The Hurricane part 1
Strange weather

It was bright and sunny but there was an odd humidity that had begun to creep in and hung in the air. Dragon's flew strong and fast in the bright sky overhead. Some sat on the high cliffs and ate the heard beasts. It was unusually quiet through the Weyr. Slowly a few clouds began to appear in the sky... those little clouds would become much more sinister in the next few days. Not one single Weyr folk paid the clouds any mind.

Three little flits circled around a girl and her dragon, one gold, one bronze and the other brown, chirping and chasing each other happily in the bright sunlight not apparent to be bothered by the existing humidity.

A girl of 18 turns stood over her brown dragonet carefully cleaning every inch of the little dragon with loving care. She was using a rather bristly brush, Ilorith's favorite and generously poured the sweetsand over him. Orana smiled as she took great care in getting some of the more sensitive and hard to clean places on his brown hide-covered body. Ilorith had been shedding quite a bit and his skin flaked often no matter how often she cleaned and oiled him he always seemed to be itchy again after a few hours.

Is that better love? she asked her brown.

Yes mine, replied the dragon gently pushing his head into her hands showing her it felt just fine. My tail is itchy mine.

Thank you, she replied with a loving smile. Orana then proceeded to his tail.

Orana continued with cleaning the large dragon in the shallows of the Weyr bowl. Orana never complained as much as the other candidate on how large her dragon was growing she was used to plenty of work. This was just lots of work of a different kind. Orana finished cleaning her not so small dragonet and grinned.

All done love. She told him, Now for oil

The dragonet gave content and approving nod of his wedge shaped head then soaked him to get the sweetsand off. Ilorith waddled to the shore and out of the shallows and allowed the sun to soak into his brown hide.

Picking up the bucket of scrubs and sweetsand Orana followed and placed them on a rock. Beside them on the ground were the tools and the bucket of oil, she never had them mixed up. Orana picked up the bucket of oil and walked over to Ilorith. She set it down beside him and applied the oil to her own hands before placing them on his side as she began to rub it into his brown hide.

A deep contented sound emanated from within the young dragon’s throat.

Her hands moved in and out of his wing ridges skillfully. Orana had become quite adept at this, washing and oiling her dragonet a few million times in the past few months. Orana continued moving her hands across his brown hide and covering her hands with more oil. Things slowly through the day had become far more humid than Orana was used to. She looked skyward while she continued oiling the fairly large dragonet. Fluffy white clouds covered the sky, more than what was there before. The sun occasionally was blotted out as a cloud passed over. Further off the clouds were darker and far denser. The dragons would be grounded… those clouds seemed ominous. Orana thought quietly.

It might rain dear heart, she told Ilorith as she hastened herself on her oiling job. She should probably hurry and get Ilorith inside before the rain started she didn't like how the far off clouds looked and Orana was worried.

The golden queen flit Malathan landed on a rock not to far a way and chirped concered, she felt he weather change coming. It bothered her. Malathan was uncomfortable with the clouds and the humidity. Malathan opened her dainty wings and flew off the rock. She circled around again and signaled the other two to follow her and returned to Orana and Ilorith’s weyr. Ithean and Varlen followed with the same feeling.

The little one’s are worried mine, Ilorith told Orana It will rain he confirmed feeling his riders distress

That’s what I am worried about, Orana said looking back to her dragon. She hurried, maybe this feeling of hers might just be stupid but still. Orana finished oiling her handsome dragonet, Let's go love Orana said quickly rinsing her hands in the pool and gathering her two buckets. Time to return to the room. Orana was sure she had some inside chores to do.

Ilorith nodded pleased to be finally cleaned and fully oiled he followed his rider back to their weyr. The dragon continued to keep an eye on the sky as the wind picked up slightly and the clouds came closer.

Thick dark clouds hovered over the Weyr latter that evening and the humidity level was quite high. By now all the dragons had stopped flying in the air and were grounded. Latter that evening the rains began, and continued on and off heavily.

(A random in thread RP sometime after the Hurricane between myself an Naree(Orana, Ilorth & N'tren, Datiath)

Naree
*makes random post to see what happens*

Datiath sat on the banks of the lake, sunning himself after finishing hunting. He was a full grown bronze now and made sure that those others knew it. His first set of lids were down and blue-green faceted eyes whirled underneath. Beside him sat a half-grown boy with a piece of wood and small sharp knife.

"I don't know why I bother, Dat. I am no good at this stuff. My older brother and father had hands for creating something out of nothing. Nice buck you took down." The boy, a bronze rider named N'tren spoke up to his dragon.

I came from my egg. Does that count? The bronze crooned with love.

N'tren laughed. "I suppose it counts for something. I wonder who else is out at the lake today. See anyone we know?"

Ice_Dragon_Demon
((*Really Rusty* mmm I'm not sure how large the dragon would have grown either))

Nearby placing a gentle hand on Ilorith's high shoulder Orana grinned "Hey how bout we head to the lake Dear one?" she asked of her closest companion he could sun himself on the beach of the lake the sands there would be warm. Smiling she noticed three mischevious flits zipping this way and that playing in the sunlight.

With a yawn the large brown rose; still only half of his full size. Turning his large wedge shaped head he gave a draconic smile. Yes that would be a thoughthe replied in his deep rumbling voice. He could catch some fish while he was at it. Opening his no longer small wings he lifted up into the air and began to fly toward the lake.

Running on the ground underneath the brilliant brown dragon Orana was joined by her three flits. "Well hello little dear ones." Orana's scarf trailed behind her as she ran after quickly.

"Anyone there?" she asked her Ilorith

The brown gave a grunt then responded Yes, Bronze Datiath and his rider N'tren

Naree
Brown Ilorith and Orana are arriving. Datiath replied lazily. Hail Ilorith.

N'tren rolled his eyes at his dragon's change in attitude. He was definitely acting every bit of a bronze just come to age. Getting up slowly, he dusted himself off. He had only met Orana once or twice in the Weyr. She was friends with some of the other riders he knew. "Hey there, brown rider."

Ice_Dragon_Demon
Orana was clearly Older than N'tren but still was polite to almost everyone she met with a few exceptions. Orana gave a smile " We've been quite well thank you N'tren," she said. "and Ilorith is growing at an extraordinary pace as they all seem to." she watched Ilorith head to the sands of the beach for a moment before turning back to N'tren "how about you?" she asked.

There has been no scarcity of food do hunting as been quite fine as of late Ilorith replied taking the other dragon's advice and settling in the warm sands comfortably. The sands are warm Ilorith agreed.

(Thats fine Naree heart )

Naree
"I think I am even better now that I am of age to ride Threadfalls. Of course, I am in no hurry to get out there and risk my first injury but I can't wait to prove how valiant Datiath will be in the skies." N'tren grinned, flashing bright white teeth. "As for around here, not too bad. Tis slow but slow means I have more time to practice."

And he held up his small knife and misshaped piece of wood.

A buck is much better than the fish, my beloved tried to feed me. The sands near the water are were I prefer to sleep. Datiath yawned, showing his great teeth and mawl. A zip of bronze appeared above his head and began scolding him.

"Splotch, my little fellow." N'tren responded. "Come here, silly."

Ice_Dragon_Demon

Orana grinned at his enthusiasm matching her own. She couldn't wait to get out there either. Course she still had to wait for her handsome brown to reach his full size. "Of course," she agreed knowingly every lesson she had gone through she devoured the information and tired her best hoping it would speed up the process and quite often spent her spare time practicing.

“I too am also excited,” she said, "To fly together with my Ilorith searing threads."

Orana noticed the small mishapen piece of wood was he carving? "Whats that?" she asked.

Flying around Ilorith's head Malathan, Ithean and Varlen before getting an irritated snort from the great brown.

Orana sighed "Leave Ilorith alone you know better" she scolded them lightly. Malathan gave a chirp not taking kindly to being ignored by Orana earlier.

"Oh come here." she said letting the small queen sit on her shoulder “Splotch is a handsome little Flit” Orana smiled

Ilorith silently agreed laying in the sands. He snorted again at the two flits still pestering him before relaxing in the warmth of the sands. The Day is good and sands are warm he muttered sleepily

Naree
"Um..." N'tren laughed embarrassedly. "It was supposed to be a canine. But it hasn't quite worked out yet."

Splotch landed on N'tren shoulder and chirped politely at Orana. He also made a point of chittering to the other flits near him. Then he promptly began cleaning he front talon with an intensity that made the bronze rider chuckle. "That is Splotch for you. Single minded. He should be leaving me soon. The clutch he sired is supposed to be hatching any time now. It was just before the hurricane."

Mentioning his clutch brought the bronze back slightly. He chirped and thought of Beauty.

"Nope. They have been busy, you know that."

"How are you doing in your lessons," N'tren changed subject. "It seemed like we were helping in the weyrling class forever because I was only fourteen turns when I Impressed Datiath."

Listening to my love chatter makes me sleepy. He never says anything of interest. Datiath replied to Ilorith.

Ice_Dragon_Demon

((Sorry it took so long sweatdrop ))

Orana looked at the carving more carefully "It does resemble a canine a bit" she said motioning to the muzzle and its overall shape. It was better than she could do that was for sure. She was able to bend metal and make flamethrowers better than she could carve.

"It's a pleasure Splotch and congratulations on your clutch." Orana smiled extending her hand toward the bronze flit to stroke it's eye ridge she looked to N'tren "May I?" she inquired.

Malathan chirped once in return as though introducing herself while a barrage of chirps came from the brown and bronze flits.

"Good." Orana replied. Moving her other leather gloved hand through her curly brown hair she gave a nod "They are exhausting at times" she said then continued "They works us hard but it's worth every moment because of what's to come."

Giving a lazy nod the brown shifted in the beach sands. sometimes the conversation has something of interest the brown replied dozing just not this time.

Naree

Splotch chirped and straightened up more at the praise. He missed Beauty and her owner. Caleten was always giving him nice tidbits. He leaned his head into Orana's hand and began to rub against it.

N'ten nodded at he comments and set the wood and carving tools down. Stretching out he looked over the lake and grinned. "Definately not one of my better attempts. I am MUCH better at cooking than carving... Unless I am carving meat."

Datiath nodded and gave an odd rumble. Sometimes I listen. I listen to other dragons. And sometimes I listen to my rider's friends.

"So how are lessons going? Do you think you will be ready to join a wing soon?"

Ice_Dragon_Demon

Orana smiled gently stroking the little bronze "You should return to you clutch and care for it as N'tren has told you," she said softly to the little flit patting it's head gently once more before pulling her hand away.

"Well said N'tren." The former smith laughed a bit "My better talents lie in metal work though even those have gotten a bit rusty." Orana smiled lovingly at her dozing brown a moment before N'tren asked about their lessons.

"Our lessons go well." she told him "Ilorith and I believe we are ready for the task, though we aren’t the one's to make that final judgment, If we are not chosen to join a wing then we shall continue until the weyrlingmaster finds us fit." She finished with determination in her voice.

Ilorith yawned again raising his head gave a nod of agreement to Orana. You and I are Ready Mine he agreed returning his attention to Datiath and laying his wedge shaped head comfortably in the sand. Today is a good day he rumbled.
