High in the mountains, where the stars seem close enough to touch, lives a quiet and curious colony called the Starborne. Brought together by their admiration and knowledge of the celestial bodies above, they believe each creature is born of the stars, shaped by their life story, and returned to the cosmos in death, becoming a constellation that reveals their tale. All stories end in the night sky: those rooted in truth, those spoken from dreams and fables, and even those whispered to sleeping children. To the Starborne, all stories matter equally, and all glitter above.

The roots of the colony trace back to a single Ma’ome named Sirius. He had been raised by a stargazer who taught him the names of constellations and the quiet language of the night sky, encouraging him not only to memorize, but to someday chart his own. When he came of age and discovered the star he felt akin to, he left home, wandering the world on his own terms. He guided travelers, swapped stories, and collected more of his own, looking into the heaven’s above and bonding them to a star or constellation during his travels. His life shifted when he became the sole parent of his first child, Kyiana, and changed further after he claimed a large, labyrinthian mountain for he and his daughter. It was far too big, far too vast, for Sirius to keep for themselves, and in time he began allowing travelers and visitors to stay within his territory to rest. There were those who would remain, learning of their ways and becoming first students, and then kin— the Starborne.

Living among the Starborne is living a life of curiosity and closeness. Storytelling is central to their of life, as is studying the stars above. They are mostly nocturnal, feeling most alive under moonlight and starlight. Members support one another, and seek meaning in both cosmic signs and everyday moments. Disagreements are settled with reason, not force— violence is seen as a failure of understanding. They are stargazers, and archivists, not fighters or warriors.

To be Starborne is to live not only beneath the stars, but in tandem with them— watching, wondering, and weaving your story into the night. Every member, whether born within the expansive mountain or welcomed in from the beyond, carries a spark of something ancient and bright. While the mountain winds may whisper and the constellations shift above, one truth remains: here, every story matters, and every story finds its place in the sky.

The colony has chosen to remain within the large, labyrinthine mountain claimed by Sirius and his daughter. Its size offers more than enough room for future growth, though newcomers may find its twisting walls disorienting at first. A discreet cave opening at the mountain's base leads inward to the mountain's hollow heart, where the interior forms a strange spiral, slowly ascending upwards like an uneven staircase.

Branching off the spiral walls are countless smaller caves, still waiting to be fully mapped and explored. The lower levels remain open to guests and visitors, while the upper floors are reserved for private colony use (and barred from visitations). The middle levels are still being surveyed and have not yet been deemed safe for regular access.

The spiral path eventually leads to a cave that opens to the summit— called Topside by the Starborne. This sacred space, revered for its nearness to the stars, hosts all colony ceremonies, rituals, and meetings. Starborne members are welcome there at any time, and some even choose to sleep beneath the open sky during the cooler months.

    Biome: Misty Mountains
Weather: The altitude intensifies the seasons topside, while the inner mountain remains cooler.

Quote:
「The Spiral」
Floors 1-10: Charted, and accessible for visitors and guests. Guest rooms, an eating area, and smaller rooms with a variety of essential items are available here.
Floors 11-24: Uncharted. While Scouts are permitted to explore and chart the unknown, visitors and colony members are barred from entering until it's deemed safe.
Floors 25-30: Charted. Only Starborne members are permitted on these floors, as they hold the rest of the colony life— the archives, sick bay, storage, family homes, and other necessary clan functions.

Quote:
「Topside」
Entry: On floor 30 is a large cave that ascends upwards, into the "flat" top of the mountain. Only Starborne members are allowed, although they can't necessarily stop birds from visiting.
The Grounds: The summit is unusually flat, offering an unobstructed view of the stars above. However, due to the high altitude and frequent cloud cover, it’s difficult to see the lands below from this vantage point.

If asked the purpose of the Starborne, most would laugh and simply say: “To be one with the stars!” And they wouldn’t be wrong, of course. The Starborne exist to remain as close as possible to the sky above while still bound to their mortal lives.

But there is more to them than simple stargazers and celestial enthusiasts.

The Starborne also serve as archivists of the celestial— etching the movements of stars and constellations into stone slabs, and gathering spoken stories passed down through generations. They are eager to share their knowledge, whether by pointing out constellations to a curious guest or teaching travelers how to navigate the land using only the night sky as their guide.

Quote:
「Celestial Infokeepers」
✦ The stars above and constellations are etched into stone and stored within a hidden archive on the upper floors. While eager to teach others of their findings, the personal constellations of individual Starborne are carefully protected, only accessible by the Nightwatchers and the Starcharter once engraved.
✦ The Starborne are always charting new constellations— both to preserve knowledge and to aid in navigation.
✦ Some weather patterns are easier to see due to their constant gaze at the skies above. This information is shared with nearby settlements and travelers.

Quote:
「Storytellers」
✦ Tales and stories, whether founded in reality or from distant dreams, are shared, created, and logged within the archives.
✦ The growing history of nearby lands is carefully charted within the archives and made available to all who seek it. Over time, the Starborne hope to build an impressive and expansive record of the world’s stories.

Quote:
「Divination」
✦ Though not widely embraced nor part of the Starborne’s original culture, divination holds a quiet place within the colony. While not all members practice or believe in it, those who do are welcome to pursue their craft freely.
✦ Some members may practice astrology, tarot reading, horoscopes, and more. These services may be offered to visitors if they find a Starborne member who participates in the practice.

The Starborne is a quiet, contemplative colony that lives by the light of the stars. United by a deep appreciation and reverence for the night sky, they believe that every creature is tied to a singular star, also known within their colony language as their Starself. This star will be the first of their constellation after death, each additional branch representing their life story.

Peaceful and routine-driven, the Starborne culture values knowledge, unity, and self-discovery. Daily life begins with communal chores and shared duties, typically after nightfall. After their colony obligations are fulfilled, members are free to turn their gaze to the stars— or to any personal task that calls to them.

Their community is guided by the Starcharter and the Nightwatchers, who help maintain balance and order.

Quote:
「The Stars」
✦ The stars hold all stories, whether true or not— all are meaningful.
✦ Every person has a Starself: a star that represents them, and is the first star of their future constellation upon death. A large constellation is seen as a mark of honor and evidence of a long, impactful life story.
✦ Ancestors become stars, and constellations are built from the stories of their lives. The Starborne track each member's Starself and constellation within the archive, and freely share tales of the deceased amongst their own.
✦ The Starborne believe the gods and deities of the stars bestow protection within Starborne territory. While other deities are acknowledged, they are not revered.

Quote:
「Moon Phases」
✦ The phases of the moon impact the colony's culture and night-to-night activities.

✦ 🌑 New Moon: A time of quiet reflection, when the moon's light doesn't swallow the stars. It's considered an ideal time to begin new projects, complete a promotion, or mark personal growth. Children born under a new moon are believed to be especially blessed by the stars.
✦ 🌒🌓🌔 Waxing Moon: Symbolizing growth and learning, Starborne are encouraged to study, develop their skills, and explore— both mentally and physically. Starseekers are, in particular, expected to dedicate these nights to deeper self-discovery and progress towards their promotion.
✦ 🌕 Full Moon: The most social and celebratory time— storytelling, shared meals, and singing under the moon are common. It's believed that the stars need extra voices and joy to shine over the moon's rays. Offerings are left for ancestors and star deities, placed in personal, meaningful locations by the giver. Diviners are most active during this phase.
✦ 🌖🌗🌘 Waning Moon: Representing rest and recovery, focus shifts to conserving energy, preparing supplies, and tying up loose ends. Archivists often work their longest hours during waning moons, believing they must preserve stories and memories before the cycle resets. Starborne are encouraged to slow down, reflect, and spend meaningful time with family and loved ones.

Quote:
「Storytelling」
✦ Stories preserve memories that might otherwise fade into the stars. Family tales are commonly passed through bloodlines, but anything forgotten can be found in the archives.
✦ Every tale told is a tribute to a Starself, keeping the constellation of the deceased bright. It is considered a tragedy for a constellation to be forgotten entirely.
✦ Storytelling is often a way to strengthen bonds and resolve conflicts. It is customary for quarreling Starborne to share tales over a meal or during duties, hoping to foster connection.
✦ During ceremonies, stories are sung or danced, linking the community to the stars above.

Quote:
「As a Colony」
✦ The Starborne live in harmony, valuing peace and mutual respect above all else.
✦ Knowledge, growth, peace, and introspection guide their daily lives.
✦ The colony is primarily nocturnal, mainly operating at night. They find strength and inspiration under starlight. The rare diurnal members are expected to remain quiet while the colony rests.
✦ They harbor a close-knit community where every member’s voice is valued and curiosity is encouraged.
✦ Cooperation and shared responsibility are integral, with roles assigned based on skill and contribution.

Quote:
「Hierarchy」
✦ The Starborne hierarchy is rank-based, with no emphasis on bloodlines. Each member receives a rank suited to their talents and interests. Those who refuse to accept a rank may be asked to leave.
✦ New members and older children are labeled Starseekers (apprentices) as they discover their Starself and find their rank. Starseekers must embark on a Starjourney before promotion.
✦ The colony is led by the Starcharter, who governs alongside a council called the Nightwatchers. Together, they hold meetings, make decisions, and support the Starcharter’s final rulings.
✦ In difficult times, the Starcharter and Nightwatchers may open a poll, allowing all members to speak and vote on important matters.

Quote:
「Reproduction」
✦ All members are free to choose their partners. When breeding with outsiders, it is encouraged to welcome the partner into the colony as a member. If this is not possible, it is generally expected that at least half of the litter will remain within Starborne lands.
✦ Breeding with outsiders from other colonies is treated with care. If the other colony is an ally, then it is not worth a second glance. If the partner is from an unknown colony, the Starcharter requests a meeting with the prospective parents, if possible. It is considered necessary that at least half of the litter stays within Starborne territory.
✦ Breeding with a colony considered an enemy will result in immediate expulsion for endangering the Starborne.

Quote:
「Raising the Young」
✦ Young children are cared for by both their parents and the Teachers. They sleep alongside siblings and parents, and upon waking, are brought to the Teachers’ Quarters to learn life skills, be watched over while parents work, and receive meals.
✦ Parents are granted six weeks off from their duties to spend time with their young children. During times of great struggle or hardship, this leave may be shortened or withheld.
✦ Teenagers become Starseekers as they begin the search for their future role and their Starself. All Starseekers embark on a Starjourney with a traveling party, where they practice the duties of their desired role and seek the star that calls to them. They return with the party, but on rare occasions may be sent out again if they have yet to find their path.
✦ Unattended children are not permitted to leave Starborne.

Quote:
「Death」
✦ For the Starborne, death is not feared, but seen as a transformation— a passage in becoming a star that watches over the living.
✦ While beliefs vary on what happens beyond life, there is a common understanding and comfort that existence continues in the realm of the stars, bringing peace to those who pass.
✦ The dead are buried Topside, under the stars.

Quote:
「Love」
✦ Love takes many forms, and as long as it is consensual and safe, the Starborne embrace it openly. They welcome same-sex relationships, polyamory, and bonds between different species (such as ma’ome and ma’duwi).
✦ Lifemating is viewed as the merging of constellations— a sacred bond for many, though not required.
✦ While ending a mating bond is a personal matter, repeated severings by one member are generally frowned upon, and the Starcharter may intervene in such cases.
✦ The Starborne hold strong objections to incest and significant age disparities in relationships.

Quote:
「Names」
✦ There is no enforced naming structure, but the Starborne vastly prefer star/moon/celestial-based names.

Quote:
「Appearance」
✦ All species and pelts are welcomed within the colony.
✦ Those bearing space-themed markings or pelts are often seen as closer to the stars, and by some, considered especially blessed.

Quote:
「Companions」
✦ All companions are welcomed, and expected to help their bonded with their daily duties.

Quote:
「Adventurer Parties」
✦ At the start of each season, an Adventurer Party sets out to explore the lands beyond, gather tales and supplies, train Starseekers, and possibly bring back new members.
✦ Adventuring Parties aim to return home within a season's time.
✦ Primarily composed of Scouts, the parties always include at least one Healer, one Archivist, and one Hunter.
✦ Multiple parties may be dispatched if the population allows, and the homebase doesn’t require additional paws.
✦ The Pathseer appoints the leader of each Adventurer Party. The leader is responsible for the safety and return of all members and may be barred from leading future parties if their leadership is deemed poor.

Quote:
「Outsiders」
✦ Visitors and guests are warmly welcomed. The Starborne aid hungry wanderers, trade willingly with merchants, and grant access to the lower floors of the Spiral.
✦ Though hospitable, the Starborne expect all guests to behave respectfully. Those who cause trouble within their lands are swiftly asked to leave.

While the Starborne colony is still young, several traditions have already formed, many carried in by Sirius and his family celebrations. As the colony grows and matures, more customs and holidays are likely to emerge over time.

Quote:
「Any Time of the Year」
Marriage: Marriage is not required, but when it happens, it is significant, seen as the joining of two or more star branches into a shared constellation. Marriages are personal and handled by the joining parties in whatever way feels right to them. Often, the colony comes together to celebrate with a feast in honor of the newly joined. The one tradition everyone follows is a visit to Topside, where the couple (or group) speaks their vows or intentions aloud. The Starcharter usually offers kind words of blessing and encouragement during this ceremony.
Divorce: Divorce is treated as a private matter and is often encouraged to be conducted discreetly, away from the colony’s public spaces. The ceremony usually takes place Topside, where the Starcharter officiates the respectful separation of the involved star branches.
Funeral: While death brings sorrow in the loss of a life among the living, funerals are somber yet warm gatherings. The deceased are laid to rest Topside, beneath the stars. Loved ones share stories and memories of the departed, while offerings are placed upon the grave to aid their journey to the heavens. A lantern is lit to guide the stars on their path to join the constellation above.
Birthdays: On their birthday, members receive small gifts of appreciation and are treated to their favorite meal during dinner.
Starfinding: When a Starseeker discovers their Starself and is ready to announce it to the colony, a Starfinding ceremony is held. Family and mentors gather beneath the stars as the Starcharter and relevant Nightwatcher bestow the Starseeker’s new rank. The newly appointed member shares the story of their journey to find their star and reveals its place in the sky for archival before embracing their new role. It is considered an intimate and deeply honored moment to be invited to witness such an event.
New Moon: On the night when the stars shine at their brightest, the colony holds the new moon in reverence. Significant ceremonies and events are often chosen to align with this night, as it is believed to strengthen their bond to the stars. Births are seen as especially blessed— those born under it are thought to share a deep connection with the cosmos. All members are encouraged to seek out and reflect upon their star on this sacred night.
Nightwatcher Ascension: When a member is chosen to join the council, they partake in a quiet, private ceremony held Topside. Only the current Starcharter and Nightwatchers are present. During the ritual, the newly blossoming Nightwatcher is gifted a necklace shaped like a constellation meaningful to them, symbolizing their new role. This necklace serves as both a sign of honor and proof of their ascension. The new Nightwatcher is expected to sleep under the stars to complete their new bond to the colony and stars.
Starshowers: When starshowers slice across the sky, they are believed to be the stars themselves descending to visit the earth. These nights are cherished as joyful omens. The colony gathers to celebrate with laughter, feasting, and dancing beneath the falling light. It's a time of unrestrained merriment— song echoing into the sky, children making wishes, and elders recalling their own Starfindings. No formal rituals are held; instead, the Starborne honor the stars in spontaneous celebration.
Lunar Eclipse: The Starborne believe that during a lunar eclipse, the moon is veiled by the universe itself to commune with the stars beyond. It is a sacred and solemn night, observed in silence. Many see it as a time when spirits cross the veil to walk the earth, checking in on their kin or seeking closure. Lights are dimmed, and voices are kept low. Some leave offerings or whisper messages to the sky. Children born beneath a lunar eclipse are believed to be touched by the dead— closer to the afterlife, for better or worse. Some see them as blessed messengers, others as marked by shadow.
Solar Eclipse: The Starborne believe a solar eclipse is a cosmic error— an omen of imbalance, when the void momentarily devours the sun. It is a day of dread and watchfulness. Though the colony typically remains asleep during this time, dens are barricaded, and any decisions made on this day are considered cursed. Children born under a solar eclipse are regarded with unease. Though respected, they are also feared, believed to carry the mark of calamity or ruin if left unguided. Such children are watched closely, raised with great care and ritual to prevent the awakening of ill fates.

Quote:
「Winter」
December 21st, Winter Solstice: Members gather during the shortest day of the year to light bonfires on Topside, celebrate the arrival of winter, and share stories. Seen as a day of relaxation, work that is not absolutely necessary is set aside for the next day.
December 25th, Startide: Held on the coldest night of the winter season, Startide marks the point when the stars seem furthest away. Every floor of the Spiral is adorned with colony-made glowing ornaments, golden trinkets, and starlight symbols. These decorations are said to guide the spirits of lost starfolk back home. Lanterns and glowstones are lit across the colony, and members dance beneath the inner starlight. Children stamp glowing dust into constellations and pawprints while elders recount stories of their youth. As night deepens, the colony gathers to feast, share laughter, and honor connection until the sun begins to rise. No one is left alone during Startide. Those without kin are invited to rest near the heart of the Spiral, where warmth, stories, and companionship are shared freely. The night is long, but never lonely.
December 31st, New Year: Seen as a symbol of a new beginning, members share their resolutions with friends and family, gather together as a colony for a feast, and share stories of the year as the sun rises. Offerings are left for the stars in hopes of a healthy new year.
February 14th, Glimmerdust: A night when it's said that two stars in the celestial above glow the brightest, calling out to those whose hearts beat in harmony. Glimmerdust honors connection in all its forms: friendship, romance, and kinship. Colony members exchange small trinkets dusted with shimmering, glimmering glitter to show their appreciation and affection. Pairs and close companions often stargaze together, sharing stories and whispered wishes under the night sky. Children craft symbols of love or admiration and tuck them into the walls for others to find. Some believe that confessing or beginning a mateship on this day will tie fates together for a great time, while others say it forever binds their constellations.
February 15th, The Courting Star: Singles are not forgotten! A banquet is held in honor of the unattached, where the older generations take joy in gently guiding compatible souls together. The event is festive and warm, filled with laughter, shared stories, and subtle matchmaking games. While not all choose to attend, the elders often encourage the young to go, believing the Courting Star shines brightest for those open to new connections.
March 10th, Betterment: On this day, the Starborne turn inward, reflecting on their paths and the habits that shape them. Prayers and quiet moments are offered to the stars, asking for strength to shed what no longer serves and to walk brighter trails ahead. It is also a time for mending— members are encouraged to seek forgiveness for past missteps, and to offer it in return. In doing so, they believe their light grows clearer, and their constellations, steadier.

Quote:
「Spring」
March 20th, Spring Equinox: Marking the beginning of spring, the holiday focuses on new beginnings. Dens are swept clean, belongings sorted, and anything unnecessary is returned to the earth or the stars. It’s a time to cast off the weight of the past and walk into the future with intention. Members reflect on their goals, setting gentle plans for what they wish to grow— be it within themselves, their bonds, or their surroundings.
April 1st, Starlit Fools: A day especially for the young at heart, where members are encouraged to embrace their inner child. Harmless pranks and playful tricks fill the air, sparking laughter under the stars. Those not needed for essential duties take the night off to revel in lighthearted mischief and joy.
April 5th, The Egg Hunt: On the morning before the celebration, a team hides beautifully decorated eggs throughout the colony grounds. Members spend the day searching for these hidden treasures, turning them in for sweet rewards and shared joy.
June 1st, Parents Celebration: On this day, members express gratitude to their parents by preparing meals and giving thoughtful gifts. Those who prefer not to celebrate with their own family often choose to offer their care and presents to the Starcharter, honoring the colony’s leadership.

Quote:
「Summer」
June 20th, Summer Equinox: Marking the beginning of summer and the longest day of the year, members assist in cleaning the elders’ dens, refresh their offerings to the stars, and take time to reflect on the blessings the stars have bestowed.
July 10th, Starborne’s Anniversary: Though the Starborne formed gradually, the 10th is celebrated as their official anniversary. The day is marked by grand feasts, vibrant decorations throughout the Spiral, and evenings filled with storytelling, singing, and dancing in joyous fellowship.
August 10th, The Day of Great Rest: On this day, members are encouraged to take time for themselves, focusing on rest and personal well-being. It’s believed that tending to one’s comfort is vital to the health and harmony of the entire colony.

Quote:
「Autumn」
September 22nd, Autumn Equinox: Marking the start of autumn, members honor the coming darker, colder months by harvesting local plants and gathering for a communal vegetarian feast.
September 30th, Ancestors Celebration: The Starborne gather to honor their ancestors— whether blood or chosen kin. Stories of past members are shared aloud, and offerings are made to the ancestor stars. The colony also revisits its archives to keep memories alive.
October 31st, Dark Star Festival: Observed on a night when shadows deepen and the stars flicker dimly, the Dark Star Festival honors the thin veil between the living and the starry afterlife. It is believed that spirits wander through the Spiral during this time. Members gather Topside to light lanterns, guiding the deceased safely back to the night sky once their wandering ends. Stories of forgotten constellations, lost souls, and eerie tales are shared— some honoring the forgotten, while others delight in crafting frightening tales. Many paint themselves with glowing markings to signify they are living, so they won’t be mistaken for wandering spirits. Visitors are welcomed but are expected to bring offerings for the dead, lest they be snatched into the night sky for their disrespect.
November 25th, Day of Thanks: Once daily duties are complete, members gather to share a feast, each contributing something to the meal. It is a day dedicated to expressing gratitude and appreciation for one another and the colony as a whole.

Every member of the colony holds a rank, regardless of their origin. At the helm stands The Starcharter, who consults with The Nightwatchers— leaders of each specialized branch —to make decisions that shape the future of the colony.

Nightwatchers are appointed through mutual agreement between the Starcharter and existing Nightwatchers, chosen only when a member has proven themselves through exceptional deeds worthy of great tales. These are roles of deep honor, earned by experience, service, and renown.

When a Starcharter passes, a new one is selected by the Nightwatchers. If no consensus is reached, the colony will vote through a public poll to determine its new guide.

Any member may request to change their rank, should they believe they would rather serve under different duties. If accepted, they must undergo further training as a Starseeker to prepare for their new path.

Those who fail in their duties may be reassigned, or, in cases of misconduct, exiled.

Quote:
「Leadership」
The Starcharter: The singular leader of the colony, entrusted with final authority on all matters. Though their word is ultimate, they govern in close counsel with the Nightwatchers to balance wisdom and fairness. The Starcharter also leads the colony’s most sacred rituals, guiding the community through ceremonies under the stars.

Quote:
「Nightwatchers」
The Sentinel: Commander of the colony’s defenses and protector of its borders. Oversees all Guards, patrols the entry points, and ensures the safety of the Spiral and Topside. Responsible for training in combat and coordinating responses to threats.
The Judge: Leader of the Mediators who uphold the colony’s laws and customs. Oversees disputes, maintains fairness, and ensures conflicts are resolved peacefully and justly. Acts as the colony’s moral compass and arbiter.
The Lifewarden: Chief of the Healers, responsible for the health and well-being of all members. Guides healing practices, teaches medical knowledge, and organizes care during illness or injury.
The Caregiver: Head of the Teachers, overseeing the education and nurturing of young children and Starseekers. Responsible for passing on the colony’s traditions, skills, and wisdom to the next generation.
The Lorekeeper: Guardian of knowledge and history. Oversees the Archivists who maintain the records, stories, and constellations etched in stone. Ensures the colony’s stories are preserved and shared in an appropriate manner.
The Pathseer: Leader of the Scouts, guiding exploration beyond the mountain and the discovery of new lands and stories, as well as the exploration of the inner Spiral. Also, directly responsible for appointing Adventurer Parties.
The Maker: Overseer of Crafters who create tools, ornaments, and everyday necessities. Guides innovation and artistry, supporting the colony’s needs through skilled craftsmanship.
The Cultivator: Head Gardener, responsible for the tending and harvesting of plants within and around the Spiral. Oversees sustainable growth and nurtures the colony’s connection to the earth.
The Ranger: Leader of the Hunters who provide food and resources through tracking and responsible hunting. Balances survival needs with respect for the natural world.

Quote:
「Standard Ranks」
Guard: Responsible for protecting the colony’s borders and maintaining safety within the Spiral and Topside. They patrol regularly, stand watch at key points, and are trained in basic combat skills. In times of conflict, Guards take on active combat roles to defend the colony.
Mediator: Skilled in resolving disputes and maintaining harmony within the colony. They facilitate fair dialogue, enforce colony rules, and work to mend or foster relationships both among members and with neighboring colonies or packs.
Healer: Trained in medicine and care, tending to injuries and illness. They support the health of the colony through healing arts and preventative care.
Teacher: Educators who guide the young, newcomers, and Starseekers. They pass down knowledge, skills, and traditions to ensure the colony’s continuity, while also caring for and protecting the young as their parents fulfill their duties.
Archivist: Keepers of the colony’s history, stories, vital information, and celestial records. They maintain the archives, carefully recording and carving important information into stone to preserve it for future generations.
Scout: Explorers who typically venture beyond the colony's immediate surroundings to gather information, map new territories, report findings, and take Starseekers to discover their Starself. Some also explore the uncharted floors of the Spiral.
Crafter: Skilled artisans who create tools, shelters, equipment, and other essential items that support daily life within the colony. Crafting also includes artwork, which is valued as both practical and cultural expression.
Gardener: Cultivators who nurture plants, manage sustainable food sources, and grow medicinal herbs, playing a vital role in maintaining the colony’s nourishment and health.
Hunter: Providers who track and procure meat, balancing the need for resources with respect for the environment and colony survival.

「Other Ranks」
Child: Children who are too young to have a rank, or begin training.
Starseeker: Typically teenagers in apprenticeship, but the rank includes anyone actively seeking their Starself. They work closely with Teachers and are eventually sent out with an Adventurer Party to discover their star and purpose within the colony.
Elder: Retirement is offered to those older, or who have suffered in a way that removes them from their duties. Those who are retired are called Elders, regardless of their age.

All forms relevant to joining and leaving can be found here. Please post every form within the colony thread itself and wait for a quoted response from NymiiNym.

All members who wish to be a part of Starborne must post the joining form, including owners of parents posting for new births. Otherwise, it will be assumed the member is not joining the colony.

New forms may be added over time, which will be announced in the colony thread.

Quote:
「Joining as an Outsider」
✦ Please fill out the form in its entirety, and then wait for a pinged response from NymiiNym.
✦ In-character, all new members will have been a Starseeker upon joining the colony. However, in efforts to not clutter the thread, new members from outside the colony will skip being listed as a Starseeker and be placed directly into their desired rank with the understanding that they have performed all rituals already. Players can opt instead to join as a Starseeker and take their time choosing a rank, in which case they'll need to post for a new rank once ready.
✦ All species can join the colony, although companions should not be noted independently.
✦ Nightwatcher roles cannot be requested— they are reserved for members with extensive plots and RP within the colony, or upcoming events.
✦ If approved, your character will receive a Starborne graphic, which also can be used by the owner.

「Breedings」
✦ Please fill out the form in its entirety, and then wait for a pinged response from NymiiNym.
✦ This form is for owners of the parents of a Starborne breeding to submit, indicating which offspring will join the Starborne ranks. These children will initially receive the Child rank, and if they mature within the colony, they will be promoted to Starseeker. Breedings whose offspring skip the "middle" stage will be placed directly as Starseekers once they reach adulthood.
✦ Please scroll down for the rank form once a child has grown.
✦ If approved, your character will receive a Starborne graphic, which also can be used by the owner.

「Rank Change」
✦ Please fill out the form in its entirety, and then wait for a pinged response from NymiiNym.
✦ Post this rank form to request a rank change. This includes Starseekers who have found their purpose, or members who decide their previous role no longer fit them.
✦ Once approved, the member will have their colony graphic moved to the correct section.
✦ Please use this form for members injured and retiring to Elder status, too.
✦ Do not request a Nightwatcher roll unless given permission to.

✦ Ensure you note the reason why the member is leaving— details don’t need to be extensive, but this helps others understand how to respond to the event.
✦ Once approved, the member will have their colony graphic removed.
✦ For forceful exiles, players should message NymiiNym on Discord to discuss and obtain approval before posting.
