.R O L E P L A Y E N T R Y. A Call to Duty || Pt. I Reponse to the Confidential Letter Quote: Upon waking this morning, Akila was surprised to have recieveced a package which was no bigger than a letter by the size of the envelop it was in. She gave the delivery man an awkward smile, then signed her name on the paper he handed to her. "What do you suppose it is?" Akila asked, not really expecting an answer.
"Only one way to find out ma'am... " tipping his hat he turned to make his leave. "You have a good day."
Akila waved him off turning to enter her home. She went to the kitchen to pour herself some coffee which had been brewing prior to the package delivery. Taking her cup, she went into the living room making herself comfortable on the couch. She began to examine the envelop as if turning it over on all sides would reveal its contents within. It didn't take long for her curiosity to get the better of her and so she placed her coffee mug on the table next to her and began to open the envelop.
Once open a single sheet of paper slide out into her lab. Putting the envelop aside she picked up the paper to read it, faded red letters "confidential" were plastered diagonally across the paper allowing Akila no room for errors in the importance of this paper.
"Oh my..." she said and quickly began to scan the paper, reading everything that was offered on the paper. Once finished she placed the letter in her lap and mulled over what she planned to do.
Did she really want to take on such a reponsibility? And why were these people contacting her? How for that matter? She wondered, all of these questions and many more were sure to follow... but there could be only one way to get all the answers she would need.
"I accept." she said to herself, reaching over to pull the phone near to her from the table, she dailed the phone number written within the letter. The phone ranged a few times before the line clicked and soon a voice came on... she listened to the prompt that was left and waited for the beep before leaving her message.
"My name is Akila Zeshiro, I am contacting the powers that be in response to the confidential file you have sent to me." She paused a moment making sure this was something she wished to do. It didn't take long for her to come up with a final answer. "I accept the reponsibilities of my duties. Please contact me further with more information." She left her number and other such information for easier access and returned the phone on its reciever.
With that out of the way she turned to the letter and read it once more making sure not to miss out on any information it may have. Satisfied with herself she put the letter back in the envelop and sat it on the coffee table.
From this day forward life would be most interesting...but further more, Akila realized she had a lot of pressure on her shoulders. To raise a child that wasn't even of her own flesh was one thing... but a child that had special abilities. This was boarding on outlandishness.
"Ah well... whoever the child is, I'll be sure to do my part and raise'em well. I can only hope I do a good job." With that she finished off her coffee, making her way to the bathroom to finish with her morning rituals.

At the Metropolis Headquarters, Charles was currently buried in files. Muttering several swearing words, he lifted files and chucked them on the ground, while he kept on trying to find the one he wanted. He was quite frustrated and perfectly ready to bang his head on the desk when he suddenly found what he wanted. "Yes! Finally!"
He let out a sigh and opened up the file. It contained the photo of a young boy, seemingly no older than eleven. He had blonde hair and brown eyes and was grinning at the picture. "Alright... let's see..." Charles kept on muttering as he was flipping the pages of the thin file. Even though thin, it contained quite a lot of information, starting from the birth of the boy up until now.
"There you are." Charles gave a weary smile as he had landed at his goal. A sheet of paper, bearing the text 'POWERS'. His face took on a frown as he read about the powers of the child and the possibilities several scientists uttered. At the bottom, there was an extra note made by one of his most important researchers.
Control is of utmost importance with this boy. He needs to train to get adequate control of his powers quickly before things may get out of hand. We advise to pick up the boy and find a suitable guardian AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Again Charles let out a sigh as he shook his head. At the news of the powers of this particular boy, he had taken immediate action and had let his researchers compile a list of most suitable and able guardians for this boy.
He glanced at his watch. The letter should have arrived at the guardian right about now. Standing up, he glanced a covert look at the red telephone standing in the corner of his office. It was quite the hideous thing, to be completely honest. It was red and looked completely out of place. He took a glance at the rest of his office. Wooden walls, a mahony desk, and a lot of file cabinets lining the walls. Except for the back wall, where the telephone stood on a table in the corner.
It rang. His heart nearly skipped a beat as he jumped to answer, but stood still as he rememberd procedure.
The voice rang through his office: "My name is Akila Zeshiro, I am contacting the powers that be in response to the confidential file you have sent to me." She paused a moment making sure this was something she wished to do. It didn't take long for her to come up with a final answer. "I accept the reponsibilities of my duties. Please contact me further with more information."
He smiled. His first genuine smile in a long time. This was the first guardian that had accepted. After contacting four others, they had finally found one.
He sat down and typed out a short letter. He then picked up his own phone. "I need a messenger in my office now." Charles didn't even bother to listen to a response and immediatly put down the phone, awaiting the arrival of the messenger. He hit a button on his keyboard and the printer started. Picking up the letter and skimming it quickly, he pulled out an envelope, which he then sealed.
He really hoped it would turn out well and that the guardian would be suitable. He glanced at his computer, it had files opened from several Villains and their possible powers and poweruses. The future indeed looked grim if the Super status stayed the way it currently was.
Someone knocked on the door. Charles immediatly got to his feet while he snatched up the letter. "Enter!" He didn't wait for the door to completely open, but hurried forwards and gave the letter to the messenger. "This letter needs to be delivered to the same address as before. Ask Janice if you don't know where that is."
"Right sir!" the messenger cheerily tipped his hat, turned and walked down the hallway at a brisk pace.
Charles returned to his desk. A grim look on his face as he dialed a number. "Subject 3 needs to be detained now." his face took on a rather alarmed expression. "Already detained? By whom?!" He swore. "Well, get him out! Immediatly! Then take him to the Headquarters. A cleaner team will be sent out." He listened to the last words the man on the other end said before putting down the phone.
"Damnit." The boy had been apprehended by the normal police. Apparently he had used his powers inside the mall. Charles shuddered to think what could have happened and just hoped the boy would get into their custody soon. He didn't know what the police would be capable of doing to one with these powers, as young as boy would be. He shook his head and sat behind his desk, letting out another deep sigh.
The messenger was already at his delivery address. Being transported by a jet would do that to you. He chuckled as he knocked at the door once more. "Here ya go m'am. There's another package for you. No clue what's in it this time." He laughed heartily as the woman signed her signature again. "Thank you and good luck." He winked and tipped his hat again before practically skipping away.
The contents of the letter.

.R O L E P L A Y E N T R Y. A Call to Duty || Pt. II Quote: After reading the confidential letter, Akila placed it back in the envolop and sat it on the table next to the other letter. She took a seat on the couch to contemplate things further. She had already taken the task of raising this young boy, but she wasn't sure of the things he liked, how he acted, his personality. Even what the boy looked like was a mystery. Still she had always wondered what it was like to have a little brother or son for that matter.
Depending on their bond with one another would most likely determine their relationship in the future. Akila smiled at the possibilities, weither she loved him as a brother or a son remained to be seen but for now she would love him for just being in her life.
Hurry to gather her things, she grabbed her usual shoulder bag and a coat. Taking her keys from off the counter went to her car and quickly made her way through the city to N.S.A Headquarters to recieve her new charge, Erol.

.R O L E P L A Y E N T R Y. Picking Up the Peices Kuuroinochou Akila chortled coughing slightly to mask her amusement. She stood up straightening her clothing and bowing politely. "Sorry bout that... bit bored I was." Was all the explaining she would give. It was the truth no less.
She heard the cries coming from outside of the door and raised an interested eye but there was nothing for her to do as the door shut silently. "So... um... any release forms I have to sign or what not? When can I see him?" she asked eagerly. More surprised at herself for wanting to take on this project in fact it wasn''t a project to her anymore... no it was something of a mission a call to duty. Her destiny in a sense. She walked past Charles and picked up the paper airplane setting it back on the table with its brethren.
Taking a seat herself she fiddled a bit. "Sorry...so is there some things I should know before hand?" she wanted to be promptly prepared and simply wouldn''t allow surprises that were out of her control. More or less she didn''t want to surprise the boy past what was probably the shock of his life at current. Being made to live with a complete stranger would have turned any kid bitter. She could only hope Erol wasn''t this way and rather more active. Charles "Ah, I see" he slightly shook his head before sitting down on the opposite side of the bench, giving Akila a good image of himself.
He gave her a slight smile. "There are no release forms or anything of the sort. There are only a few things you need to know right now. I''ll try and make it as quick as possible."
His face took on a serious expression as he looked the woman in the eye. "First of all, we only detain the children when we have received a positive response from the guardian. No need to worry or frighten them. However, there was a... incidident... earlier today, involved Erol and his powers. He was inside a mall when his powers just... caused chaos. Needless to say, the resident police force intervened." Charles sighed, averting his eyes before looking back at the woman. "We are not sure what they have done to the boy, but he is not acting normally at all. He has shut himself off from us completely and we were hoping you could help him." He had subconsciencely been clenching his fists, and didn''t notice it, until a drip of blood fell on his pants. He glanced down quickly before rising.
"Please follow me and I will take you to him." He moved to the door, expecting the woman to follow him. "Oh," he smirked, "if you hear any noises, screams, bangs or anything of the kind, just ignore them." He nodded before opening the door and following the hallway. Using his normal brisk pace he set off.
Noting that the woman could keep up with him, he started to explain more about the boy. "Alright, Erol''s full name is Erol Avery, he is ten years old and as you were written, he has shockwave control." He looked around to see if she was still keeping up with his pace. Satisfied he turned around, when another otherworldly scream sounded not that far up ahead. He stopped immediatly, and took a turn.
As if nothing had happened, he continued his explanation. "There are several kinds of shockwaves we believe he can omit. There are the actual energy-like waves, which can cause earthquakes and tidal waves, and there are the smaller ones, which are harmless to man in general, but can severely disorient a person. Of all of these, Erol has only displayed the destructive force so far. We are sure there are other uses as well, but those would be up to you to discover."
All the time, during his talking, Charles had been taking random turns left and right, hoping that they wouldn''t run into the creatures. They finally arrived at a door, flanked by two guards. They looked rather nervous, keeping a close eye on the hallway. He stopped in front of the door and looked back again at Akila.
Taking a key out of his pocket, along with a creditcard and a paper, he handed it to her. "There is a government appartment waiting for you at this address while the creditcard will cover all expenses you might need. I am available twentyfour hours a day, if you might need me. The number is also on the paper. When you have met Erol and gotten acquintanced with him, one of the guards will take you to the exit where there will be a car with driver waiting for you. All your belongins are already in the appartment, together with your car." He gave her a nod. "Wait one more minute please, I will speak to Erol first."
He opened the door carefully and stepped in. Leaving Akila to wait once more. The guards were looking at the woman in front of them, trying to size her up. "Hey," one of the guards said, "Do I know you from somewhere?" He scratched his head. "You look familiar."
Just then the door opened again, signalling for Akila to enter. Charles smiled at her and a boy in the room. "Erol, this is Akila Zeshiro. She will be taking care of you." He smiled at the boy before looking back at Akila. "Akila, this is Erol, your charge."
He took several steps backwards so he was standing in the shadows and they could get to know each other. Kuuroinochou Akila listend to all that was explained soaking up the information quickly. Her pace was fast and true as she turned a corner just after hearing another scream. Still curious she quirked a brow but there would be no explaination as to what the comotion was all about. She could only hope whomever it was or whatever was okay.
As she was led to the door where they held Erol she mulled over possible ways to come at the boy. He had to have withdrawen within himself, being rather protective of who was around. She stood outside the door chancing a glance at the guard who seemed more interested in small talk then guarding.
She smirked. "If we''ve met you wouldn't have forgotten." she said simply, her sassiness coming to the surface. Before the guard could reply back Charles returned opening the door.
She stepped through slowly and softly so as not to frighten the boy. He was seated in a chair seeminlgy turned away from the door. ''Here we go...'' Akila thought to herself and stepped over the threshold into the room. She found a chair next to the boy and pulled it up next to him. The chair was backwards so she straddled it leaning against the back end. "So...how are you?" she asked, she wasn''t one for beading around the bush, patience wasn''t her forte but she didn''t want to rush with him.
Erol was still looking down a bit somberly, shy even. He heard the lady next to him and chanced a glance at her. "Hi." was all he said and returned to looking down at his hands. He couldn''t help but muster a slight smirk, 'She's pretty, was his thoughts.
Akila sat up a little leaning back in the chair far enough to cause the front end of the legs to come off the ground. "So you have the ability to rock..." she chuckled. "Shockwave control is it? Do you know how it happened?" she asked again wanting him to open up.
He sighed a bit annoyed or perhaps unsure of himself. "No." was his reply. Akila smirked again, she could see herself helping him blossom. He was only this way on the surface at least that what she liked to believe.
Standing she turned to Charles with a bright smile. "He''s adorable I''ll take him!" as if she hadn''t already agreed to the job. Turning back around she knelt down whispering to Erol. "Well would you like to go home with me and fix your room?"
This brought a slight smirk to his face but he managed to hide it again and ventured another chance peek at Akila. "It''s not like I have a choice." he said bitterly.
Akila chuckled standing up and reaching her hand out. "Honey, you always have a choice in life. It may not be the ones you like but you get to choose nonetheless. So lets go fix up your room then." she paused smiling down at him with a slight wink. "Besides, its a new appartment I haven''t chanced a look at it either, so it will be a new experience for the both of us."
This brought another half smirk to his face as he reached out his hand to take hers. He looked at Charles a moment his smirk vanishing once more, then he returned to looking down.
Akila chuckled coming up next to Charles, she whispered. "He''s being brave... I think he''ll come around but its gonna take some time. I got this in the bag. You rest easy." she said softly walking past him out the door. She stopped again giving the guard a slight nod before speaking, "So have we remembered me yet?" she asked and giggled heartily before walking back down the hall and out the building to the waiting vehicle. Charles Charles watched them leave, both the woman and the boy and he suddenly felt a lot more confident in the future. If there was anyone who could help this boy, it would probably be this woman.
"Good luck to you, Akila Zeshiro and Erol Avery," his words were soft and he had aimed them at noone in particular.
Watching them leave, escorted by the guard, he grinned and walked back to his office. There had been another boy they had been monitoring for a while now and today would be his pick-up time. If the guardian would respond, that is.
As he sat down, he let his finger slide down a very long list of names, laying on one of the files on his desk. "Ah, here she is... Ruriska James." He checked her records one more time before he started typing.

.R O L E P L A Y E N T R Y. Homecoming || Pt. I Quote: Akila stood outside a slight scream from within the building catching her attention. Looking behind her she paused ever curious as to what was going on. In her concern, Erol grew curious as well tugging lightly at her hand which he held. Catching her out of her thoughts she looked down at the boy with a soft smile.
"Is something wrong?" He asked with genuine concern in his voice and features. Akila smiled kneeling down to Erol's eye leve. She patted his head after smiling then poked his nose with her finger.
"Nah. Nothings wrong, we better hurry on home... I got dibs on the master suite!" she called rushing past him toward the exit an out the door.
Erol blinked unsure of how to react to an adult with such a childish nature about her. He shurgged stuffing his hands in his pockets and walked out casually behind her.
Akila was at the car that had been waiting for them the door open. Erol came out squinting at the bright sun that caught him off guard. Lifting a hand to his eyes he blocked out the burning ball of fire quickening his pace toward the vehicle. Once there he hopped inside taking his seat. Akila jumped in behind him buckling up her seatbelt and taking her time to make sure Erol was bukled as well. After securing the both of them, she called to the driver, "We're ready to go!" she chimed.
The driver smiled a bit taken by the young woman's glee. He enjoyed her vibrant nature already and turned on the radio for entertainment. "Charles says that all your things have already been transfered miss. Would you like to go back to the old house in case there's something that may have been missed?"
Akila was pretty sure they got everything and needed no reason to go back. "Nah. If anything, could you stop by the book store though... I'd like to get something from there before we meet our destination."
The driver agreed turning in his seat and starting the car. Akila sat back bobbing her head to the music although her attention was focused on Erol. He seemed a bit out of place she realized. Rather uncomfortable for a boy, but she never was one to pry so she didn't ask... allowing him time to get used to her personality. She knew she had an effect on people the way she acked but it couldn't be helped.
As the driver weaved through traffic, Akila turned her attention to the scenary flying by. With her elbow resting on the side of the door frame and her chin resting on her hands she looked almost bored. Her reflection cast and interesting shadow on the window being that it was tinted, she payed it no serious mind looking beyond her image to the buildings and people flying by.
Caught in deep thought she didn't really know what to expect from this boy: Erol Avery. He was the cutest thing she could have ever had the privelaged of meeting but his shy and distance nature was something she never was good at with people. Ever the fun loving, happy-go-lucky type, Akila loved to make people laugh and smile. Maybe it was her way to atone for things she had done in her past...
Sighing she chanced a look at Erol through the glass. He was looking down fiddling with his fingers. He seemed so small so alone and here she was worried about what she would do. It wasn't until she noticed a slight twinkle of something falling from his eyes that she realized he was crying.
In an instant her motherly instincts kicked in and she found her arms around the boy soothing his troubles. "I'm so sorry for ignoring you like that... oh what's wrong please tell me?" she pleaded laying her head on his and brushing softly at his shaggy blond locks.
It happened suddenly but he shoved at her feeling weak for allowing this woman to touch him. "Let me go!" he yelled pushing at Akila but her larger frame would not budge she knew this boy needed a shoulder to cry on. He'd been so brave earlier that she hadn't even guessed he was still in so much pain.
What had happened at the mall? His parents where were they and why would they allow such a thing? All of this came flooding to her mind as she held fast of Erol's fighting form. She spoke calmly not wanting to upset him more, "Erol sweetie, I can't pretend to know your pain but I am here for you. Anything you need I'll be here to help you through it... just let it out. Don't hold all that in, it will destroy you." He hadn't been crying loudly but his tears where dripping fast and hard causing the front of his shirt to soak up most of the moisture.
"Its none of your business...you're just here for the money. Whatever you they told you they'd give you for me don't bother. I'll get out of your hair soon enough!" He shouted shoving at her agian, only this time she couldn't hold on as sudden sensation of shock plowed through her knocking the air out of her lungs.
Akila sat back against the door, gasping for air. It wasn't until she looked at him, noting the fear and anger in his eyes. The car had stopped now the driver growing concerned for the boy and Akila. "Miss..."
Akila tried shouting at the driver but it came out as a gasp... "No don't stop!"
It was too late, Erol had choosen that moment to open the door rather amazingly despite her worry for him. The door gave way from its hinges and flew from sight, as Erol reached to simply open it. In his anger and fear he had unknowingly sent yet another shockwave through his body.
He jumped out into traffic, the driver having stopped the car on the side of the road. Erol chanced a look back noting Akila was slowly getting up, that gave him some comfort depsite his anger of the situation and everything that happened to him, he didn't want to hurt her. The only person that showed him with kindness...aside from Charles but he wasn't so sure about that man as of yet.
He rushed past traffic not paying attention to where he was going. Cars swirved out of the way some were effectively shoved out of the way. No matter what he nothing seemed to touch him. His eyes closed and tears streaming his face he finally made it to the other side of the street and disappeared in the commotion that followed.
Akila stood to her feet, noting the cars and people that had been caught in the traffic accident Erol had caused. Many people were now staring her way as if to blame her for what that boy did. Those angry eyes were met with angry ones of her own as she shoved passed accusing bystanders and hurried after Erol.
"That boy is one of them... we should call the authorities... they'll know what to do." Were of the many comments tossed about. Akila wouldn't let the police get ahold of Erol again. She would make sure of it.
As she ducked around a corner she slumped against a wall holding her stomach from the pain Erol had inflicked. "That boy packs a punch..." she breathed realizing just how much of a threat he could be in a span of a few minutes. "Guess Charles was right, I'll have to be careful with this one." She commented to no one.

.R O L E P L A Y E N T R Y. Homecoming || Pt. II Quote: Still leaning against the wall, Akila looked out past the crowd of people taking in the damage Erol had caused. She looked up and down the busy streets pretty sure he'd gained some distance from her by now. However, it couldn't be helped; she had to take in the damage he had inflicted upon her, her abdomen hurting quite a bit. She took in a deep breath coughing from the pain that seared through her. "Damn, he's gonna be a killer with those powers." Akila commented coming from her resting place. Still holding her stomach area she ventured to look for the boy, despite the distance he may have gained he was still young, scared and alone, and he probably didn't get far.
With a cautious breath this time, she continued making her way through the streets. Heading down a busy intersection she figured Erol would mix with the crowd to cover himself, but she had to think. What would she have done in a situation like this? "Hide." She muttered, only a child of his age would hide. "He probably ran far enough to feel safe then ducked in some alcove somewhere. He's not out of reach, I know it." She said and quickened her pace.
As she hurried down the street the driver pulled up besides her honking the horn. "Miss, get in I can help you find him." Akila stopped her search briefly to calculate the odds, if in the car she couldn't duck into the shops and alleyways scattered about, but if Erol were still on the streets trying to make distance she?d catch up quicker. Regardless she needed to work fast. "Fine." She returned to the car, taking the front seat. The driver sped off though keeping his movements at a steady pace in case of any signs of Erol.
Akila was clearly worried. What had happened to Erol? She had only been given minor details about his detainment at the police station and the previous incident at the mall. "Erol..." It was anyone's guess what the boy had to go through before meeting up with such an unlikely guardian.
Erol slowed his pace walking down the sidewalk, bypassing various people as he remained trapped in thought. He didn't mean for any of this to happen. When Akila had reached out to comfort him, he balked; all his reflexes were against being held. He didn't walk comfort or pity, he wanted satisfaction. The complete and total satisfactions of making his father feel the same way. Why? What did he ever do to be treated as such? His own father had disowned him, and his mother pretended as if she didn't know he existed. His friends all but disserted him.
Ducking into a nearby eatery he sat down at one of the tables, a waitress coming up to him. "Oh! Where's your mother?" The lady asked, Erol shot her a look but came up with a quick lie to satisfy her. "She's parking the car and wanted me to grab a table." He looked out at the street spotting a lady in a car, pointing, "There." The waitress smiled, "I'll get you some water while you wait." After serving his water, Erol was left to his thoughts the waitress catering to the needs of other guests.
.F L A S H B A C K. (At the Mall)
It was a typical day with friends, after begging and pleading, Erol and his friends managed to strike a deal with the parents. Erol and his friends were allowed to venture the mall alone with no parental supervision, only on the premise that the 'rents were in the mall tending to their own business. Therefore, handing them a set amount of cash and letting them out on their own, Erol and friends were free to do as they pleased.
Erol was most excited being able to hang with friends with no 'rents to mind their manners. The kids raced about the mall, dipping into shops to make purchase of favorable items then rushed out to find a new shop to raid. It continued on like this for a time, while Erol and friends laughed and joked with one another. Eventually they grew hungry and made there way to the food court in search of lunch. "So what are we going to eat?" Erol asked, looking at the various selections of food joints floating about. He scanned the court warily not sure of what he had a taste for.
His friends all seemed to know what they wanted and hurried off in all direction to the food joint of their choice. Erol snorted in mock annoyance as he found a table and waited. One by one the boys joined Erol at the table and began to eat, each one giving Erol a concerned look. "You not going eat?" one of them asked, stuffing his face.
Erol shrugged, feeling a sudden queasiness in his stomach. "Nah, I'll just grab something at home." He leaned back in his chair enjoying the company of friends. After a moment of watching them in silence the queasiness returned and Erol began to feel dizzy. Standing to his feet, he excused himself rushing to the restroom just in case. As he entered, the feeling in his stomach knotted up more, and soon his body began to convulse. No one was in the room with him as he entered a stall and put the toilet seat down to sit. He leaned over a bit to adjust himself against the sudden jolt of pain.
"What the?!" he began but the words were cut short as the pain shot from his stomach and jutted out in all directions. From the pain a feeling of complete helplessness began to wash over him as the pain followed. The room was filled with screams of a child unable to do anything, falling to the wet surface of the bathroom floor he writhed and withered about, holding to his head as the pain focused in his mind. "Argh!" He could feel small vibrations rippling through his body at this moment, all of which seemed focused on escape some form of release.
Erol was not happy with the outcome as the room seemed to bend and sway under the pressure. Everything seemed to spin around him, he could feel the earth shaking, the walls crackling under pressure and for some reason none of it seemed to effect him outside of the pain. The doors burst open and Erol's friends enter the restroom in search of him. Calling out to him they finally found him curled in a fetal position on the floor in one of the bathroom stalls. "What's wrong, Erol?" One asked, though they knew very well that it wasn't the right time for questions. "Nevermind that, there's an earthquake we got to get out of here!"
Helping Erol to his feet, they wrapped his arms about their shoulders and proceeded to half carry and half drag Erol out to safety. But it was just as bad out in the court as it was in the restrooms. Pandemonium seemed to take over as people screamed for their lives, brick falling from the buildings structure to collide with the floor or unknowing victims. Erol managed to look up half drugged by his pain half aware. What was going on? As his friends helped him along, another broken bit of debris came crashing in front of them, they barely managed to get out of the way when they all fell to the floor. Looking up they were met with a falling segment of concrete, Erol looked up as well and in the instant that the segment would have crashed into them, it split asunder.
Erol standing tall though wobbling unsteady, he had a hint of fire in his eyes as the segment flew safely away from he and his friends. He looked down to see if they were okay, but the eyes that looked up at him were one's of fear. "S-stay back!" one stuttered, "Who are you?" It was as if they didn't even know him anymore. Erol walked closer kneeling to them to comfort and reassure that he was still himself. "It's me guys, Erol. Its alright we just need to get out of here."
He tried to calm them but they didn't seem too responsive to him and in a fit of confussion they all rushed off in separate directions. Seeing his friends react in such a way had been hard on him, he felt hurt and angry. These emotions alone were enough to make him snap, which is what happened. A sudden silence was brought over the mall before in a massive show of emotions Erol screamed and unleashed his powers laying under the surface.
The mall was his target and everyone in it, as he yelled he could feel the powers surging through his body, the tiny ripples of vibration, some compressed air also shout out from him, as a low hum began to resonate around him, it was like a warning of things to come. But those expected troubles were not to be, as authority figures managed to find Erol in time. Having been informed by Erol's friends and a selection of people that had witnessed Erol's use of power, they came rushing in a hurry. Armed with tranquilizer darts they didn't give much warning firing them off one by one.
Each dart seemed to ricochet off of nothing as they clattered to the ground in front of him. Erol looked up with angry seething eyes, "You would dare to attack me?" His voice was not of his usual resonance as he took a step forward, outstretched hands he did nothing of his own but a part of his subconcsious mind reacted, These people were a threat, they had to be dealt with. In a burst of invisible energy, the men were tossed from Erol's sight thrown over the railing that led to the food court all of them tumbling to the bottom level.
Erol continued his jaunt simply wanting to leave this place and return home, but each time he turned a corner another security guard would step in his way with tranquilizers ready. And each time Erol would simply think him a threat and his powers would do the rest. He of course was not himself, his eyes had seemed to leave from his person, whiting out completely, his hair fluttering about his small chubby frame wildly as his cloths flickered at the pressurized energy about him. Each step he took he would pound into the ground causing it to buckel under the new weight. Such a display was unheard as men, children and women ran for their miserable lives.

.R O L E P L A Y E N T R Y. Homecoming // Pt. III Quote: Finally making his way outside, Erol's new found abilities were slowly beginning to dwindle, he of course wouldn't know the different all of this as new to him as the trip to the mall with his friends. Stepping out into the open air he was met with the resounding click of armed weapons as the police force stood at the front of the entrance.
"Young man, put your hands up and surrender immediately. You are a threat to yourself and these people. I repeat put your hands up and surrender at once!" Came the voice of the commander on the blowhorn. Erol was far from listening right now, his mind had ran away with him a long time ago, and all that was left was a shell of who he was. An emtpy one at that.
Erol smiled, a dark sickening smirk one of things to come as he lifted his hand in fashion of surrender. What came from his hands and a the whole front side of his form was a whirl of energy, so light so unnoticeable that the police force had no time to reach as the vehicles they hid behind were tossed into the air and out into the waiting crowd of bystanders.
Once more pandemonium broke loose, men, children, and women began to run about trying to flee from the scene as it possed a danger. Erol walked down the pathway leading to the parking lot, the police unsure of what to do. He was after all a little boy, but orders were given and they all opened fire.
Somehow the sound of gunshots broke Erol from his lusting state as his brown eyes returned to him and his awareness accessed the situation, he quickly ducked covering himself from the flying slugs. Bullets were pushed away out of Erol's fear of being hurt or killed, though the shots had subsided by now, noticing how Erol's reaction to the shots were so childlike. The commander of the police force was at a loss of words. Just a moment ago the child was willing to take lives and in an instant right before their eyes he had duck instinctively to save himself from harm...just as any child would do.
Watching him now Erol was in tears, huddled up in a fetal position as he cried unsure of what to do. His powers had all but disappeared releasing the majority of its pressure he was docile once more. Moving in, the police force rushed the boy pinning him to the ground. They quickly clamped handcuffs on him despite his continued screams of release. After securing the boy, they put him in the back seat and halled him off to the police station, the remaining force was left looking at a building that was nothing short of rubble. "That boy did all this?" One officer commented. He was in a way scared and surprised that a little boy could do so much damage was nothing short of amazing. And in a way, frightening.
.P O L I C E S T A T I O N.
At the police station, Erol was tossed into his own private cell. He jumped up quickly and rushed the bars though they didn't open a jolt in the building was enough to make the commander worry. "What is this boy?" He asked one of his subordinates the man shook his head unsure himself. "Sir I have no clue. There's been talk of children gaining some kind of unknown abilities. Maybe he's one of them. If that is the case he could become a future threat if the mall were any indication. We need to get ahold of his parents, find out what we can do to prevent future mishaps of this kind."
"Good idea...watch the kid I'll find his folks." And with that the commander was off on a new mission to find Erol's parents and rectify this situation quickly.Erol remained in the cell for a time. After making the necessary contacts, the commander had finally reached Erol's folks. They had sounded reluctant to pick him on the phone but after much talk the commander persueded them to at least make ID.
"Thank you for coming, Mr. and Mrs. Avery. We don't know how this could have happened but we had to detain your son if only to protect him from himself. You do understand don't you?" the commander said.
Mrs. Avery nodded her head solemnly as she remained huddled in her husbands arms. It was Mr. Avery that did all the speaking however, as they were brought to the cell Erol was put in.
The commander came in first waking the boy from a light slumber. "Erol we brought your parents." At the sound of that, Erol's eyes opened wide as he jumped up excitedly.
"Momma! Dad!" he placed his small hands on the bars shaking them as if to get out. "Can I go home now, please?" He pleaded with them not wanting to stay in this cold dank place another minute.
The Averys seemed a bit standoffish, to learn that their son had such capabilities was unheard of. How? What was the meaning of all this, they eyed the boy that had been their son for ten long years. Years they could only cherish, Mrs. Avery let out a choked sob as she burried her face in the crook of her husbands arm. "That's not Erol...look at him! H-he's not my son." Hearing these words although muffled, Erol was given a blow to his chest.
"M-mom?" He ventured to say but the man in front of him, the man he knew as his father frowned and him.
"You are not my son. How could you do such a thing? Who are you?" Erol blinked caught off guard by all the accusations. He was only a boy, ten at that, he had no clue such a thing would happen as if he wanted that to happen. Heck he didn't even know all the details, just that he'd attacked the mall. Most of the time his mind drew up a blank sheet. A few memories here and there but nothing else registered.
"Dad..I'm...I don't understand. Why would you - C'mon let me outta here I want to go home!" He pleaded holding the bars again. His father grimaced aftering hearing the phrase 'dad' as if it would burn him.
"Don't you ever call me that. You are no son of mine..." turning away, Mr. Avery addressed the commander. "Whatever you wish to do is fine. He's not my son." With that said, Mr. Avery walked off with his dishelved wife in his arms. The commander sent someone to escort them out while turning to address Erol.
"Son...I don't know what's going on here but you can't stay here. This isn't a place for you. I'm going to make some calls to my superiors and see what we can do." Erol hadn't listened he didn't really care, the thought of not having a family anymore, a home to return to, it all was lost in the span of one day. He broke down huddled in the corner of the cell crying.
.E N D F L A S H B A C K.
Caught up in thought, Erol hadn't noticed the figure of Akila sitting across from him at the table. She had talked to the waitress and straightened things out with her as she took her seat. Akila had remained silent allowing Erol to daydream as he was. When she saw him finally look at her she smiled. "You okay?" She asked reaching a hand out to his.
Erol wasn't in the mood to fight or run anymore, so he simply nodded his head a soft sigh leaving him, "Lets go home."
Akila smiled at this, he said 'home' which meant he was willing to give it a try. She couldn't pretend to know what had transpired at the mall or police station, only given small details on the matter but for what it was worth, she was always willing to listen when he was ready.
Standing she helped him to the car and sat in the back. He looked so worn and tired, that she allowed him to lay down which he obligued resting in her lap. She smiled at him such a strange child, brushing his shaggy blonde hair from his eyes she leaned over to kiss him gently on the forehead. "It will be okay Erol, you got me now. So rest and when you wake up I'll do everything in my power to keep you happy." Saying this produced a soft whimper and a twitch of Erol's lips. Either he had tried to speak or was willing himself to smile. Either way, Akila didn't mind she was happy to finally have him.
The driver smiled through the rearview mirror nodding his head. "Home?" he asked.
Akila nodded, "Home." she repeated happily.

.U P D A T E. Quote: A week had passed by now where Akila and Erol have gone through some hard times adjusting. With every tantrum Erol had, Akila was there to rebuttle with a tantrum of her own. So alike yet so different the two eventually came to some common ground. Learning to negotiate the two found something to work for as they came to terms. Of course, Erol always found a way to pay Akila back from time to time...

.R O L E P L A Y E N T R Y. Waffles! Quote: Akila yawned nosily as she woke that morning; it was fairly quiet and peaceful just how she liked it considering she was hardly a morning person. Sitting up in bed she listened to the chirping of birds outside of her window, that was a damn good wake up call. Soft, seren, and melodic. She took in a deep breath enjoying her quiet moment...
Easy selector cos I know that you're ruff And the way you play ya tunes ya know you're musically tough I catch your vibe and the way you carry on An you feel say you wicked as you rock the session Pull it back know one time dreadlocks beco me no You addy original don don Play the B-side this instrumental beg you a piece of the version
Akila jumped out of bed at the sound of the bass, drums and loud a** singing. It was coming from Erol's room obviously and she just didn't know what to do with herself. Grabbing her robe from the closet she hurried out of her room and down the hall to Erol's. Trying the knob she was happy to find it locked. "Oh great..." she whispered to herself. Banging on the door she waited for an answer. "Erol! Erol turn that down right now! Erol!"
He didn't answer, either he couldn't be bothered or simply couldn't hear her. She pounded again, and tried the knob one more time only this time it was opened. As she entered the room, Erol was in his boxer shorts and a white tee shirt, bouncing around the room with a brush in his hand as if it were a microphone he lip-synced to the music playing on the stereo he insisted Akila get him.
She wanted so badly to pop him one for turning his music up so damn loud but watching him being a little boy, she didn't want to disturb him. Shaking her head she gave him a look as he happened to see her.
He stopped bouncing around and went to turn off the music. "Good morning." He said with a cheeky grin.
"Good morning to you too..." Akila huffed while rolling her eyes. "I'm going to make breakfast what do you want?" she offered instead of berating him.
"Waffles!" he cheered, those were his favorates at least before things changed for him. He could only wonder how she made her waffles, he had yet to try them.
"Waffles it is then. Get cleaned up and dressed and meet me downstairs..." she said heading out of the door.
When she was a ways down the hall, Erol went for the volume on his stereo but Akila shouted back to him. "No more music!" He looked at the stereo then the door and stuck out his tongue. Tossing the brush on his bed he went to the bathroom to clean up.
Akila smiled as she watched Erol gobble up his waffles. Breakfast being her favorite time of the day she watched him in pleasure happy to know that something so small as a waffle could bring him halfway out of his shell. Over the course of the week he'd managed to keep his distance. Ever so often she would slip up and smile or hug her without knowing it and then go about his usual business as if nothing had transpired.
Allowing him this time to enjoy himself she didn't want the peaceful moment to end but Akila had to get a few things taken care of. Taking a deep breath she set her fork down on her empty plate and folded her fingers leisurely in front of her. Leaning her chin on her steepled fingers she cleared her throat to speak. "Erol?" she called softly waiting to get his undivided attention.
Of course it would take a while as he was in his zone, waffels, surup and butter all of which were items he couldn't seem to resist. After taking the last bite of his waffle he looked up mouth still full of food. "Yeah..." he said reaching for his glass of milk a bit of waffle falling from his mouth and a dribble of surup on his chin.
With a sigh Akila handed him a napkin. "Clean up den listen..." she said waiting for him to do as told. It didn't take too long as he quickly drank some milk and wiped his hands and chin. Now with no waffles between them he managed to pay some attention though his attention was divided on wanting to ask for more. Akila picked up on this and shook her head. "After ah speak with you ah'll get ya some more. Now listen closely."
Situating herself she sat back in her chair looking over the table at Erol. "Ya've been 'ere for a few days now and ah think ya've been doing well. But ya can't stay at home all day. So ah'm gonna see 'bout gettin' ya in school."
A groan came from Erol as he sat back in his chair. "I don't want to go to school..." he whined realizing he'd have to go through a lot of changes. What if the school was for normal kids? He wouldn't fit in.
Akila smiled leaving her chair and situating herself in a chair next to him. She pulled hers closer to him and turned him to face her. "Ah know ya don't wanna go to school...at least not with d'em kids. So ah'm gonna look 'round for a better place. Ah'll talk to Charles and see if dey got a special class for ya. Ya might be able to meet other kids yar age. How's dat sound?" She said noting he wasn't liking it still but was at least listening.
"I guess its alright. But I still don't like that Charles guy." he said truthfully.
"Nevahmind dat, Ah'm gonna talk to'em anyway and see what we can do. Until den, ah want ya to start training." Akila said with finality. She stood to her feet taking Erol's plate and her own and putting them in the sink.
"I wanted more!" he whinned again but Akila stiffled his whine with a stern look. "Well you said after we talk I could get more." he offered instead trying to negotiate.
"Yes but ah didn't say when. 'Sides ya had more den enough. Right now we need to focus more on your powers." Akila said leaving the kitchen and going to the living room. Erol followed automatically realizing his guardian was in one of her 'no-nonsense' moods. If anything she'd probably take away all of his toys if he didn't at least show some interest. Course he was curious to know what had her in this mood to begin with. Once in the living room, she motioned for him to take a seat on the sofa while she went to one of the book shelves by the television. Pulling out two books she came to sit back down next to Erol.
"Dis right here is a journal. I bought one when you were busy shopping for your toys." she informed. "From dis day forward ya gonna document yar life and keep recorded accounts of times that yar powers have manifested. Meaning any time ya use yar powers I want ya to write about the experience...everything. What transpired, what was said, how you reacted, what emotions ran through you, how you felt when using yar powers...everything. Got me?" she said giving Erol a stern look.
Erol took the book opening it up to find blank pages within. The book was blue with green strips two of his favorite colors to certain. With a smile, Akila produced a matching pen of which to use for all his entries. Erol let a smirk cross his lips though nothing more. He could understand what she wanted. "So you want to read my journal then?"
"Perhaps...only if ah have to. Ah just want ya'cha to have something to reflect on. By writin' down what's going on in ya life and how certain actions have an effect on ya powers, it'll help ya understand how dey work." She explained. "I will only read yar journal if you approve of it."
Erol looked at the journal then up at Akila, his smirk was gone by then but he had a confused expression on his face. It wasn't that he didn't understand he just didn't know what he could possibly write. What did Akila expect from him? He was only ten years old, his writing skills at this point were probably elemantary...heck they were elementary. He sighed looking up tiredly..."I have no problem with you looking it over but I'm more confused on what to write." He confessed.
"Ya'll know when it comes ta ya. Just keep ya journal around if ya think ya'll have the time to write an entry." She stood to her feet then patting Erol on the head. "Sides ah got mah on journal so we can share if ya like." She smiled walking over to the book shelf and placing her book back inside. She didn't bother taking Erol's from him figuring he'd want to write almost instantly.
Erol, however, had nothing of interest to write in his journal now so stood to his feet and headed upstairs to his room. Once there he put his book on a shelf along with his pen and went to play video games. Maybe later he'd have something to write about until then no sense worrying about it.

PROMPT - THE NEWS BROADCAST ((The following is a news broadcast. You can choose to ignore this or happen to see it. The broadcasting started at 6 PM on CNN with vague stories. The actual statement, what will be shown below, starts at ten PM.))
The newsreader looked into the camera. "Alright ladies and gentlemen, we've been reporting to you for the past four hours now about the triple murder in the center of Metropolis. There was a Villain concerned, Solarduct who murdered three children. One of the children was believed to be a Super. We now go live to Maria Beckingtail, who's at the spot."
He turned to the side, to a screen appearing "Maria, what is the updated sitation?"
"Well Bill, only five minutes ago, a government agent has given a press statement which we will show you now."
The image flicked to show Charles standing in front of the crowd. He raised his hand and everything became silent. He cleared his throat.
"Ladies and gentlemen. Today, at september 23rd, 5 PM a terrible tragedy occured here in Metropolis.
The Villain Solarduct has attacked the First Kidz play area and murdered three children. These children were eleven years old."
He paused as the muttering started and raised his hand again. "The guardian of one of the children was murdered by Solarduct too, at approximately 4 PM today too. I will take a few questions now."
Charles pointed at someone off screen and the voice of Maria could be heard. "Thank you sir." she cleared her throat, "Several witnesses that have been released have testified that the boy that was attacked was a Super, that he tried to defend himself by shooting something at Solarduct, but that it was too weak. Is this true?"
Charles nodded. "Yes, that is correct. The child was following a training course with the government. His powers were not yet developed enough to take on Solarduct so it was to no avail."
Charles pointed to someone else off the screen. "So does that mean that the government, or the NSA, I suppose, is currently training more children to be Supers one day?"
Charles shook his head "I am not allowed to comment on anything regarding work with the government. Next question please."
Maria called out again "So what's the government going to do next? Are they going to apprehend Solarduct and bring him to justice? Are you not afraid for a thing like Neuron City to be happening again?"
There was a very slight twitch of Charles' eyebrow. "We have been trying for quite some time now to apprehend Solarduct, but this is not easy. The current Supers that are in commission are overworked and have been in several confrontations with Solarduct, but have not yet won. We are working on this matter, but I'm afraid to say there's no promise or guarantee we can make for the future. We feel we have set up a suffice defense to prevent Neuron City from ever happening agan. Thank you. No further questions."
The image changed back to Maria. "There you have it Bill. The government is training children to become the next Supers, but Solarduct is hunting them all down! The government agent wouldn't comment on anything else, but it is suspected that there are more of these children. Perhaps they are living among us, they could be your neighbour! What I would feel necessairy to point out, is that, if you disover your neighbour to be a Super, do NOT reveal this to anyone else. They are the heroes of the future, and when they are all murdered, what hope will there be for us? This was Maria Beckingtail for CNN, live at the crimescene."
The image faded out, and Bill got full view again. He was silent. "Well, that's... surprising. All information can be found on our site, which is updated hourly. We wil be right back after these commercial breaks. I am Bill Notnil. Goodnight."

.R O L E P L A Y E N T R Y. A Reason to Fight Quote: Akila had left Erol to do as he pleased, after introducing him to her new method of training she went to her room to watch some television. Flicking through the channels nothing of interests was on so she left the tv on a random channel. After a moment the news began to broadcast. Akila didn't mind too much information was her life so she awaited the broadcast.
As she watched the news she was recieving gave her a sense of dred. "Solarduct?" she didn't know anything about a super or villian for that matter of such a name. Watching Charles deal with the media, Akila felt a little sorry for him. The poor guy must be under a lot of stress...
Once the boradcast had finished, Akila turned off the tube and sat in silence. She could hear the tinkling music of Erol's video games off in the other room. "Solarduct is out to kill all the children?" she repeated in question. That didn't bode well for her, she would be damned if Solarduct catch Erol off guard. "Fine then its settled we start training now. I'm pretty sure Charles is counting on us to get these kids up to speed. Erol will not fall behind." she said with new found determination. Of the course of their time together, Akila hadn't really pushed Erol to train.
For one thing she didn't know where to begin, and another she didn't understand why they needed to be fighting to begin with.
"The government is training children to become the next Supers, but Solarduct is hunting them all down!"
Yes that's the reason for training. Solarduct, he was out to hunt the guardians and supers down. "The hell he will..." she breathed. Standing to her feet she went to Erol's room, he was still playing his games.
Without a word she went over to turn the console off leaning against the television. She gave him a stern look one of determination and she meant business. "I don't suppose you checked the news lately?" she asked.
"Aww c'mon I finally made it to level twenty!" Erol whinned unsure of what Akila was talking about. He eyed his guardian a moment before the question registered. "I'm a kid...what do I look like watching the news?" he said as if that were all he needed to explain.
"You need to pay attention to the world around you, Erol. There are a lot of worldly events that envolve you regardless if you know it or not." She paused for a moment and sat on his bed patting the place next to her. "Sit with me." she beckoned and waited for him to come over. "Listen. Today was not a very good day for some people like yourself. A guardian and three children were killed today." She guadged Erol's reaction, so far nothing registered. With a sigh she continued. "This Solarduct person is on a personal mission to kill off all the supers and perhaps their guardians. I'm not concerned for myself but you...your the hope of the future Erol. We need people like you to protect us from people like Solarduct." she wrapped an arm around him still monitoring his reaction. "Erol, we have to start your training. I know its not going to be easy but I don't want you to go up against this guy unprepared."
That got a reaction out of him as Erol jumped up off the bed. "I have to fight him?" he asked in concern. "I'm not ready to do that.. I don't even know the first thing about my powers. I can't even control him...I...." he rambled on like this until he finally had nothing else to say. The thought of being hunted like an animal didn't sound so appealing to him. "What do I do? I don't want to fight...I don't know how." he asked brown eyes pleaing.
Akila held him close calming him down before she spoke. "As I said. We train...we keep training until you've reached a level worthy enough of becoming a superhero. And then you kick Solarduct's solar a**... got me?" She smiled ruffling his hair and standing to her feet. "Come on. Lets get you some food, then we'll get some training in." With that they headed downstairs to the kitchen where Akila made her famous gumbo.
After some lunch Akila went about cleaning the kitchen after sending Erol to change into something proper for training. She finished quick enough leaving a few dishes to soak in the sink for later. Wrapping up the leftover gumbo she placed it in the refrigerator and turned to gadge her progress. Done. She smiled and went upstairs herself to put on something suitable for training as well. Once finished she went back downstairs to find Erol outside already doing his thing.
Erol had beat Akila to his training, after hearing the news and noting the concern in Akila's voice when delivering he felt it was probably best to be somewhat prepared if not completely. He had managed to turn on his television as he changed and another broadcast had came one. To his dismay; hearing it from the news in person made the information most final. Solarduct was out to get him and probably others like him. What if he came after Akila? He may not show it but he liked her she didn't push him too hard to do things but when she got serious he knew what was up. Now was one of those times...and he hoped her seriousness would be enough to keep him going. Looking up he saw Akila step from the back door into the gardened area of their backyard. Unlike Akila he hadn't been informed of the underground facility for training.
That didn't matter to Akila who had gotten more information on it by hacking some of NSA's files. They probably wouldn't like that but she had been a star hacker back in her criminal days. It was what kept her out of the thick of the crime syndication, she only stayed on the side lines doing her part without a voice or a name.
Breathing in some crisp afternoon air she smiled and came up beside Erol. "Alright. Before any official training begins we need to understand what you have. For one thing I've gotten some files on you what little that was collected. You're powers are known as shockwave control. What I've managed to therorize is that you can either control sound waves or energy waves. If we're lucky you might be able to do both but for now lets get some basics."
Turning from the boy she went to a bare corner of the backyard and placed a few candles done on the table. Lighting them she waited to see if the wind was going to interfere. Blowing though it was it didn't have enough power this time to cause much trouble. "Good." Akila breathed and motioned for Erol to come closer. As he made his way, Akila stepped aside.
"I have five candles here. What you need to do is blow them out..."
Before she could explain further Erol smirked bent forward and blew out the candles with his own breath. Looking up as if he acomplished something he beamed proudly. "Piece of cake." he admonished gleefully.
Akila slapped him upside the head her serious expression never leaving her. "Smart a**...I didn't mean to blow them out with your breath." She said reaching over to light them again. She turned back around sliding Erol off to the side. "I want you to use your powers. You have to concentrate your energies into your fists then swing inches away from the candles and blow them out with your shockwaves." She punched the air, showing him exactly what she meant. This technique was something taught to her a time back. It took her a helluva time to learn it but when she did, her blows to the human body were devistating.
Her logic at current was on Erol's added effects. If he could control the ebb and flow of his shockwaves he could regulate how hard or how soft to hit someone in close quarters combat. This would come in handy should distance become an issue during battle. After deminstrating she stepped back to show four of the five candles had ben extinguished. Akila sucked her tongue realizing how rusty she was getting. "Anyway you get my drift. Before you start close your eyes and focus your mind on the environment around you. Feel the energies welling within you...channel it to your fists and when you think you've got it. Punch the air and aim for the candles." she instructed then stood back to watch.
Although Erol got one candle the four others were indication of how low level he was in accordance to his control. He didn't yet know how to tap into his abilities and these weaknesses would be his downfall should Solarduct come visiting. His fear was a new source of determination, he wasn't ready to die despite what he had to go through thus far in life. With Akila's guidance he'd found that there were nicer people out there. People worth protecting and if that was the case he would do his best.
He continued on like this for a while none of the candles loosing their light save for the one before. But even if he didn't get it he knew he wasn't slacking off. It would just take time. PowerControl +1

.J O U R N A L E N T R Y. Training Log 001 Case study on shockwaves A K I L A There are a lot of things about Erol I do not know and I can only wish to learn more. However, I'm very much aware of Erol's lack of knowledge about his powers. He isn't aware of how to control them or even harness them for that matter. This could prove to be a deadly matter if not rectified. I plan to work with Erol on his control and concentration. But we must first make him aware of his abilities and so I've decided to do a little research on what shock waves truly are. In my findings they've helped me to better understand his capabilities and hopefully by printing this little bit of information out, I can get Erol to read it and understand it as well.
I know he's young but I do believe he's smart and is capable of learning things about himself through research. For now I've dediced to keep Training Logs on Erol's progress. This will be the first of many which has more information on what his abilities pertain to then what he has achieved.
I do recall purchasing Erol a journal where he was given instructions to log all of his trainings, any and every use of his abilities, the emotions that ran through him and so forth. It would make him more aware of his powers and the emotions that fuel him that way when he returns to his training he can reflect on that emotion and possibly tap into his abilites a lot easier.
I wasn't sure of his awareness until recently; Erol doesn't seem phased by the news report on Solarduct. In fact, after trying to introduce him into a training schedule he elasped and reverted to doing what he's used to. Playing video games. It doesn't seem there's anything I can do to get him out of his funk but I'm not going to let him go without a fight. Erol will step up to the plate if I have to get tougher to do it.
So moving right along, I did a google search on a few possible finds and the following is what I got from it. I am quite pleased and this information seems to be rather lucrative. Hopefully I can use this new found knowledge to my benefit. One can only wonder. Next time I enter a log, Erol will have finished his first true training course. .G O O G L E. .S T A R T S E A R C H. What IS a shock wave? In fluid dynamics, a shock wave is a nonlinear or discontinuous pressure wave. It can also be when the actual molecular or particle speed is moving faster than the wave propagation speed (space shuttle through air). They can and do transport and transmit tremendous amounts of energy (hundreds of Megawatts per square meter for shocks generated by nuclear explosions).
In compressible fluids such as air, disturbances such as the pressure changes caused by a solid object moving through the medium will propagate through the fluid as pressure waves traveling at the speed of sound. When the cause of the disturbance is moving slowly relative to the speed of sound, the pressure wave takes the form of conventional sound waves. The pressure waves enable the fluid to redistribute itself to accommodate the disturbance, and the fluid behaves similarly to an incompressible fluid.
However, when a disturbance moves faster than the pressure waves it causes, fluid near the disturbance cannot react to it or "get out of the way" before it arrives. The properties of the fluid (density, pressure, temperature, velocity, etc.) thus change almost instantaneously as they adjust to the disturbance, creating thin disturbance waves called shock waves and shock heating.
Shock waves are not sound waves; a shock wave takes the form of a very thin membrane (sheet of energy) on the order of micro-meters in thickness. The pressure excursion within the shock wave is so extreme that it causes the speed of sound within the wave to change. Shock waves in air are heard as a loud "crack" or "snap" noise. Over time a shock wave can change from a nonlinear wave into a linear wave, degenerating into a conventional sound wave as it heats the air and loses energy. The sound wave is heard as the familiar "thud" or "thump" of a sonic boom, commonly created by the supersonic flight of aircraft.
There are four types of shock waves: normal waves, oblique waves, blast waves and driven waves.
A normal shock extends perpendicular to the flow of fluid, and the flow goes from supersonic upstream of the shock wave to subsonic downstream. An oblique shock is formed at an angle to the flow, and although the component of flow perpendicular to the oblique shock goes from supersonic to subsonic in crossing the wave, the tangent component of flow is not affected, so the net flow may remain supersonic downstream of an oblique shock wave. A blast wave is produced by explosive phenomena. Blast waves can travel out from their source at supersonic speeds. A driven wave is produced by a source that constantly ejects matter (for example, the solar wind). A driven wave can reach a static state where it bounds the wind. When meteors enter the earth's atmosphere, this phenomenon causes them to heat up and disintegrate; this is sometimes erroneously attributed to friction.
Another example of a shock wave is the boundary of a magnetosphere. At the shock wave, particles from the solar wind will abruptly slow to subsonic speeds.
What are seismic waves? A seismic wave is a wave that travels through the Earth, often as the result of an earthquake or explosion. Seismic waves are studied by seismologists, and measured by a seismograph or seismometer.
Body waves travel through the interior of the Earth. They follow curved paths because of the varying density and composition of the Earth's interior. This effect is similar to the refraction of light waves. Body waves transmit the preliminary tremors of an earthquake but have little destructive effect. Body waves are divided into two types: primary (P-waves) and secondary (S-waves}.
P waves are longitudinal or compressional waves, which means that the ground is alternately compressed and dilated in the direction of propagation. These waves generally travel twice as fast as S waves and can travel through any type of material. As pressure waves they travel at the speed of sound. Typical speeds are 330 m/s in air, 1450 m/s in water and about 5000 m/s in granite.
S waves are transverse or shear waves, which means that the ground is displaced perpendicularly to the direction of propagation, alternately to one side and then the other. S waves can travel only through solids, as fluids (liquids and gases) do not support shear stresses. Their speed is about 58% of that of P waves in a given material.
Surface waves are analogous to water waves and travel over the Earth's surface. They travel more slowly than body waves. Because of their low frequency, they are more likely than body waves to stimulate resonance in buildings, and are therefore the most destructive type of seismic wave. There are two types of surface waves: Rayleigh waves and Love waves.
Rayleigh waves, also called ground roll, are surface waves that travel as ripples similar to those on the surface of water. The existence of these waves was predicted by John William Strutt, Lord Rayleigh, in 1885. They are slower than body waves and can readily be seen during an earthquake in an open space like a parking lot where the cars move up and down with the waves.
Love waves are surface waves that cause horizontal shearing of the ground. They are named after A.E.H. Love, a British mathematician who created a mathematical model of the waves in 1911. They are usually slightly faster than Rayleigh waves

.R O L E P L A Y E N T R Y. [Training Session] Part 1 Quote: Having printed out the google search results, Akila smiled at the findings. While most of what she researched didn't seem to make sense in the fact that most of the shock wave information dealt with air planes and air pressure, she did understand one factor. Shock waves were caused from air pressure yes, but they had nothing to do with air. In fact, they were a burst of unstable energy, heated if you will. And therefore, Erol most likely could use a blast effect if he were trained correctly.
For now, all she got out of the few times she'd seen him use his powers were vague vibrations. Having done research on that, Akila found that Erol may have latent abilities dealing with seismic waves. After he'd pushed her in the car upon their first meeting she could feel a wave of energy course through her body which disoriented her mind for a few minutes, efficient enough for him to get away. And before leaving the car he had went to open the door but it was blown from its hinges before Erol could even open it himself.
Entering his room now, she found him huddled close to his television, game on as usual. With a sigh she walked in front of the screen flipping the television off. "Up. NOW!" she instructed turning to his closet to pull out some comfortable workout cloths. "Put these on and meet me in the training facility." Before he could protest she had made her way out the door.
Erol watched caught off guard and slightly worried. Did he do something to upset Akila? Shrugging he hurried to do as told, changing into a pair of sweats and a tee-shirt. He went to his desk to retrieve his gloves, the ones he had with him when meeting Akila. Though she'd bought him more he wore this often as they were comfortable and familiar to the life he could have lived.
Slipping on his sneakers he hurried to meet Akila not wanting to raise her ire and somehow a bit curious as to what got her so worked up. Entering the facility for the first time he was surprised as Akila; who was standing in the middle of the room looking around. He walked up to her now taking a quick look around before turning his attentions to his guardian. "Um...what's this about?" He asked not sure of what to say or do for the matter.
"This is about you and training. Your not going to wallow away in front of the television anymore. That broadcast about Solarduct should have put a little more backbone in ya, but obviously it upset you. Tell me. What's wrong how do you feel? What are you thinking?" Akila pushed placing a gentle hand on Erol's shoulder she set him down on the cold concrete flooring. "Talk to me. We need to be more open with one another."
Erol sat down looking at his hands as he fiddled with something on his sweats. He wasn't sure how to put things, how he was feeling everything was so urgent and rushed. "I don't know. It's not fair that everyone out there is looking to us to protect them. The other's like myself, are they being trained too?" He asked switching up rather abruptly.
Akila nodded, "Perhaps depending on their caretaker. For now I'm not worried about them. I'm worried about you. How are you holding up? "
"I'm not sure...its all so sudden. One day I'm spending time with friends at the mall. Then suddenly this massive headache rips through my mind and my body errupts." He looked away ashamed. "I felt the trimmers from the ground, I could feel the gust of wind around me the bursts all of it... it was like I was going to explode or something." Erol explained. "Then I blacked out. When I came too. The cops had me."
Akila listened allowing this moment in his training to releive himself of his troubles. Clearing his mind would be easier once they talked. "What about your family?"
"MY FAMILY?" Erol jumped up practically scream. "I have no family my own father disowned me! 'Your no son of mine!' he says, what kind of man tells his son that. I hate him!" He roared and with the sudden jolt in his voice the room shook.
Akila smiled noting this. Just as I thought. His emotions do have a lot to do with his powers. We'll have to work on his control there too. She stood up hugging Erol to her. "It's okay. Calm down... I wanted to bring your attention to something. So I needed to talk with you on sensitive things." She stepped back, holding the search paper in her hand. "Here take a moment to read this. I'll explain things to you once your done. Don't worry about understanding it now I'll help you with that." She handed the paper to him, allowing him to sit and read it taking in what was being explained. Gen Knowledge +1. Special Knowledge(shockwaves) +1
