I think they should be blended. In today's world, it's very hard to live only on culture and the past ways. However, we shouldn't forget the past either. so while being hip and modern, people should also remember the past.

Aiko_589 Koiyuki Ganguro girls, Gothic Lolita, Kogal, all these and more have been brithed in the recent era of the Japanese, and they have began growing more accepting and welcoming of outsiders, and with almost explosive growth have began taking on and assimilating themselves into the cultures and customs of other countries. Some would say this is an important step into integrating the Japanese into the modern world, while many others see it as a degradation of, and even an insult to their own ways and culture, citing the lack of traditions practiced by the youth, and the dissapearance of the old ways of life. What I want to know is, what do the people here think of the modernization of Japanese kids, and the nation itself? Has it benefitted, or detracted since opening up to the world? Should the new ways leave the old ways behind, or should they be blended? Actually ganguro and such are dying xd And thank god that they are! Ganguro can be really scary sometimes!

I think that when it comes to cultures evolving they should not forget their past, but they should continue to go ahead. Take the best of each and apply it to the future. Blend the two. However, life doesn't always take the ideal course. Japan has adopted some not so nice things that other countries do.

I would venture to guess the ways of materialism, and not giving a crap about anyone else.
