the venom landing on her arm and shoulders. Blessedly, she was mostly protected by the long sleeves of her costume.

Lavender Burningham

Rhona didn’t…even bother to try and help her up. Didn’t bother to ask if she was okay…she just went off to do her own thing and be a hero. Again. Looking around, Lavender felt tears stinging in her eyes. Anger at herself for letting her emotions get her carried away. She wouldn’t change. Nothing had changed…she…nothing had changed.

Drawing in what she wanted to be a deep, calming breath, Lavender looked around, frowning again when Virell mentioned that Rhona wasn’t in his line of sight…and when she went to look around, finally spotting the other girl, a huge spider decided to rear its ugly head. Literally.

Letting out another scream, Lavender pulled her hand back and began punching the ugly hairy face in each of the horrible eyes that she could see, and she was glad to hear the spider seeming to shriek as well. No, no this was not going to happen again. She was done with big events…she would do a lot better just staying home and making videos.

But…she wished that…

No. That wish was stupid. Rhona wasn’t by her side. Again.
And the tears fell, sending small rivers of the dark eye makeup that she was wearing cascading down her cheeks.

Rhona Lee -- Winnie Sanderson -- +1 Spike

Lavender's scream pierced Rhona like a bolt of lightning, stopping her mid-strike. The spider at her feet was dazed and in the process of trying to get away, so she let it. Three feet away, Lavender was fighting her own spider with her bare hands. And while she was doing... quite well, actually, Rhona couldn't stop the way her body turned towards the other woman and the way her arm lifted over her head, aiming the wickedly blunted spike directly for the spider that was accosting Lavender. A leg snapped with a sickening sound and Rhona smiled despite herself as the limb gave way.

"Before I have my attempts to help misconstrued as a murder attempt. Again." Rhona shot a look at Virell, her lips in a tight line and her eyes deadly narrow. "Sorry it took me so long. I'm not sure if they are smart enough to divide and conquer... but that's what they're doing." She looked around to see groups split up by groups of spiders. "Even though you seem to have everything under control with your monster..." She looked a bit like a wild thing, her jewel-toned robes in shreds from the spiders, her hair knotted and twisted by webbing, and her hands red with beast blood. Even her expression caught somewhere between fear, rage, and something else betrayed whatever civility she had in her.

"Come on," her tone telling clearly that she was still deeply irritated, though that might have easily been explained away by the circumstance and the fact that she was still hard at work trying to find a way out. "There's a path clear up ahead now. I scouted it out and there are no dead ends in sight. Maybe a way out?" It wasn't until she finally got a good look at Lavender that her expression softened.

"Hey now, what happened? You had it under control... I'm sorry if I scared you that bad but... I mean iI was just trying to help back there... but like always... I ******** it up." Maybe now wasn't the right time to suggest that they just not see each other ever... ever again... but that didn't mean that the thought didn't slide down from her mind and perch on her lips ready to be spoken. Rhona really was tired of feeling like s**t every time she was around Lavender. Really tired of trying her best and having it thrown back in her ******** face when it wasn't good enough. ******** exhausted every time she left the woman because for some reason she never quite measured up even though she tried her damn ******** best.

Elex Yorke (undead + Stake Dinner)

Elex only caught so much of Jack's explanation, though the surrounding anarchy demanded that he keep up with Rowan and his brother. How flattering. You must win a lot of friendships that way, Jack.

Elex kept pace, expecting that Jack would make himself known once again The boy didn't disappoint after attacking the spider that grazed Elex; the redhead soon rejoined him. He seemed far too attentive to Elex's encounters to be a straightforward interest. Had he known, somehow, that Elex was a Negaverse officer? He peered at the cut beneath his hand. Whatever moisture sloughed off the fresh blood now stopped, and the bleeding ceased through clots. Had that simple glimpse been enough to betray him? Or was 'Jack' one of the undercover Negaverse agents that Schörl often sent on the prowl? Inwardly he wagered the latter; he would need to set a certain show of his efforts. He would loathe a dismal report on his combat with spiders.

Trey faced difficulties too, being further ahead of them. The man froze in a manner characteristic of fear; Elex wondered if he was an arachnophobe. If so, they may need to carry him through the maze to some semblance of safety — if one existed. But his brother worked to solve that problem, and in doing so, was clipped by a spider himself.

Their foray into the maze offered yet more spiders — Elex faced one of his own, now scanning about for new victims. A quick swipe of the stake caught the creature in the jaw and tore at its mandible, which loosed some of the foaming mess. It hissed at him and spat froth across his body. The thick stream caught his injured shoulder, quickly melting through pinstripe fabric to reveal bare skin. The remainder of it stung his hand terribly. The spider's injury garnered a cry, however, and it retreated just enough to nurse its wounds. Elex cared little for pursuing it at present,

For Rowan lay beneath one of the beasts. Its dripping mandibles ate away at the proud boy's shirt, revealing smooth muscle and pale skin. He cast a glance back at Jack, then readied his garden stake. A quick swipe grazed the creature's side and bite through some of its chitinous exterior. "Jack," he called over shoulder, "help him." His shoulder stung and his hand burned, where Jack looked comparatively fit. Elex hoped he had some combat prowess to match his hale appearance.

The attack meant little; the creature bit into Rowan's leg with little resistance and the man responded with a scream. Looks like we're both getting rabies if it doesn't outright kill you. On a whim, he ducked down enough to aim for the creature's eye. As he drove it forward, he hoped his stake would find its mark.

Isaiah Zähne as Felicia

Gwen's constant complaints held little weight against the backdrop of activity — spiders crawled from all over the damn place, each looking for their own victims. Gwen herself contended with one particularly hungry spider, and while she managed to evade most of its blows, it spat at her and left Isaiah quite the sight to behold. He'd seen the lot of it before, of course, but to see her nearly undressed in public by an arachnid… He thought such happenings only existed in pornos. The spider seemed less interested in her, and more interested in retreat; Isaiah huffed at its departure.

But he was not left hanging for his own confrontations, as another barreled down on him from over one of the hedges. His third point of reverence already moved away from him; Isaiah was on his own without so much as a hedge to lean against. The spider looked about, mostly blind, and the drunken Felicia took it as an opportunity to use the damnable beast for a pillow. He threw himself upon it, hoping his weight might add toward crushing the damned thing, but it largely skittered about confused. The creature crept up and down hedge-laden aisles clicking away, and its thorned legs stamped about on fallen leaves. Isaiah struggled to keep his arm secure around its thorax; the bumpy ride threatened to dislodge him at any turn. Finally the bug barrelled into a lightpost and dazed itself — Isaiah was sent forward with inertia and hit the pole himself. He winced, his lone hand finding his head while the world swam.

The overgrown arachnid chose not to stick around; the creature stumbled aout as it searched for a new hedge to climb. Some of the others around them began to retreat as well, as they discovered the hardiness of their quarries. Slowly Ice stood with the help of the pole.

That wasn't exactly what I'd call a good time. A breeze picked up, casting an unusual coolness across his skin. He looked down to find much of his skimpy outfit melted away. "Oh." Further inspection concluded that only the furry manties, the tights, and his gloves were left after his venture on the creature's back. "Oh." Wait 'til Gwen gets a load of this.

Stumbling back into the dark, he searched for his irritable companion. "Oh Gweeeeeennnnnn…" He slurred out drunkenly. "You gotta see this."

Giulia (Rapunzel)

By the time he got her back, scratched and a little scraped, Giulia knew her blue eyes were brimming with tears. She settled her face into her firmest expression, though her hand trembled as she grabbed him back tightly. "No," she told him as bravely as she could, "I'll walk. It's better that way."

But now the spiders were surrounding them. She couldn't become Charybdis, not in this crowd. She would have to be brave without the protection of the seal, which she had nicknamed Boop. Besides, the spiders would probably try and hurt Boop, and she wasn't sure she wouldn't cry if she saw the spiders hurt anyone.

"Come on, Nat!" she cried, just as a spider dropped down- into their path! It was staring at Farmer Nat- probably because he was bigger- and that was going to be it's mistake!

She kicked at the spider, tiny foot finding tiny, sensitive openings and tiny, sensitive eyes.

kuropeco
just my notes for Giulia's roll~
If you roll an 8-10 you find yourself face to face with spider. It has climbed over the hedges and dropped down right in front of you; the spider seems to be distracted, perhaps with something in the distance or someone else. Either way, it’s to your advantage; you can easily get in a few strikes on the spider before it can turn to attack you. You have the most luck fighting a spider; you have the ability to find all of its weak points and it recoils every time you hit it. You will need to watch out for flailing limbs and flying spit (which can burn through clothes or agitate skin) but you might just make it out of here in one piece!

Jada (Mother Gothel) - metal stake (+1)

This was getting ridiculous. There were spiders everywhere, brandishing pointy little legs and spitting acid at people around her. This wouldn't do at all- Giulia was tall but light, and probably seemed fairly delicious compared to a bunch of fully-grown people armed with metal stakes. Well, she doubted this was the cause of those big webs in Australia, but maybe once they drove these bugs away, they'd stop appearing in Destiny City.

Right now, she was leaning towards indulging in one of those memes she saw on facebook- look, a spider, nothing left to do but raze the house city to the ground and salt the ashes. She wasn't an arachnophobe, but there had to be limits somewhere. Seriously.

She turned a corner, and something large and heavy fell behind her; she spun, metal spike raising high; it never even saw the first strike coming. It's spray of acid caught her sleeve, but her next blow probably broke a leg or something, judging by the way it flinched away from her. "Leave, or I'll hit you again!" not that the insect could understand; instead of leaving it flailed another leg, and got whacked for its troubles.

That was her other sleeve- she was not, it seemed, going to get her deposit back on this costume.

Pythia (Breakfast at Tiffany's dress) - metal stake (+1)

Pythia was in the maze at last, and she spun, trying to see if she could see the entrance behind her, if there was someone behind that she could pass her stake off to, to keep those ugly little things from coming in. Unfortunately, as she spun, something fell from the sky- and she shrieked, immediately swinging down with her pipe. It made some.... evil spider-thing screech, and spat, landing at her midriff. Her dress!

Fury guided her hand, and woman and spider went back and forth, Pythia's fury increasing with every swing of her stake. It swung at her legs, she smashed one of its. Pointy, nasty little 8-legged- Her belly was burning and her dress wasn't going to be repairable anymore, but if she could bash it in the face, it might be a worthy sacrifice.
