Bear in mind that if I were less expensive, I'd have more requests than I could meet.
Bear in mind as well that if you actually charged people the 60 grand plus you truely think your art is worth, you would have little to no requests.
If it was really worth as much as you say it is, you would have no trouble selling it at that price at a profitable markup.
However, you probably make more profit at the level you do charge, instead of the level you wish to charge.
Trust me, the economics which you bring to bear still have no impact on the truth of my words.
The time you spend on one sole picture alone is worth more than a month on gaia. If you don't believe me, try making 20 grand from pollwhoring, posting, fishing, or gambling (no selling of clothing or art or letters), and see if you can make it. And then, if you want a challenge, keep up with your gaian life.
I'm simply stating that the price is just exorberant to anyone who doesn't have a source of income besides the normal way of earning gold.
Plus, you have a computer helping you do your art. I would be sympathetic if you actually did everything, colors, shading, drawing, the whole shabang, if it was all by hand. But with photoshop or other picture programs, I find no reason to whine about the time it takes to make a picture, because without the program, it would take much longer.
Hence, why my statement, in my opinion, is perfectly valid. You draw a couple lines, put it in the computer, waste perhaps a week of your life in front of the monitor, and you've made a profit of about 15k. And then, to go ahead and insult others by saying you don't make enough profit, that instead, you should make a profit of 55k?
Excuse me if you think I'm taking this too seriously, but its just like pilots making 100 grand a year tax free. And them complaining that they don't make enough. Other people would give their bodies just to sit in a jet-plane, and the fools that fly them complain about not making enough money?
I call it gluttony. I call it greed. I'm not against making a profit. But then again, monopoly's such as the government are often unable to make anythign work, because there is no incentive to do anything better.
Consider that. Economics negates your theory tenfold. You don't charge less, because if you do, you'd have to work more. Hence, you, the buisness, charge more, and create a surplus of art. Despite being bad buisness practice, you don't realize that you actually hurt your enterprize more than help it. But you're satisfied, and therefore, nothign else matters.
20k for a headshot? I'd hate to ask for a full-body shot lucca. I'm not going to give 75k on up for a pic of a single jedi.
