"Yes, that would be the responsible thing to do. But I think our conversation has established that, um, not everyone is very ethical. Though I guess when the event is free..." Zey shrugged. "Well, I guess the school might have paid them, but still. Wait, did that make them want to make it all cheap? Why did everything have to be an infinite loop today?
Zey sighed glumly. A filtration system. Just what zey needed. Pets were going to be an awful lot of work... "Well, I'll do my research before I buy anything. Um, I want a good pump, not one that's going to break on me the moment I turn my back."
Zey picked up another beanbag and shrugged. "One more. Then I think I'm done for the day. Um. That is, um, if you are?"

There was almost nothing left by this point. Zalir examined the row of plushies, finally picking out one with the least eye-searing color--a polka dotted blue fox. It wasn't really zeir color. "I think I'll give this to someone else," Zalir said with a blush. "Um, a freshling, probably. Someone who needs a friend."
From the sounds of it, the party was almost over by the time Quilo found out about it. It was mostly from the people coming back to the dorms with lots of new toys and trinkets. With Malia, his stuffed rabbit, dangling at his side, the little Geist raced down the corridors towards the eating hall. Peering in past the legs and tails, he could see game after game after game, stuffed with all new things to explore! He grinned. This was going to be a good day. With one last check that Malia was adjusted, he set off through the crowd to inspect the games.
There were oh so many. He wondered if he'd be able to get to them all in time. Didn't seem too likely, which was disappointing. But at least he ought to be able to get something. He pushed his hair back out of his face, securing it with a hair clip, and walked up to the first booth. It was a simple ring toss game, and there were all sorts of nifty toys tied to the wall. There were holes that showed that a lot of them were missing, like they had all been taken already, but there were plenty to catch a little Geist's eye. With a big smile at the grown-up standing by, he picked up a plastic ring and flung it at the poles.
"Very true, but people generally want to be more honest when it comes to kids. Most of the time anyway..." he shrugged and sighed.
"I'm sure we'll be able to find something suitable I don't know a lot about filtration systems, but that is what the clerks at the store are for."
"Uh..."He watched Zalir play the game and then looked casually at his watch. Where had the day gone? Well it wasn't necessarily a bad thing, and he'd had fun, more fun than he'd had in a long time actually. "Congrats. Yeah, I'm feeling pretty done myself. It's going to take us at least an hour to get the water right for your jellies." he smiled a bit. "That's very kind of you. In the mean time shall we go find a bucket or something?" he said motioning towards the door and following the Litch out and away from the festivities.

"I hope so. But I'll, um, try to keep in mind that it may not necessarily be true."
Clerks at the store...oh my. It began to dawn on Zalir that having pets would put zem into contact with a lot more people. Zey opened their bag and peered at the brightly colored animals within. Their thin tentacles trailed along behind them, making lines and runes in the water. They were so delicate and beautiful, and their bright colors seemed to almost glow. It would be...worth it, for their sake, to reach out to other people. If social interaction was necessary for their survival...Zalir would do it. Zey closed the bag again and looked up at Vaden. "Yes, and if they don't know, they could tell us where to look it up, I'm sure. Um, some magazine or catalog somewhere."
Zalir nodded. "Yes. A bucket sounds like a good idea right now. I'll, um, show you where the janitors are, shall I?" Zey smiled shyly at zeir new friend and followed him out the door and into the new school year.

Tarin wandered around the event peering into the stalls curiously but not stopping to really play anything. She was still adjusting to the Academy and almost wished Maddie was here to walk with, even if her sister sometimes annoyed her. She hadn't even brought her plushie, maybe a mistake in hindsight, but if she was carrying around the toy she wouldn't be able to carry all the things she won if she decided to play the games? That was a very practical way to look at it.
She wandered back up towards the front of the room and spotted a Geist boy that looked familiar. It took her a moment before she remembered that they were in the same room in their dorm. Well, that worked. She wandered over and waited for him to be done with the game.
"Hi, I'm Tarin." she said matter of factly. "We're in the same dorm. What's your name?" she asked tilting her head slightly, before having a ring put in front of her by the stall keeper and encouraged to play.
============
She hadn't even really been aiming, but she managed to land one of the rings anyway. "Huh..." she blinked a little and then looked over the toys on display. "I'll take that one I suppose." she said pointing at a purple vespercat.
Once she had the toy she turned back to the Geist boy.
Laurel, ever determined, decided to try one last time to win the blue plushie on the wall. He aimed carefully, leaned forward, and threw his shots, before throwing a fist in the air and cheering. He'd hit three balloons! He won his choice of a plushie! He bounced up and down.
"I got it, I got it! I knew I could do it!" He exclaimed, snuggling the plushie close. "I'm gonna get some candy to celebrate!"
And now he has all the plushies this game has to offer him. Good work, Laurel! LOL.

"I think I have all I want!" Jezebeth wouldn't really be able to carry anymore if she continued to win items they way she had been. Already she had two new Skyfish to care for, and they were her priority at the moment. All this walking around had started to tire her out as well. Maybe it was time she headed back to her dorm for the rest of the evening.
She yawned and looked up at Cassie. "I had fun hanging out with you Cassie! But I think I'm going to head back to my dorm now. Thanks for all the advice!" The little Fallen smiled up at her companion and gave her a little wave as she headed toward the doors. "Don't be a stranger!"

The pink-haired girl nodded a little, not offended in the least. She brushed her bangs up. "You did win quite a lot," the Fallen agreed warmly. Cassie continued to smile though as Jezebeth thanked her. "I'll come visit some time," she promised, waving with her fingers. With that, she watched the small Freshling go.
She turned back to the party, folding her arms loosely. She wasn't sure if there was much she wanted to go before concluding her time at the event too. Cassie scratched her cheek with a finely manicured nail before slipping back into the crowd.
Well that was an easy win for sure, and a familiar no less! He was for sure going to look forward to receiving his new friend. Not only that but because he won a prize he got to try for another spin. Getting ready to go again, he took a deep breath before giving the spinning wheel another go.
After cleaning up after herself, Pepper decided to just look through the rest of the party. She'd mostly stuck to the games, and wanted to see what was going on with the rest of the celebration. There were plenty more games, but most of their prizes had been won or given out already. Pepper just observed some of these, wondering if they were any fun to play. She tried one or two, but didn't end up winning anything.
As she made her way throughout the room, she noticed that the other nightmares were starting to trickle out. 'Was it so late already?' Pepper thought with a frown. She still had to finish her homework!

Cassie wedged herself into the corner, finding an empty chair near the food. She fluffed her new plushie under her fingers, just smiling as she watched the on goings. Everything was winding down and others were seeming to trail off into their conversations. Stretching, she look one last lap around the event, but unfortunately didn't find any games that struck her interest. Maybe next time.
