I like them both... french horn and trombone have my vote for brass, but bass clarinet, alto sax, bassoon, heck ALL of the woodwinds.. so I am partial towards woodwinds.. sorry, brass.. I LOVE 'BONERS AND F HORNS THOUGH!! heart heart

I love drum and bugle corps. so I'd say brass, or percussion. I'm just not a fan of the woodwind sound in a marching band. mabey the sax.that would be it though. no offence here guys. that is just my personal opinion.

[TheJudged] Actually, it's funny you mentioned this. In one of the commercials the band made for Varsity Show, we spoofed the election, and asked people to choose which section will be head section. They had the woodwinds and brass together. They sounded quite nice. then they put them to a "test". They sprayed water. The woodwinds ran, but the brass stayed and played strong. then the percussion section was playing some awesome cadence, but when we got sprayed with water everyone took off their drums and ran around xd I found it quite funny xP Because that's exactly what our drumsection would do. Then, if you've ever sen the Levi's Jeans commercial, where he takes the jeans off the manakin, and it follows him. Well, one of our teachers is a certified mime, and has a mime manakin in her room. So we used that, and switched jeans with the band uniforms. We even had the same song playing xd Varsity Show is tomorrow night, It's gonna be bloody awesome ^__^ whoa that's hilarious xd heheh i watched that commercial today.. lol

I play Bass Clarinet...But Brass doesn't have buy many reeds...So it's cheaper. And they don't get screwed up in the rain. Like the pads on us woodwinds go bad and it sucks.
But the advantages for woodwinds, if you know how to play it, it sounds really good. There is also more keys which makes it so you don't have to tighten/loosen embrasure when you want to change pitch.

woodwinds rock...plus...theres more of them in any given band than a brass line...the Udub has a basketball court length line of just piccolos...same for the claris, and same for three types of saxophones...then just two lines of brass...tah-ha.

I play baritone/ Euphonium and used to play the trombone.
BUT I LIKE Brass cuz... I just do. And like yeah! >< naah, brass is awesome but so is woodwinds n' all. They can be both good in their own ways. >< I cant wait till marching band next year! W00T!
