"Okay, I have to ask this. Who is your lord and what is the big deal?" Syama asked annoyed at not knowing a thing about this lord. She mumbled under her breath. 'He's probably annoying freak that always whats his way.' She thought as she crossed her arms.

"I thought you would know judging by where I'm from, the lord I serve is Orochimaru, one of the Three Legendary Sannin and Kage of Otogakure."
Dosu found it odd that Syama didn't know who Dosu served, was she that alienated from the outside world that she had no clue who the current Kage and yet only Kage that Otogakure has ever had was Orochimaru? Dosu supposed Otogakure was quite new if one thought about it, maybe that was why she knew nothing of who Dosu served. Orochimaru was not always a very inspiring leader since he did experiment on a large number of other Shinobi, but Dosu was one of the few untouched of Orochimaru’s servants.

Your voice just rings a bell for some reason, for you see, I’m blind and unable to see, so I recognize people by their voices as a person with sight recognizes people through their face."
Yamikumo did indeed hear Kikyo's voice before, but he wasn't sure where or when and was thinking she had a relative at Otogakure, since Orochimaru rarely let anyone just leave Otogakure alive or unmarked by his power. Yamikumo couldn't place his finger on it and he was usually extremely talented at recognizing people. There were areas of Otogakure that Yamikumo were never allowed to go into, maybe Kikyo could have been there after all. On the other hand, the voice Yamikumo remembered was more high pitched, though that could factor in with age.
Dokuji sat idle in the Akatsuki hideout in the Land of Fire, waiting for Pein to administrate the Akatsuki’s next move. Over his time at the base, he had yet to encounter the other members, since they were probably out fooling around till Pein called them to gather here. The Akatsuki knew of the oncoming storm ahead and it was Dokuji’s guess that Pein would call the members to the Land of Fire to take advantage of such a moment or maybe he had journeyed here for nothing. If so, Dokuji could test the local Konoha population’s clans, though he was disappointed that the Uchiha were gone. That didn’t matter; the Hyuuga would still be fair game. Dokuji wasn’t called the Clan Slayer for nothing and his Swordsmen title was Slayer of the Hidden Mist, also derived from his tendencies to destroy entire clans. The Kaguya clan was one of his greater trophies due to their odd bone based Kekkei Genkais, but still a trophy of their leader was his. Dokuji wanted to see how a clan of Konohagakure would fair since Konoha was well known for their talent.
"When I was a kid. Orochimaru did experiments on me. I fled and have been here since." Kikyo replied, with a small shrug. "Now tell me, please, what has happened to Oto?"

Yamikumo got memories he had thought forgotten in his mind, remembering that little girl that he had met once before. She was younger then he was, but still a child like he was. When she ran away that day he saw her, the same day Yamikumo took his own eyes to avoid being Orochimaru's next host later on, seeing what could await him in Kikyo's retreat. It was Kikyo who was one of the factors that drove Yamikumo to blind himself since he saw what emotions were created in her through that moment by the experimentation, but he would keep that memory to himself since that seemed to be on a need to know bases.
"Orochimaru wants us to prove Otogakure's strength at the Chunin Exams, which was why he chose his best Genin to attend."
Another lie that Yamikumo had told in order to make their presence here innocent; if Kikyo was indeed once an experiment of Orochimaru's, maybe Orochimaru would like to know where she was. This would be Yamikumo's ticket to out doing Dosu again and no doubt he would get angry from such a victory on his own part. Dosu was never going to kill Blade since Orochimaru probably had plans for him, the same plans that were placed on Yamikumo in the form of the Curse Seal of Earth. The last one out of use was the Curse Seal of Heaven, but there was another problem; Blade wasn't the only Uchiha around. If Orochimaru wanted the Sharingan, there were two candidates here, because Yamikumo could hear the other one among the other Genin. Was this just a ploy to fool the disloyal followers or did Orochimaru really want Blade dead? It was unclear at the moment, so Yamikumo waited for Kikyo to speak.

Kovu looks up to the sky...
"I wonder where Itachi is, I mean I know I'm suppose to be his enemy given what he did to his clan, but that's not the Itachi that I know. Hmm... not that it really matters though no one in the village would understand him."
Kovu activates his sharingan.
"But I do..."
he then stands and stretches while yawning
"Man I hope these exams start soon"

"Fair enough, you all have right to take part in the exam." she said with a shrug. "Just kept in mind that I'm not like most of the genin from my village and I don't like my fiends being threatened." she smiled, trying to at least make Yamikumo know she wasn't actually threatening him, just warning him.

"I don't care and do not intend to keep with with such things." Syama frowned. "Oh the big head." She rolled her eyes. "I serve no one. I don't care how powerful or rich. I won't sink myself into the dirt below their feet." She said with a strong voice. "I won't become some slave or servent they can control and brain wash."

"Neither will I, I serve Orochimaru, not worship the ground he walks on. Those who suffer his wrath are those with no use to him and I have a use in Otogakure still. Though, after seeing what is outside Otogakure, I wish I could have been in a village not bathed in darkness."
Dosu could remember all the colors here in Konohagakure and all the people, in Otogakure there was just darkness and other Shinobi; nothing beyond that. There was no reason to be a Shinobi there other than to either be an experiment or a weapon of Orochimaru's sinister plans and Dosu was starting to wonder if that was his lot in life; to stay in darkness and obey a 'big head'. Being a Missing Shinobi was an option, but Dosu still had a grudge against Yamikumo that needed to be fulfilled.
The problem was, Yamikumo was blind and couldn't see Kikyo's smile, but understood what she meant. It was clear Konoha was a village of morals and not of logic, putting friend before mission. This could be used as an advantage later on or maybe clue in Kikyo about how the real world worked.
"An honorable cause, but you must understand how things work. In the moment a friend is in danger during a mission, saving that person could jeopardize the task at hand, which in some cases is no big deal. Then there is a time when you get a mission where you must conflict your morals with logic, a time when saving a friend could mean the death of many innocent strangers and that is when you realize the world is unfair. Everyone will realize this eventually Kikyo...Maybe you already have."

Kikyo shrugged a little, still forgetting Yamikumo was blind. Maybe she just figured he knew what she was doing by her tone.
"Yamikumo-san, I tend to go with the flow and hope everything turns out O.K." she said, looking at Yamikumo. "I always asses the situation and get a second opinion on it before acting. If I kill one person, but save five, I take the larger number. How ever, if I find a way to save the comrade and people, even if I'm in danger, I usually go with that route."
"Kikyo-chan..are you sure you should be telling an Oto shinobi all this?" Blade asked, looking at Yamikumo skeptically.
"I told you." Kikyo replied, leaning her head back on the wall. That, Blade knew, left no room for argument.

Blade glanced around and spotted someone watching them.
"Uh...Kikyo, do you feel like we're being watched?" he asked, hoping he wasn't just being paranoid.
Kikyo opened one eye to look at Blade.
"A lot of people are watching us." she replied. Blade looked around again and realized she was right.
