I'm saving up to buy one, but I'm still going to wait till the price drops. Until Devil May Cry 4 or a third God of War comes out I don't see any reason to rush out and buy one. Plus, I don't care for blue ray because I don't have any movies on blue ray and I don't really plan on getting any.

I want my Wii.
I may get a PS3 someday when I'm an old fart and they're a dime a dozen, just to see what all the hype was about. xD But right now it just doesn't seem worth it. It's just way too expensive!
I was very impressed by the FF7 demo thing, though (even though they're not actually doing a remake). I really want to play FF7, but A) I don't own any Sony systems, B) My PC could never play it, and C) It's next to impossible to get your hands on a copy unless you pay $2465346344 for it. It would be really awesome if they were to actually re-make the game, because then I might get a chance to play it!

cattlazy You will have to buy it if you want to play Final Fantacy 13 I've heard they may also put it on the 360 so if that's true, I have no reason to get a PS3, and I have no plans to ever get one unless someone buys me one.

I hate myself cause as much as I want to refuse to buy the ps3 out of outrage...but I want 15 games for the ps3 as of right now. (KH3, Killzone 2, God of War 3, Resistance: Fall of Man, Darksector, FEAR, Half Life, Ninja Gaiden, Blacksite, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Haze, Heavenly Sword, Metal gear Solid 4, Assassin's Creed, FF13)...look I've never had a consol that wasn't a PlayStation okay?! I'm on the wii train now though. It's gonna win this consol war. Hell it already has.

My personal opinion is that as far as Sony is concerned, the Blu Ray disc's may have been a mixed blessing. Nintendo is known for it's multiplayer, and I think that Microsoft has the lock on Internet superiority. Sony holds it's own in the graphics department. They needed the Blu Ray to keep up. They just didn't count on the price margin's being so high. Maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about, but that's my theory.
Personally I want to get one, but that's after I get a Wii, replace my DS with a DS Lite, and get a PSP. It's going to be a while... sweatdrop

alrighty. awesome stuff to hear about it, but its time now for some INSIDER INFORMATION...well, sorta.lol. i work for gamestop and get into arguements with the sony rep about the ps3 alot and talk to her about it a lot. so here's the deal... ...on prices, the playstation 3 costs 600 smackers (not including tax) just to pick up. in japan it's only the equivilant of 500 american dollars thanks the brilliance and wonder of hideo kojima(famed creater of mgs4). why that didnt transfer over to america is beyond my knowledge, probably b/c they dont really like us at sony.lol. but who knows. neways, for sony to get a 60gig ps3 on the shelf it costs them a cool 1000 dollars. so for everyone they sell they lose 400 big ones, which is also why they dont package hdmi or hd cables with it. but due to the product sony uses in there system (Blue Ray technology and a cell processer) they have to charge a lot b/c there not easy to make at the moment. and from the rep and others inside of sony's offices, sony has no plans to drop the price of the ps3 inside 2007. so for most of you waiting for a price drop while your trying to save enough money it looks like you guys have plenty of time to do so. ...on the numbers right now, if you look into the numbers, which we all know sony most def. does, they couldnt really be happier atm. in the first three months that the ps3 was out they sold somewhere around 902,000 ps3's. that's a pretty substancial number compared to it's main competitor in microsoft's xbox 360, which only sold around 854,000 in the same allotted time. it even beat out it's predocessers the ps1 and ps2 in the same amount of time. (all of this info was taken from the newest issue of game informer. so ive given where my info is form on this one.) ...on game selection right now, at the moment sony has a fairly decent line up. nothing to truly brag about, but nothing signifacantly changing the world as we know it. aside from resistance and virtua fighter 5 there's not a single exclusive title worth owning. sure there's NBA Street, Def Jam Icon, Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion, Fear, and spider-man 3, which are all great games. BUT ALL ARE PLAYABLE ON THE XBOX 360. and virtua fighter 5 is set to drop this august on the 360 as well.
more is on post numba 2.

INSIDER INFORMATION cont. ....on upcoming titles, sure we all are really excited about some of the HUGE blockbuster hits to arrive on store shelves for the ps3 in the future. games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4, Kingdom Hearts 3, Killzone 2, Warhock, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Assassin's Creed, Grand Theft Auto 4, Army of Two, and lets not forget the THREE, count 'em THREE, different Final Fantasy XIII's that are slated to release hopefully before the end of the year. and as awesome as that list sounds there are a lot of exsclusivity issues with it. DMC4, MGS4, GTA4, Assassin's Creed, Army of Two, and Final Fantasy XII, all have either A)have already been announced to be on the 360 as well, OR B)are having it's exclusive rights in the talks so are possibly going to be on the 360 or wii, although more than likely the 360. ....on a sony based timeline, from what ive heard sony has comitted to the ps2 for at least a min. of another 2 to 3 years. this is there subconsious way of aknowledging to us, the consumers, that yes it's price is rather steep right now. yet this doesnt provide us with a true reason to buy a ps3 right now. i mean if i knew that in three years god of war 3 will come out on the both the ps2 and the ps3 than sony better hope they get ther 60gig ps3 cheaper by then. which they probably will, but you never know. but mainly what i was trying to say her was that if your holding on to your ps2 for as long as possible you can stop squeezing it to death b/c the two of you have a couple of years leftover.
so for me personally and in my opinion, it's looking like it has the potential to be a killer system. but it def. needs to get it's ducks in a row a little better so before i decide to pick one up. it needs to pull stronger exsclusive titles aside from just the few it has and will have right now, and drop down to around 400 bucks before i buy one...unless i hit the lottery and have money to splurg.lol

I can't play FPS on consoles. Its so hard to shoot with a controller. >_<

cutefairy012 I dont want to be murdered by someone trying to steal a PS3 You don't have to worry about being murdered now. They're all over the shelves. I loved that interview in Game Informer, where Billy Pidgeon says something along the lines of "Just because they're on the shelves and a good percentage of people sold theirs on Ebay to make money doesn't mean we're sucking." (Meanwhile the Wii is still avoiding shelves. Hmm. Sony? Any comments?) Anyway, I'm ashamed of Sony. I loved my PSone (still have it because I have so many memories with it) and I love my PS2 almost as much as I love my own computer. Well, it's no REAL competition, but they can be compared. PS3 was a bunch of expensive unnecessary technology thrown into a box. Sony denied the gamers. I'm all for Nintendo on this run. (Sorry XBox, you weren't there in my childhood.)
It's not fair to say that the PS3 doesn't have any good titles (even though I do) because it's got plenty. It had almost no launch titles, which was a kick to the nuts to everyone (yes, including girls) especially Sony. The PS3-only games they have right now... Resistance is ******** amazing (I played a demo) and there's a handful of others that I'd like to play. Personally, the console-drama right now makes me flee to PC even more than usual.

PS3 = The end of Sony's console empire. 'nuff said.
The PS2 had some extra functions: DVD player, hard drive, online connectivity, and two USB ports. The success of the PS2 led the suits at Sony to believe that more functions = better console. So they released the PS3 and the PSP, with more functions than a swiss army knife. But they failed to think about a key factor: price. A Sony PSP costs in my city something like $300-400 dollars, while a Nintendo DS costs something like $90-100. The Wii is much less expensive than the $1000 dollars a PS3 costs, and its motion-sensor controller is way superior.
The result? Nintendo is once again the king of console gaming, and Sony has failed.

In my opinion, Sony's committing financial suicide with this thing. The only person I know personally who owns a PS3 is a 36-year-old computer technician who makes six-digit figures every year. I woudn't spend six hundred dollars on a machine just to play Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, and RPGs are my favorite game genre! I don't think the extra junk Sony piled onto the PS3 is worth it at all. The only game that, if announced, would get me to buy a PS3 would be if Capcom made a Mega Man Legends 3 that was PS3-exclusive. Sony should really take a lesson from Nintendo--it shouldn't be about the potential your console might have to make a pretty game, it's about the entertainment value of the games currently being produced for your console!

Maybe you'll kill me for saying this but I'm not lying! I got the Ps3, for now there's no problem with it. But my dad gave in trade in 219 games to get the ps3, a controller and 3 games, and for now I'm very pleased with it!
