And story

Kione's pelt moved silently through the forests, not far behind her Lakota. Ahead of them lay a family of wild boar foraging for food. Since her stay with Lakota, Kione had been less inclined to leave to go back to her original pride. She loved the wolf made, and began to wonder would it be at all bad if she just up and disappeared? But her faith and loyalty for Rellick's family would not allow it. As of right now, she was still their Shaman. A sigh escaped her lips, but the thought was quickly pushed aside. The need to hunt became greater than her thoughts. With a growl, she rounded the family looking for the fattest beast. She laid eyes on it the same time it laid eyes on her. With a squeal it charged for her, and she ran, jumping to the side for a moment before pinning the beast down. She wondered if Lakota would go after another of the screaming animals or would he assist her? The male had insisted on joining her on the hunt since she was not completely 100% better. She didn't know why Lord Lakota would not leave her to her duty as provider. Her thoughts battled with her concentration on pinning down the large pig beneath her. Lakota watched for a moment. Waiting for his moment to join in, the boar that she had seemed to pick seemed the right size for both of them. He waited for his right moment before jumping forward after her digging his claws and jaws into the meal waiting for it to stop moving before he looked up at her with a grin. As the pig was brought down, Kione began to catch her breath, her full weight still on the animal. Looking over at her savior, she grinned. "I am quite glad that m'Lord has come to my aid." A small purr escaped her maw before she slipped off the kill. "Now, my Lord, shall we take this back to the den, or shall we feast here?" Her head tilted a moment before something caught her attention. Three eyes stared at her from the brush. Then, three more. Then more. Soon, everywhere she looked, there were eyes staring at them. Kione began to feel the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end from slight fear. The scent that wafted amongst the scent of the pig, hers, Lakota's, and blood was beginning to mingle with canine scent...Hyena.
“No problem and we can feast here.” He nodded to her with a smile growing on his maw, leaning down to sniff the pray in front of him. He was completely distracted from what was going on around him before something caught his attention. The smell. It came fast into his nose, his attention snapping up to those around him. Soon also noticing the eyes.
With a gasp, she immediately stood in front of her lover, a protective stance. "Lord, they are here for our kill!" She called out, her fangs bared, claws once against extended.
"Be careful Kione." He warned sternly as he looked around once more he noticed the hyena's slowly close in on them
"I am sorry! I could not seem to see this vision." Lately, her skills as a shaman were becoming less and less frequent. The future could not be told to her for some reason. Every time she tried to see into events, it was clouded and full of distortion. Sometimes she would be lead to the wrong thing. But why? What was clouding her visions? What was making her this way? Was she not a Shaman anymore? Did the Fates see fit to punish her for leaving her pride? Or was it something else? Was there something going on within her that she didn't even know? What was wrong?!
"Don't worry about it Kione!" he called out to her comment about her visions. He was worried he hadn't seen that many hyena's in one place in a long time, this couldn't be good. A growl escaped his throat as they moved closer, in warning to the others that he would fight. He shifted away from his mate some snarling and swiping his paws at the other animals. "Be careful." He warned again to Kione, he didn't want her hurt, to a point he was just hoping they would leave, or at least let Kione and himself wander away without trouble. Then again he had a feeling he wasn't going to be that lucky. Growling, snapping, and hissing
Kione's eyes looked over as much as she could of the area. "Lord Lakota, I think we should try to get away." She turned just in time to see one jump toward him on a blind side. Jumping over Lakota's back, she collided with the beast taking his blow. Soon, more Hyenas’ joined the fray wrestling with the lioness, clawing and biting. She roared and yowled as they attacked both lovers. Her pelt became stained with lion and hyena blood as the attack continued. Kione got back up on her feet slapping and biting at the canine like animals. Most seemed to have gone after Lakota which made her worry turn into fear. "Lakota!" She screamed for him trying to rush to his aid, but was blocked by a wall of hyena. Why couldn't they just leave?!
“Kione!” Ignoring his own blood, he was more worried about his mate’s spilt blood. He moved as quickly as he could to her, ripping some hyenas off of her. Moving as close as he could. "Take the meal!" He shouted, it was aimed at the hyena's hoping they would get distracted and go for that instead of attacking.
The rabid pack of hyena's not only wanted their meal, but the lions' blood as well. They cackled as they attacked both lions head on before the leader grew weary of the game. It snapped it's jaws on Lakota's forepaw, digging teeth into flesh. The majority also went after the large male which angered the shaman. With power she did not know she possessed, she went rabid attacking and killing nonstop Her rage built and grew as the hyena's now sought to attack her. It took Lakota a while, fighting off the ones that were attacking him before he saw Kione. Surprised with how she was attacking. He had never seen her like that before. Not at all.
She did not let them for each time they came, she took them down. Her pelt was growing bloodier by the minute, and though things seemed bleak, the leader of her troop barked. Enough of her pack had been killed; the boar meat was not worth all this trouble. As they hyena's escaped into the forest, Kione limped over to her beloved. Nosing into his mane. "Lord Lakota? Oh my Lord, are you all right?" She panted with slight exhaustion nosing him over for wounds and other such things. The shaman was completely oblivious to her own needs wanting to tend to him. Both had lost so much blood, and yet she felt as if he was more wounded. "Lakota answer me!" She called out in a frantic manner, her eyes filled with tears.
"Kione..." He grumbled trying his hardest to stand on shaky feet. "You okay love?" He asked trying to ignore his own pain. Tears welled falling from her eyes down her cheeks onto his pelt. "No, beloved I am not..." She collapsed beside him tired and weak. She tried to lap up his wounds to stop the bleeding, but the blood just kept coming and coming. She seemed to sob a little, keeping close. "I could not protect you. Please forgive me, Lord Lakota!" Lakota felt some pain when he heard her voice and when he saw her collapse. He was about to say something but he couldn't bring himself to do it. At her tears and sobs he felt even worse. "No Kion-e... I couldn't pro-protect you." She sobbed into his main before trying yet again to clot his wounds. She looked around for at least something to feed him. Most of the boar meat had been left, thankfully, and she stood up limping to get some.
Dragging the carcass over, she pushed the nourishing feast over to him. Settling close, she tore off chunks of the food chewing it in her mouth before giving it to Lakota to eat. She didn't care if he grew angry with her that she wasn't eating or that she was forcing him to eat. The fact was, he needed nourishment to grow stronger and that was what she was doing. Once back at the den, she would gather her herb supplies and help heal him. But they had to be back at the den for that. "Lakota..." she murmured. "Lakota, my beloved, can you move? Or do you need more food? Please, eat and grow stronger so that we may go home together
He winced as she started to clean his wounds then he looked at the food in front of him, about to deny it but he gave in. He started to eat some. "Can move." He grunted as he looked at her. "Do you need help?" He asked trying to be as strong as he could "I-If we us-use eachother for su-suport we can there." He grunted again looking at her. "I love you Kione... I don't want to lose you." He couldn't help to say. He couldn't hold it in. After watching that he felt like he needed to say it.
She sobbed a little harder, his strength never ceasing to amaze her. He was the life in her lungs that kept her tired heart going. Without him, she felt as if she could do anything. Nuzzling into the male, she shifted so that most of his weight was against her. "I love you, Lakota. I've always loved you for so long. I won't leave you as long as my heart keeps beating." She promised to him. The two slowly made their way back to his cave, stumbling along the way. As they came closer, she saw the night sky flood over, the rain slowly pouring down against both of their bodies as if to cleanse the blood from their pelts. Slipping into the cave, she managed to get him inside.
Kione then set him down gently, looking over his wounds as the rains kept falling. The shaman went to the corner where she kept her herbs for healing. She feared that this would not be enough to save her beloved, but she had to try. With a sense of being, she immediately started on stopping the bleeding working all night as the male rested. As the rain pelted down upon their cave, a tired Kione made sure that he was all right, going back out to search for the boar carcass. She managed to drag it back to the cave feeding him more nourishment and refreshing his wounds as the night went on. "I will not lose you, my beloved Lord Lakota.."
Once they were there and he was starting to rest he could feel himself drift in and out of sleep. He stared at her before one of the time he was about to go to sleep. "I don't want to lose you either Kione..." He murmured softly before resting his head on his paws and drifting off. He was glad to have her, glad to survive this day, even happier that she did too.

Story for Aleiku and Maleah (Ariya had me post it because she went to bed)-

Maleah didn't know what to do. She had lived around these parts, coming and going and being happy to lounge about and live off the land as a loner with a few acquaintances for ages. Well, at least long enough to watch one similar-minded cub grow from baby to adult.

Frankly, her youthful wanderings were becoming tiresome. Worse, the peace she'd felt with the jungle areas had been shattered to turn into an anxiety months ago. As a result, she had instinctively sidled closer to Aleiku. He was just... at so much peace with everything, and as a result, the world seemed to respect him in return. It was something she'd been amazed to watch.

She had grown fond of and even sought after him for it while he was still a teen. She'd been surprised when he'd been the only one she could think of to run to for help--he'd never shown an ounce of ability to help in his life. Now she was even more surprised in her inner reflection, something he'd taught her by example, to discover more to that.

It scared her more than seeing the insanity of a few short months ago, because now that she knew it, she had to admit it, and...well...What if Aleiku was too in tune to mother nature to throw a glance her way?

It had been this that had caused her to blush and shuffle away from him a bit. Outgoing, positive Maleah didn't know where to begin to think with the realization that, frankly, their long term friendship meant more to her than just that. And really had for some time.

Aleiku let out a frustrated growl. Why was this so difficult??? In his whole life he had never met anything so irritating, causing him to actually feel something other than his normal peace. He hated this day. Almost more than anything else. So why was it that girls squealed whenever this day was to come? He would never understand it.

Shaking his head back and forth, he huffed and let out a sigh as he scratched his temple. He was sure that none of this would make any difference. There was no telling that she’d actually like it anyhow. Wait. Now that he thought about it, where was Maleah anyhow?

Where? In the process of trying to get enough courage up to tell Aleiku. . .And it would have to be words, because the usual gifts just didn't suffice. She knew what Aleiku liked, knew that it was already wrapped in the perfect gift that nature had already created.

It was so frustrating, actually, that she had climbed straight up to one of his favorite spots to mope. It wasn't fair! She had to compete with a woman unbeatable. She couldn't improve on that, and really she wasn't sure what hope she had against nature herself.

Weren't these special days supposed to be picture perfect? Mocking mother nature, with nothing special for this day. She already knew how perfect she was. Maleah let out a great sigh. Maybe she could just try to be content in Aleiku's contentment?

For all the work he had put into everything, he wasn’t sure she would like any of it… Putting his ears down against his skull, he was about ready to give up on it. To give up on doing anything right. It seemed lately all he could do was make things worse for her and even his attempts to make today special were turning to naught.

Musing, Aleiku gathered up the things he had made and stuffed them into his secret hole. For now he wasn’t even sure where she had went. So he knew he had to find her, to at least make sure she was alright if anything else. Nudging a pile of leaves over the presents, his eyes lifted to the sky, watching the sun shine between the tree branches. Wincing, he set off, she couldn’t have gone too far?

With paws stepping across the terrain, his eyes scanned every direction he thought she could be. His tail wrapped around himself as he was ready to call everything quits. Sighing in frustration yet again, Aleiku climbed up his favorite tree so that he could rest. As he finally reached the top he was a bit surprised to see Maleah was already there. “I… hi..” His voice was a little unsure as he came closer to her.

"Hi." She had heard Aleiku coming and had already composed her pensive look into a welcoming one, "You know, you're right about everything. About how wonderful nature makes it all. You have it all, being able to see that all the time." She sighed, looking away. "I wish you weren't so lucky sometimes." It was a different twist on her usual teasings to try to get a reaction out of him, said lightly enough, though she knew she had to look away to hide the truth about it. How awful was that, to wish less happiness on him?

"Of course it's wonderful, she's the one who has protected me and made me into what I am... She's the one that.." His lips twitched into a smile while reciting his feelings up until he noticed she wasn't returning the expression. What was wrong? Did he do something terrible? Stepping closer, he eyed her carefully as a sigh escaped his lips. "I'm not... what did I do Maleah? What's wrong..?"

Maleah nudged him when he came close, able to give him a sad smile, "I'm glad you're happy. I want that for you. You're very special, you know."

She didn't think she'd be able to get closer to admitting how she felt than that. Why compete with that which was impossible to compete with?

Aleiku had to admit, even if it was to himself, that he was really starting to hate this day. He didn't understand what all the stressing was about. Furthermore, he didn't want to have to go through this anymore. Wouldn't it be easier to back out and just let it be? But of course... he knew that wasn't want Maleah wanted, she had been telling him he had to stand up for himself since he was a cub. "Maleah..." He began gently, trying to muster the words that were forming difficultly for him. "You know... I wasn't always lucky... My family abandoned me... they just didn't want me. I couldn't hate them... so I started to hate myself until I realized that it was all meaningless.. all this hate... frustration.. is meaningless.." Turning his eyes away, "The Earth.. became my mother, she has protected me. But it wasn't until I met you... that... that I.. considered myself truly lucky..."

Maleah's ears and eyes both perked up, both interest in what Aleiku was saying and hope replacing the sadness, "I'm sorry about that, and am glad you were strong." She nodded. "And...really? Like, how so?" She bit her bottom lip, "Not just like...I mean, I don't think of you as that cub at all. You've really become," she looked away again, "I don't know, more than nature even."

Her ears laid back the moment she said that, not at all expecting hope to be fulfilled.

“Maleah..” Letting out a breath, “Do you know how much you mean to me..? No..” He frowned a bit, “I don’t suppose you do… I’ve never… showed you… have I?” Watching the expression drift over her eyes, he decided to continue. “Follow me.. I’ve made you something.” He helped her down the tree. When his paws reached the ground he motioned for her to follow him until he came to a bush, where he moved it back. Using his maw, he reached in and grabbed a necklace with carved wooden beads. Turning, he offered it to her. “I’m sorry its not more beautiful.. But I wanted you to have a something beautiful… like you.. So that you know how much.. You mean.”

After showing her the necklace, he bent down and nuzzled her against her cheek, “I want nothing more than the best for you. I want to show you the beauty of this world around us. I love you Maleah… and I’ll always be yours.. Always. Happy Valentine’s Day my love..” He whispered quietly in her ear.

What the poem says if you cannot read it.

My dearest love,

I cannot count the ways I love you, the reasons you make me smile with a simple look.

My one and only

You make my heart beat in my chest faster, and harder than a millions of prey beasts charging over the land.

My heart

I miss you when we are apart for only a second, my soul pinning away to be with you once again.

My Beloved

You had my heart the first time we met, though the fates played us a cruel hand to start, the reward for such cruelity was greater than any treasure in the world.

The father of my children

I will love you in this life, and any that will follow after..My tomorrows will always be shared with you.

I love you my sunset knight...
