Yeah. Why would they cancel it? It's wicked popular.
If they did have hiatus, it'd just give me time to watch the whole classic series! xd I've formed all these ideas about the classic series just based on what I've read and stuff.

Don't wait for a hiatus, watch the classic series now smile You've got a lot to get through if you are just starting. Doctor Who will survive anything, but I really don't want them to put it on hiatus again. That would just be dumb.

I hope that that rumor is not true! I can't go back to life without the Doctor! It is an amazing and beautiful world, that of the Doctor, and I just can't see them destroying that once again to make way for something paltry by comparison. They just wouldn't do that! They can't!

Oh please. rolleyes
Doctor Who ain't goin' nowhere. The mere idea of cancellation at this point is beyond absurd. Once again the Sun gets an interview from a shirtless half-retarded homeless man outside the BBC and calls him an "inside source".
Remember, these are the same people that said David Tennet would be replaced with Jason Statham. razz

Kaidan Also, though, related to this rumor is one that RTD is leaving after season 4...which is what would "kill" the series. Even this is unbelievable, because without him, there's an army of skilled writers that would easily take up the head writer crown. There's really just too many rumors about DW going around too much of the time to really give them serious thought/worry. Not worth it. Could it be true? It might be a good thing. He can go concentrate on his little pet show (Torchwood), and maybe DW can return to its roots and forget the DoctorxCompanion shippiness.

Besides, it's the longest running sci-fi, it just... has... ... to keep going... or else... ninja

On the one hand, I don't think that they'll end the whole show. That'd just be silly - they're in it for the money and it's making a lot of that, certainly. On the other hand though, I wouldn't mind too much if they did let Russel T go, rather than having his reign drag on and on after he's run out of really good ideas so that it turns into a bit of a joke. Get some new writers in there, I'm sure lots of people would want to!

I agree. Doctor Who is far too popular to cancel. And, even if they did, I'm sure we could all catch up on every other episode of Doctor Who ever made. 3nodding

Actually, I don't think I'd be half as interested in Doctor Who is he didn't have a companion. They usually add a hell of a lot to the storyline. Half the episode is usually interaaction between the doctor and the copanion. Without that, it would all be testosterone crap and it would probably get boring. Fast. confused

Eirwyn . I've been a big fan for over twenty years now, more than half that with no new Who. I won't stop now. If you really really love something, you won't quit liking it just because there is no more being made or it stops being trendy. yeah.... a good example would be harry potter....last book is coming out soon, then two more movies....after that there will be 50 years of fanfiction and art before it slowly trundles off into oblivion...and even then the hardcore fans will keep reviving it...passing to thier children..... the same will be true for Doctor who.....
