Amelia saw Grave approach her and she smiled at him. They hadn't really talked in awhile, and it was good to see him. "Yeah, I'm really excited," she said, grinning at him, her cheeks a darker blue from the bitter n** of the evening's cold weather. "I wonder where we'll be going?" She shoved her hands further into her pockets, wishing she would have brought some gloves or something.
It was then that the professors made their announcement and began to walk. "I guess it's that time. Let's just see where we'll be heading off to." She gave him a nod and began walking behind the professors, being sure to stay close to everyone in the group. One only wondered what kind of creatures lay about the Melancholy district...especially at night.

Ubel had bundled himself up as best as he could, and rushed to the Melancholia district, eager to see what could be seen. He arrived just time time for the professor to announce that they were leaving, gasping quietly in the chilly air.
"Grave!" he called, though it could be scarcely called that, given that he wasn't wont to yell. He scurried up to his friend, tapping him on the shoulder and coughing lightly. "Did I miss anything important...?"

Lelaus "Woa! Hold up!! Everyone be still for a moment. No quick movements.... See that ahead? It's called a Hiisi... It's a type of monster that is very common and very dangerous. The Hiisi is composed of active raw Ether. Normally Ether is not manifested, it lies dormant, waiting to be converted into essence which is used in every part of the world by everything from Empyreans to trees. Hiisi are concentrations of Ether that manifest as pure Ether and move around the physical plane. They can have disasterous effects on Empyreans, so stay clear and don't let them come close to you. They don't move too quickly, so they aren't that hard to avoid, but if they do draw close enough they will distort the Essence bonded to an Empyrean's spirit, causing the Essence of their Alignment to mutate, causing lesions, rotting in the additions and intense illness, even death. There are a lot of those buggers in the Melancholia District...keep your eyes peeled..."

This place is creepy.
His boots scuffed the worn road as Torrid broke into a swift walk behind the proffessors, eyes flicking back and forth to take in his surroundings. He enjoyed the cold weather, but had found himself ill-at-ease for most of the night, noticing with growing concern how much he disliked the dark.
He turned to look over his shoulder, seeking Grave's familiar face amidst the throng of students.

Thankfully, Antigone wasn't so late as to have missed the group entirely. Bold she was, but not so much as to wander around the infamous Meloncholic district with out a group and at least one knowledgable guide. Since she had yet to meet anyone, she wasn't scanning the crowd of students for those she knew. She was looking for those she wanted to know. Anyone who looked interesting, really.

Freezing. It was freezing out here.
Aysel huddled into her woolen coat, but it offered her little warmth. She stood a bit away from her classmates, feeling as isolated from them as she always did. They all seemed to make friends so easily...she didn't understand why nobody wished to walk with her, but she stubbornly decided she didn't care, and turned her eyes to the moon. It hung heavily in the sky tonight, and she thought perhaps it was as downcast as she would be, if she let herself.
Trailing behind, she stretched her fingers in her pockets. It was misty...but the sky was cold and clear. She could see the stars...the moon...and felt she could lose herself. She didn't need others to confirm her existance...not while the stars still shone.

Elanin smiled and was about to introduce herself again when the professor's words hit her ears. She turned her head a moment to take in the sight of the Hiisi, and committed it to memory. When she finished she turned her head back towards Nadyrr and smiled. "I'm Elanin," She offered him a hand to shake again, could never be too friendly, especially in a place like this with something so dangerous about.
She kept her eyes open too, just in case they ran into more of these Hiisi, she would hate to die like that, it sounded terrible.

Ubel gasped quietly at the sight oft he brightly colored monster, eyes wide and body tensing for a brief moment. As frightening as it sounded, it was fascinating to know something this deadly could be found so easily in the district of his own alignment... it brought a tiny smile to his lips, before he distracted himself once more, waiting for them to move on further into this amazing place.

Grave nodded to Amelia and kept close to her as the group began to move. He saw Torrid up at the front, close to Abrid. Of course, Grave mused silently. He smiled and waved to his friend when he felt a tap on his shoulder. Grave turned to see Ubel at his side. "Ubel! I was hoping to see you tonight. No, you haven't missed anything yet. We're just--" and Grave trailed off as a glowing ball of what seemed light and energy rose up in the alleyway before the group. Grave held his breath, feeling an uncomfortable pulling in his skin, like an itch too deep to scratch. He heard Lelaus's voice call above the din of student's mumbling, but did not feel safer for it. Cause the additions to -rot- off? Grave wondered to himself as his face creased into a look halfway between frown and grimace.

Nadyrr paused his fear vanished as the professor spoke his eyes going to the monster. From afar he studied it with wonder listening to the description, for some reason he knew he would never forget. Nadyrr looked briefly to the girl that had greeted him before starting on after the group, with the sighting of the monster his jitters over being near the others vanished slightly. It was not fear that lost those fears but rather wonder, he didn't want to get too far behind or he would miss what was happening.

Red eyes were drawn to Grave once more and Ubel blinked once, before touching the other's hand, making a small sound. "You feel it too?" he asked quietly, glancing momentarily at the Hiisi, then back at his friend. "They're amazing, though, aren't they? To think that something so deadly could be found around here so easily..." Then he paused and looked at Amelia, blinking once, then offering a weak smile. "Hi..."

Chandra was taken from her small fantasty world my the teachers voice. She listened carefully to the instructions and then nudged Selene from the dream world her sister was now in. "Did you hear him, stay away from the floating light things..."
Selene gazed at her sister for a brief moment, wondering how this could possibly be more important than the tragic love story she was setting the stage for in her mind. Then she remembered that her sister was probably looking out for her. "Hmm?"
"See the floaty light thingy?"
Selene nodded.
"It's called a Hiisi, and it'll suck the essence from you and make you sick or kill you. Please just stay away from them."
Selene raised an eyebrow and then nodded very enthusistacally. Of course she would, if Chandra told her to, it would be for the best. Selene snugged closer to Chandra and decided that maybe it was time to start paying attention.
((ugh. i forgot i was having lunch with my dad today. must run or i'll be late... wait... i am already late. later?))

Tavon slowed down a bit as the professor spoke, glancing over at the Hissi as he finished."Dangerous, ehh?"He hurried bak up, not wanting to fall behind.

Task the First MonsterStalker!! The Object:During the course of the event there will be 13 Hiisi posted, including the one you just saw. Meaning, 12 more will be posted during the event without ceremony or mention. Your job is to keep track of on which page each of the Hiisi are posted. The Rules:When the thirteenth and last Hiisi is posted, the first person to correctly post up a list of the 13 Hiisi and which pages each one was posted on, wins a prize. There will be no mention of the end of the Hiisi posting, so it'll be up to you to keep track of all 13 and post when they've all been shown. Since the first one had a bit of pomp and ceremony when it was posted, that one's a bit of a freebie. But you'll have to keep notepad open and keep track of the remaining twelve on your own. The Prize:The Prize is an Empyrean slot. I'd prefer if current owners donated this prize to a friend or lurker who has been trying to get one. Also, there will be an RP sample required if the winner is someone i've never talked to, just to make sure the writing quality is up to snuff. If your RP skills are not advanced enough to competantly play the game, I reserve the right to award this prize to the next person in line.

Torrid smiled and was about to wave when the proffesor spoke. He turned quickly, immediately attentive at Lelaus' words and blinking in astonishment at the sight of the monster. He peered curiously at the ball of light, marvelling at how something so seemingly harmless could be so dangerous.
