This is a question about cats! Specifically, their breeds. Can we only have one of a given breed, or multiples provided the markings are different, or something else entirely?

There is no limit to cat breeds that players can choose for their Guardian and there can be as many of a breed as there are cats! We do have a requirement that the cats cannot look exactly alike in appearance even if they share the same breed (unless the players are all right with this!). With nearly a hundred different types of cat breed we hope there is a varied amount for players to choose from, but if someone is questing for a cat breed that is already in play, then that is perfectly fine!

Asking this for clarification, and because it's come up in convo recently: the started RP for Crown Tokens; does it need started by the person claiming, or is it just an RP that they've posted in that was started that month? It isn't clarified in the rules, and people seem to have varying answers.

To claim a crown token for this, you just have to be involved in a new roleplay and have posted in it within that month of the RP starting. You do not need to actually make the first post to claim for this crown token, but you do need to have at least one post in a new roleplay started that month to claim for this crown token.

What do crystal communicators look like?

Unrelated, but where can we access the original Mod Q&A thread? I cannot seem to find it!

Crystal communicators look like this, although they might show alterations in appearance between one another. Some may be upgraded to include certain features or buttons.

The previous Management QnA is located on the first page of the Archives!

Heya, I'd reposted this back Mar 06, 2015, so it's been another 5 months, 26 days (or roughly half a year). Can we get an update on the status of this information, or other information that was to be rolled out prior that it was backburnered for?

Quote:
Back on May 25, 2013, I asked about whether there would ever be an info thread answering the inquiries from the older 25 page Q&A archive that would detail and answer the ins-and-outs of magic effects/advantages for team members and their mauvians (such as sensing the team members whereabouts) and captaincy items, let alone if there's any effects for Chaos teams (DMC or Negas). The answer then was that it was being worked on. Since its been well over a year, is this information backburnered? Still in progress? There are still fledging team plots in the plot forum that could benefit from having this information.

Quote:
Looking through the old archive Q&A, will there ever be an info write up on the ins-and-outs of teams/courts in the [Information] subforum?

Stuff like LizzyMoo's questions about Captain's Items, which I didn't realize there even were captains items ( and the last update about uniform standards specifically stated no items on senshi art unless GM approved...which I guess would be the caveat that refers to captain's items?)

And the information Nessy and Mouse clarified for AstaraeI about Teams and Courts.

For active players who may be interested in forming new teams, which there seems to be a resurgence of in the Plot forum, the clarifications would be really helpful to have available ( and not everyone has been around since 2011 to know the information even exists or how accurate it is now)

Teams and captaincy items are two thing that staff has been working on revamping. Basically there are big changes coming to both, so while I cannot answer this question right now without causing a heck of a lot more confusion, you can expect an update/announcement within the next couple of months regarding teams.

Awesome, thanks~ Don't mind the wait, just wondering and glad to hear.

We are still planning on releasing these things! They got put on the backburner so we could roll out some immediate changes and we are hoping to have updates released both to clear up the information available for those things as well as expand the RP environment and open new doors!

These updates and releases are in progress and will be released to the shop as soon as possible. We apologize if you were wanting to base plots on these, but until we have completed the updates and plots needed to release these, we are unable to present a timeline. It is something the shop is still actively pursuing and will be releasing in the fairly near future, but it is not something there is a specific date set for.

So my understanding is that youma, in general, are created by a Negaverse agent either directly corrupting a person's starseed or a character eating too many starseeds. In the case of direct corruptions, is that youma automatically bound to the agent that created it or is the youma a free agent, per se? How often can a Negaverse Agent create a youma? Would we be permitted to create youma from any poor sap who was nearby whenever a mission started going downhill, for example?

A Negaverse Agent does not have to bond with a youma they have created. In essence, this means that unless the youma is the agent's single specified bonded youma, any other youma they create is a "free agent" and has no allegiance to that particular agent or any other (although they would still take orders from higher ranking officers). An Agent can youmify as many people as they wish as long as they have the energy to do so. Depending on rank, creating a youma can take a large amount of energy to complete and to do so during a failing mission could zap you off that essential energy you need to get away! Make you choice wisely when deciding to youmify!

Two questions:
A) Can Ascendant corrupt senshi age? For example, is Ascendant General Alkaid's body eternally stuck at the age she was when she ascended?
B) Can Corrupt Senshi take a mineral name after joining the Negaverse if they did not take one initially? If I wanted to rename Corrupt Super Sailor Warhol to Chrysocolla or Amazonite, would I be permitted to do this; and, even if I was, would I need to wait for her to rank up to Eternal before this?

Senshi that choose the path of Ascendent loose the basic functionality of organs. As organs are what causes the body to 'age' due to usage, Ascendents who no longer rely on them, no longer face Aging process. In short, Ascendents remain the age they ascend and remain as immortal as their space object does.

Corrupt senshi may take a mineral name, If you want to change/add the mineral name, please send a PM to The Space Cauldron. You may do this at any time, not just when she is ranking up!

I have a question that pertains to a pair of twin characters I want to quest in the future, but I want to talk to a staff member about them first because they're complicated! (and I want to make sure the idea is square in general) Can someone message me, please? o uo

If you have a plot that you wish to check over with the mods, please send it in a PM to The Space Cauldron! We do not typically message players about plots first, and sending in your PM ensures that your plots and questions will be seen! While individual mods can give general advice on plots, it is unofficial and no guarantee of actual acceptability - the best way to ensure that you are getting a completely official and correct answer is to contact the mule so all of us can discuss it!

Do starseeds reside in the chest physically, or on a sort of second plane of existence? Like, when a chaos character reaches for a starseed, are they reaching into a person's actual chest, or a sort of pocket dimension where that person's starseed is housed?

The officer is indeed reaching into a sort of pocket dimension! Starseeds are not physically in a person's chest, but the pocket dimension is accessed by reaching into the center of the chest (or, sometimes, through their back.)

Ferrying this question worded by Strick and expressed by a bunch of others:

"is there a point where one loses glamour? if so, can you please clearly delineate the point at which one drops glamour with clothing loss? please elaborate with restrictions set for each class (nega senshi, dms, knight, transcended, etc)"

Not only is glamour lost, but a powered character can become unpowered after losing a majority of their clothing. There are no specific faction restrictions as to when this might occur, but it should be assumed that at about the 80% loss of clothing mark that glamours may become compromised and that a character would be forcefully powered down. If this occurs, a civilian could immediately power up again and be fully clothed; while there is a huge possibility of their identity being compromised at the time, it is also possible that this would save them (as, powering back up would renew their glamour). If you have a plot or such or need to work out specifics, please PM the mule!

Would staff ever consider revisiting the color swatches for the knight factions to expand them a little to be more user-friendly? While there are a few swatches (Venus, for example), where there's a broad color offering, some swatches, like Saturn for example, really only offer two colors (shades of purple/indigo and black) even though the swatch template has room for six. At minimum I've always felt it would be good to have the prince/princess senshi of that homeworld's colors represented -- for example, giving Venus knights the option of wearing royal blue, or Saturn knights having red available to them, and Mars knights being able to work with purple. In some cases, faction uniforms can be very challenging given the swatch available -- Saturn knights are given a swatch dominated by very dark colors, but faction rules prohibit knights from wearing primarily dark colors lest they look too much like Negaverse agents.

If nothing else, it would be great to have white added to all the swatches as a seventh color so it's clear that it's always an option.

Would staff ever consider revisiting/expanding the swatches? Would you consider letting a user submit updated/alternate swatches that maybe staff or players could vote on? If so, I mocked up some swatches that incorporate the ideas I was requesting above:

Mercury
Venus
Earth
Mars
Jupiter
Saturn
Uranus
Neptune
Pluto *
Cosmos

In all cases, I've included white as a swatch color, as well as a shade of gold so players have this as an accent option.

* Black is Sailor Pluto's primary fuku color, so it's included here out of fairness to that, much like it's included on Ganymede's swatch -- presumably the usual "dark colors cannot dominate" rule would apply here, and players would have to incorporate white as a major uniform component if they wanted to use black.

Note, I only did swatches for the homeworlds which have NPCed royals, since the swatches for the other royals' knights are of course up to their players!

We will review this and edit a response in when we have reached a consensus between moderator and artist staff!

(LAME BUT PLEASE HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF GOD ADOPT THOSE SWATCHES LIKE GOD PLEASE THIS IS WHAT KNIGHTS NEED PLSPLSPLS)

Also real question: Are semi-precious stones and gemstones now considered questable for negaverse names? I've seen a few floating, but as far as I can find in rules, it's still mineral only and gemstones/semi-precious stones, etc are very much not minerals but mineral compounds. If there has been a rule change it would REALLY help to have this info updated, b/c I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO QUEST A FEW THINGS BUT UNLESS ITS ALLOWED I KINDA CANT.

To a degree, yes; this has been in effect for several years now. We have a number of officers who are named after gemstones, some already in play for more than four years. There are a few gemstone names we would ask players not to use due to their canon ties (such as the Black Moon Clan: Demande/Diamond, Esmeraude/Emerald, Rubeus/Ruby, and Saphir/Sapphire). If you feel like a name might be too close to a canon character, please shoot the mule a PM. There are some minerals/gemstones/semi-precious stones which may not be questable (for example, if it can be found on the periodic table of elements, it is not questable), but we will work to answer any questions regarding possible or available names!

Question regarding the new word count + solo rule

This is purely theoretical atm but I'm p. sure someone could actually acomplish this with all of the amazing writers we have.

Out of curiosity can one solo cover all your solo requirements if such a solo was written? Or would it be preferred a minimum amount of solos be done? IE - at least two different solos? - For example Eternal senshi have a requirement of twelve solos so that'd be about 12k words to cover all twelve solos.

Theoretically you could hit your word count for all solo requirements in one giant solo; for an eternal it would only need to be 6k words long (since every 500 words counts for a new solo).

Because I always verify to clarify:
The new minimum word count for solos only applies to any characters gotten after this rule change. Any characters obtained prior would still have a minimum word count of 450, yet now would have the option for longer solos to count as one per every 500 words.

In theory, yes, but we do not feel that asking for an extra fifty words per roleplay/solo puts an undue burden on players who already generally exceed the minimum wordcount, and we hope people adhere to the spirit of the new requirements rather than trying to avoid them.

Not only is glamour lost, but a powered character can become unpowered after losing a majority of their clothing. There are no specific faction restrictions as to when this might occur, but it should be assumed that at about the 80% loss of clothing mark that glamours may become compromised and that a character would be forcefully powered down. Would it be possible to as for staff to give this ruling a second look? There was a previous ruling in place (buried in the old MQ&A thread) under two of the previous staff regimes which provided for the idea that other characters could not go around forcing the glamour from characters without their consent, which helped to ensure that stripping people's clothes off to endanger their identity wasn't a viable strategy -- it provided a safeguard that if someone else tried to remove the "base" part of your costume without your consent, your glamour would automatically generate a new base underneath.

My concerns with the idea of other characters being able to forcibly drop someone's glamour (other than by killing them) is that this makes stripping characters' clothes off to learn their identities against their will a logical wartime strategy that characters might try to use, but it is a very uncomfortable thing to see as a world element in a PG-13 game with lots of powered characters in their young teens or younger. Obviously mature and unpleasant things do happen in wartime, but as a player, the notion of a magical plot point which would encourage that in any way is something I would prefer to see avoided, if staff would consider it.

Would it be possible for staff to consider reinstating/upholding the old ruling on clothing removal/glamour instead? (Or some other ruling which would accomplish the same result?) I'm not aware of any instances of the current ruling (forcible glamour drop via undressing) having been played, so I don't think it would disrupt any established in-game canon.

Absolutely! The question Sami originally posted here was in relation to how much of a uniform could be removed/lost before glamour would be affected. The ruling you cited spoke only of senshi, where as Sami's question was more directed towards how this applied to all factions. We made a broad ruling that as a general rule for all factions, 80% of clothing would have to be retained before there was risk of losing a glamour.

The ruling you mentioned is still in place, but we failed to give any reference to it while answering this question and apologize for any misunderstandings! Other characters cannot remove someone's core uniform pieces, and you cannot ICly force a character to power down by removing their clothes. Clothing can still be lost and damaged in battle, but certain articles will always replenish in order to preserve the glamour unless it is the character themselves removing it. For example, a Negaverse might tear off a senshi's glove in battle and it would remain discarded, but if A negaverse attempted to tear off the bodice, it would instantly repair.

While core uniform elements cannot be removed by another, a character can remove them by themselves. If they do so, they risk compromising their identity to anyone who might see them.

Core uniform elements generally consist of bodice/bottoms for senshi, and shirt/pants for Negaverse officers and Knights, however some characters do not fit within these guidelines (as some characters do not have shirts or significant bottoms). It should be assumed in these situations that there is roughly 20% of a uniform that will always replenish if someone else attempts to remove them, and any area that would not be considered PG-13 would always be covered.

Sometimes there are instances when a character may need to remove their own clothes—such as if to shed weight while in water, lose flammable objects, lose loud or oversized items for stealth, to hide in a disguise; etc—we interpreted this question as asking what could safely be removed before the glamour was compromised (and were considering applications of this questions that may not be immediately related to battle situations).

To generalize and touch on both questions posted here, a character may safely remove up to 80% of their uniform without affecting their glamour, and there are certain parts of each uniform that cannot be removed by anyone other than the character wearing them to ensure that they are not being forcibly powered down.
