"It must.. have been a long journey. You must be quite an accomplished.. or very determined mare to survive by yourself." He said, as he remarked on the subject.. He was and probably sounded quite impressed. "I've heard that the lands outside of this one can be quite dangerous.." but his voice trailed off as his mind wandered to the thought of the more dangerous soquilis.

He was nibbling at some grass when K'jatu introduced the subjects of families.. causing him to cough on the grass he has just ate.

Raising his head up, "Why do you bring up the subject of family?" Kail said, a bit surprised. It was certainly a surprising change of subject.. Or at least it was for him. He usually avoided those subjects because he found only mates, and doting parents to discuss it. He always felt awkward in conversations pertaining to families. Maybe it was because he wasn't a family person or anything.

"Why would you speak of families? Are you planning to start one?" A casual question, he asked. But wasn't K'jatu alone? The subject made him a bit confused but it also made him a little uneasy. Why? he didn't even know why himself~

K'jatu smiled slightly, "Accomplished perrhaps, mainly lucky to not run into trouble that I could not handle."

At his choking she looked at him with a small smirk and shrug, "I brought it up because my herd is scarce. Where I grew up, not many were priveledged enough to have children. So many here have children, more than one even, its very very strange, to me. I myself have been happy to be alone, but I miss my family. You should consider yourself lucky to live here."

"Well... You could also say that too." Luck would have been a must, for traveling. But he didn't believe in luck much, as Kail thought of things in a logical manner. But from time to time, the word had crossed his mind more than once.

However... Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the smirk she gave him. "What is up with those smirks?" As he raised an eyebrow. "I'll wipe those smirks off your face." He said, a bit smugly. "That is. if you keep doing that~"

But he shrugged at the 'lucky' comment, whilst inwardly, he didn't believe that he was 'lucky' at all to be here. "I don't know. Children is or isn't a privledge depending on the Person.. and I think that applies to their environments too." He pointed out sensibly. "But there isn't much use in arguing either if either of us are planning to debate upon this subject." He said, as he wrinkled nose slightly in distaste at the word 'debate' also known as arguing. Arguing wasn't considered a good thing.. Or Kail predicted.

"As we are both set in our opinions, so it doesn't really matter."

The mare seemed to shrug, "I merely said that it was a blessing for those who wanted families. I certainly cannot fathom tolerating anyone long enough to want to bear their children, let alone be intimate enough to even have that be a possibility. I like my own personal bubble space."

She shrugged, "Not that I don't enjoy a lengthy debate really, but I wouldn't want to bore you with a discussion of schematics or morals if you weren't in the mood for such debate."

"Forgive me, If I'm not ever in the mood for such debates." As he moved off to one side as he noticed a seagull nearby. They were quite interesting actually.. as of now. He felt a bit uncomfortable by such a frank mare. Was that sarcasm he detected? Hell's bells, what did he do now?

"I suppose it is a blessing." As he raised an eyebrow. "But you must be very independant.. or very solitary." He commented.. "Mates are there to support eachother." He said, cautiously. "I wouldn't mind one, But only if it were a love match." As his mind wandered to the past..

The mare laughed easily, "I prefer independant, solitary makes me sound too negative, but independence is usually regarded with a bit of reverence and respect. The truth of the matter be told though is that I am too honest and have no social grace what so ever."

She grinned and continued, "I should consider myself blessed if I ever find a stallion willing to put up with my pin headed notions and 'independence.' I've had no luck so far in even culturing real friendships, only aquaintences of passing it seems."

"But don't you think someone with a -different- sort of social grace would be more refreshing than those common tactful females?" Kail said. He met too many of those already, who annoyed the hell outta him. "You have social grace.. It's just not the kind that everyone else has.. but it's unique nonetheless." As he gave her a smile, while gesturing at the subject. "It's refreshing actually."

"You'd consider it a blessing?" As he stared at her with confusion on his face. He didn't think that K'jatu would have to work very hard for a mate. "Well. I think if a soquili was in love with another, they would not mind the person's traits as the traits -makes- the person.. You know?" Chuckling slightly.

"Well... Don't worry. Friendships are hard sometimes.. But they'll last.." As he gave her a knowing smile. "Or.. maybe not." As he thought of the possible situations where friendship.. Well. Rather not to think about it.

"If you'd like, I could be your friend?" He suggested.

The mare smiled slightly, "Well, i'm glad that someone appriciates the intricate social dance of honesty. Seems to me alot of people have forgotten the merit in favor of politely skirting an issue, which never accomplishes anything."

She continued, "I would consider it a blessing. That's what I feel love is, it is usually an underserved gift of the heart, given by someone who is altruistic enough to share themselves with someone else. Real love is hard to come by. But you're right, real love would transcend the boundaries of fault and continue unconditionally. Maybe I'm just a romantic at heart...Don't tell anyone though, okay?" She winked, "I have a reputation of apathy on the subject to maintain." A smirk.

K'jatu paused a moment, thinking and nodded, "Friendships are hard, but if your offer is real, I value ours already. Thank you."

"Not like skirting the issue will do anything." Rolling his eyes in scorn at the idea. he always wondered 'Why not handle the issue right than and there?' It was damn annoying, when a person wanted to run away from their problems instead of confronting it.. It never did any good. but of course, Kail should have known that first-hand already.

"Depends on how altruistic they are.." He muttered. "Not everyone is like that~ But it'd be nice if everyone was.. but sadly not." As he shrugged. Unconditional love was nice.. But than he had seen cases of where a person's love could turn twisted.. or demanding. It depended on the soquili.

"But.. a romantic?" Raising an eyebrow at the thought. "That does indeed surprise me~" He said, casually. "And hey. I'm not promising anything." Giving her a smirk right back. "I'm not one to keep promises.. So I try to avoid making one at all costs, as they tend to be annoying."

"And I'd like to say your welcome.. Although. I -do- warn you that I may be a bad influence from time to time.. more often than not." As he chuckled. "Don't say that I didn't try to warn you!" His voice playfaul but truthful at the same time..
PostPosted: Mon Jun 11, 2007 1:08 am

"I've often wondered the same thing. It seems to me that if people just let the issue sit, it usually boils and boils until it explodes and then no one is happy because they have their own mess to clean up. If they had only been honest and dealt with the problem before it got out of hand, it would be so nice."

She nodded listening, "It's easy to be romantic about the idea of love when you've never experienced the kind of love you theorize about. Ideally, thats what love should be, but as is proof, it certainly isn't always. But wouldn't it be nice if it was?" She gave a lopsided little smile and a shrug as if to say, 'thats how life goes.'

A bit distracted by the butterfly nearby, "They do juuuust that. And whatever happens, happens. What idiots." As he let out a tired sigh before reverting his attention back to the mare.

"It would be.." As he nodded in agreement. "But than again.. Some of us don't really theorize about love." Kail certainly didn't really care for love or not. It would be nice but he didn't need it necessarily.

"I don't usually dwell too much on love.. If at all. I just avoid it all together." As he gave her a small smile. "I think it causes too much problems as it is~" Whilst he heard of the happiness that love brought, He didn't particularly care for what trouble love brought either.

The mare smiled and nodded, "It's everyone's perogative to seek or evade love as they choose. Not everyone is meant to fall deeply in love I think, there are things that can drive a person further than a love of another. Perhaps the desire for adventure, or the pursuit of a dream. These things can be just as powerful, if not moreso, that the desires of the heart." She shrugged again.

"I neither seek love, nor do I run from it, I would rather take life as an adventure, see what life decides to deal me. You can't see the future, and I'd rather not know mine. Some fillies spend their entire childhoods envisioning a perfect mate only to be disappointed as mares, I'd rather expect nothing, and live happily."

Surprised at K'jatu's decisions, "Wow." Kail mused. "You seem to be quite knowledgable on the subject.." He said, as he tilted his head. "Are you into philosophy by any chance?" He asked, seriously while only half-joking with her. If K'jatu was a teacher or somewhat related, She would be a very very good one. Many would consider her quite wise for her age.

"Your a sensible mare.." He said, "But I'm sure you know that." He shifted his weight from one sdie to another. "Sometimes.. It makes me think. It's possible that we could actually be a couple. Seeing as how these two soquilis are so similar, that they are a perfect match for eachother." As kail mimicked what society often said of such soquilis.

"But than, I fear our personalities would collide I fear." His gaze locked onto hers, but he only seemed to be teasing or toying with her. The expression on his face appeared to be quite amused however at the thought.

K'jatu smiled, "I really don't think I am knowledgeable, merely think too much for my own good. If there is ethos to an issue, or a greater problem to ponder, I will spend hours in my head debating it from both sides. If people care to listen, or debate and question with me, I can only say that I am priveledged to be savvy to their thoughts they share. Always question, always push the boundaries of what you know, what people tell you. You have to find your own truth."

She again smiled, "people might indeed say it would be a smart match. But love isnt just about what other people see or think, its about whether or not the core truth of the individuals can coexist and grow. A mating, without the potential for growth is a stagnant relationship, and will fail eventually. Sometimes the best managed gardens cannot compare with the life and vitality of wildflowers. Even the best matches cannot compare to the spontaneous joy that finding a soul that fits with yours will bring."

"Uh.. I think you lost me awhile back?" As he gave her a cheerful grin. "Not to offend, I mean.." His voice trailing off, wondering how he would explain it to her without offending her. Maybe he should have just pretended he was listening? But if she knew that, she would probably be mad at him. It was better to admit the truth~

"I guess I'm not too good with the staff?" His voice apologetic. "Sorry." His gaze wandering away from hers to somewhere on the sea. A guilty look remained on his face however.
