Oh, and last night I was thinking about the Egypt arc and how all those people are throwing rocks at Kisara because she looks different, and I was thinking,
"Why are you mad at HER for being different? I mean, look at your own Pharaoh, for crying out loud! I mean, he has THREE COLORED HAIR that sticks up in spikes and his EYES are PURPLE!!! That's not fair at all! And Priest Seto has BLUE EYES but you don't care!"
(just for the record, I'm not Atem/Seto-bashing. I like them 3nodding )

Very true though. They don't like Her because She has light skin... so She must be a demon. I don't see that logic in that.

Well, actually that descrimination makes perfect sense to the ancient Egyptian mind. Way back then, Egypt was located only along the Nile river, because that's the water source for the whole country that sustained life. The alternating water levels between the dry and rain seasons would bring black mud onto the river banks, from which much of the crops were fertalized with. They avoided the white sands of the desert because it was certain death to stay out there wihtout water or food or shade. Hence, black represented life and white, or lighter, represented death. Most Egyptians had dark skin, which protected them form the sun and they believed granted them life. Of course it makes sense that they would hate someone with light skin, or one who represented death.
Good thing Priest Seth could see deeper than the skin.
This is what I like about Takahashi-sama. He does his research!

Oh...I guess I just insulted ancient Egyptian life...then again, if I went there, I'd be executed because they'd ACTUALLY and TRULY believe I was a demon. I'm talking about ancient times, which I wasn't around for, but if I was...o-o' Oh, man... Priest Seto rules for accepting difference! He's so awesome and kawaii. <3

3nodding Death-chan is right. They were racist towards anyone who didn't have their skin tone. There is a reason why they preferred the people of Asia, Cush and Nubia as their slaves.

Well, the white people did the same people to the African Americans. They took them and made them slaves. I don't see the logic in that either. confused It just sort of relates to the topic of people not accepting people because they have a different skin tone.

well, i think that going into it too much kinda.
for one, seth's home wouldnt' have been invaded if he didn't save kisara in the first place.
but i don't think it affects the plot too much.
