"Got hired to set fireworks on the Kartels. Job was done, didn't make it back to collect the payment. I don't exactly fly like my old man does," Dyaus closed his marked green eyes, "I'm not exactly a feather weight."

"As noted, yer a heavyweight, I can tell." He then looked in the direction of the other Launcher and the Mechanic, "An' them? They remind me of ol' Aishi an' Gane" He scratched his red locks and looked back at Dyaus and Verla, "So, all three of ye are down here? An' what about yer mo'er?"

"No idea. I haven't seen her in years. I told Ibsen not to follow me into the Outlaw District, but surprise surprise. As for Jo, I have to get my hands on that cherry-pink-turned-tomato-red sister of mine to know why she followed us down.." Dyaus flattened his lips. It was obvious that the outburst was built up from the stacked stress and pressure. As if contained rage did any good. Then again, the launcher didn't vent as easily as his father did.

"Yer gettin' yerself worked up. I know yer always workin' I jus' know these things, Relax fer a few days, Hell, I've got no choice but to" He motioned toward the broken arm, "Ye dun vent like yer da' that's how I know yer stressed."

"How can I stop? Now that I know the other two are down here, I'm a little more than worried about mom. I'm not about to stand around here helpless while the Kartels make another run on mom. They already took dad, that's more than enough," Dyaus growled as he looked up at the sky.

"I know who took Izod, an' I want revenge just as much as you do, but Dyaus, it's still a dangerous mission, you an' I both know tha'. If anything mammy is safe, I know her, she's smart." Sigma had always called her that if it wasn't something else. Mammy, it was her name and no one else's name.

"Smart yes, but lady luck isn't watching then. . . " Flashes of memories flew through his mind. He heard gunshots, yelling and then the sight of his father's corpse. Dyaus shook it out of his mind, this was not the time to re-live that night. "I just don't want to see that happen again. . . Or come back to a funeral."

"I know th' feelin' Dy. I've known it all my life. . . but yer pushin' yerself too hard. If you push too hard, you'll wind up in a shallow grave. As much as you want t' go back, so do I. . ." He looked up, "But we can't decide when we go back, fate does. . . and fate can be a cruel woman sometimes, but she is always just."

"So you're saying that my father deserved to die that night?" Dyaus asked with bitterness or was it anger rising again? He really didn't care right now which one it was. "Shallow grave or not, I'm not stopping until I know those Kartels are dead. Besides, you can't be a mercenary until you're ready to die anyways."

Bitterness showed in the older Spitfire's face, "The hell d' ye mean?! Ye think I wanted t' see him die?! D' ye think I expected it t' happen?!" His emerald eyes seemed like they could pierce Dyaus from the outside in, "I've been ready t' die since the day I was born, I shot th' ring finger off a caretaker from an orphanage, stole my food, and continued t' survive until I met yer father, he was th' man I looked up to, th' man I saw as da' an ye think I wasn't there the day he died?! I was, and would never forget that day as long as I live, I want the fat cat dead in a shallow grave myself."

Dyaus glared right back, "If you were there, then what did you think was going to happen when your lot showed up at home in the dead of the night? You think that being armed to the teeth was going to mean small talk?" The launcher shook his head. "Amazing how long you left that b*****d to live. What were you doing all those years? Too busy playing good little soldier?"

Sigma physically twitched as he stared at him. He was there, but too late, they were keeping him at bay. . . and now this. There was nothing he could do about the fact, but it's never a time to fight, "They had me in the cellar of the HQ. Drugged me so I couldn't have any say in the situation. They knew my connections t' Izod, they knew I looked up t' him, they knew tha' he raised me fer a spell. There was nothin' I could do t' stop them, not a goddamn thing." Then he thought about what Izod spat before that, "An' playin good li'l soldier? Yer off yer rocker." He frowned, "I had been sendin' letters t' the Hawks fer years an' ruined more than one of the plots that the Cats had fer destroyin the Hawks. And as fer Arcane, I couldn't get close enough. He had a kitten with him tha' wouldn't leave me be. I'm sorry . . .Bu' yer pointin' fingers a' th' wrong person, Dy."

"Some great sabotage work you did. From what I heard, I was not the only one who was out looking for blood. I just chose the more direct approach. Now, I'll be leaving, so good day to you," with that the launcher just simply left the conversation. Then again, he was already steamed as is. Adding the reminder of his later father was another piece of tinder to the already burning fire.

The ginger watched the Launcher leave, a sharp pang in his chest momentarily returned, but that may have been the broken rib. He sighed the best he could before he turned toward the left behind ranger, "Afternoon t' ye lass"
"Yeah, you too. So, you knew Izod? My dad use to talk about him all the time. I still remember when we went to the funeral. . . dad wouldn't admit it, but he cried a little. . ." She smiled meekly, "I think he's just a little sour. . . he'll get over it. . . and his brother didn't help the situation much either. I'm Verla Langel. Nice to meet you, Sigma." She held out her hand.
"Aye, th' same t' ye lass" He shook her hand gently, "I suppose I should talk t' Dyaus more like he's my brother and no' just as a family friend."
"Might get you somewhere. . . So, you knew the Pita family, eh?"
"Aye. They were good t' me. I was like a son t' them for a spell." She could see the genuine smile play across his face, "Jocasta was still far too small, she probably doesn't even remember that I use t' change her diapers . . an' Ibsen. . . well. let's no' get too deep into conversation about Ibsen, I left 'efore he was born."
"I see."
The two began to talk about their lives on Empyrean, something Verla use to find useless to do, but she was glad she got it out as she sat at the bar table with him. They seemed to connect pretty well, and Verla was glad that she'd sat down to talk to him. It was nice to know someone else in Arad had a reason to go back. . . and who would have thought that was the reason why the Pita siblings wound up here. . . She felt bad for how Dyaus accused Sigma, but she didn't know what to do about the situation as it wasn't her situation to argue about. . .
"Maybe you should head back to your hotel...I wouldn't mind walking you."
"Really? Ah, yer a good lass." He smiled, "Thank ye."
"No problem."
~+~
As for the two escaped partners, they continued to climb the tower all day, mostly because they had to train anyway and complete some quest together. It was a long way up, but they didn't care. . . a few wounds here and a few aching body parts there, it was going to burn, but it was better than running from hand cannons and grenades!

Heavy steps echoed from the floor below the two empyreans. Not quite out of breath, but still working from the amount of stairs as well as the equipment being carried. That was then interrupted by the reemergence of the sky tower's resident creatures. Bodies were hitting the floor and several loud cracks of what sounded like stone. Possibly from the corpses that were having a party downstairs.
