So this is what it came down too..

"Jack's sake.." Cursing under her breath, Mei turned to look at the others as each of them volunteered to be the second student to be weaponized. "Obviously, none of us want each other to take the bullet for us, so we're just going to all volunteer to go in each others place? This is exactly what he's wanting! Even if what he says is true--that if we all go free--they'll just go and grab six others in our place--what's to stop them from doing that anyways? Nothing at all! We have no reason to believe that he will leave our friends alone. He said they have a system! Its just going to keep going, no matter what we decide here!"

Clenching her fists, she sneered at the hunter before returning her gaze to the others. "He said we have five days. Don't go make any decisions so hastily." Five days wasn't a lot of time, but a lot could happen in five days. If they rushed into death, then they might miss a chance of everyone getting out of here alive.

The Death lead shifted his gaze from Amrita, to Amphi, to Yin Cang. Quickly, quietly, he placed everything together, folder by folder, before turning his attention back to them. "Unfortunately I don't have all the time in the ******** world to listen to you lie to each other. I will keep my word, only one of you is needed. The rest will go free as promised, if we did not go by a system, then you would be missing more than just a few friends. Nothing is ******** coincidence, unless you wish to continue walking blind. We could take everything, but we rarely do. There is always a system, and it works by priority."

There was a light knock on the door. A tech carrying a small trolly came in. "Sir, we're here for the tagging."

A pause. "Proceed." Caelius intercepted the cart for just a second longer. "I will stay."

While the cart itself was not that intimidating, as the items in the tray became closer, the tension also grew thicker. On the surface of the cart was a tray covered in several utensils: a large flat tube of a needle, a pair of scissors and then overly large tweezers and finally, a strange, small item.

"Let me explain to you the procedure." It was the Death lead that spoke, not the tech, as he circled the students. The other Hunter simply shrugged and began to pull out a few more items, preparations. "As promised, we will let you go home, on the condition that you keep your promise. However, it would be unfair if we lost valuable information. An exchange. You become ours: our property, our eyes and ears, our mouth to be pupped when we need you, our Fear to be manipulated and we will in turn, let you go."

There was a loud whine and then a zap as the tech connected the tweezers to the runic device. They smiled slowly, clearly enjoying their line of work. "Don't worry now, we're just going to stick this right to your core, it'll fasten to your core you see, like a parasite. You wont feel a thing. Much of it. It's a procedure we've made to many of our specimens already, really, and they've all survived, all released and stuff so -"

The whining got sharper and-

- The Death Lead simply watched, expressionless. Halfway through the screaming he left, distracted instead by another relay of messages from his cell phone.

OOC

- You try to feel, you try to move back, but you feel numb. There's something about the room, something about... your Fear....that...... you close your eyes-

- And for a second experience a pain so bright for a second you think this is it, this is where you will disappear, for good, despite everything, as something worms its way inside you and crawls into a part of you you cannot explain, a thousand pinpricks of nausea and fear that you simply cannot pull away from. Whatever it is, it is now a part of you, betraying your every move. Perhaps at this point you are no better than just a weapon.

OOC: Your character has been TAGGED. This may activate (GM requests), or your character may find themselves even GM'ed at some point to act beyond what they normally choose to do, or it may simply do nothing for now. The item cannot be destroyed unless the student's Fear core is shattered entirely (ie: they are dead) OR they have been converted.

Yin did not want, nor did he need, to make decisions hastily. He just had to make a decision before the ghouls did. The hunter on the other side of the glass took that decision from them all, making it rather pointless for the moment. A system, a priority. Did that mean that they might take another even if he volunteered? Even if he offered to do absolutely whatever it took to let the others leave the hunters hopefully unscathed?

A knock at the door interrupted both the speech and his thought process. The trolley that was pushed in pulled at his attention and he simply stared, the materials unusual to him. He recognized some items, though some looked a bit different to him, but there was a small item there that was completely unrecognizable. It was a horrible fascination to stare at while the hunter spoke, eyes trained on the tech's hands as more items appeared. They were going home, et cetera et cetera et cetera...no. Not this. He was not property. He was his own person and no one would puppet him or manipulate him like this. That would not be freedom.

The electricity frightened him, the strange things that he did not understand, particularly since he had only encountered electricity in any form about nine months prior. The whining seemed to almost block out the hunter's voice and Yin tried to scramble back. But it was sluggish, he could not really feel what he was doing, something seemingly draining him or muddling his Fear or something he really could not place. He closed his eyes, trying to clear his head, and pain shocked his body. It was comparable as to what he had experienced in Trance when they had been weaponized, fully convinced that his Fear was going to shred apart and everything was going to be over. Pain diving down into him, pain he could not get away from. Screams were forced out of his body, filling the air with the vocalization of his pain, the only protest he could muster and all it was was empty. Useless.

When it was over there was not even the joy of relief. No, the pain might have been knocked back, maybe he would be fine now, but it would never be okay. That....thing, the parasite or whatever it was, was inside him. Marking him. Turning him. Making him a weapon still in student guise. At some point he had collapsed onto the floor but he could not even bring himself to get up. There just was not enough of a reason to.

She wasn't angry at any of them for volunteering, really, not when she would have done the same. She was scared--terrified for them. She had been witness to one weaponization already, she did not want to witness a second. Israfel may have been weaponized, but at least he chose it himself, unlike the rest of them.

When the death lead spoke again, Mei closed her eye, wishing he would just disappear, along with his damn system.

Her attention was drawn to the sound of the knock when the other hunter entered. Though, what he brought with him made the doll a little uneasy. On first glance, she had no idea what it was he had with him. It didn't take her long to clue in.

"You're..what!? No way!" Their property? To do what they wanted, when they wanted? Like hell she would just agree to something like that! She didn't care if freedom was the payoff. There was no way she would betray her kind--put others at risk--just to go home. However, it was clear they had no say in this.

Distracted by the tool in the tech's hand, she barely understood what he said over the sound emitting from it. Every instinct she had, told her to get the hell away from that thing, but instead, she found herself drained and sluggish in movement.

Barely conscious, but aware of the pain crawling through her body, Mei could hear screams. Whether it was her screaming, or the others, she couldn't be sure. All she did know, was that the hunter was full of s**t when he said that it wouldn't hurt much.

If she didn't hate hunters before this, she surely did now.

Everything Amrita had to say died on her lips. A refute for Yin, an agreement with Mei, the need to insist she wasn't lying...all of it was left unsaid. Tagging? Why did that word sound so familiar...

The cart had her attention next, staring at the instruments. They looked harmless to her, things she saw on a semi-regular basis whenever Christof or Malodore repaired her; she needed repairing a lot lately. It was the strange item that seemed odd to her, that was something she hadn't seen before. It took her a few moments to actually listen to what was being explained to her, and she almost wished she hadn't.

"WHAT?! No!" She cried out, her voice echoing in the little room. Property? They were...they were to be puppets?! Dread filled her at the thought, and suddenly she realized where she had heard the term tagging before; minipet companies were trying to create them to keep tabs on lost pets. Only they didn't mean to just keep tabs on them; they'd use them, spy on Halloween through them...

A panicked gasp left her throat and she tried to move, tried to get both herself and Amphi away from the tech, but no matter how hard she tried she couldn't. "
Y-you basta---" Her limbs weren't responding to her, talking was now impossible, and there was a noise echoing through her ears, shaking her down to her core. She felt heavy and numb; her mind fuzzy, eyes heavy. Moving was impossible, no matter how hard she tried.

Her eyes closed despite herself, her words trailing off into silence before they raised again into a blood curdling scream. It was too much. The pain was so intense all she wanted to do was have it end. Kill her, put her in the weapons chamber, anything but this! Through the pain and nausea she could feel something invading, worming it's way in and taking root. It was there, she could feel it; but she could never figure out where; it was everywhere, and no where.

When it was over she found herself on the ground, curled up tightly in a fetal position. Her body trembled and shook, both from the lingering aftermath of the pain and her body trying to adjust to this new parasite. As she came back to her own senses, everything rushed through her at once; the truth of what happened, the fear, anger, loathing, disbelief, pain; all of it, coupled with the tiny shred of hope that this was just another dream. A Trance, nothing more. It wasn't happening, it couldn't be happening; but deep down she knew it was. It was too real for her to really believe that. The strange feeling down to her core wasn't something she could ever imagine.

So many emotions fighting for the spotlight, too many. Unable to handle it she simply shut down, becoming numb.

Zar felt more like a coward the longer the others discussed who would take the fall and be weaponised. Through it all though, he knew that he could not do it himself. Silence was all he was capable of and he refused to so much as meet anyone's eye.

He listened in a distant sort of silence as the death hunter explained things to them, looking up with a frown as the tech entered. Tagging. That certainly didn't sound fun. He assumed he would be able to say no to this absurd proposition, to be the property of the hunters, to be used. But there was no chance to object, no lapse in the discussion.

He almost tried to run away from it before the sound sharpened and he could do nothing at all.

Nothing at all but wish very suddenly and intensely for death as a pain beyond dissipation seized him. He couldn't breathe, couldn't move, couldn't even tell if it was his own screams or the others. It didn't matter, it was pain beyond imagining and he wanted it to stop.

As it did, he could only flop onto the bed, breathless and horribly aware of that feeling that something foreign was now part of him, and that there was nothing at all he could possibly do about it. Helplessness.

The rest of the evening passed by relatively peacefully, quietly. It was hard to tell, in a room that continued to gleam a brilliant white, what exactly the time was, and harder still for creatures used to Halloween to rest, even close their eyes. After what seemed like hours of dreamless sleep, there was a slight noise - two lab techs arguing outside. The door slammed open and -

"We're moving you. Hurry up." One of the techs pressed a button: immediately the students felt the same sensation again, tired and lethargic. They moved sluggishly, at the beck and call of both Hunters, carried once again to the hallway outside.

Amphi shrinked away as the death lead came in again, spouting nonsense that would put the mermaid in a state where she wondered just how much more could handle from the Hunters? Just how much longer could she remain passiveness to them and their constant beating down on them?

The answer wasn't long. And the more time passed as he talked, the less hopeful Amphi felt about their situation. It took a turn for the worst when he explained tagging them. Like the game? Just what were these hunters...No. It wasn't a game. She looked at the utensils on the cart, back to the tech.

They were going to put something inside her, something she wouldn't be able to control and be controlled by. She shrieked before falling under a heavy spell, her body crumpling and then laying there as they dug into her. Down to her core, to inside her. She screamed with pain as it gripped into her body, sliding, moving...Invading her until she could no longer even scream. Her mind shut down from pain, her body limp as she slid to the ground and laid on the cool surface.

She didn't even protest as the tech moved them somewhere else. When she opened her mouth to say something...nothing came out...not a sound from the little mermaid.
