Rouge did see whatever it was nearly missing the playpen. Quickly she grabbed the edge and with all her might, from her hidden position, hauled it closer behind the bar and out of as much danger as possible. Gawd she was more used to being on the frontlines and killing not comforting frightened children. That was Etce's job. Where was her brother when she needed him?

Talbar couldn't do much more, laying on the ground. The bullets constantly being unloaded into him were taking a toll - but he knew he could get it back.
He turned up, trying to grab at anyone's energy that he could, the holes filling as soon as they were made at the expense of those fighting him.
If he died, he'd take everyone with him.

Artemis screamed- Xerksis snarled. "Shutup." He told the girl, searching for something to shove in her mouth. Instead, he did something that counted close to mauling her, already stressed out enough. He shoved his larger weight at the girl, trying to pin her down and cover her mouth. He didn't want to hear that noise any more.
That was all it took. The trigger was pulled in rapid succession, firing those plasma rounds at the fallen troll while he was still done. Kyo herself stayed low to the floor, ready to conjure a barrier if that thing managed another ball of that gray energy. As for Danny? Kyo was desperately trying to pull at the woman's body with her psionic ability. If she could touch her, maybe she could cancel out that magic. Maybe.

Ari felt so tired....she fainted on the couch clinging to the wand.
In her dreams she felt as though she was flying through the stars of space..

A gun? A gun? What the heck would an Elf use a gun for. Kyocho stared at the pile of weapons. Hopping there would at least be a quiver of arrows and maybe a bow would be buried beneath the others, but no luck. Picking up one of the stray guns. The elf's eyes wandered down the barrel of the gun. Taking in the intricate design of the weapon. It was a fairly simple build. Something that an inventor could create.
Aiming the mechanism at the troll-like creature. The elf cocked the barrel and pulled the trigger. Sending flying objects through the air and toward the troll.

When Xerk mauled Art Rouge had to step into action. Reaching in she used her larger weight to practically rip the boy off of Art and restrain him. She was gentle enough not to hurt either child but her strength was enough to get the stressed boy off of the girl. "Art you've gotta be quiet or you guys will all get hurt." she told the little girl. "And Xerk you trying to shut her up will only make her more upset. You're a big boy, you've gotta be good or you guys could get hurt."

Oh ................ holy ................ s**t
The magic seeped straight through her skin like a knifeslash; every inch of Danny's flesh went running with shivers, stiffening her back and her legs, locking her hands around the grip of the gun as her eyes went wide and face ashen. And for a wild, hopeful moment, she thought that that might be all the effect that the magic had had.
The first second passed.
She tried to take a step forward, as if to try and establish that she was still alive. The leg moved, then slipped; the woman crumpled forward to the ground. What color had been remaining to her, was now being leeched at a frightening rate. She could feel everything just... draining out of her. A broken bottle on the ground, no longer able to hold onto any of its substance, liquid trickling down to be sucked hungrily into the ground....
The second second passed.
Did I... I screwed up, didn't I? Oh, yes, she did. She knew it. She'd lost it; lost everything. So close to finally getting her degree, all the hours she'd sunk into her schooling were now wasted. She'd always thought she'd had a future. She'd planned it out. Get a degree, get a career, fall in love, get married, have two children- one boy, one girl... live happily ever after.
She hadn't thought it was too much to ask. And when Vana had come into her life, she thought it'd been ruined....
And now, no sooner than she'd discovered that her life was still an open book, that she and Vana could live and grown and find a great new future in front of them.....
The third second passed.
Barely able to so much as roll her head, Danny couldn't even get a good look at the ghost child she'd grown so fond of. It was probably just as well; she didn't know if she'd want Vana to have that sort of memory on her anyway. Still, the little girl's face was all too clear in her mind. Never fallen in true love, so seperate from her friends and family... sometimes, Vana was all that she thought she had. It was all she had right now, at least. She was... terrified. Terrified of losing her baby.
But she wasn't losing her baby. Vana was still alive, still well... and maybe she'd be able to get out of this mess. Danny sure wasn't going to.
I love you, babe. I really, really love you, and everything you are, and I wish I could see everything you would be---
The fourth second passed, and Danny was wholly and irrevocably dead.
In the playpen, despair washed over Vana's face as the Guardian bond disappeared. The child did not cry, though- not even her little birdsong version of a baby wail. She rolled over, flat on her back, and started blinking back tears to the ceiling. There was no way to express mourning over the passing of her Guardian. Her baby mind could barely comprehend what she'd just felt pass. The little girl just... lay there....

Yashi grabbed at Kay, dragging her behind Malen with a growl. "And a stable target's easier to SHOOT. Didn't we just prove this?" Hs tail whipped in his anger that Kays tears did nothing to soothe. One long-nailed hand moved to clamp over her mouth, voice lower now, just for Kay.
"No crying, Kay. You're a big girl and you have all these people trying to help you. Tears aren't helping at -all-. You'll just get hysterical and then we're all ******** was sounding more and more like Patrick with each day - down to the rather snarky tone. Hell, he was mimicing his fathers voice at that moment, one hand moving to smooth over her hair as the hand on her mouth moved away.
Screaming from the babies - was Xerk there?! - and gunshots rang out, hurting his delicate ears. The blue fluffs pressed down against his skull and Yashi twitched, lips pressing together. That's when the energy hit; the fox went almost limp as he felt the tug, eyes widening and he grabbed at his chest. "What...Get out of me, you stupid DEAD thing!"
Iamel was feeling the brunt of the energy tearing as well; his gunshots were as rapid as ever but his aim was loosing. From the head to the torso...now to whatever he could, his eyes heavy. "What is he DOING?"

Art bit Xerks ungreatful hand. Her mommy wasn't in her sight, she was without her precious wand and this mind invader was covering her mouth trying to suffocate her. The lady gaurding the pin had pulled him off her though.
"baka!" she screamed at him. She thought and suddenly got an idea very two year old like. A room is dark then a night light is put on, and all the evil goes away. Art remembered the moon with her window open had the same effect, and when her mom came in with a candle, so did it.
"li ki da'nessss." She told xerk, not sure if she said the words right or not, but being the mind invader he was, she shot him images via her mind too, not aware that as a child she shouldn't have even considered that an option. But for her it was a completely normal idea.
" Bi fi yah..." She nodded.
[Edit: so we are all clear Ari's energy isn't fully drained. But she is fainted, and thus out of it. the big baddie shouldn't see much energy as I would assume fainted people to give off less energy than normal and with ari being as low as she is...]

Rouge saw and she was worried. Something had happened. She could tell. "Xerk you've gotta behave yourself okay." she told the boy moving him so that he was held in only one arm and pulling Vana to her. Something was wrong and she knew there was something she couldn't see that had happened. But what she had to do was hold the little girl.
She looked around for someone to tell her what happened. "Vana, its gonna be all right. Its gonna be all right." she told the little girl softly squeezing her.

Yashi's voice - or what she THOUGHT was Yashi's voice, was just what Kay needed. He was right. She needed to be strong and stop her blubbering. Someone had just given their life for her.
The guilt could wait. The crying could wait. Right now, she had to figure out something, and figure it out fast.
But, oh s**t, the energy being pulled from her was definitely NOT good. He was eating it! And it had to be going to heal him. Sniffling and taking a deep breath, Coailiann let out a panicked shout.
"STOP SHOOTING HIM! STOP ******** SHOOTING HIM!"
...Holy crap, Coailiann cursed.

Well.
Someone just died. This is officially serious.
As if it hadn't been before, now it was just worse. A black face in his mind was screaming for her, annoyed at her sacrifice and a sinking feeling dreading the same thing happening to himself or his child.
You stay put, he warned that side of him, stepping back toward the children and bringing Akori's sword before him to be ready for the defense.
Every last one of these people is probably going to die trying to fend him off... I would rather be the last in line to defend at this point in time.
He turned to glance at Rouge. "You and I have the kids. No matter what."

All the while the adults where fighting this troll-creature. Oak was trying to remain calm as much as he could. A sense of death flooding through his tiny tree form. The garden area was filled with death and he could sense it. Looking around the play pen. Oak's eyes feel upon a fern like baby. A small smile and grin grew on his face, even amongst the death. Oak crawled over and plopped himself back down next to Vana and stared into her eyes.
Kyo stopped his shooting. Giving the gun a once over. The elf then pocketed the gun and ran off towards the training room. This gun wasn't doing anything for him and he needed a weapon that he was well trained at using. Using his Elvin agility Kyocho moved amongst the hallway and around the variety of obstacles. When he finally reached the training room. Kyocho jumped through the doorway and fell onto the floor. Laboring breaths taking a toll on the man, but that didn't stop him to make quick work at his effort to locate a the weapon of his desire.

"No matter what." she agreed. But then she had to ask. "What happened? I can't see. There's something wrong with Vana. What happened to Danny?" she held tight onto Xerk and Vana, keeping her eyes on the other little ones. Oh please stay calm babies. Oh please stay calm.

A strange little blur was bobbing about the ceiling above where Danny had fallen; barely a glimmer of a star, the spirit must have snuck in past Talbar, its energy so weak as to be nigh-undetectable. It certainly was becoming easier to spot, now, as it seemed to be gaining some form of energy as it hung about....
Oh, for the love of....
A new figure appeared at the doorway to the garden; a slim, very human-like figure, that was in the process of pressing a hand to its head in sheer frustration. It had come too late, it seemed, to prevent the sheer disaster in progress. Blast it all, anyway- the least it could do was prevent the situation from worsening, at least.
Reaching out with overlong, clawlike fingers, the creature outstretched its two hands toward the troll and in a booming, enfuriated voice, commanded--
"TALBAR, YOU'VE HAD YOUR IDIOTIC LITTLE FUN. NOW BEGONE."
Stretching out from the shadows cast by the spirit's claws, darkness gathered under the troll's feet with subtle workings. With the new arrival's words, it yanked back its claws as though pulling a rope; and the shadows, seeming to grab at Talbar's own, yanked him backwards and towards the door. The spirit figure at the garden moved slowly forward to bend near the troll's ear; in a low, hissing voice, it told it- "Better go running back to your little friends, miscreant. And you can tell them that I will be waiting here, should they come. Now off with you, before I treat you unkindly."
