1. Your name 切人(キリト)ki-ri-to smile
2. What level you feel comfortable teaching at (introductory, beginner, intermediate, advanced) Beginner to some advanced. It would be nice if you already know hiragana and katakana and are capable of typing them on your computer, but not strictly required. If you do not know them they will be the first thing we study -- I teach in romaji as little as possible.
3. Your preferred means of communication (gaia messages/email/messenger of choice) I prefer instant messenger mostly; I usually use AIM but I am very flexible and will happily switch to anything where we can type Japanese. Please get in touch with me over PM first so we can decide what service we will use, etc. I will also accept general questions over PM or email. I will not teach over PM -- there's not enough space in my inbox!!
4. Maybe even the hours you are usually online (try to adjust them to Pacific Standard Time, just to make it easier) so you can get paired up with someone who will actually be online the same time as you. I'm on throughout the day, just about every day. Especially after 2:30 or so CST.
And just so you know: I'm seeking students who are serious about Japanese! People who just want to do this once in a while for fun and give up easily need not apply!
Not accepting students right now, sorry. If you have Japanese questions, feel free to PM me or post them here on the JSG and I will answer as best I can smile

1. Robert ロバート 2. Beginner to Intermediate (500 Kanji.) As others stated I DO NOT use romaji, hiragana/katakana is the absolute beginning step we will start with. I will be more than happy to help you setup your Japanese input. 3. Anything with unicode support, send a pm on gaia and we'll go from there. 4. Usually nights (6pm CST / 4PST to 11pmCST / 9pmPST) / weekends. Getting towards the end of the semester so time may be limited until summer. I hope to keep up my Japanese over summer though so it'll be great practice for both of us.
PS: If it looks familiar it's because I'm dumb and didn't precisely read the threads -_- But I guess they say a sense of humility is a good thing time to time.
Currently 1 student. Plenty of room for more.

Name: クリス Chris
I CAN teach anywhere from basic to somewhere between intermediate and advanced, but I would like to teach students have have their kana (hiragana and katakana) down pat, but be willing to work with students that are close to finishing learning all that. As far as I am willing to teach/converse with, my level truly is somewhere between JLPT 3 and 2 (I'm a lazy b*****d and don't want to push lots of kanji on myself now, so I'm taking 3, when I should be taking 2). So, in a nutshell, Slightly basic to very intermediate.
Gaia messages are fine, but not entirely sure if they can produce Japanese script. If you want (after lessons start), I can give my AIM/MSN out.
I'm in Japan now, so all my calculations are -13 hours (EST in a daylight savings zone) + -3 hours (PST) time, so in essence -16 hours. So, -10 hours (ahead) This means....
8PM-12PM (PST) 11PM-2PM (EST) usually. I'm a night person usually, so I have wide hours sometimes. But, school is starting up so the hours may be adjusted on school days.
On usually between 5PM and 12AM EST time.
よろしくお願いします!
Currently busy with college, might start back up again next spring/summer. Have any questions relating to Japanese culture, language, and other questions and you can contact me through PMs here. More than likely if you have a culture or language question I can answer it in the appropriate thread.
Now available to help people again.

((Okay, this post is kinda belated but still...)) 1. What you can call me: Kuroki Akira ~
2. Levels I teach: Introductory: Yes. Although, I prefer if you at least know how to read hiragana and katakana fluently. It would help if you knew how to/are able to write in Japanese on the computer.
Beginner: Yes. Here, I would teach basic and FORMAL sentence structure and helpful vocabulary to introduce yourself, ask for things, directions, house, and outside activities too.
Intermediate: Yes. Here are the students who know ます・Fomal already. If you need help with plain form and more out there vocabulary, with advanced lessons in particles, here's the place.
Advanced:...Not yet. Although I'm pretty good at Japanese, I'm not this fluent. Yet... stare
3. Your preferred means of communication: Gaia's fine. PM me or type in a sub forum if there's one, fine.
4. PST: Umm...I'm saying 4~7 pm.
* Please be on at least twice a week (if more, that would be awesome~), and be ready to actually learn something! whee

1. Your name ジョナサン (Jonathan) 2. What level you feel comfortable teaching at I can teach the basics of hiragana and katakana, as well as a few useful phrases. However, these will all be written in hiragana and katakana, as my Japanese is beginner at best (I'm not looking for a teacher because I'll be taking more Japanese classes in the fall). I know only a few kanji. 3. Your preferred means of communication Whatever works for the student works for me. Preferably AIM, but I am flexible. 4. Maybe even the hours you are usually online I'll be available come July, and will be available until the end of August, Monday to Fridays, from 8pm to 10pm CST. If a student is assigned to me (or however it works) I will expect them to be online for at least 1 hour 3 times a week, or 1.5 hours 2 times a week. I will also expect them to commit to at least 3 hours of practice outside of lessons (oh yes, I am strict).

Hello my name is Lilly.
I've been studying Japanese for 2 years and I was in Japan for 9 months and just got back in May.I guess I want to do this because I don't have many chances to use it and boredom since it IS summer.
I will only help/have conversation with people serious about learning Japanese. You should probably know some Kanji so if you can't read words like 美容院, 病気 and 元気 then maybe this won't be good for you. I'm willing to cut some slack though by using Hiragana for Kanji you can't read.
I dunno just hit me with a PM or something and I'll see how this goes.
以上です。

1. Hi my name is Aaron. I'm half Japanese.
2. I'm comfortable teaching from introductory-intermediate. I may have trouble with kanji, but I'll try my best. Also, grammar is not my strong point since I am a fluent speaker, meaning I grew up speaking it. Grammar was never actually taught to me.
3. Any communication is fine. But speaking is the best way to learn. It helps people to learn grammar faster. Also accent is a big problem with foreigners too.
4. I live in Chicago, so it's Central Time. My hours are pretty flexible right now. But when college starts again, I won''t have consistent time schedules.
Other things:
My first language I learned was Japanese. I am half Japanese and I lived in Japan for about 8 years. Even though I lived there, I went to an American school. I can speak fluent Japanese, but when it comes to writing it, I pretty much have some problems. My worst problems are kanji and grammar. I can read a lot of kanji, mostly elementary, but I cant really explain grammar very well. I will do some research myself and come up with lesson plans.
I also was an assistant teacher for Japanese in college: Since there was a textbook, it was easy to make lessons out of it.
I will never force u to buy anything. Everything I say to buy is only opinion.
I would also love to just have a conversation too.
