Hey everyone I'm back with another review.
Last time I reviewed Neo-Geo Battle Coliseum and today I'm going to review the game that goes hand in hand with it, KOF XI:

KOF XI (King of Fighters 11) takes place where KOF 2003 left off. The main protagonist in this story is Ash Crimson, whereas in the 98-01 games the protagonist was K' and in 94-97 was Kyo Kusanagi. Ash is awkwardly both an anti-hero and an anti-villain. He's willing to do both good and evil to achieve his goal, and no one really knows what his goal is. In KOF 2003 he stole the powers of Chizuru Kagura one of the 3 branches in control of restraining Orochi, the serpent god of evil. The other 2 branches are Iori Yagami and Kyo Kusanagi. Ash is out to steal all of their powers, and with Chizuru down, he now sets his eyes on Iori Yagami. Meanwhile, Magaki (final boss) and Shion (sub boss) intend on re-awakening Orochi.
KOF XI has very smooth gameplay, just like NGBC, however instead of 2 on 2 you have the option of doing 3 on 3 or 1 on 1. 3 on 3 is broken up into 2 types, Arcade and Team. Arcade enables a character switch system, while Team has a turn based system. The teams of 3 you get to pick a leader, and the leader gets to do his ultimate or leader special, while the other two can only do their super specials, choose your leader wisely because some leader specials are far superior to others. There is also the ability to now do 2 types of cancel, Super and Dream cancel. Super cancels are when you perform a super in the middle of an ordinary special, and Dream cancel is when you perform a leader special in the middle of a super special. Learning these is a great way to increase your combo number and produce more damage to your opponent. To switch characters in Arcade mode, you press both punch buttons (square and triangle) to choose your second character and your two kick buttons (x and circle) for your third character.
There are a total of 47 characters. You start off with 11 teams of 3 (33 starting characters) and unlock 14 more characters.

Personally, I usually use a team of Clark, Duck, and Geese (Leader) as my team, although I'm pretty decent with just about everyone.
If you love the King of Fighters series, and if you like fighting games, by all means the second you finish reading this review go and get this game, and much like NGBC it's only 15 bucks. I give this game a 10/10. Definitely among one of my favorites in the KOF saga.
