Apasionada So. We're at rehearsal for district band when I was in 8th grade.
We were in full band, except for the flutes and clarinets that were working on a percussive section in another room. The director is in teh back, helping the percussionists work out their line. We're in the Duke Ellington Ballroom at NIU. It's got this lovely hardwood floor (do take note of this fact).
With the flutes and clarinets in another room, the row that I was in was in the front. SO I'm sitting next to these three bass clarinet players who all have fairly new, shiney bass clarinets. And I have my 50-year-old clunker with no pin, just a neckstrap.
We were sitting there in silence, the percussionists in teh background when all of the sudden-
CLANG!!!!!!!
My bell slid off of the worn-out cork and hit the ballroom floor.
The other bass clarinetists just stared at me, I kind of wanted to die. But it was really funny. After the initial shock of "HOLY CRAP MY INSTRUMENT JUST FELL APART," we started laughing. Hehe, my flute's footjoint used to fall off untill I got it fixed. xD I bought it recently off of one of my friends and it's awesome, I remember all the times the footjoint used to fall in middle school, when she still owned it.

last week i broke one of the springs on my flute. its the one on the pinky key on the foot joint. well i couldnt get it fixed any time soon, so my dad decided he would "fix" it. he tied a rubber band around the key so it closes right. well it kept sliding off the key so i was trying to re tie it and my director saw me, and just looked at me like i was stupid. it was kinda funny

ever_and_a_day last week i broke one of the springs on my flute. its the one on the pinky key on the foot joint. well i couldnt get it fixed any time soon, so my dad decided he would "fix" it. he tied a rubber band around the key so it closes right. well it kept sliding off the key so i was trying to re tie it and my director saw me, and just looked at me like i was stupid. it was kinda funny Ya, you need to just go to the local music store and get that fixed, can't cost more then a dollar. O.o ; By the way, the name of the key is the E flat key.

Oh man we were at a concert. it was my holiday concert in 8th grade. we were playing a really fast song then....I lost grip on my slide and it flew off cause I hold my trombone straight and it hit our french horn player in the head and then somehow went sliding to the clarinets side of the group.
I crawled over there and I was so red so I got my slide and my BD looks over at me....the look he gave me wasn't a pretty sight but I got my trombone put back together(all this is while the band is still playing w/o a first trombone part) and afterwards a bunch of band kids were laughing so hard we were crying and couldn't breath but BD wasn't very happy with me. I got in to so much trouble

We had a violinist break a string at contest once...It wasn't exactly funny; more like stressing, but we laughed about it later. Our conductor had the most unbelievable expression when it happened.

I have a couple of stories to tell. I've got all sorts because For some reason my director could never figure out where to put the bass. First, I was in the back in between the low brass and the trumpets. The trumpets were always finding a way to make practice fun. Jake took out his mouth piece and started blowing all these different ways until he stopped and smiled. He took a big breath and blew and it sounded just like a fart. After five minutes all the trumpets were doing it. After sitting by the trumpets I was moved to the other side of low brass behind the saxes. Me and Mike(plays the Bari) would always make noises and have smart-a** comments when the band director said something. But the best thing ever were two Alto players. They would throw things into the Tuba at every rest. Once they took a shoe and said they were gonna throw it in but no one thought they would. So they took it and chucked it and it went right in. The director looked at both the sections in disbelief. Mike started laughing and fell out of his chair.

We were warming up for our concert and our alto sax player stood up to go get something and he walked through the trombone area(we emptied our spit valves) and oh my god, he slipped and fell right in front of me(not my fault) I started laughing so hard then our BD came over and helped poor Adrien up off the floor. My entire section was in hysterics for the rest of the concert proving it hard to play and laugh at the same time. Our only Alto sax player has learned to stay away from us. lol

i don't know if this is more memorable for me or what but it was funny to me and my friend!! what i remember the most is my friend, sarah, and i i at night soaping up my orchestra directors car window with 'i am ferggie, hear me roar!' and 'Orchestra class of 2005' all over his windows and everything... with the next day being the end of the year banquet. he didn't say anything in class (several of our friends did, as we got them too) but that night at the banquet we got specialized certificates for delinquency and for being Jail Birds. haha.

That sounds like it was fun. xD
At our last football game the seniors dumped a pitcher of water over our BD's head, that was awesome, we all applauded. XDD
He had to get a new cellphone, but he didn't hoard that over us.

ok so we were at school for practice and we have these concrete risers we sit on, I'm on the egde being first chair trombone...I bent down to get something(the second chair guy holding my trombone) and all of a sudden next thing I knew I was on the floor.(we're like three or four risers up) and loudly I was like "WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED???" My BD looked at me and he said to me "Nikki, you need to watch your mouth, as for what happened you obviously fell off your chair." I looked at him and my reply was "Don't tell me what to do and yeah I can see I fell off the stupid chair but how and why?" the second chair trombonist was in fits of laughter. Turns out he shoved me cause he thought it'd be funny until I fell off the risers and not just the chair

My friend jsut finished preforming and they where walking off stage.
He slipped and fell. He tripped on his own shoe.
The audience laughed...
OH and this isn't concert season, but during marchign season, my BD called us to attention.
He just got us pumped up for a great preformance and my friends footjoint fell.
It made a PLOP noise on the ground and it was great. It broke the silence and everyone just bursted out laughing! biggrin

last week another thing happened lol. we're all warming up at the beginning of the period, and the bd isn't there yet. all of a sudden this sax player gets on the podium, and we're all like "?" he goes to the first chair clarinets and starts telling them for one of them to play the first tuning note. he gets it, and then by the time the bd gets in everyone is tuning with him on the podium leading it. her face was histerical rofl

My band puts all their heart into the music so while we were playing sleighbells a coulple days ago...we were at a big holiday event for the town and we were all dancing and playing and I (having no coordination) fell over in the middle of the song cause I couldn't catch myself.....the song stopped and the whole town errupted into laughter...it was really funny!!!! lol
