The rubble began to get larger as the fox got closer to the spire where it feel like a leaning tower. 'Maybe We can salvage some stuff from this broken up place." he asked aloud, fumbling with the half broken closet near the wall of the hallway.
it was in a sad state, almost pitiful. But that was war and a part of life. He didn't even know how it must have felt for the ones who escaped from here to their lands. "That must have sucked a big fat one, eh citizens of silver?" he drawled aloud and climbing up the flights of the tower.
It seemed as if most of the rooms were in here and by the amount of rubble, this place was tall. high up in the sky as he imagined, raising his arms into the air and imagining what it would have been like. "I bet it was a thrill, doing it so high up in the clouds." he figured.
But after climbing up a few flights, it just made him feel the pressure in his bladder to make water.

Well, at least one of them understood. He nodded getting back up. “Right… it looks rather dangerous.” he corked the wine and returned it to his bag. He needed to get to the top, perhaps something was there, or someone. He packed up and followed Silvia and Melvin, not too far behind them. He watched were they went and looked for the safest rout. He was sure there was never before so many stairs.
“Almost there.” He glanced up just in time to see them fall. He froze, shocked, but he was already so close. He had to… but, they fell. He shook himself, and avoided that spot very carefully. His choices were, finish, and find out the game or possibly wind up like them.
It was then that he made it to the top.

Twice more on her way up did Maple get struck by falling debris. The solid pieces of concrete and wood at least had the decency of missing her head but that didn't mean her right arm and her back appreciated. Especially not when she was reaching down to pick up an interesting object.
The rusted key was nearly hidden by a few fallen tapestries, but it still had enough of a gleam to catch her attention. The Shade had seen a few similar items in the pools back home, so the temptation to keep it was too much to pass up. Then she regretted it a little when some molding fell on her back, probably punishing her for taking such an object from a ruined castle.
But she continued to trek upwards, finding similar words to the ones a few flights down on another set of stair cases. She didn't pause as long this time around but continued onwards.
Getting to floor ten, seemed to be without incident, filling the small Shadow with much relief. A few more steps cleared and she was at the top, along with a few others as well. Interesting, she looked around at the variety of people resting on this particular floor.
But her gaze narrowed in on two, two that were familiar. "Aa," she smiled. Justice and Judgement, if she remembered correctly. Good, Shadows from her own Kingdom had made it up and were still around. She wasn't too late.
Maple made a point to move, clinging to the side of wall; only to jar a painting loose and have it fall on her head. "Ow..."

Picking up a bottle, he noted that it was a popular brand of alcohol that was served at a bar that he once frequented. He recalled it, the music was soft and soothing, the patrons were often kind and the requests were simple. He closed his eyes imagining it again. His fingers tapping away at the black and white keys of the rustic instrument. The bar had a very light smokey air from those who smoke, though the aroma was hardly harsh. The patrons laughed and joke, the clank of cups and the whistles of the men.
It was then that reality crept from the shadows and into his mind. The once joyous patrons slowly faded away and the music remained as the only evidence that someone was once there.
The Kingdom was gone. And he wanted to know why. Looking at the tower, he knew the answer was there. The King never left it, he must still be there. Dead or alive, there were answers.
Deja vu! The Sun grinned at the thought as she once again climbed through the early floors. She decided not to look at it as a set back, falling back to the entrance, but as an opportunity to make an extra scan for miasma.
And there was something new! Or at least something she hadn't seen the first time up. Another clue! She paused beside it, and went over the riddle as she had it so far. It still made little sense to her, and it seemed that she'd need to venture farther to find any answers.
This time, she managed to find a little miasma, and only collected a few more scrapes for her trouble.

The etching on the staircase was noticed immediately. She memories it the same way she did the warning on the Ground Floor; repeating it out loud a few times and then in her mind a few more. Then she made her way up the stairs. The weight of the potions surrounding her body made her steps heavy and she got hit by falling debris three times; each to various parts of her body.
But inside a small hole in the wall, she found Miasma and collected it before continuing on.

The next few floors were very much the same though there was a lot more debris. She could see where it had been falling and tried to stay clear of those areas. It only helped so much though when a piece of the ceiling fell and conked her on the head. The effect left her disoriented for a while lingering on the seventh floor for a bit before she continued on. When her head stopped throbbing she made her way up to the next floor and the next, trying to keep an eye out for anything to take back.
Mitsu was almost certain she was going to find nothing more of use until she finally stumbled upon another miasma as well as another riddle by the staircase. "Five is less than infinity?" Yes, silver king was captain obvious.

The tower looked decrepit, really, and it was hard to believe that perhaps even just a few hours ago, it was teeming with life. An entire kingdom was just ... gone. Could this happen to her? She looked down at her hands, eyes flickering to the glowing tattoo that signified her as a member of The Boss' circle, and shook her head. It wouldn't happen to her. She just needed to get herself through this tower. That was the challenge, right? Get through the tower and get herself some miasma. That was what the boss wanted, and more importantly...
That was what The Voice wanted.
Serafina ignored the part of her that actually did want to help people, wincing as she entered the destroyed building. That wince was quickly squashed with the feeling that she would get herself through this, and that she was the one who mattered, here. If she got herself the miasma she needed, she would survive. And if she survived, she would thrive. The more people that fell, the less competition that there was, and the less competition there was, the easier Serafina's job became. She was a masterful speaker, able to woo crowds, but perhaps she worked best on the grassroots level, with the lobbyists that begged for laws to be passed with bribes, with those who marched demanding more action against the crime that was sweeping their streets--
Okay, now she was acting like a Senator.
To herself.
There was a snort from her lips, before she ventured on inside the tower. It was time to climb upon other people.

Smiling knowingly she slowly made it past the entrance without much trouble. Perhaps the next rooms wouldn't be nearly as hard now would they? Pulling her robes closer to herself she felt the box with the key in it and nodded, this was for her kingdom and her king. They needed these things that the Silver Kingdom so carelessly left behind.
Yes she would still continue forward only finding passage safer along the wall. After the first few rooms seemed to rain debris, the last few were a cake walk. She even managed to snag a few points as the debris fell around her.

There was a crack. A spiderwebbing along the boards beneath their feet. Instinctively, the shapeshifter froze, not wanting to cause the entire structure to collapse. The other pawn's voice behind him, however, was compelling enough for him to forget about it, his eyes flicking over his shoulder just as the rubble began to come down.
"Sammy?"
There was nothing he could have done, but it would likely haunt him for the rest of his drastically-shortened life. All he could do was watch as the bolder took out the floorboards by his friend, sending her down into the abyss. By the time he'd lunged, grabbing the edge of the splintering wood and reaching down to try to grab her before she fell, she was too far gone, the black swallowing her up.
"SAMMY?!"
Shouting down into the darkness gave him nothing. Panic had begun to set in, the longer the darkness remained silent the more anxious he became. He'd just started trying to find a way down when his cellphone rang in his pocket, making it vibrate with an angry buzzing sound. His heartbeat racing, he clicked it open, exhaling with a 'wuff' as Sammy's voice, tinny from the electronics, responded.
"I'll text you if there's any change," he replied, considerably calmer.
Clicking the phone shut, he exhaled heavily before sliding it in his pocket. It was as he was beginning to stand up that he noticed the key hidden in the dirt, a flicker of sunlight from a window catching it. Scooping it up quizzically, the shape-shifter took a moment to brush it off before turning around, heading towards the stairs again.
He found two more treasures this way, nestled together in a crack in the wall. Vials. Of miasma, it seemed.
