wow a lot of your guys have huge bands! my marching band in 05 was about 75 people, so we were in the 3A division of competitions. But I heard that so many freshmen are coming to my school this year for band, so we're now going to be a 4A Division... eek

As for band camp...it's the same at my school too. we're not really poor...but we're not rich either...so we have band camp at our school as well. it's fun around the end of Freshmen Band Camp cause the section leaders get to tell the Freshmen to march while looking straight. And the second we're at attention, all the upperclassmen throw water balloons at us. Then we get our revenge and have a water fight with them! buwahahaha! i love band camp lol whee

Wow that is a small band. Ours last year was a little under 400 members. We have the biggest band in the county 3nodding

Band camp isn't all that bad here. Except when the band teacher yells at us. She is so scary......... gonk

haha our teacher can't yell. he's so soft on the students and thinks he's strict hahahaha it's so entertaining cause band people have put so many pranks in the band room, and he doesn't say anything.

that's a small band...and your tradition's weirdly surprises me... sweatdrop We used to have our camp at school, until we got money i guess to go somewhere cooler. i think the heat was just the reason we're not doing it anymore at school...

well at our school there is no freshman initiation eccept that eveyone has to adopt a fresman to teach them the basics

We used to have band camp, well, before I came to the highschool anyway. I don't know why they cancelled it, either, our band is huge. :/

Our camp is at school as well. Nothing happened to me last year, so I guess there aren't any freshmen traditions, but we sing on the way to games. Not usually on the way back, since everyone is tired, but occasionally someone will try and start a song.

*snorts* Oh dear...

We don't quite have...erm, traditions. When our top band director (we have at least four xP 300 students, whatcha expect?) moved from Clovis West to teach here at Logan, he killed all the traditions. The seniors used to march with leg garters...on their arms! ROFL...Its up to the students to make traditions, and the BDs don't care...even if they know we pass around candy before and after shows. ON THE FIELD. It's legal anyway. xP

Well...we have 56 winds and our low brass sorta has a freshman intiation...thing i don't really know what it is being that i am a flute! But our freshman eupho player came back soaking wet after camp...while the rest of the low brass was dry...I wonder! I know when i was a freshman...3 years ago...the drum major threw my shoe on top of the semi...and i had to find someway to get it...so i jus asked my b/f who was a contra player to get it for me!! 3nodding

well... we've got two traditions here.

first one is straight forwards: if you are a freshmen guy in the band, you will get pantsted by an upperclassmen (probably a trumpet player)

if you are a sophomore guy in the band, you have a 90 percent chance of getting panstsed by an upperclassmen. probbaly by a trumpet

if you are a junior guy in the band, a junior guy WILL pantse you no questiosn asked

if you are a senior guy, you will probably get pansted, and the band directors will look away even if you're a section leader.

it's like the law of relativity. lol

tradition two: FRESHMEN INITIATION! *smirk*

if you're a brass fish (freshmen) you WILL be taken to talk to a section leader/ upperclassmen in the band... where they suddenly will lick their hand and slap you across the face with their sloppy hand.

repeat for woodwind freshmen

*smirk* i did it to two trumpet fish this year. haha

We have band camp at my school too.

A freshman's virginity?!

Wow, that's extreme. Do we have traditions?

Well, our drum major last year, instead of "band dismissed!" he'd yell "bag of chips!"

And we'd scream "Are they Lay's?"

I still don't get it. stare

Each year we tell the freshman to count their honor brades. The one with the odd number goes on the right. The one with the even number goes on the left. hahaha they count them everytime. hehehe

we have people picking on freshmen, like throwing a huge waterballoon fight, and we also have freshman initiation (which used to be like hazing, but since that's illegal, now they call it a 'surprise breakfast').

We don't have many traditions. we just sorta go with it. we can't have froshie things anymore, even if we wanted too sad we have almost 200 altogether, bout 160 i think for marching. and i wish we had a band camp

(when i was a soph they started another band, just froshies and they don't do field shows, (which in my opinion sux b/c if your going to march parades, you might as well do field shows. also now a thrid of the band kids that march are clueless, they percentage used to be lower))
