The main reason anyone even talks with any sort of grammar at all anymore is because it's damn fun to be pretentious. All the other people are just too lame to realize how much fun it is to feel better than other people.
Any sort of addition of "it's the correct way" or any deviations are simply masquerades for the raw self-love that every grammatical typist has deep inside them, and occasionally in their pants.

I wouldn't say it's deep inside of me. I tend to flaunt my obsessively correct nature like a n00b flaunts flame clothes.
And mine burns even worse.
