Hailey was grinning from ear to eat as Malachi had his arm wrapped around her. This was the best place in the world to be and she was so happy about the ring that she couldn't stop staring at it. Well that is until she caught a pair of beady eyes staring from the side. Screeching, Hailey flung her arms up and side-stepped a few steps, nearly falling over.
The reaction from the plush that Malachi had just grabbed up was not what he was expecting at all. "Holy crap, Hailey! Are you okay? It's just a plushie... see?" he said, squeezing the plush and smiling as it made a squeaking noise. "I thought since you didn't like the real thing, you might like this one." And of the hopeful look on his face..
Oh boy... Plush or not, Hailey was noooot happy right now! "You know how much those stupid things freak me out, Khai! UGH!" Her eyes flashed and the wispy tendrils on her body whipped and faded while she was steamed. Of course, lucky for her boyfriend, she calmed down rather quickly. He looked too pathetically sad to stay mad at, especially after the gift he gave her. "Mood killer man!" Snitching up a bag of candies, she stuffed a chocolate in her mouth, huffing to herself.
Well that didn't go as planned at all. Malachi did a quick shoulder check to make sure that his new rat was okay, then looked back at his girlfriend with a sheepish grin. "Sorry Hailey..." Even though he didn't dare say it, he couldn't help think about how cute she was when she was mad... especially with her cheeks puffed out like they were. Even if it was mostly from the candy she kept stuffing in her mouth.
After his personal pep talk, Dodger was feeling almost at one hundred percent now! Well at least close to it. About a ninety five or so. Take or leave a couple decimal places. Shaking his arms out, while making quite the spectacle of himself, the mutt stepped up and clapped his large paws together. "Alright game. It's you and me now. I'mma make you my b---" but he stopped himself from finishing that word. There were kids around and he could feel the sting some glaring parental eyes on the back of his neck. Turning his head some, he mouthed an apology, then got himself back to game mode. "Let's do this!" And this go, he utterly destroyed the game. No seriously... He managed to break part of the stand! Trying so hard not to laugh, he reached out, accepting a mystery cage from the nightmare behind what was left and took off the other way asap. Peering under the cloth that had been covering the cage, he grinned as two little eyes opened and stared at him... upside-down like.
Matty laughed and shouted out at being chased, but luckily for him -- or maybe it was unlucky... hmmm... -- the necklace proved a great distraction! He beamed proudly as his suggestion was praised. But then again, just the fact that his cute roomie would want to have his picture in the locket made the guy absolutely thrilled! Though he'd hate to admit it just yet, he sure was beginning to crush on him hard.
The goblin gave a curious look at the candy being held out, grinning from ear to ear. "Well that's for damn sure!" he said with a playful tone. "But, then again, it's pretty fitting for you too, babe~" Matty winked before snitching up the candy, the wide grin on his face still there.
Setting her sights on finding more pretty things for Charma and the house Pawsa was going to make her, she suddenly became quite distracted as she saw a table of chocolates. "Oh damn... I need some of these in my life..." Her snake didn't protest -- or so she said to herself as an excuse -- so she went right over and began just about drooling over the candies. There were so many kinds and they all looked so good! How was she ever going to decide?! While attempting to figure out what she wanted, her eyes skimmed over the table. Of course it really didn't take her long to decide once she spied an eye-catching rainbow box. If there was one thing she was, it was a rainbow hoarder. Not giving it a second thought, Pawsa scooped up the box, paid for it, and ran away with it as if she had stolen precious treasure while giggling like an excited school girl.
Most satisfied with himself, Ezekiel decided it was time to get something to munch on. There were chocolate brownies on a nearby table, and they smelled like they were to die for! The little Goblin took the couple steps needed to bring himself to the table to grab them, but just as he was going for them he heard a strange buzzing sound! Then he saw what was making it and backpedaled! "AWAY WITH THEE, FOUL CREATURE!" he shouted out while trying to shoo the animal away.
Mai Tai blinked as her friend overreacted to the fuzzy little bug that was just minding its business. With a soft giggle, she reached out and coaxed the critter into her arms. As the bug rested there, she picked up the brownie bag and held it out to Ezekiel... who was quite pleasantly surprised at her bug charming skills!
Back in the nursery, the Hunter's Jubliee had been all about candy and toys. It was only since he had come to school that Thian had learned it meant more than that to most Nightmares, especially older ones. It meant hugs and muzzy smiles and hooded glances, and the demon was beginning to think that maybe he had never really liked it at all. He had been deluded, duped into accepting something really, really stupid.
Thian wove his way through the crowd to the swag tables, Amory's hand reluctantly in his. He wasn't much for hand holding, but he didn't want to misplace her, the only person he could stand in this cloying mass of Above and Below.
For every negative notion that crossed Thian's mind, Amory seemed to let one of hers go, as if she could peer inside his head and see his thoughts angrily churning away. In the weeks since they had met they had delighted in deliberately running contrary to one another, and in keeping with the theme, she was determined to take some sliver of joy out of this party today, een though she normally found these gatherings rather horrible.
No matter how hard she was trying, it didn't stop her from wiping her palm on her pants when Thian let go of her hand.
He passed her a plush vespercat, took one for himself, and with a shared nod they moved on.
Even though the boy had been so nice to her, and even offered to be a guide to all things academy and event, Callie began to feel herself getting anxious and nervous all over again. She wanted to accept his offer so badly, but she was so scared that she would sound so silly with her questions and not knowing anything that the neko shook her head. "Uhmmm... I'm... I'm really sorry, but I have to go do something that I forgot about... Bye!" and with that, she turned tail and rushed away quickly. Callie felt terrible for taking off on him... Maybe she'd get the chance to make it up to him later when her anxiety wasn't getting the better of her.
Shef shallowly shook his head, wondering what a pink stone had to do with their fellow instructor, at least until the connection came to him in a flash and he didn't have to wonder anymore. No, now he was just stunned. Had Amihan imbued a stone? Was she going to be a parent? And the timing! Had she entered into the same blind pairing group that he had? Might they have been paired together?
He felt a little lightheaded, squaring his hooves so he didn't sway on his feet. "No. Ishy hasn't told me anything. Do you have news?" His voice had only gone weird and squeaky there a little bit at the end. It was barely noticeable at all.

Dante pursed his lips in thought and kicked his legs again, turning his attention to them. "We could go play some games or ask Ms. Kyoko and Shinobu about going somewhere for lunch instead of candy... Anything you wanna do? I'm up for games!" The demon looked back at Ivy with a grin and blinked, his face becoming curious as he looked past the Imp. His grin returned and he hopped up, handing Jam to Ivy despite the feline's protesting meow.
The young demon ran over to Shinobu and pulled the older demon down to whisper in his ear. The mute mutant smiled at Dante and handed him something from what he was holding. Moments later, Dante returned with his hands behind his back. "Okay, close your eyes!" When Ivy did as he asked, Dante reached up to put a purple rose in her hair, right behind her ear. "Okay, you can open them again!"
He was blushing again, hoping she would like the gift. Ivy liked plants, didn't she?
Gifting to Ivy:
Lady Argentum Draconis
Shinobu decided to add a bouquet to all of the things he was getting Elsie and he grinned brightly, nodding his thanks to the vendor. He was about to turn back to Kyoko when little Dante came running up to him. The senior smiled when the younger demon asked him for the one stray purple flower in his bouquet to give his friend. Dante was obviously crushing on little Ivy, it was precious.

Kyoko was once more buying candy. She had a problem and she refused to own up to it. She would buy all the candy if she could, but she settled for one bag for now and sat down on a bench near Dante and Ivy, waiting for them to decide what they wanted to do.
After finding another ring for Joseth, Burvia was quite pleased with herself. Now her boys would match, and while they'd probably think the rings were meant to symbolize the two of them, they were from Burvia! It would connect the three of them all across the board. Burvia just hoped that Jo would like the blue colour she picked for him. Perhaps she should have gotten him silver like Esrael's to match?
Shaking her head subtly, there was no going back. The deed was done, and now it was time to officially start hunting for her friends.
It took a little while for Burvia to stop going in circles. The places was so large, and there was so much to see, but a lot of the booths had the same items up for sale, and so it was a little disorienting. But finally, the geist girl found a familiar figure, and hoping it was one of her friends darted her way through the crowd, turning parts of her limbs intangible with much determination (and as a result of much practice) so as not to hit anyone on her way through.
Tendrils flickering softly, as Burvia got closer she knew it was her Rae from behind.
"Rae-Rae~!" the girl called out cutely, closing the distance between them and slipping a hand under his arm. "What are you doing out here in this crowd ... are you alright?" the pale geist examined her friend for a moment, trying to gauge his anxiety levels. She knew the boy had it, but Burvia didn't know if it was as bad as some people could get it.
"I got you something!" she changed the subject, opening her hand to reveal the silver ring in her hand to him. "I hope you like it. I got Joseth one to match!"
Burvia only then realized the other person and blinked a touch owlishly as she turned to address them. "Oh! I'm so sorry! Am I interrupting?"
Winding her way back to the books she was relieved to see the crowd had gone down. Browsing the books she really wasn’t surprised to find a lot of steamy romance novels among them after all it was the season for such a thing. Still she noticed one that looked like it had a decent plot even if a few of the scenes were hot enough to many any nightmare blush. Deciding she found a winner she tucked it under her arm and continued to look at the books in case something else popped up at her.
Gifted from honi pi’s verve to Eve and I’m placing it here so I don’t forget it
The Chimera was polite and offered the Goblin a pretty smile. "Sorry, I didn't realize I was in your way ... " she murmured almost under her breath. She glanced down at the goblin's choice, curious as to what he had gotten, and then caught herself smirking a little to herself as she realized the two were walking away with the same exact plushie. "Ah! I see we have similar tastes!" she said, fully removing her earbuds from her ears incase the daydream decided to have a conversation with her.
Having a conversation with someone in the flesh didn't seem like such a bad idea. The most offline talking Rajna got was for class projects or from teachers scolding her about her work ethnic and aloofness. Rajna made the executive decision over her life to at least try and hold a conversation, even if only for ten minutes. Maybe, if she was lucky, she'd make a friend.
The cool coloured Chimera lifted the strap of her messenger bag ever so lightly to gesture to it, the little wing of the blush still sticking out from where she had previously stuffed it. "I just picked out the same one for a friend. He's an upper classmate, so I don't really know if he's 'too old' or 'too cool' for things like this, but I figured it's worth a shot, yunno?" the Chimera shrugged easily. "And you? Any plans to gift yours? Or is it for keepsies?"
Kroll was spinning the rose around when she noticed the plushie. It was a blue vespercat plush. Thinking of the one at home on her bed she chuckled. She was going to add to the blue collection. Rather she was going to start a blue vespercat plush collection as this would only be number two. But it would be something cute and fluffy that her little pet would snuggle up and hide with when company came so that was fine.
'Lilah turned an even deeper red, just about as red as she could go, when the arm went around her. She didn't know how to interpret this at all... Was this new girl flirting, or just very very physical, or what? In her nervousness, 'Lilah picked up a VERY pretty purple rock off the table and began to play with it, in her hand on the side opposite from the arm. "Iiiii am glglglad you're ok." 'Lilah practically whispered. "I'm Delilah. Ih...Ih... It's nice to meet you." Oh gods, she was stuttering like a fool!
The heat was starting to rise in Aten's cheeks, making his face look a little more red than usual. He was trying so hard to keep his composure, but this was the final straw with Smolder. He had been so patient, and tried so hard to be understanding. Yet, here they were again, in yet another predicament where Smolder had failed and potentially endangered one of the children. He was absolutely livid, but he didn't want to make a show of his anger in front of the kids. He would save his words for later when the kids were asleep and it was just Cassie to overhear.
Taking in a slow, deep, breath Aten attempted to calm himself. Smolder could sense his partner's anger and winced under his younger companion's much taller stature. Now he felt like the child. Again. This was becoming a much more frequent affair. Maybe ... it was time for a change.
Aten had been about to open his mouth to say something when Anubis teetered in to view. The child was pouting, no doubt upset about being left behind, and Aten couldn't control himself as he swooped in and scooped the child in to his arms and held his son close, pressing his forehead to the child's head.
He hadn't realized how much his heart was beating, or how hard. He was just relieved his child was safe.
"I was worried about you ... " Aten whispered in a hushed tone so only Anubis could hear.
Smolder lifted a hand to reach out to touch Aten's shoulder, but he hadn't expected Aten's response. The imp's head whipped around as he hissed violently at the fallen, Smolder recoiling in shock once more, revealing two row of slightly pointed teeth. "Whoa!" Smolder cried, putting his hands up as if to brace himself. He had never seen Aten this way before. "Chill out, dude! It was an honest mistake! It could have happened to anyone, including you!"
"Chill. Out?" Aten asked him dangerously, as if trying to clarify whether or not he had really just said that to him. Was he that dense? Taking a moment to take another, deep breath in, Aten continued. "I don't think you realize, Smolder, just how bad this could have been. You're an adult -- you're a parent. You should be more observant of your surroundings and taking care of your children. This never should have happened."
The imp gently placed Anubis on the ground and glanced at the rest of his family. Raa was trying to act like he had seen nothing, while Rhys was still too busy flashing his gift at his mom, awaiting her approval. He was too distracted to have cared.
Giving a soft sigh, Aten shook his head and his shoulders loosened a bit. This was the extent of his apology for his outburst, though he felt entirely justified in his reaction.
Panda Moor
from Smolder. Of course he'd pick the derpiest thing to give her <3

Aten: None -- too busy being angry, probably.
Smolder: to Cassie from Smolder. Of course he'd pick the derpiest thing to give her <3
Rhys: because APPARENTLY this child NEEDS more reason to be crazy?
