Pluto's been given the boot, which means Xena ain't gonna be a planet any time soon.

When I first heard that they had named the 10th planet Xena and the moon around it Gabrielle, I jumped up and down for joy! I was sooooooo excited about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mrgreen heart Then I heard that those were only temporary names and I was really bummed out... crying

So does any one know if the planet Xena and her moon Gabby have been re-named or not?

When I saw an interview on this, the nicknames for the planet and moon were just those used because the names of the objects is actually something that sounds like a planet name from Stargate and they just thought it sounded cold. Officially I wouldnt expect the names to stick.

I'm sure you've all heard by now, but planet Xena is now neither a planet or named Xena. sad Its new name is Eris, but it's still a tribute to Xena. The moon was renamed Dysnomia after Eris' daughter, the spirit of lawlessness. biggrin

strawberry~thief What is this about naming planets after Xena and gabrielle? The planet had some crappy number for a name so a scientist renamed it Xena. But now the planet's official name is Eris.
