Chloe entered Canalave after a bit, making her way past the Pokecenter. She located a map, finding her way to the gym. She considered Byron's reputation for a bit, deciding which Pokemon she'd use. Deciding she'd just wing it, Chloe grinned, entering the gym.
"Hello?" she called, "I'd like to challenge Byron for the Minebadge!" she called, entering the doors and making her way to the arena.

Chloe grinned. She hadn't brought Kaze along, but definitely wasn't regretting it. She knew this would be a tough fight, and that only made it more exciting.
"Alright, Mika, I'm relying on you for this round!" Chloe called, summoning the Flygon to the arena to face off against the Bronzor.
Mikami emerged, letting out an excited cry as he dove at the Bronzor, swooping overhead circling, eager to start the fight.
"Begin with a Fire Blast!" Chloe ordered, calling up to the dragon, who nodded, dive-bombing suddenly as he reeled, sending an intense blast of flames at the Bronzor. The steel-type let out a screeching protest, as the metal of its body heated up, unbearable.

Byron shook his head, "We'll have to take it careful with this one," he instructed, calling to the Bronzor.
"Use a Hypnosis. Put that hyper dragon to rest!" he demanded. The Bronzor let out a wave of psychic energy that surrounded Mikami in a bubble. The Flygon screeched, flailing wildly, however it was no use. A split second later the dragon fell from the sky, crashing to the arena floor, sound asleep.
"Mikami!" Chloe shouted, worried for her partner. But the dragon didn't seem to be hurt from the fall. He was snoring soundly. Chloe sighed.
"I guess I should be thankful for your hard head," she muttered, shaking her head.
Chloe tried calling to her partner, ordering him to another Fire Blast to send the Bronzor fleeing. However, her call was unheeded, as Mikami slept on.
Byron smirked, "Well, looks like we're next. Bronzor!" he called, "Use Flash Cannon!"
Chloe had just enough time to shield her eyes, as the Bronzor suddenly flashed a brilliant light, enough to fill the whole gym with white as it fired off a beam at Mikami.

"Come on, Mika!" Chloe called, hoping to awaken her dragon. "Use Fire Blast!" she ordered her partner. Mikami shifted slightly in his sleep, before blinking, finally rousing. Chloe grinned.
"Alright! Fire Blast, stat!" she called to the dragon, who was now alert (and slightly ticked off). Mikami's wings vibrated with a buzzing energy as the Flygon rose off the gym floor once more, as he flared a blasting arc of flame at the Bronzor once more.

"Bronzor, retaliate with another Flash Cannon!" Byron called to his Pokemon. Another blinding flash lit the arena as Mikami let out a cry, faltering a bit in his wingbeats as the blast hit. Chloe looked up worriedly, but Mikami was still well enough to battle.

Mikami dove in low, slashing at the weakened steel type. The Bronzor fell, defeated.

Unaware of the Steelix's moves, Chloe nodded, motioning Mikami forward once more.
"We'll keep the same approach," she advised, as Mikami readied himself, prepared to dart at the Steelix. He was growling low, eager and itching to go.
"Fire Blast!" she called, as Mikami charged, letting out an eager cry, firing off another breathy blast of flames that circled the Steelix, roasting its hard steel shell. The snake let out a deathly roar, one that shook the rafters and caused even Chloe to wince. She definitely was glad she had her Pokemon between her and the rage of the Steelix.

Byron only smiled, which confused Chloe. However, she figured out his feelings soon enough as he called out his next attack for his Pokemon.
"Steelix," he commanded, "Introduce that Flygon with your Ice Fang..."
Chloe only had to hear "Ice" before she winced, "Watch out Mika-!!!" but it was too late. The Flygon had been circling low, taunting the Steelix. He made for an easy target as the Steelix suddenly snapped his powerful jaws around the Flygon, nearly swallowing him whole as icicles formed around the outside of his fangs. Mikami let out a crazed cry, one that brought tears to Chloe's eyes as the Flygon screeched in pain. Ice was one thing that Chloe never wanted to introduce Mikami to.
The Flygon flailed, screeching, as ice coated his wings, crackling and snapping as it did its work. Mikami finally broke free from the Steelix's jaws, limping for a few steps as he flit back into the air, trying to flee the terrible snake.

"Mikami, return!" Chloe called, unwilling to put the Flygon through that again. Mikami struggled against the red beam, wanting to continue the fight. He let out a defiant roar at the Steelix, however, Mikami was pulled back into his Pokeball.
Chloe summoned Daimon to the arena next, the Kingdra emerging, nodding resolutely to Chloe.

"Don't take him lightly," Chloe advised, as the Kingdra sized up the Steelix. Daimon nodded, rearing back on his tail as Chloe ordered him into a Hydro Pump. The Kingdra let fly a powerful blast of water at the Steelix, who roared in agitation.

"Steelix, counter with a Dragonbreath," Byron called, as the steel snake reared up, opening his massive jaws to release a fiery attack that had Daimon quick on the defensive. The Kingdra curled up, putting his scales to good use to protect him, however, as Dragon type attacks were Daimon's only weakness, the flames still did their damage to the sea dragon.

"Alright Dai, keep at it, we've almost got him," Chloe instructed, as Daimon shook off the remainder of the flames, glaring at the Steelix.
"Finish it off with a Blizzard!" Chloe called to her partner, who dropped the temperature in the gym several degrees as an arctic blast of ice and snow flared angrily, swirling around the Kingdra, before flying at the Steelix, effectively finishing off the Steel type.

"Alright, Daimon, keep an eye out, use another Hydro Pump!" Chloe called, as Diamon nodded, blasting out another arc of water at the Bastidon, weakening the massive Pokemon. The strange-looking steel type used his head to block most of the water, putting its shield-like shape to good use. The bulky Pokemon shook the water off, seeming unworried about the damage. This caused Chloe and Daimon to wonder.

Byron nodded, "You know what to do now," he instructed, motioning the massive Pokemon forward. The Bastidon nodded, growling out a laugh. The steel type inhaled, as Chloe prepared to advise Daimon to hang on. Certainly whatever the defensive Pokemon could throw at them wasn't too much for the strong Kingdra to endure.
The Bastidon roared.
Suddenly Chloe found herself falling to the floor, clasping her hands over her ears as she couldn't help the scream that fell from her lips. A screech filled the gym, as the windows rattled with the Bastidon's roar. It was a wonder that they didn't shatter. Chloe mused for only a brief moment that Byron must have put up special glass that could endure whatever it was the Bastidon was letting fly. The thought only lasted for a brief moment, however, as pain washed through her in a wave. The attack only lasted a moment, but Chloe felt drained, weak, and had more than a bit of a headache. Not to mention her ears were ringing like hell.
Daimon wasn't in too good of shape either, she realized as she wobbled to her knees, looking to her partner. The Kingdra had managed to get up, but he was shaking. Something Chloe had never seen in the whole time she had been training the dragon from a tiny Horsea.
Whatever that attack was, she did NOT want to see any of her Pokemon go through that again. EVER.

"What... what was that?" she managed, hoping Byron would give her at least that much. The gym leader merely smiled, nodding as he agreed silently to answer.
"That, my girl, was Metal Burst," he informed her. It was only then did Chloe notice that the piercing attack didn't seem to have any effect on the older man. That filled her with plenty of respect for the man. He must have trained for years to be able to endure that. Chloe herself was resisting the urge to check to see if her ears were bleeding.
Daimon shuddered, turning Chloe's attention back to the Kingdra. The dragon was in bad shape, Chloe knew how to recognize that. There was no way she'd let him finish the battle. Not with that attack in Byron's arsenal.
"Dai, return... I'm sorry," she apologized to her friend, who nodded, letting out a reassuring burble as he returned to his Pokeball.
Chloe considered her options for a moment, sizing up the Bastidon. Man, that thing was pretty much impenetrable. Its bulk made more than enough defense for it, not even taking into account that Metal Burst attack.
Byron smiled, watching Chloe think. He was interested to see what solution Chloe could come up with to solve the problem before her. If she was strong enough to beat his son, he was definitely eager to see how far she could be pushed.

Knowing that anything she threw at the Bastidon would be returned double, Chloe gulped. This was definitely a challenge. Before, she had relied on her strength to pull her through, knowing her Pokemon were tough enough to endure whatever challenges they faced.
But what if the challenge they faced was their own strength itself?
Chloe considered her current party, contemplating a bit more, before nodding to herself. She pulled a Pokeball from her belt, calling out her next choice in battle.

Byron arched a brow, definitely interested in her choice. After all, the Weavile had just a bit more than half the experience in battle as his Bastidon had.
Entreri looked to Chloe, seeking confirmation. She nodded, "This one's your fight," she confirmed, causing a toothy grin to appear on the Weavile. He could tell that this one was a tough one.
Entreri turned to the Bastidon, crouching low, wielding his sharp claws. He awaited his orders from Chloe, which came a moment later as his trainer finally managed to rise again to her feet, steeling herself as she called out in a strong a voice as she could manage.
"Focus Blast!"
Entreri snickered, darting forward with speed that was definitely impressive. The agile Weavile leaped into the air, focusing his energy between his hands as he jumped, eyes narrowing eagerly as he engaged the Bastidon.
An orb of energy crackled between his claws as he let it fly, charging in close, blasting at the monstrous Pokemon in the best spot he could find.
The joint behind the Bastidon's neck, where his face shield plate met the back plates.
Energy crackled and sizzled around the Bastidon, as Entreri leaped once more, striking blast after blast at the fortress-like Pokemon's shell. The Bastidon let out a roar, trying to stomp Entreri flat, and almost managed to succeed, as he nailed one of Entreri's tails, yanking the Weavile to a standstill as he growled, trying to free himself. Entreri yanked hard on his tail, but it wouldn't budge from under the Bastidon's foot.
Byron smirked, knowing that this battle was won. A Metal Burst from that close of range would finish off the Weavile, no problem.
The Bastidon suddenly stopped moving.
Entreri looked up, panicking for a brief moment as he allowed a brief look of fear cross his features. However, it was the Bastidon that retreated a step. "Thanks, buddy," she offered, as she recalled Entreri back to his Pokeball. Feeling a bit more confident about her battle, Chloe stood a bit straighter, calling out Cáel to face off against the Empoleon.

The Dragonite emerged from his Pokeball, landing lightly despite his bulk. Chloe offered Cáel a grin, "This guy's tough," she warned, "But I believe in you," she nodded, earning a friendly burble from Cáel, who then turned to face off against his opponent.
"We'll keep things interesting alright," Chloe reassured Byron with a nod, managing a smile.
"Cáel!" she called, the Dragonite taking flight, preparing for battle, "Use a Thunder!"
The Dragonite let out a call confirming he had heard, concentrating for a moment as static suddenly filled the gym. All of a sudden, a giant blast of lightning cracked through the air, striking the Empoleon dead on.

The steel bird bristled, prepared to counter, as Byron's eyes narrowed, "Counter with Flash Cannon!" he commanded. Empoleon agreed, charging up and firing a bright blast of energy that struck Cáel. The Dragonite reeled, righting himself a moment later.

"You alright?" Chloe asked, knowing better than to take lightly any attacks from the gym leader. Cáel nodded a moment later, prepared to strike again. Chloe let out a relieved sigh. It looked like this match would go a bit more smoothly for her.
"Alright, another Thunder!" she called to her partner in the sky, as Cáel let fly another blast of lightning at the Empoleon.

"Don't give up!" Byron commanded his partner, who nodded, shaking off the remnants of the last electrical blast, "Use Flash Cannon once more!" he ordered, as the Empoleon let fly another blast of energy at the flying dragon.

Chloe checked up on the circling Dragonite, but Cáel seemed to be doing fine. She allowed another smile, as she called out her final orders.
"Finish it off now, use one last Thunder!" she called to Cáel, who smiled, nodding silently, as he released one final blast of lightning that thundered through the gym, striking the Empoleon, and effectively putting the gym battle to a close.

Byron nodded once more, recalling the fallen Empoleon. "I can see how you beat my son now," he smiled faintly, motioning for Chloe. She approached him as he handed her the Minebadge, along with a TM. "It isn't Metal Burst, if that's what you're thinking," he laughed, seeing Chloe cringe slightly at the TM. Chloe looked up to the leader questioningly. "Its Flash Cannon," he explained, still smiling, causing Chloe to sigh with relief. She didn't want to ever run into Metal Burst again. Chloe took the items thankfully. She offered Byron a smile, "Thanks for the match," she nodded, "It definitely was a tough one."
With that, she left the gym, making her way to the Pokecenter for treatment for her party. She wanted to make sure they were all fine.
She left the Center a short while later, releasing Mikami, to make sure he was okay. The Flygon seemed to be fine, although he was a bit miffed that she had recalled him. Chloe knew he wasn't one to hold a grudge, though. Either because he was forgiving, or he lost interest in holding a grudge, she couldn't tell. But soon enough the Flygon was in his normal spirits.
Feeling a bit better, Chloe stopped by the entrance of town, waiting for Kaya and Brayden.

Chloe didn't have to wait long. Vhan came grumbling into town ahead of the two lovers, still wringing water from his scarf. After a few moments of trying, he finally released Sanya to try and use her tail flame to dry him a little. The small chimp was quick to Locate a small rainbow colored scale on the ground and chew on it though. Moments later, she released a large burp, the result being a powerful Heat Wave aimed at Vhan. SLightly crispy around the edges, the boy coughed up a bit of smoke and fell forward onto his face. At least he was dry though, right?"

Brayden followed along beside Kaya, still thinking. He was quiet for the most part, but his mind was working overtime. He knew that it wouldn't really stay a secret for long, despite his hopes for it to be. At this point, he really couldn't think of any other way to avoid it, save chopping off his hand. And that, of course, would be even more idiodic than any of Brayden's choices prior. He didn't really feel like dealing with blood-loss at the moment anyway, so he felt it a logical choice.
"I'd like to," he murmured a short bit later, nodding to himself, trying to give himself the courage.
"Just... whatever happens... don't get too angry?" he requested, more as a question than a statement. He hoped he could pass it off as his inexperience for now, leaving the tougher explanations for later.
He spotted a crispy Vhan up ahead, along with Chloe over by the center, waiting for the two of them. He managed a smile, waving to his close friend.

"Anywho, what's up?" she questioned curiously, seeing a slight change between the two. Upon closer inspection, Brayden seemed pensive, and Kaya seemed a bit nervous himself. She couldn't really put her finger on it, though.
