It wasn’t ever enough— not for Sirius.
Once a wanderer, Sirius didn’t plant roots until the birth (and subsequent dumping at his metaphorical doorstep) of his first child. These days, he’s come to cherish the small patch of land and the family he has claimed as his own. He’ll fiercely guard his loved ones and home with bared teeth if he must, although he’d much rather spend his nights beneath the stars, charting unnamed constellations alongside those he holds dear.
A devoted father and tender friend, Sirius keeps every bond close to heart, treasuring the time spent with those he favors. He cares so deeply that it often tangles his thoughts in his mind, his words twist into something unintended, leaving him to overanalyze his tone, stumble through clarifications, and scramble to reassure others he meant no harm even when no harm was ever felt. While the whole ordeal can be a bit funny to witness, especially when he manages to shove his entire foot in his mouth, it’s deeply stressful for him. The fear of hurting someone just by misspeaking gnaws at the edges of his mind far more often than he lets on.

With eyes always turned to the stars and questions gathering on his tongue, Sirius grew into an inquisitive and thoughtful child. His early years were peaceful and quiet, spent nestled in the mountains alongside his quaint family. Adulthood came, and Sirius remained by his parents' side until their passing. When they were gone, he set out once more, searching for a new place to call hone— one that didn’t linger with the ghosts of his loved ones. A storm interrupted his quiet travels, and he was fortunate enough to meet a beautiful, starry-flecked feline who offered her den as shelter. He accepted her kindness and, to his surprise, spent the night finding comfort in her arms. Come morning, Sirius thanked her warmly and promised to return before continuing on his journey. [Rogue Breeding!] He settled in a cozy mountain cave not far from the starry-flecked feline, a quiet hope lingering in his heart that she might seek him out again. To his surprise, that wish was granted one night: she appeared at the mouth of his den and gently placed a small, frail cub before him. She told him the child was theirs, and there was no mistaking the resemblance. Caught off-guard but already smitten with the tiny life before him, Sirius proposed they raise her together. The feline gave him a long, squinting look before suggesting they take turns caring for the child while getting to know each other better. Sirius agreed, and learned the cub had already been named Kyiana. The mother promised to return in two weeks to take her turn, and, maybe, spend a few days seeing how co-parenting might work between them; but she never came back. Sirius made one attempt to track her down, but ultimately returned home to focus on the child she left behind. Though unexpected, Kyiana was a gift he welcomed with open arms, and he embraced fatherhood with the steady warmth he was known for, ready for whatever it might bring. [Colony Founded!] Sirius hadn’t ever dreamed of founding and running a colony, but his unique way of living under the stars gathered attention from passing visitors in search of a warm bed for the night. Some left, but others stayed, interested in learning about Sirius’ culture and his ways. Naturally, he began to lead his guests into a new, permanent way of living, naming it in honor of his father: the Starborne. [New Friends!] Cressida came to the Starborne as one of the founding members, bringing with her a surprise of her own… she was pregnant! Sirius was elated— children were a welcome joy to surround his days with, and his own child would certainly benefit from more friends her own age. Naturally, Sirius took on a fatherly role for the future brood, although he did originally try to give space for the visiting father, Saunek, to find his feet. Evidently, Saunek’s hesitancy and obvious anxiety left a sour, bitter impression for Sirius, who couldn’t imagine how one could be so reluctant to raise their own child. Sirius vowed to ensure Cressida never was without, regardless of Saunek’s own involvement.

Kyiana spends much of her time in a daydream world, her mind often idling her away from the present and into a fantasy land. Like her father, she dreams of stars and distant worlds, pondering all the possibilities the universe might hold in hopes of seeing even half of them one day. It's not always easy for her to stay grounded, but when she does come crashing back to earth, she is gentle, pleasant, and full of bubbling questions.
She's endlessly curious, with "why" often on the tip of her tongue. It's not to be difficult, nor to bother the unfortunate soul interacting with her — she truly wants to understand everything. Every answer sparks another question, another "but why?" or "how?", tumbling into the next question and the next until either she's satisfied or the other person has fled in exasperation. While Kyiana means well and intends no harm, her wonder is profound and genuine, often suffocating those who are not prepared.

Kyiana's constant questions and boundless curiosity quickly overwhelmed her, and eventually, the starry-flecked feline tracked Sirius down, tricked him into taking the cub in, and then vanished, leaving both father and daughter behind. It hurt — Kyiana was old enough to understand she'd been left. But in the wake of that heartbreak, she turned to Sirius and realized that his love for her far outweighed the apathy her mother had harbored. Sirius loved her deeply, and he never once held back in showing it, always doting on his little stargazer with all the warmth he had to give. [New Friend!] Kyiana met Minyua shortly after moving in with Sirius, and the two became fast, inseparable friends. Minyua was often over at her cave, taking up as much space as the small, star-loving family would allow her to. While initially hesitant, Kyiana opened up to colony life, enjoying the company of new faces and, eventually, more children joining the colony alongside her. Freya: She had been just a cub when he was assigned to protect her, and from then on, she had been the center of his world. He has tried desperately to rid himself of his feelings for her — she doesn't love him, doesn't want him, doesn't even think of him first thing in the morning when she wakes, unlike him. To him, he is a doer — he serves, protects, and ensures others live long, healthy, safe lives. When it comes to him, well... he has to be fit and strong to do those things. He trains, eats well, and does his duties. Life is simple when he breaks it down into these consistent, step-by-step tasks.
In reality, deep where Saunek doesn't like to look, he doesn't find himself worth being a center of focus — not by others, and especially not by himself. If he isn't a provider, what is he? These feelings stay hidden, but they're bubbling underneath, fueling a short temper, distancing habits, and a growing self-hatred as he judges his actions and self-worth against the successes of others. He loves deeply — passionately, and somewhere under it all, he wishes he could run away and find a quiet, loving life with someone who chooses him first every time.

She was both a duty and someone who exuded traits he wished he had inherently within himself. He kept a distance from the other guards and servants assigned to her, content to dedicate his life to only hers. Feelings began to grow throughout his childhood and then adolescence, becoming an almost painful pressure against his chest — she was a princess, and he was her guard; nothing more, nothing less. [Leaving Colony!] It seemed only natural to follow after Freya when she plotted to escape the colony before her heir ceremony. He was an integral part in the planning of her departure, risking his life for hers without a second thought. Irritation blossomed when other members under her care also joined, but he'd remind himself that more paws meant more chances for the princess to escape safely. After refusing Freya's insistence that her followers find their own lives, Saunek trailed after the group into the temporary mountain system they'd live within while figuring out their future, together. A split moment found Saunek vulnerable as he wondered if, perhaps, this new reality might mean something more could develop between him and his childhood love. Still, Freya kept her distance from his admittedly infrequent attempts to court her. After what was, in his eyes, one too many times embarrassing himself, he left the mountain to stretch his paws and vent frustrations. The goal was always to return, once he could finally quell the burdensome feelings towards her. [Rogue Breeding!] What was meant to be a one-night stand to blow off steam with a pretty sparkly feline became an unexpected twist in his life journey. Cressida was beautiful, kind, and made him feel wanted, but he knew he couldn't stay after their shared night. He returned home almost immediately after their encounter, thrown back into the horrible, sinking dread growing in his chest each day he spent alongside Freya. Cressida stayed on his mind, a reminder of what it felt like to share heat with another, and he found himself seeking her once more. "It's just to make sure she's okay", he had told himself, but when she was no longer in her old den, he felt a nagging worry in his chest. Where had she gone? He hadn't meant to look for Cressida. Originally, Saunek had claimed his travels were to scope out new land for his group. Perhaps that was true, at first, but when he spotted a familiar teal color flash on the side of a mountain, well... he found himself barreling after it and meeting both Cressida and her new colony: the Starborne. She was also far rounder than before. He wasn't an idiot, nor was her leader. The word pregnancy left a sour, acidic taste in the back of his throat — he couldn't be a father. Not a decent one, at least. Saunek returned to his temporary home, visiting Cressida sparsely throughout her pregnancy until the birth of their children. His visits would lessen once he realized that Sirius, the Starborne leader, had naturally begun to help Cressida with the children, disguising the building resentment with claims that he was just too busy. Ime can be easily summed up as calm, motherly, and quick on her feet. She's a reserved and peaceful soul, navigating the world in search of ways to improve it, if possible. She's the epitome of "treat others how you want to be treated". While kind and generally pleasant, Ime feels no hesitation towards correcting poor behavior or tempers.
Since it's so easy to get along with others, Ime finds herself often the person everyone vents to. She'd never dream of sharing anyone's secrets, but she will use information they gave her to later try and nudge them into better decisions or situations.
