Angry and still confused, Daniel was ready to try almost anything to get the man who'd spoiled his relatively comfortable home away. "They're right over here!" He ran toward the garage, where they'd stowed away all of the extra fireworks from their previous celebrations.
"I just hope that the guy learns his lesson this time, and doesn't come back." Though he might have wanted to leave had his parents have been the only thing keeping him there, he definitely didn't want to have to leave Kimo. They were friends, after all. There was no way this guy would come and ruin that.

Kimo helped Daniel pull out the fireworks, and then pointed out where the vehicle's fuel tank was, "There, that's where you want to put them....Make sure you leave out that long stem there... Take my lighter. You want to set that ablaze, then RUN over here and get some shelter... And once you're here, get that flame you've started to be much larger to set off a better reaction."
Kimo had never asked Daniel to set anything on fire from too far away, and never had he tried to get him to set something on fire he couldn't see. He knew the latter was more than likely impossible, and the former had seemed too dangerous. He knew Daniel could make a blaze already burning that much bigger and hotter though, and knew with how angry Daniel was it wouldn't take much.
"Now, Wailua, listen, if they find out I coached you in this, or had any knowledge of it at all, I'm going to be in huge trouble. You will be too, likely, but I'll be around to help soften the blow," He hadn't ever asked Daniel to do anything public, and nothing that would get him in trouble before. This would be an interesting, and probably premature, test...

Daniel began setting up the fireworks where Kimo directed him to. He knew enough about fuel and fire to know basically what would happen once he set the explosions off. "Sounds easy enough to me. Wait'll you see! It'll be so big that it could make your eyes pop!" He said, much more excited than he should have been.
"Don't worry, they won't get a single thing out of me. They'll never even know you were here." Holding the lighter in both hands, he looked upon it in amazement. Sure, he had seen such things before, but he had never actually held one, let alone turned one on.
Letting out one final angry sigh, he placed the last of the fireworks into the car. The man had brought it on himself, after all. He shouldn't have tried to take the boy away. With this thought in his mind partially justifying his actions, the Wailua tried to turn on the lighter. His first few attempts were unsuccessful, as he'd never tried before, but after about the third time, he succeeded in making a small flame. "So that's how you do it..." He put the small fire up to the string, let it catch and begin burning, and sprinted as fast as he could away from the car.

Kimo chuckled at the boy's excited comment, and mentally started preparing to draw water from the underground sources, prepping even as the boy did. He didn't exactly want to set the *house* on fire too... Or make the boy spontaneously combust. That would be a real bummer.
"Go for it, Wailua, you can do it...." It was quiet, to himself mostly.
Kimo watched, anxious, as the flame caught. This had to work... It had to... he didn't want to take any more measures than this to keep his boy safe.

From what he thought was a safe distance, Daniel hid behind a tree and stared at the already lit fuse. Brighter and hotter... He silently told the flame as it neared the end. He'd made it in time. Just before the spark reached its endpoint, the Evo managed to intensify the burning. A smirk crossed across his face as he realized just what would happen. He ducked behind the tree quickly to try to avoid the impending explosion, all the while trying to keep the flame in his thoughts.
Needless to say, the results were enormous.

Boooooom!!
Maybe it wasn't the shot that rang across the world, but it was still pretty impressive. The van jumped several feet in the air and fell down, rolling slowly over to the side, flames emitting from it's gas tank. The concrete where the car had been was bust in to pieces... And the flames lept upward onto a nearby palm tree.
Needless to say, Daniel's parents and the agent were quickly outside.
His parents were shocked, too shocked to respond, though the agent looked around slowly, eyes narrowing. He opened a cellphone and quickly got ahold of someone... Telling them...something...
When Mrs. Hooper got her wits about her, she started screaming, "DANIEL! Daniel! Oh, my baby, where is he? DAAaaniieeeell!!"

Daniel stopped breathing completely when the explosion occured. It was even bigger than he had ever imagined that it could be. When he felt it was safe, he peeked out from behind the protection of the flora. The destruction was exciting to him. He'd never been able to do that before. Though he had had the aid of the fuel, it was a moment of slight pride for him.
He glared momentarily at the agent as the trio of adults bursted out of the house to investigate the loud noise. What was he supposed to do now? The only thing that he couldn't do was tell them Kimo had been there. They wouldn't find out, he would make sure of that. He ducked behind the tree again and cracked his fingers. This wouldn't be easy, but he'd have to pull it off. He put on his best frightened, innocent child face and came out from behind the tree completely. "Mom...?" He asked quietly.

"Oh, thank goodness!" She didn't even look at his face, but ran up and coddled the boy in her arms, "You're safe, oh don't worry, Mommy's going to make it better." She didn't usually treat Daniel like he was a baby, but she was a scared mother, and scared mothers tend to do that sort of thing.
"Did you do this?" It wasn't an accusation, but a probing question from his father, "Was it an accident with your... your...abilities?"
The agent's call had been effective. Already fire patrol men and police officers were on scene, making sure the area was secure. And then there were the other men, that didn't seem to have much of a purpose, except to stand around and stare at the wreck and at the Hoopers.
The agent smiled at Daniel, not at all a monster, but looking friendly, if a little stressed.

In his mother's embrace, he became incredibly embarassed and almost wanted to yell at her to stop. He bit his lip to stop himself, though. Dangit, he wasn't good at this at all! "I'm sorry, Dad... I didn't mean to, hoenst. I tried to stop it, but I couldn't!" He said defensively, half muffled by his mother. Looking away towards the firefighters, he almost whispered. "I really didn't mean to..." He had to put on the best performance he could -but he knew that the longer he kept it up, the more he would mess up. After leaving his head turned to the firefighters, he looked back at the agent, who was smiling, of all things.
He glared angrily at the man, momentarily losing his innocent expression. Silently, he ordered the man to leave. Even if the man pretended to be serene on the outside, he was probably burning up inside. At least, that's what Daniel told himself.

Daniel's father sighed, "I think you're right," He spoke to the agent, "He can't control his powers, we need to let him get some help."
"Oh, sshhh, my poor baby," Mrs. Hooper was in tears, "I don't want to let you go, but if THIS happens...Oh, sweetheart, it's for your own good."
The agent sighed. That's right. Let the child know what they were up to and frighten him some more, or make him angry. That's exactly what they needed right now, "Hey, son, it's ok," He was still smiling, still gentle, kind to Daniel, "We know you didn't mean to, and we'll make it better for you, ok? So that you can live a normal life again." It was almost the same spiel Kimo had given him, except that this agent was almost too sugar-sweet about it, "There's no reason to be scared."
The fire was almost out now, any onlookers had already been successfully diverted. No news crew came. They had made certain of all that. But the firefighters were beginning to notice somethings about the "accident".... What were those brightly colored papers?

For some time, Daniel stayed in his mother's hug -even after they had mentioned him going away. The delayed reaction finally coming, he realized that they didn't know that he knew. "What? What are you talking about?" He looked from his mother's face to his father's, and from his father's to the agent's, as if searching for an answer. "I don't need help, okay?! Especially not from someone like him!" Luckily, he didn't have to act for this part. He was honestly angry. "He's a stranger!" He protested, pushing against his mother to try to get her to let him go.
"I don't want you to make me better! I'm not diseased or something! I'm not!" Insisting, he was starting to get scared. This wasn't how it was supposed to be going. It wasn't working. The man wasn't bolting off as Kimo had said he would. In fact, the incident served to only make the man more bent on stealing him away. "Why shouldn't I be scared? My own parents are giving up on me and want to send me away with some man I've never seen in my life!" This was turning out to be the exact opposite of what he wanted. He silently called for Kimo's help, knowing that it probably wouldn't come.
His only hope was to keep resisting. If they were going to take him, he definitely wouldn't be going without a heck of a fight.

"Oh, HONEY!" And his mother was holding and hugging and kisisng the boy, not caring about his protests. She herself was in tears, "My poor baby. I just..how can we take care of you? Oh, sweetheart."
"He's from---" His father tried explaining, but it really was quite useless with a clingy mother and protesting child. He'd explain, and his child would understand. It was for the best, he could see that. Not that he liked it, but...
In the family mess, neither adult had noticed one of the other agents coming up, a piece of something in hand, "Sir, the firefighters think it wasn't a supernatural cause." His hand was shaking as he handed it to the orginal agent.
The smile didn't leave the agent's face, "Daniel, were you trying to experiment with your powers and set off fireworks nearby?" He knew the kid wouldn't answer him, but his parents would sure catch onto it...

Daniel didn't stop fighting against his mother's attacks of love, which were stealing away most of his concentration. Though she wasn't incredibly strong, the fact that he was a little boy -much smaller than she- stopped him from escaping her grasp. "Can't you at least try?! I want to stay with you!" He continued his protests, praying silently that he'd be able to sway her to his side. It was a matter of life or death to him.
"From where?" He probed his father after finally drawing his attention away from his mother. Maybe, just maybe, he'd heard of the place before, however unknown it might be. If not, then it might be on the internet or something.
His eyes squinted at the item in the other agent's hand. Was that... A part of a firework? He cursed his luck -he'd hoped that all of the evidence would have been destroyed in the explosion. He bit his lip and turned away silently as the overly-happy agent returned. This was just getting worse and worse. Honestly, he would have preferred just being punished and in trouble for a few weeks. The explosion hadn't scared off the agent after all... What should I do?

{{OOC: Totally unedited AIM conversation...whack me repeatedly to make sure it gets fixed!))
"You did WHAT?" Mr. Hopper demanded, "Daniel, I told you not to play with the fireworks! How could you! With powers and everything. That car could have flown into the house and destroyed us."
"Tsk, you're over-reacting. Boys will be boys," the agent said, "And I think I'd want to see what cool things I could do with my powers if I had them. Eh?"
"But why would you have a lighter?" In her hugs and kisses, she'd found the lighter in his pocket. Being a mother, she would grasp anything. Oh, let her boy be a pyromanic! At least she could keep him, "Daniel, baby, if you didn't need one?"
"I bet he could make it burst just like that!" His father was furious, "What are you doing, playing with that stuff? DOn't you think things are dangerous enough with those powers of yours?"
"Now, Mr. Hopper..."
"What if he needed the lighter?" His mother was the one to want to desperately believe her boy was normal, "You said yourself that boys will be boys..."
All eyes turned to this particular boy.
"But Dad! You can't tell me that the fireworks aren't fun to watch! I just couldn't help myself, okay?" He blushed slightly, as if he was actually embarassed for playing with the fireworks. So what if he had taken them out of the garage and lit them aflame? The man deserved it. Not even his mom wanted him to go -so why was the man so intent on taking him away? Frustrated, he sighed before looking back at his mother. He hadn't noticed that she'd found the lighter he'd jammed in his pocket while running. His eyes darted between his mother and father, then between his father and the agent. Why were they all looking at him now? Sure, to begin with, he would have understood. But now...
He bit his lip again and turned away from all of their staring eyes. This was almost as bad as when his classmates had stared.
"...I used the lighter to set off the fireworks." He wasn't lying, either. He'd just helped the spark along.
"There, see! It wasn't a power!" his mother was too keen on this.
"Well, maybe he used it to help the flame get bigger, trying to get a bigger effect. How ELSE would it affect the care like it did?"
The second agent cleared his throat, "By putting the fireworks by the gas tank."
"WHAT would possess a boy to do that!?! Daniel, answer us plainly! What is wrong with you? Do you have powers or not, and WHY did you set that man's vehicle ablaze!?" akrazedone (4:11:26 PM): *flails* Between you and me... Ann is annoying.akrazedone (4:12:04 PM): *hushes* That's probably more "manager info" than I should give. Otaku Agent (4:10:11 PM): Daniel nearly pleaded with his eyes for them to accept his mother's idea. It didn't work, either. They were getting closer and closer to the truth, and it was only a few minutes afterwards. Luckily, no one thought that he had any help with it at all. He had to keep making them think he did it by himself -he'd promised.
Sniffling at his father's yelling, he turned back to the three men. "I wanted him to leave!" He screamed. "I don't want him to take me away and experiment on me or whatever he's going to do! I'd rather blow up a hundred cars than leave!" Now, he was bawling.
His father knelt down, wanting to shake the boy. "Tell. Me. Plainly.... Do you have powers to use or not? HOW did you set the other thing ablaze? All the witnesses said it was spontaneous! How did it happen? Was it you or did you use something?"
His mother had gone quiet, hugging the boy in a desperate embrace to try to shield him from the men.
Daniel tried to retreat from his father, but was blockaded by his mother. "I don't, okay! I used a lighter last time, too! They just must not have seen it! Just leave me alone!" He was scared insanely by the thought of what his father might do now. But he would have to keep trying. "I just want to stay here..." He didn't make eye contact with any of the men for fear that they might figure out that he'd been lying. Tears faling down his face, he looked to his mother for protection.
"See, no powers! It's my boy, and I don't blame him for blowing up your car! Poor child," Mrs. Hooper soothed and hugged, saying the calm things and promising the promises mothers did for their terrified young'uns.
His father let out a breath, sumping a little bit at the twin attack from mother and child. He swallowed, glad only to have something cleared, then stood to face the agent, "I'm truly sorry...."
And a new conversation continued in hushed tones.
Daniel would later find out that no charges would be pressed as long as he attended counseling sessions for as long as the psychologist deemed necessary.
