Username: Nightmare/Daydream: Prompt:
With new races appearing at what appears to be on a somewhat regular basis, the topic of cultural assimilation has been a popular one. Should new races assimilate to match the rest of the world if their beliefs are drastically different? Is it possible to have people exist in harmony even with clashing belief systems? Your student is encouraged to use examples in their response.

Salacia put on a bright fake smiled and said. "I researched some historical figures and decided that Lady Fidellia is my favorite." Salacia wanted to gag she actually didn't like Lady Fidellia, but she couldn't find any noteworthy nagas since the academy didn't have many naga history books yet. "I like her because she did the treaty with the nightmares that reopened trade and stuff between the nightmares and daydreams which I think is neat." Salacia said pretending to be bright and shinny which she wasn't, but she did want to be an actress so this was good practice. Besides she didn't think the teacher would call her on her lies anyway.

Micari smiled brightly and said "I have chosen Kalad, he was the goblin who domesticated the chili pepper." She said warmly "She was amazing she did so much for my people." Micari said, she believed that Kalad was a real person. "Some worship her as a goddess of celebration and adventure, but I mainly like her because she cultivated food and without that I wouldn't have all the great ingredients I love to cook with." Micari wasn't really thinking about all the other people who cultivated fruits and vegetables in her hero worship for the goblin Kalad. Micari thought a moment, but couldn't think of anything else so she sat down.

Tabe thought for a moment and then decided who she wanted to talk about "Dose Miss Ava count?? Or is she not really historical since she's still running the school?? I really like her since her being in charge allowing the nightmares and daydreams to come to this great school is why my mommy and daddies were able to come together, without her I wouldn't be here. If Miss Ava doesn't count then I pick Princess Elena because she was smart and brave, and did a lot of great stuff for the bellow when she came home after being kidnapped."

Kaimana thought and thought, he wasn't sure what to say and then he remembered a book he found in the library it was small and it was a book on goblin history, it looked pretty new so Kai decided to take a look at it. "I chose Kalad too because they sound like a really fun person, the goblin was said to love celebrating and I do too, I like food and parties, where I can play my piano and make other people happy." Kai bit his lip and she shrugged "That's all I can think of." He said simply and then said down again.

Coco thought a moment and then said biting her lip nervously, she didn't want to sound foolish in front of the teacher and the whole class. She took a deep breath and then said "Umm well I guess I well.. I know about household magic.. cause it's used in the art room to clean up messes in the art classroom, which I like a lot because it means there is more time do art projects since I don't have to spend a lot of time cleaning.." Coco sighed and sat down in her chair at her desk, hiding her blushing red face. She still wasn't comfortable talking to a lot of people.

Caron looked at the rest of the class and smiled and said "My people are skilled in plant magic, I don't use it much, but the plants my mom sent me bloom really well. I naturally have a green thumb even when I forget to water my plants for a day or two the plants still do really well. I also like Illusion magic and think that it can be used to bring history to life in books, which is really cool and could make learning history for freshlings more fun." Caron said with a grin. Then took his seat again.

Jonah knew the type of magic he liked and wanted to learn when he was able to "I like healing magic and wish to learn it so I can help my future patients once I become a doctor. I also like household magic, because of it's cleaning uses. Which would be really useful in a hospital where it is extremely important to keep things clean. I would also love using household magic on my twins side of the room." Jonah said with a cheeky smile. Jonah sat back down with a sigh, though he had come a long way since when he was a freshling, dealing with other people who weren't Noah was still a trail for him.

Aiday frowned and she thought and said "Well I know about a bunch of types of magic, household, healing, plant, illusions, enchantments, but no I don't really have a favorite, I don't like using magic much." Aiday said shyly, she still wasn't comfortable talking in class or talking to a lot of people. Aiady like looking at the stars and planets learning new things about them. Standing up in front of the class talking about magic was not what she wanted to do with her day, but at least it wasn't talking about customs which Aiday really didn't want to do.

Mneme wasn't really sure which historical figure they liked best. Honestly, they weren't really all that into history... they understood it was important to learn about it, but it wasn't in their Top 5 Favorite Subjects. Still, they at least picked someone to talk about when it was their turn. "U-um... I thi--think my favorite person i-is Graven Frostfyre... um.. Because he gave p-people a place to live... even though the Litches didn't h-have a lot of livable places to be." They wrung their hands as they spoke, disliking speaking in front of so many people... but thankfully that was all Mr. Tethys needed, so they sat back down again and listened to the others.

Toru really was not into this assignment at all. They spent soooo much time talking about all the historical figures from outside of the Barrier, but no time at all talking about Bakeneko or Naga figures! Lame! He figured he probably couldn't choose one of them. Mr. Tethys wouldn't know who they were if he did. Once it was his turn, he pushed himself up to speak after picking a random person to talk about. "I guess I like Princess Elena, since even though she got kidnapped when she came back she tried to make everything better again instead of continuing the war effort." He shrugged, then sat back down again. That had better do it.

History... Sousuke didn't care much for history. Especially history about people that his own people hadn't known about until somewhat recently. They were fine by themselves before the barrier went down, weren't they? He listened with little interest as the others rattled off names and reasons for liking them, but found nothing to say himself.... He didn't even have a figure from back home to talk about. "I dunno. I guess Argus the Stoneskilled is kind of cool. Since he made your fancy soulstones that last forever." Alright, he had to admit that was actually useful. He yawned, then looked to the next person to hear what they had to say.

Magic. Now that was something that caught Prometheus' attention. Granted, he wasn't sure if he should mention what his favorite was, or why... but he figured he had a right. It was just theoretical anyway, wasn't it? He wasn't old enough to begin really practicing things anyway. There was beginning theory to learn first... "I would sey thet my "favorite" type of magic is the branch only my people cen use. Necromency is poorly understood down south and hes a bed nem, but it was a very useful end necessary tool for us in the past. It is a shame it is no longer legal to practice it." He spoke clearly, though with his ever-present Borean accent, not bothering to see if anyone thought poorly of his choice. Mr. Tethys didn't seem to mind, the geist simply nodded and thanked him for sharing, then looked to the next student.
