Note from Freakezette: We've decided to designate this as the "beginners" conversation thread, so people starting out can practice. If you fell you're at an intermediate level, please go to the "Nihongo no Topikku"

Here, it's pretty much just talking in Japanese I guess. If you don't know how to say something then just ask. To make this understandable for people just learning, please post the English too.

I'll start off.

Ohayoo gozaimasu/konnichi wa/konban wa. Ogenki desu wa? Genki desu. ^_^ Onamae wa nan to osshaimasu ka? Jackee to mooshimasu. Otoshi wa ikutsu desu ka? Juuroku desu.

English:

Good morning/good afternoon/good evening. How are you? I'm very well. What's your name? I am Jackee. How old are you? I'm 16.

there's already a "nihongo no topiku" (japanese topic) aimed at japanese conversation. But if you want to divide it into "beginners" and "intermediate" or "kana and romaji" topics, I think that would be good. please let me know.

It's "watashi wa". "da" is something totally different... I just learned that (actually I just took a test in which that was part of the grammar I was supposed to write) and I'm in Japanese II. >_>;

*douzo
*nyuu oriinuzu daigaku

Are you saying you're currently from "New Orleans University's library"? Or that you're currently in New Orleans University's library? The latter would be:
"Boku ga nyuu oriinuzu daigaku no toshokan ni imasu."

Also, "jyugyou" is another word for "class". ^^;;; It'd be "Boku no suugaku no jyugyou ga tsumaranai desu." There's another way to phrase both of those last two sentences, but that's getting beyond basic Japanese.

*Sorekara, in how you'd be using it, is one word, not two. If you're trying to say that you're sleepy, it would be "boku wa nemui desu".

I'm Aiko, pleased to meet you (how do you translate hajimemashite? >.>)
I'm Italian. I'm 17.

it's literally "this is the first time we've met" so, basically the equivalent of "pleased to meet you"

Like Freakazette said, "hajimemashite" translates pretty much to "pleased to meet you". It's usually used along with "douzo yoroshiku".

you did fine, are you saying you're going to Japan in September? You might want a "ni" after "kugatsu", that's all.
