This is exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for.

All right. For the past few days, I've been considering a novel premise, in addition to the book-story-thing I'm already working on, though they are unrelated.

In a nutshell: The Antichrist's life story.

It is not a joke, comedy, or Satanic book in any way. (Well, it depends on how you interpret 'Satanic', but I'm not promoting devil worship or Satanism. Which, for that matter, has nothing to do with Satan.)

I'm working on the premise that, like Jesus (supposedly), the Antichrist will not know he is the Antichrist until at least his late adolescence. I hope to do it like a Tarantino movie; begin at the end (Apocalypse), and then cut back to his childhood for little bits and pieces that shaped him into the boy who would become the teen who would become the Antichrist.

I do, of course, plan to be loyal to the traditionally accepted version of the story--I'm not going to have the Antichrist and Satan win the final battle and take over the world. However, I want to create sympathy for the main character, while at the same time making it sadly, painfully clear that this character, whom we will grow to know and--if not love, then at least like--over the course of the book, will be one of the instruments of the end of the world.

I have many ideas, and I have yet to write anything concrete down. I want to toy with the idea first, before I actually set anything in stone.

Ideas, suggestions, critiques on the premise, all are welcome and will be considered. (Hell, if I actually publish the book, I'll even credit you. razz )

I do not intend to offend anyone; however, I realize that it is inevitable, especially with this subject material. I respectfully apologize to, but disagree with, those who will view this as heathenistic and/or wrong in any way.

Let the bone-breaking, flesh-tearing commentary begin.

Actually, that sounds interesting. It is indeed quite painful to watch normal people grow up to be evil.

I made up this rp bace a while ago. Excuse the
's in the text as I may have missed some.

Half world
The world we know has ended. The Planet Mercury has an anti-heat in it’s core. It was to crash into the surface of the sun within a month. The scientists concludes that sun go black hole on contact with the anti-heat and at the last second one man came forward with the answer he showed us his machine, called the quantum generator. He told us that it was still at the experimental stage but it was probably our only hope. We used the man’s machine to rip the planet out of this dimension into another. This machine took all power we could sacrifice to run it. Blackouts caused mass chaos and confusion. The dimension we moved into had different laws than ours, the supernatural and magic Have been transmitted into our lands.

We also came in contact with a foreign planet on the same orbital track as us the same size as ours. The current universal government’s main directive is to find if it’s supports life and if so, find out if it is hostile.

MAIN GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS

Universal Gov.
In the face of planetary destruction the countries have decided to band together to for one government for self preservation. There is still unrest. They also control a large army.

Captains:
A general mix of skills between sniper, assault, stealth. Med camouflage

Sniper:
Long range gunner love slow precise rifles with scopes. High camouflage

Assault:
Carry a assortment of rapid fire imprecise rifles or hand guns. Low camouflage

Stealth:
Cary silenced pistils that make no sound and are incredibly precise. They also get reactive camouflage ( camouflage that changes to match the colors around them)

Atlantis Inc.
A bio/mech oriented mercenary company who sells out their costom made soldiers to an non-ethical crowd (basically….. any one who can pay the hefty bill). Also in the transfer from this world to the other, many of their creations escaped.

Atlantis Inc.’s four divisions
The five main groups of Atlantis’ creations

Half breeds:
Their powers only activate when they get a strong emotion. They have something called a Digene that when adrenaline goes through there veins they switch to a second set of genes that gives them un-human strength and agility but will kill every thing they see once they enter this state. The second gene is usually that of an animal.

Mechs:
Basically robots. They sometimes have biotech mental processors in them (human minds). Usually have some ballistic weapons and high power rifles.

Cyborgs:
Half Mech, half perfect.

Perfects:
Humans with half-mechanical minds. Good snipers.

Clairvoyants:
These units have Extremely enhanced sences and are trackers. They recently have developed minor Telekinesis powers.

Rebellion
These people have rejected the government and have formed a separate group of outcasts there are many people who have discovered magic in this group.

Necrogoth:
Dark magic users.

Solias:
Light magic users

Neureon:
neutral magic users

It sounds like a good idea. Personally i think a good touch would be to add that in his young age he tries to be good, but things always go wrong, or that he is always naturally hated and nobody knows why, which leads him down the path of evil in the end after a long lonely childhood.

I like this! It sounds like it will be very interesting to read; I would so read it! I do agree with xYUSIKEx about him starting out trying to be good. I really can't think at the moment, though... (major headache) so I can't offer anything else.

Oh, where did it go? I had something, but I can't find it anymore!!!!!!!!!

This would be an awesome book to read.

I do have an idea to help, but if you don't like it, feel free to kick it into the wind. mrgreen

You stated you wanted to have it where you see the end, and then the beginning. What if the end we see is a vague, longish prologue, then the book starts out in the beginning with a couple of main characters who are all the same age and live hard lives? That way, the reader will have to keep on guessing who the Anti-Christ actually is throughout the story.

But the problem there is that the Anti-Christ's name is Damien. sweatdrop

Actually, it depends on what form of Satanism that you follow. There is modern and traditional Satanism. Modern Satanists believe Satan is the symbolic representation of humans' natural, animalistic instincts, while Traditional Satanists follow LaVey's Satanism, which views Satan as an actual deity.

Excuse me, could I get some advice here?

I have a story that involves a land that seems to have popped up out of the past. This land has been thriving for thousands of years without the world ever realizing that it exists. It's almost like stepping into the past when you enter this land. It holds a system that seems to be an evolved feudal system. Certain parts of the system match feudalism exactly, while others have been abandoned because they don't work well with the people, and parts of the laws have been completely modernized. The most amazing part about the land is that it has been hidden so well for so many centuries.

Now, here's where my trouble lies. Royalty and wealthy people of the land associate often with the outside world. The king of the land, when driven into exile, comes to live in different parts of the world. I'm trying to figure out how I can keep the land hidden from everyone around, while making it in the real world. I have come up with some ideas so far, but I still remain doubtful and undecided. Here's what I have:

I could make a rough copy of the world, changing the landscape and hiding this land somewhere inside, but otherwise leaving everything as is.
My problem with this is that I hate reading stories where the author isn't creative enough to step outside the box and imagine instead of taking something already existing and changing the name, trying to sell it as their own, and I am afraid of doing that to my readers.

I could make myself a new world, again leaving the land hidden somewhere inside, but I again run into problems.
I am horrible with constructing worlds, and I tend to end up copying Earth which is what I am trying to avoid above. I don't think I can pull something like that off and make it worth the while, so I am back to the beginning again.

I could just pretend like people are idiots and don't have the brain power to realize that a country as big as the USA exists right under their noses, but I would then be mocking human intelligence, thus mocking my own, which I am a little too proud to do.

The idea that I've been toying with the most recently is making this land in a parallel dimension. But then a lot of questions and kinks arrive. How would a human be able to go through a parallel dimension? Should it have any effect on them? If anyone can get into this dimension, then why do the people have to be helped in? Why hasn't anyone found out about it? Is it possible for a war to be waged between dimensions? The questions and confusion of another dimension being added into the mix kind of leaves me wondering if it should be done.

Any opinions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, I remembered the idea I had for a novel, and I started it!

(I'm using Randy Ingermanson's Snowflake method to write this, so here's step one based on my novel idea)

This is the RP I've made.
Jin-Roh 2/3 Echo

I have an initial mission posted, but I need help writing other things that affect the world. I need political responses for the outcomes of objectives, how the local population will act in each case, how foreigners communicate with each other, how NPC's like the Russians and Japanese will act. Any side mission ideas or breaks from the mail story line would be great too. Please PM me with what you had in mind and we'll see what we can do.

QUESTION.

I've noticed that there has been a serious lack of superhero-based RPGs most everywhere I've visited, even on sites outside of Gaia (unless, of course, they are fanbases >> ). My hobby being that of investigating the premise of "powers", I was hoping to create a guild of my own that was based on this topic.
HOWEVER, I ran into a roadblock when I realized that the only original background for the development of the character's powers was the one that I'm using for my novels, and I'd rather not reveal every last detail due to paranoia. oO Also the genetics idea has already been taken.
So I ask, what's left? Is this even a good idea at all? Or is the superhero plot waaay too overworked to consider creating a guild? I'd like some opinions. ^^
