Moranis seemed to always be running. With new orders of dye coming in from the north and the season moving into much hotter weather, he was doing everything he could to help his father out.

And soon, he would be walking the tables. His father had insisted he waited until he was more age appropriate and honestly, Moranis did not care. So much was happening to keep him busy that he rarely got a chance to see any of his friends. Though he did have a chance to attend the last hatching and he was now able to help with the Thread ground crew.

Stopping in the open courtyard, the teen allowed himself a moment to soak in the sun.

Orana walked into the weaver's hall and began to wander, she had hardly left her dragonets side the past few months and he had been growing massive, but her cloths were begining to wear sadly. She had a letter for any of the weavers who would make her new cloths. Orana looked around, it seemed no one was in the hall ways. Where should she go? Orana wondered looking around again.

The brown rider found herself in the court yard and gazed around once more. "Hello?" Orana directed it toward the only other one there. "Um I'm Looking for a weaver" she said slightly embarrassed. Her cloths were quite durable for her being a smith and because of that she wasn't often around this hold.

Orana looked at the boy before her. "I'm Orana" she smiled.

Moranis startled out of his own little world to look at the girl who was introducing herself. She looked vaguely familiar as she smiled. Turning his head to one side, he studied her for a moment before responding.

"My name's Moranis. And as far as a weaver goes, throw a rock. You are bound to hit one." He teased her a little bit hoping she would lighten up.

"If you are looking for a weaver to make you some clothes, mostly everyone is in class or out for the day. I can see if I can lead you to find someone... Any particular clothing or colors needed?" He started to move towards the main entrance of the Weaver Hall.

Orana noted he hd been within his own mind "Pleasure Moranis." Orana repied smiling. She laughed at his humor. "I suppose so," she said with a laugh "I don't come around here often." she explained and then nodded.

"Yes" she smiled "I'm looking for some new cloths made, and a riding outfit for latter." She added after "I was a journywoman Smith for a while" she grinned. She had always been dirty and never wore a dress, alway tomboyish attire.

"Everyone in class would explain why I couldn't find anyone."

"Well, normally weavers wait until a gather to show their wares. I am sure that we can find someone to beg clothes off of..." His eyes fanced merrily as he walked through the main doors.

It was quiet in the halls though murmurs and occassional shouts could be heard from behind some doors. He obviously knew his way around the Weaver Hall and paid no mind to any one else around him.

"I can take you to the store rooms. From there, you can speak to one of the girls about going through and seeing if there is anything to fit you. Though, for custom made leathers, you might want to find a senior journeyman or perhaps a Master. You a dragon rider?"

Orana nodded "I see, thank you Moranis." she smiled following quickly after. Orana looked around the halls trying to memorize the layout so she wouldn't get lost, and be able to find some one faster in the currently quiet halls. Orana didn't doubt that when class was out this place was quite filled with life and the halls full.

Moranis seemed quite at home here which was a good thing. Some of the apprentices she had seen and met were unhappy; Orana never asked why though.

Orana nodded and listened "Thank you," she said again "I will keep that in mind for I am looking to have something custom made." Orana told him. Orana was about to answer his other question when she heard something.

A large golden flit chirping without warning came zipping through the halls followed by a bronze and then a brown. Orana looked behind her and blinked, she had tried to enforce with her mind that they were to stay with Ilorith.

"Malathan, Ithean, Varlen!" Orana said with surprise then a sigh soon followed.

Apparently they didn't get the message. The little gold immediately went to sit on Orana's shoulder and cooed for Orana to scatch her, the other two just flew above.

"Sorry about them." she apologized on behalf of the troublemaking flits, nonetheless the loved her three little firelizards. Orana looked up at the two and projected images to them to return to the dozing hatchling. Varlan went immediately while Ithean circled around Orana and the golden queen a few times before reluctantly leaving. Orana scratched Malathan's eye ridge then turned back to Moranis.

"About your question, the answer is yes. I am Orana Rider to Brown Ilorith."

Moranis snapped his fingers. "That is where I saw you at! You were on the sands at the last hatching! Well congradulations, brown rider!"

The building did not have too many twists or turns by design. And soon enough, they came to a window carved into the stone next to a large door. It was like a small store within the Hall. On a board tacked next to the window was a list of weavers currently accepting contracts. On the other side, a list of clothing and prices.

"Here we are! And don't worry about your trio. This place is full enough with flits. Though, most are probably sleeping on the roofs or with their owners. My father has a brown."

The worker on duty was a bored looking man in his 30th decade. His dark brown hair was begining to thin and recede back. His eyes looked tired and his hands were scarred from weaving tears and dye burns.

"Help you?"

Orana smiled, she still wasn't quite used to that everyone suddenly knowing her. Before she was just another smith in the Weyr. "Thank you very much Moranis." she said kindly.

the new brown rider followed the young weaver around and noted the board and a few other landmarks within the halls. Orana quickly read over the prices and the list of weavers.

She laughed slightly. Flits did enjoy their sun bathing it wasn't a suprise either. It was just hers bothering everyone she was worried about. Malathan gave a little chirp to remind Orana she was still there. Orana smiled at the little flit. Orana just nodded "Of course I should have known," she said following him into the weaver's room.

A middle aged man sat amongst a pile of cloths, dyes and leathers.

"Yes please." she said with a smile. Orana stepped forward, "Could I bother you to make myself some clothes."

Nodding in response, Moranis watched as her flits danced around and interacted with each other. Maybe someday he would have one of his own... Or a dragon! But he didn't dare share that dream with his father.

He stood back as she read the board and then replied to the weaver in front of them. Moranis would make sure she wasn't taken advantage of... The Weaver hall owed much to the Weyr.

The man looked over the girl and then looked at Moranis. The boy was always helping others. Yawning, he pointed to the board. "I do not make clothing, I set up the contracts. You pick a weaver and set up a price. We draw the contract and you get the clothes. Anything in particular you need?"

Orana nodded slightly embarrassed, she hadn't done this for quite some time, she never had a need to. Orana had briefly looked over the list. "Just some durable working cloths and a riding outfit." She told him honestly. But since he was rather grumpy she should hurry and get this contract finished, he seemed not to like it here.

"How about the Masterweaver Emoraan." Orana said and wrote her price down in weyrmarks. A good price it was indeed, and not breaking her horribly either. Fair enough she hoped.

"That enough?" she asked the man that sat before her.

The man hurumphed slightly and tried not to roll his eyes. She obviously did not understand what was going on or who the MasterWeaver Emoraan was... He looked over at Moranis who did not meet his eyes. The young whelp almost seemed to be enjoying this.

"MasterWeaver Emoraan is the MasterWeaver for the whole WeaverHall. He does not take small jobs like this at all. He handles the Lords and Ladies from around the area and of course, the Weyrwoman and Weyrleader. How about you choose someone like Shaylaine? She is more to your task..."

Moranis stepped up and shook his head. "Don't choose her! Her dresses are fine but her other garments are not to be trusted. Now if you set up a contract with Bidia or Sinegel, then you will get good clothes and a decent riding outfit."

The teen frowned at the man in front of them. "You do not have to be so sour, Enerst. She is a new rider and new to the hall. As for the MasterWeaver, his business is his own."

"What are you going to do? Go running to your da?" The man sneered but obviously paled beneath his tan. Taking a piece of parchment and a quill and ink, he started to write up the contract. "So who do you want, girl?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 09, 2007 8:16 am

"My apologies." She said simply. It was true she didn't know. But that was fine, and with this little experience it would change. Orana noticed something, that man really didn't like Moranis. She wondered why. Orana might ask a little latter.

Orana was about to agree until Moranis stepped up. "Thank you" she smiled kindly "Brida then." Orana looked to the man who was setting up the contract. Earnest? So that was his name. Well he wasn't very nice. But she was at least glad Moranis was around... Or things could have gotten much worse.

"I will request Brida and I offer my origonal amount." She told the man. "And you could be a little nicer." she added. "But I thank you for your trouble." she offered politely.

Moranis frowned as the man's attitude but did not persue it as Enerst settled down and began to write the contract. What she offered was a little more than what Bidia was used to getting paid but it did good to have a weaver on your side, especially when you needed clothing.

Leaning back against the wall, Moranis merely nodded as he read over the contract. "There is no need to tell the MasterWeaver this time, I am sure. Just a case of the heat and being on duty for too long, I am sure... When does the next come on?"

The man continued to write the contract. He spoke once during the writing, "BIDIA..." and then went back to setting the fees and such. Finally, he had three contracts written. One for the girl, one for the weaver, and one for the master. Kept things neat that way. "Please read over and sign at the bottom. Juyler is on next candlemark."

Moranis thought for a moment. Juyler would be a little more pleasant. And when the signing was done, maybe he could escort the rider to the kitchens. If her dragon was not getting too worried.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 09, 2007 10:33 pm

Orana smiled as he wrote. "Thank you" she said politely again taking the contract and re reading it a few times before signing at the bottom as instructed. This was not the most pleasant trip she had taken but it had to be done. Maybe Brida would be kinder as well since Moranis has suggested her. She was glad he was around; she might have gotten herself into more trouble if he wasn't.

Moranis took the contracts to the MasterWeaver? Orana wondered how he knew him. She herself hadn't met the MasterWeaver nor had she asked who Moranis's father was. Orana was still clueless in that sense.

Orana thanked him once more for his trouble and left. Most would wonder why she even bothered being polite to some one so rude. That man had given Orana a slight headache, but it couldn’t be helped. Orana had been slightly embarrassed talking to him, but it was done. No reason to dwell on it anymore.

Are you done yet mine? came a soft yet strong voice cutting into her thoughts.

I am finished love. She replied to her dragon a soft smile appearing on her face from the sound of his voice in her thoughts. Orana stopped walking outside the door.

You seem agitated mine, Ilorith said, Is something wrong?

No, things have been finished and I’ll soon return my Ilorith. Orana gently stroked the golden flit sitting delicately upon her shoulder. Have Ithean and Varlan returned? She asked

They have, he replied simply, They woke me.

Well then you should go back to sleep dearheart. She told her brown. He replied and returned to his intrupted slumber.

Orana turned to Moranis outside the doorway. "Thank you." she smiled kindly "You were most helpful." She was truly greatful. Things most likely would have turned out differently had she been alone.

Moranis waved her off and watched her face change when she spoke, he supposed, to her dragon. Deep down, he had wished he had Impressed but he was pretty sure that his life was with the WeaverHall...

"Not a problem. Enerst can be sour but he does work hard... Do you have to leave now?" Moranis asked her.
