“I’d like to know more about it.” He knew that they wouldn’t really be able to go anywhere. Their freedom would be limited by duty. Riding Search could be a way to get away from the rigid structure of the weyr. Maybe he could even show Pectolath his grandfather’s cothold. Suddenly Pectolath opened his mouth and let out a big yawn. Shaking himself off, the young dragon looked at him. Understanding, Winderick looked at K’la apologetically. “We better rest up before the feast. I’ll see you later?”

Canoake let the tears stream down her cheeks. This was one time that the emotion was too much for her and she grasped T'go's hand. The song. The response of the other dragons, even Tatath was crooning softly. When W'lin and his bronze said their final goodbyes, Canoake stood. "I'm going to get some sleep and get ready for the Feast. Maybe see you over a glass if Benden later." ---------- Lyssa had been chatting with F'law when the last of the clutch Impressed. Eyes red, the Yirath's farewell and the dragons catching the song cut her deeply. But it was a wound that her bond with Malath would heal. Placing het hand on Malath's head, she followed blindly until directed to her barracks. She wondered as she allowed Malath's soothings to comfort her, who their room mate would be and how they would fare.

K’la rather doubted that he ‘just wanted to know.’ It was a rather specific question for a candidate that had just Impressed moments ago. Still, it wasn’t any of her business. She smiled as the pale blue suddenly yawned and nodded in understanding to Winderick. “Yes, I’ll see you at the feast. Go take care of him.” Yvoth, who was shifting anxiously, bent her head towards her rider, and once K’la had taken hold of one of her headhorns, she twisted her neck and lifted the petite woman onto her shoulder. Warbling a farewell to Pectolath, she crouched deeply and launched herself high into the air before winging away from the sands.

In the stands, Zhac was already standing and getting ready to leave. As heartwrenching as Yirath’s death had been, she had been the only casualty, and he was glad his prediction about the sensitive hatchlings had been wrong. All the same, he had no intention of attending the feast. “I’m going to see to Zhask. If you see any of our people, tell them to come down to the cross cavern supply room after the feast. It’s not official, but maybe we can sort some things out.” Waving farewell, he ambled off towards a darker corridor that led to the wher’s section of the weyr.

Kindra's eyes kept flicking between the little Gold and the Green that was pacing around the girls, the import of the Twin Golds hadn't really sunken in yet nor had she really thought about how much sat on the shoulders of whoever rode the newly hatched Queens. She found herself half hoping, half dreading that the remaining Twin would look her way.
She froze when the shining Gold stopped and turned her head her way. A couple of girls stepped forwards towards the now still hatchling but Kindra stayed where she was.
Kindramine, Come here. Your Suunath has been looking for you! .... Let us join Kheth and eat!
The moment she realised that the Gold was talking to her, she seemed to snap out of her daydreaming and thoughts, a great and very genuine grin appeared on her face. Pushing through two girls that dared to get between her and her Suunath with Barely an 'excuse me' she strode over, her head held high despite her stomach turning knots. "You.....you're really mine?" the question popped into her head before she could stop it.
"No, i just called to you and called you Mine because i thought it would be funny" retorted Suunath "Of course i am yours, and you are my Kindra, now, can we go and join Kheth and get me fed before they eat all the best bits" her last comment most certainly a statement and NOT a request.
Kindra held back and amused chuckle and settled for a private smirk instead before leading Suunath to the feeding tables. Once there both she and Suunath made their way straight to the biggest, freshest, most recently restocked bowls of meat. Grabbing two of them ....shards they were heavier than they looked... Suunath turned her head towards Orthoth as she made her way to Kheth.
"Will you be quieter Orthoth, i could hear you on the sands, there is no need for you to be that loud, I am sure you will be noticed well enough while being more quiet" she told him, adding privately to Kindra "If he works hard enough and deserves it Kindra would have giggled but Suunath added "Grab another Bowl Kindramine, we are going over to Kheth and Hers"
Kindra did as she was told before moving to follow Suunath who had already caught up to her Twin, greeting her with a chirrup and a sisterly nuzzle against Kheth's shoulder. "Has Yours got enough meat for you? ... Mine is coming with an extra bowl" Suunath informed her sister with an appraising eye at Kheth's, almost as if she was judging if the girl was good enough for her Twin, not that it mattered now they had found Theirs and they were all well and together.
Kindra reached Suunath, Kheth and Kheth's rider, she couldn't remember the girl's name. Juggling three heavy bowls of meat, she smiled at the other new Goldrider "Congratulations, These two were quite a surprise weren't they?" she greeted the other girl "Suunath couldn't wait to come over here to Kheth, I'm Kindra by the way" she added cheerily, juggling the bowls a bit to offer one to the girl "She also wanted to make sure Kheth wouldn't have to go and get her own apparently"
A sudden noise from the Sands made her turn and move to get a better look, almost immediately she wished she hadn't. The two Greens must have found theirs and Impressed because Yirath's eyes had gone white, losing even the grey of her previous despair. Kindra's heart beat hard in her chest as the great Queen, her Suunath's mother, began a strange noise that seemed to be a song of some sort. She blinked hard as tears fell unchecked, blurring her vision, when she opened them again Yirath had gone, caught up in the dragons' Keening she didn't even wonder how she had gone without a sound. Suunath beside her began her own keen, her voice wobbling and high pitched. The two of them, now linked until death, her sadness had Kindra on her knees beside her dragon, holding Suunath, sharing her grief, together. She was still holding onto Suunath when the keening changed to that strange song of Yiraths final moments, Suunath joining the mourning. It seemed fitting but Kindra, barely held from Suunath, felt a stab of fear of what the future held for her Suunath, Kheth and her rider, as well as for the other dragons hatched here today.
