to and ya can be use in same sense, but ya is for more vague thing, like this that etc. but to is and for sure soshite is and between 2 things,slightly formal.

Question: Is "kaiteiru" the correct way to conjugate "kaku" into the "-teiru" form? I think I may have confused it with "kau."
