Tethys has been talking about "daily rituals" from various cultures with the students. What is one of your student's daily rituals? Do they recognize that it's a ritual? If they don't think they have any daily rituals, have them explain why.

Write a 100 word minimum response from the perspective of your student answering Tethys' question

Prompt Response: User Image Magi considered the question daily rituals, humm well she did a few things every day. "Well I sleep in my water bed every day, and my daddy reads a bedtime story to me and my sibling every night. I also read to myself every day because I enjoy reading a lot." She said and then sat down so the other freshlings could take their turn speaking. She wondered if there were other rituals she did that she hadn't thought of when she stood up in front of the class to speak most likely she sometimes forgot things oh well, that was ok.

Prompt Response: User Image Shock wasn't sure what he could count as a daily ritual, "I guess this is a daily ritual even though I don't really like going to class I do it every day. I also go to the wood every day and I do that because I want to, doing homework. Again something I don't want to do every day but I do because I have to. Eating snacks, cleaning my wings. I don't know what else." Shock said and flopped back down into his seat, he hated being stuck in a box and looked forward to when the class was over so he could go to the woods.

Gaius had to stop and thinking. Did he have daily routines? He was sure he did. Daily routines helped to structure his daily life, and aided him in being more "normal". If there was anything in particular that he did on a semi-frequent bases, it was spending time with his family. Cooking especially had become something the boy quite enjoyed.

"I ... like to help make dinner every night, and I try to do it every night ... almost like a ritual, yes?"Gaius piped up awkwardly, eyes scanning the room to see if his quiet, raspy voice had carried enough to be heard. Due to the lack of acknowledgement or eyes on him as he looked around the room, Gaius supposed not.

With new races appearing at what appears to be on a somewhat regular basis, the topic of cultural assimilation has been a popular one. Should new races assimilate to match the rest of the world if their beliefs are drastically different? Is it possible to have people exist in harmony even with clashing belief systems? Your student is encouraged to use examples in their response.

Write a 100 word minimum response from the perspective of your student answering Tethys' questions

Prompt Response:

There was literally no point in assimilating. Besides, assimilation took an extreme amount of time and had to be done over several generations. Without doing so, it was like leading a horse to water. You could strip it of its saddle and everything that it owned, but if it didn't want to drink in private it didn't have to.

Raa was against the idea, anyways. Culture was highly fascinating and he loved that Below had become such a cultural mosaic. As far as Raa was concerned, that was the way it should be. It kept things interesting and refreshing. For every new race that entered the picture, his world got far more interesting. There was new mythos to learn, new cuisine, new fashion. Why would anyone in their right mind want to strip that from the world?

The erasure of beauty was a sin, in Raa's mind.

Hanging out with Abigail was the closest thing Bonnie had to a daily ritual. The two were nigh inseparable, and even when they were grounded or forbidden to leave the house, the two always found a way to sneak out and be with one another. They two were crafty in that respect. They had some unspeakable bound that nobody could break. Being away from one another for even a day was almost painful ... did their hang outs count as a daily ritual? BonBon figured so. Maybe it was best to write that down and let the teacher decide if that was something their considered one or not.

Prompt Response: User Image Sweet Tart shook his head "Nope I don't think new races should have to fit in to make everyone else comfortable, they are new and that makes them guests, so their cultures should be respected. Since we ask them to respect our cultures right? It seems only fair to me that it should go both ways. No one should be forced to change who they are unless it's really hurting someone else that shouldn't be allowed. That would be more a legal thing than a social thing I guess." Sweet Tart thought right bad people were put in jails so that made sense sorta.

She blushed "If I want to dance to show I'm interested in courting someone and want to mate with them or want to pull pranks to show my affection for another everyone should have those rights, no one should have to give up their culture to live in a new place. Besides, that would be really boring if everyone followed the same beliefs and practiced the same courting rituals and stuff." Yin said softly.

Prompt Response: User Image Jonah considered the question "Well I wouldn't want a culture that believed eating others was ready to continue their practice, nor would I want a culture that believed killing others was proper or poisoning, or anything else truly harmful. Otherwise no I don't see a reason for others to fall in line everyone has their own culture, there are still many different courting rituals, different foods they like to eat, different views on what the nine look like and that is all fine by me." Jonah said simply and then sat back down to wait for the next student to speak.

Being with so many cultures, making friends learning new things has an effect on each being as time passes and things change at a natural pace. Being rebel if they are forced to go against what they believe in and that leads to blood and war. " She said with a frown.

Cultural assimilation was alive and well. His entire family was proof of that. There were several races inside his house alone, and his family was a real mixed bag of people. Castiel firmly believed that varying belief systems didn't have to impact people in a negative way. With such a vast and large family, each one of them had a personality and a series of opinions vastly different from the last. It made for interesting dinner conversations, and while the conversations did get a little heated from time to time, they largely lived harmoniously together.

People just had to want it enough. That was Castiel's belief.

Prompt Response: Liath had a lot to say about this topic, after all, it hadn't been that long ago the freshling Goblin himself left his home world of the above to come here. As a junior, he had not personally received any discrimination nor had he really seen any. He had however noticed the vast cultural differences from his goblin race to some of the other races he had encountered.
I think that is should be left to an individual basis, no one can tell any one culture what is the right belief and what is wrong. Just like no one can tell them what to believe in the first place. I feel that if someone comes into a new area and wants to embrace the customs and cultures of the races in that area they should be encouraged to do so. I, however, don't believe anyone should be forced to give up their beliefs to "better unite" cultures.

A daily ritual? Did they even have one? Well there was one. Keres nibbled on their bottom lip before deciding it wouldn't hurt to talk about their ritual. Standing up Keres turned towards the rest of the class.

" rituals are important, and I suppose I have a few. Like it's been mentioned family is really important and there is one ritual I try to incorporate every day. I like to take aside an hour in the evening after everyone's day is done and just play my violin for my dad or my aunt. My violin is what brought us together and so I like to honor that through the playing ritual" Keres stated. As they kept talking, their voice grew softer and softer. They hoped it was still loud enough to be heard but none the less that was keres's ritual. They quickly sat down.

Cider read the assignment and her mind immediately went to her friend, Caela. Caela was a Chomp and was struggling to fit in at the Academy…and it shouldn’t…

She drew in a breath and raised her hand before speaking, feeling the nervous jitters start up again at the prospect of speaking in front of the class. “I don’t think we should force any new races to assimilate. In fact…I think we should be the ones who should work on making our world, more friendly for them. It’s not up to them to change everything for us…society should be a shifting…changing entity…I have a friend who’s a Chomp, and I wouldn’t want her to change herself just to be my friend! That’s silly…we have to adapt to each other…not…force people to change…that’s the easiest way to make others upset, is to make them change who they are…and I don’t want anyone to be upset.”

By the end of her speech, Cider felt her cheeks blazing and quickly sat back down, burying her head in her arms.

She hadn’t meant to get so passionate…but…it was what she believed.

Prompt Response: Once Bryony understood what a ritual was he was able to explain how his days usually went. "I live with my dad and he goes to Leviathan," he started, drawing out the last word so he would pronounce it correctly. "So we get up pretty early and eat breakfast together. Then we bathe, brush our teeth, and get dressed. Dad always helps me make sure I have everything I need for school and then we talk about the plan for the day on the way here." It might not seem like much but the routine was important to Bryony and his dad.

Prompt Response: Gryffyn made a face at the assignment. Drayden, their father, was not big on ritual. Everything just happened as it happened Gryffyn on the other hand preferred things in order. However there was only one thing they did every day. "My dad's not big on daily anything except for the essentials, but every day after school I like to visit the gardens. It's... my favorite place on campus. They're really pretty and I like to water the plants and help them grow." The flower patches were their most favorite place in the gardens. They loved to watch the blooms speed up their growth when they touched them.
